Piotr turns away to duck and cover as the dark grey cloud of negative energy washes over him. With fear in his eyes, he writhes in pain.

The taint of undeath is enough to set him off.
Oh, no. Here it comes...

Motueka tries to reason with the creatures, "Lesh not get carried away! This place was just starting to grow on me...so you need to to stop before I carve you like I did those other pumpkins."

As his joke turns to a threat his eyes change from a wispy blue to a darker red.

Demoralize (Pumpkin): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

He then whips out his dagger.

"Hide somewhere you silly hop...they could hurt you. Do you see what bravery got meeeeee?" Dauswil wails as he steps forward swinging his mugs at the creature.

5 Foot Step & Full Attack.

Slam: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Additional +2 Attack if that Intimidate was successful.
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Additional +2 Damage if that Intimidate was successful.

Slam: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Additional +2 Attack if that Intimidate was successful.
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Additional +2 Damage if that Intimidate was successful.

Each mug leaves a trail of sickly liquid trailing behind as they whistle a dirge through the air.

When one of the Slam attacks hit, the target must make a DC 11 Will save or take a –2 penalty on attack and damage rolls for 1 round. This is a mind-affecting fear and emotion effect. Penalties from multiple hits don’t stack with themselves.

The two floating gourds feel reinvigorated by Saturn's negative channel.

Mouteka glares at the other leshy in the room and it just laughs in his face. However, the phantom moves up swiftly and slams down on the jack-o'-lantern bashing it about. The pumpkin man doesn't seem to feel the affect of the phantom.

One of the small gourds starts belching fire directed at Lanel.

And Lanel is successfully burned! Take 4 points of fire damage

Shoot - I accidentally moved it and forgot to move it back. It should be in the same spot as the other one.

Piotr throws his head back and he starts convulsing and transforming. Growing a good foot taller and bulkier, which makes his plate armor tighter, thick brownish grey fur covers his body. His face painfully forms into a snarling wolf with glowing red eyes.
He howls menacingly.
Aaahhh-wooooooo!!!
Momentarily confused from the transformation, he glances about while panting heavily trying to figure out who's friend or foe, but then gives a knowing look to his companions.
He holds his fists up and recites a quick blessing to Milani which makes him covered in a soft golden glow. He then slides his polearm from his back and holds it pointing outward in a threatening stance.

Standard action to transform.
Swift action to cast divine favor on self (+2 atk & dmg for 10 rounds).
Move action to draw weapon.

Lanel curses loudly at being hit by negative energy and then being burned.

"Nope!" Lanel takes a 5ft step away from the gourds and casts magic missile on the gourd that attacked him. "Bertinard, sir, if you are a priest, could you please heal me up a bit? I'm not feeling too well..."

Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Edric takes a five foot step behind Piotr and pulls out his bow, lining up a shot at the gourds that are just north of him.

Attack; Damage: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 161d8 ⇒ 3

Knowledge Nature, gourd: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Knowledge Nature, pumpkin creature: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Piotr transforms into a wolf. Bertinard looks startled but realizes the shapeshifter is on his side.

Lanel curses while he holds out his hands. One missile shoots out and slams into the gourd. It shakes it off easily. But Edric moves back and shoots a crossbow bolt right at it. The bolt cleanly slices the gourd right in half. Immediately it falls out of the air and splashes on the ground. Mouteka gets pumpkin juices all over his legs.

The jack-o'-lantern steps up to reposition itself. It starts to laugh manically. Please make a DC 13 Will save. If you fail, you are shaken for minutes: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11. Then he opens his mouth. Fire erupts and engulfs nearly all of the Pathfidners.

20-ft cone. So that gets everyone but Saturn. So everyone (but Saturn) please make a DC 12 Reflex save or take 2 Fire damage. If you succeed, take 1 Fire damage.

The remaining gourd attempts to follow suit by belching fire. But it's distracted by the jack-o'-lantern's breath attack.

then fire engulfs the inside of the cabin and singes some of Piotr's fur and it stings a little.

"Aww, c'mon!" Lanel watches as the pumpkin unleashes vomit fire too.

"Oh, I see," Muses Saturn as he observes the unfortunate effects of his display of power. "In that case..."

