I'm find with that marching order.

Good by me.
Unless otherwise specified, Dargu will travel with his shield at the ready and his sword hand empty. If we're under no-light situation, he will likely carry his torch in his weapon hand, but otherwise will keep it free to chuck javelins or draw a blade/club as the situation dictates.

Just a courtesy heads-up:
This Sunday is Father's Day here in Oz. Since tomorrow is Saturday for me, I'm heading out of town to celebrate with my dad and father in law. Sunday is celebrating with hubby and son.
I'll check the boards later tonight and I'll be back on the board late tomorrow night to make any further responses before enjoying the rest of my weekend.
Please feel free (on your Friday) to respond to game posts and undertake in a little rp, make rolls if you wish to, etc.
Thanks,
Chesca. :)

Flori Costor |

I won't get much of a chance to post today as I've run out of time this morning. I will try to after work this evening - just wanted to give you a quick heads up.

GM Chesca of the Jade |

Thanks for letting me/us know. Akatsu. Hope things go smoothly and settle down soon. If need be, I'll certainly bot Akatsu. Have a good weekend. :)

So, the general consensus is that you will be leaving Walthus' shack soon and returning back up the New Fish Trail and camping overnight near the road and then finding/travelling down the Old Fish Trail the next morning? If so, it'll take you two hours to walk back up the trail, if all goes well. Please let me know and we'll go from there. Thanks! :)

GM Chesca of the Jade |

The cloak was handed to Akatsu as Walthus knows he belongs to one of the town’s noble families and it was done as a show of respect. The cloak is a gift to the party (and not to one individual), so you may all share it during the course of the adventure or a person in the party may officially claim it. That can happen between you via rp.

You're very kind, Akatsu - thank you. I'm fine to post, today. My mum took a nasty fall in her garden and since she's made up of a lot of metal replacement parts - it was pretty scary as she couldn't move/get up and my dad was not home at the time. She's hurt and recovering now but not in any danger. They live an hour away, so it isn't easy just to stop over whenever I need/have to.

Time zone differences seem to an obstacle to a proper flow of actions etc in this game. Most players post when I'm sleeping and I post during my day when it seems players are busy with work/life to post. So, I've been trying to move the game forward by posting checks for people to save time so the wait time isn't any longer than it has to be.
At times, I will ask for specific checks/rolls. Generally, though, I am hoping to see detailed descriptions/posts via what each player wishes to do (whether narrative or dialogue - or both - with accompanying checks for what each character wishes to accomplish). This will help me when I'm back on the boards get a better feel of what is going on and give the necessary responses without second guessing any player's thoughts or actions or causing further delays as I ask for corresponding checks. (I have taken to rolling for players in my GM screens so I don't hold up the game any further than it has to, but I'd rather not continue having to do this indefinitely). This will certainly help with the rhythm and flow in game being time zones aren't making for smooth transitions between GM and players posts. I will also make my posts more explicit (both narrative and OOC) as I want players to have a clearer picture of what I'm hoping to see from each of them.
Is there anything more you need from me in my posts? I'd appreciate the feedback as this will help me better help you. :)

Rough Visual for you guys, in case it's helpful.
Your camp is in a clearing to the side of the entrance to the trail, however to reach the goblin dogs you will need to use the trail path and vice versa for them to physically reach you. Around the edges of the trail (on each side of it) is boggy territory and filled with reeds and other swamp flora and fauna. Keep to the trail and you should be okay. Remember: Movement is 3/4 speed along the trail (at this point).

GM Chesca of the Jade |

Akatsu, I've moved your token now and hope the new position is better for you. Sorry, when you mentioned the step back I assumed you wanted to build more distance between you and them while remaining readied for an attack. Thanks re the map. I put it together quickly this morning. :)
This goes to all players - you may move your tokens to a place where you feel you would have first seen the goblin dogs or been sitting/standing in camp. Just make sure you keep the specified distance from the goblin dogs. Thanks! (I forgot to change the settings earlier, but now you may edit the map. Apologies.)

Flori Costor |

Hi all
Unfortunately, I am making the decision to pull out. I haven't really got into this game (through nobody's fault) as it hasn't "clicked" for me.
Honestly, I think I am personally used to a faster game with multiple posts a day and I had missed that this game would be more relaxed when I applied.
I've already spoken to Chesca to let her know and thank her for putting in the work to run the game.
GM, please could you remove me from your active players?
I wish all of you all the best and hope you all continue to enjoy such a wonderful AP.
I know you will all tell a wonderful story together.
Flori.

GM Chesca of the Jade |

I'm very sorry to see you go, Flori. Thank you for your PM and discussion post. I have sent you a reply PM. I sincerely wish you the best.
As requested, I will remove you from the active players.
At this time, I won't be filling Flori's spot in game as we have five remaining players. Flori has given permission for her character to be botted in the meantime. I will find a good place to write her out of game. If someone wishes to bot her in this current situation with the goblin dogs, then please go right head. If no one wishes to do so, then I will bot her character.
Would the remaining players be interested in me setting up a Discord channel for players to informally discuss game OOC stuff, issues, general tactics/plans, concerns? It doesn't have to be in voice - it can be done via text messages there, if people feel more comfortable with that. Just let me know what you think about this. Also, if any of the remaining players have concerns about the game, please feel free to drop me a PM and we can talk about it.
Thank you kindly,
Chesca.

