Hey everyone, I'm happy to be playing with you all. My PC Thenither's a bit of a pill, but he plays to win. And part of winning is as few of US die as possible. So he should be a pretty good teammate.

It's been a while since I played Thenither. I might need to do some shopping. I'll get acquainted with his character sheet again.

I was pretty underwhelmed by the Mystic Officer options.

That being said, 903 is only going to be useful as a Chief Mate (+6 in Athletics) or a back up gunner (+2 to hit.)

Shipwise Dax'd probably vote for the Pegasus, but more for IC reasons than any big preference.

He can backup gun (+4), but would probably be more likely to be either Sci Officer or Engineer (+7 to both). Could also Pilot if needed (+7, so no better or worse than Amy)

Okay, it's been a day and a half guys, let's finish this up. Everyone finalize what ship you are taking and what positions you are taking up so we can get started with the mission proper. I can't make these decisions. So . . . I mean, I don't want to be the bad guy but let's go so we can get to the actual good part of this scenario.

Seems there's two (with a preference/mention from a third so... 2.5?) for Pegasus, one for Drake, and three (2.5?) abstaining.

As for positions, my suggestions would be:
Amy most certainly should be our pilot with her +7 as that's her best benefit here I think.
Tyrson also has a +7 but is probably our best gunner, so give him prime choices in weapons.
Theninther could be our captain or mystic? Not sure here. He could fill either role.
Dax could be back up gunner with the second best bonus or trade off with Seggas for science/engineering. We can have multiple engineering officers.
Seggas can science/engineering. She can also be a backup shooter with a +3
903 could be a good cheif mate. Especially if we don't have a captain.
This look acceptable? Or are there better options?

Works for me too. I would much rather have a captain than a mystic, if Theninther is trying to decide.

Depends on what the captain would be boosting. If we want to focus on initiative then the mystic is great for that. Also round one, getting a good scan of the enemy might not be a bad idea, but yeah a captain is generally better.

So, in my first experience of space combat, the gunner also had a bad streak of luck. We were flying the Drake and found ourselves beat to pieces and out of ammunition, even though someone had the quick reload boon. We had to slink off in defeat. That, and my sympathies for pilots, are why I prefer the Pegasus in general.

I've had so many knowledgeable people tell me the Drake is better, that now I just let everyone else duke it out. I'm unsure that one bad experience trumps expert consensus.


I don’t think anyone begrudges the choice, Dax was just told-playing I am sure. It’s a little tedious, but you guys are doing fine.

Slaughter the ponies, use them for experimentation then tell the Starfinder Society we found them that way.