He advances slowly upon the remaining floating gourd, an expression of eerie intensity on his face as he looks the gourd straight in the carved eye-holes.

"...COME TO ME, my pretty!"

Gourd 1, make a DC 14 Will save or have the honor of becoming my very first Bonethrall!

The jack-o'-lantern manages to shake off most of Saturn's channel.

Saved. Pumpkin creature takes 1 Negative damage.

The floating gourd watches Saturn with curiosity, then cackles in its face. It saved against becoming a Bonetrall

The cackling unnerves Motueka but he still steps up to attempt stabbing at the Jack o' Lantern.

"You are shaking and you still come closer...no matter. Pumpkin creature...you are to focus on me." he says before swinging out with his mugs again.

The jack-o'-lantern sends a shiver down Motueka's spine (do vine leshys have spines?). The fire also managed to singe the leshy. Either way, he moves up but can't seem to focus.

The phantom, on the other hand, easily moves up and quickly slams into the pumpkin creature. It stops laughing and focuses its attention on the ghostly figure.

I'll take care of Pumpkinhead.
The beast that is Piotr growls in determination as he moves into position with his polearm pointed in front of him.
Cover Lanel and take care of the floating gourds.
The beast says as he shifts past Motueka.
Glaring and snarling at the creature, he takes a wide sideward swing, hoping to strike deep.

He growls in anger as the blade of his weapon skims the top of the small table. It shatters the glass of the large candle on top and throws off his balance.

Lanel makes sure to put more space between him and the gourd and sends a magic missile against it. He looks pale and a bit burned so he's not going to risk it.

Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Reflex; Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Singed and a bit shaken Edric pulls another arrow from his quiver and takes a shot at the remaining gourd.

Attack, Damage: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 171d8 ⇒ 4

The shapeshifter known as Piotr moves up to the pumpkin man and slashes his sword. It swings wide, knocking over Bertinard's dinner and wine. The priest groans and mutters, "I was going to finish that..."

Lanel turns towards the same creature. One solid missile of the magic variety shoots from his hands and hits the creature in the center of his chest.

Edric looks terrified and singed. He takes out an arrow and shoots the small floating gourd. With a solid *whack* it hits the thing square through the eye, but it still floats. And it looks angry.

The jack-o'-lantern lashes out at the last thing that damaged it - Dauswil. He bites down and crunches hard 5 points of damage. Then will attempt to slam down on the phantom with his viney fists. The phantom easily dodges though.

The remaining gourd shudders at the arrow that pierced his flesh. It'll turn to Edric and belch a steamy ball off fire directly at the alchemist. 5 fire damage

Ah! Sorry, my mistake. Been a long week. It would have died then. So Edric can redo his last turn (and doesn't take 5 fire damage). Saturn can redo their turn this round.

Sorry about your dinner, Bertinard.
Embarrassed, Piotr the beast apologizes in his gutteral voice.

He turns and scowls at his prey.
No more playing around, Pumpkinhead.
He growls.
With the rafters of the ceiling just inches above his head and wielding a polearm just as high, he takes another sideward swing.

Lanel moves to the middle of the room to get a good visual of the Jack-o-lantern monstruosity and fires another magic missile. "You shouldn't be up!"

Lanel tenses up. That's the last of his magic. Better bring out the crossbow next.

Dagger: 1d20 + 1 - 2 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 1 - 2 + 4 = 17

As he swings his body swells up, bark bristling like muscle. Burst of Adrenaline.

"Stop doting on me Dauswil! I am getting better at this and it is personal, this is plant on plant violence!" he huffs as he stabs at the pumpkin.

"Okay...okay but if you die I will be alone...and drifting here." he warns before striking out.

While Piotr is slowly destroying Bertinard's house, the rest of the Pathfinders hone in on the pumpkin man. Between Lanel's magic missiles, Motueka's dagger, and Dauswil's slams, the jack-o'-lantern falls to the ground. It shakes and shivers as the life slowly fades from its body.

Edric knows that the jack-o'-lantern will explode in a fiery explosion in about 5 or 6 seconds (i.e. one round later).

"Is that it? Is it really dead?"