Akatsu Horami |

Sorry to see you go, Flori!
I agree with you, GM - I think we an probably manage with five. Maybe we could just assume Flori's wounds have been more severe than imagined before, and she could retire back to the halfling's house (and to the city) after this scene.

Zyren |

I agree that the proposal would be a positive move for the game. However, for me personally, Discord isn't going to work.
I'm happy to volunteer to bow out though. I know there were a lot of people that were excited to be part of this game during recruitment, so if any of them are open to Discord, getting a different character in here might be better for the game, and I'm perfectly content to move on with the many other games I am already in. :)

Zyren |

Yes. That is my preference.
However, I made a commitment to the game and am willing to fulfill it. I don't want to leave you or my fellow players in the lurch, and am happy to stay and help the party as needed... up to a story exit point or long-term if you prefer.

GM Chesca of the Jade |

Zyren, I appreciate your willingness to uphold a commitment, both short term and long term. However, respectfully, I’m not comfortable with holding a player in a game they aren’t enjoying and /or invested in. That would be unfair to all involved. So, if you would like to leave now, no hard feelings. I’ll be sorry to see you go, but I will respect your decision and wish you well in your other games.
Please let me know.
Thank you,
Chesca.

Akatsu Horami |

For me, particularly, I am enjoying the game and want to continue. I can help recruit / recommend people if needed be. As for the discord thing, I barely (if ever) can truly commit to being in it, despite using it for MMORPGs, so I'd rather if we could keep it all here - so, hopefully, discord is just a suggestion and not a requirement :)
If you guys want to meet there and talk, please feel free to do so, just make sure to bring a summary here for the ones of us who can't really be jumping into other tools any frequently (if it makes sense!).
Honestly, I'd hate to see Zyren leave too, but at the end of the day people have to play what they're having fun in. If it ends up being the case of Zyren leaving, we could probably still manage with the other four. If we were to recruit a fifth, then I'd say let's bring a full arcane caster like a mage or sorcerer.

GM Chesca of the Jade |

Discord was just a suggestion, certainly. :) I don’t think I’ll go ahead with it and we’ll just continue using the discussion thread and PMs for any ooc chatter. This way, all the chatter is kept to one place/site. I appreciate hearing people’s thoughts on it. Thank you. :)
Akatsu, I truly appreciate what you’ve said. I’ll send you a PM later today. Thanks. :)

Zyren |

Okay, I'll exit now. Thank you guys for the opportunity to play with you, and I apologize for any disruption that my exit causes.

GM Chesca of the Jade |

Thank you for your decision, Zyren. I appreciate your character development and contribution to the game. Please take care and best of luck on and off the boards.
===
The game is on temporary hold until we can figure out the party and their needs.
So, the party is now four: We have a monk, cleric, fighter and rogue. If you're happy to continue on as four, I'm good with that. If you wish to bring in a fifth, I am open to that as well and will consider a full arcane character to join the ranks. There's no one with diplomacy at the moment with Zyren's departure, yet we have two characters with decent CHA in Dominic and Radjiik. If they put ranks into diplomacy as they level, you should be covered. I leave the decision to the players.
Firstly, though, I wish to ask if the remaining four players are happy to continue on in game? Akatsu has said he is, so before I make any decisions, I'd like to hear from Dom, Radjiik and Dargu. Feel free to answer on discussion or via PM.
Thanks kindly,
Chesca.

Akatsu Horami |

If I may - hoping that we're all happy to continue with the game, I'd argue that, if we're to find a fifth member to our party, we could first ask if all the present players are happy with their characters and roles, or would like to switch to the "full arcane" caster role (or another we might be missing). I am very happy with my monk and his entire backstory, but I reckon we could ask the current players first, and then later open recruitment to fill whatever role ends up unfilled. Again, I very much hope we're all continuing here.

Dargu |

Oh, wow.
Sleep dep with a little one and some work distractions and the whole world changes.
C'est la vie.
I am happy to continue as Dargu, although seeing the others go is kinda a blow to the team.
Perhaps an Arcane type would be a good addition after we return to Sandpoint?
with Re: Discord, that's fine by me as well. with the time zone differences in the group it will make notification and such easier. Also, sharing images/files becomes a lot easier on that platform.

Dominic Kaiba |

Hey hey everyone, I like the direction Dominic's taking, and I'm sad to see Zyren and Flori go, I'd like to try to continue. I do agree we could use a full arcane caster, and I can drop some skill ranks into Diplomacy, although I'd obviously defer to Radjiik if he wanted to take on the more 'face' role in a level or two.
I'm enjoying the interactions and my niche as the harrow-touched cleric of Desna, which is thematically cool; So I'd be hesitant to swap out to something else personally.

![]() |

I'm fine with the game's pace so far, and I quite enjoy playing Radjiik! :)
I hadn't exactly planned for him to be a "face", but I can definitely pick up a couple social skills for the needs of the party for character growth. I completely agree with you guys that we should look for an arcane caster