"Everyone get back, it's going to explode!" Edric shouts as he moves away from the pumpkin's corpse.

Lanel pulls Bertinard to duck and cover behind the table.

Everyone has time to pull back before the jack-o'-lantern explodes. Right as Bertinard and Lanel hide behind a table, fiery bits of pumpkin guts decorate the room. If anyone was closer, they could have been badly hurt!

The priest turns to Lanel, "Thank you for saving my life. What were those things? Is everyone okay? Is anyone hurt? I can provide some basic healing.". He has one use of cure light wounds available.

"I mean, I got a bad burn and Dauswil doesnt look good either, but I don't think a normal healing would affect him the same. If you don't mind, I would rather have it." Lanel looks at Mouteka and Dauswil to see if that's ok.

I'll roll and whoever wants it can take the CLW.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Piotr the Wolf drops to the ground just in time to avoid the harmful blast of pumpkin innards and fire. Realizing the battle has ended, he quickly shifts back to his human form as he stands.

Noticing the smashed table, shattered glass, and scorch marks, he looks up to see Lanel's wounds being tended by Bertinard.

I think I'm going to need some time to get used to my bestial form in combat.
He says, somewhat embarrassed, to the group.
I should have easily dispatched those creatures myself. I thank you all for being such fine combatants.

He turns to Bertinard.
I am gratefully sorry for the damage I have done to your home. It appears I owe you a table.

Bertinard looks over at Piotr then at the destruction he caused. With a slight smile, he mentions, "Don't worry about it. I was planning on getting a new table anyway... Thank you again for saving my life. I wonder where those things came from."

We have this note we found in Elm's cottage. It may have clues about where these evil plant creatures came from. It mentions Whisperwort. Perhaps you may have some knowledge that will help us decipher this.

Bertinard looks at the note. "I'm sorry. I don't think I can. I'm only a simple priest. Did any of you see where they came from?"

Piotr thinks for a second.
Ah! Let's look for the tracks of the pumpkinhead creature. We can follow them to their origin.

Piotr searches outside the door for tracks.

Lanel will take the CLW healing. "Thank you!"

"Oh...you took a bit of a beating there Dauswil. Come'ere!" the leshy says as he twists his arm, releasing a wand he uses on himself and Dauswil.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Motueka Full HP.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 Dauswill Full HP. 48/50 Charges remaining.

"You have no clueee why the plants tried to kill youuuu? More could appear at any momeeeeeent" Dauswill wails as the priest is unable to provide any information. He peers outside wearily for more threats.

If anyone else wants some healing from my wand just let me know as well.

Edric also looks around for signs of where the creature could have come from.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Bertinard heals up Lanel. "Go investigate. I may be old, but I'll survive. It's a quick walk into town. I'll go over to Armeline's - she'll protect me."

The tracks outside Bertinard's house is very obvious. With the moonlight shining down, the jack-o'-lantern left a wide trail of destruction. The Pathfinders follow the trail through the fields, guided by the moon and the stars. Though the destruction lessens as they get further away from Bertinard's, the path is still fairly obvious.

Not too long after they depart, perhaps 15 to 20 minutes, the Pathfinders hear something in the distance. At first the noise is quiet and indistinct. But as they get closer, the sound becomes clearer. A loud *wham* followed by a squishing sound. The sound repeats every 5 or 6 seconds.

The group crests a hill and sees a leshy in the fields smashing pumpkins. She does not see you initially as she is currently busy

Added slides with the leshy's picture and a simple map. How are you approaching?

Saturn merely stands his ground and watches in bemusement. "I believe I saw a comedic performance like this once...or perhaps it was an avante-garde musical troupe...?"

Piotr kneels on one knee to make himself less noticeable. He gestures with one hand for everyone else to lower themselves in the tall grass.

Smashing pumpkins? Strange.
Now why would that leshy be smashing pumpkins?
He says softly.

"Wait a second..."
Piotr has a sudden burst of insight.
He turns to Motueka and continues to speak with his voice lowered.
Maybe you can talk to her. Maybe she knows about the evil floating pumpkins or that scarecrow that attacked us. See what's going on, Motueka. I'm afraid if we all approach, we might scare her away.
