About Dominic Kaiba
Dominic Kaiba grew up on a Varisian caravan, his parents travelling from town to town, primarily from Magnimar to Sandpoint and in between the small towns in the area. Selling goods and services, but mostly acting as transport for quantities of goods; and visiting with family. Early on he grew into the worship of Desna, especially on the open road, at the encouragement of his mother, Celeste.
He met Sandru, whom his mother called his ‘cousin’ at a young age, and despite Sandru being older than he, they began a friendship which would last into adulthood. Dominic doesn’t think he remembers Sandru’s parents, but understood that his friend had lost them early, and that his other ‘cousin’ wasn’t as close. Dominic and Sandru know each other well, and went out of their way to see one another when possible; Dominic was introduced to Ameiko, but doesn’t know her well, and of course knows Koya, whom he enjoys having a cup of tea with and discussing the ways of the road.
Dominic’s parents settled in Magnimar, opening a woodworking business there once they had garnered enough coin from selling goods. But Dominic wasn’t satisfied with staying in the city of Magnimar, of course he loved the bustle and haste of it all, but there was something about seeing the next bend in the road which truly appealed to him and so, he set back out on his own. Heading to Sandpoint to seek out his cousin for advice. Armed with his carpentry tools to make a living on the side, and his faith to guide him on his journey, he arrives in Sandpoint. Of course, Sandru is once again speaking of leaving that town, and this time, Dominic feels like he’s old and mature enough to accompany his cousin on the open road.
Dominic is an easy-go-lucky priest of Desna. He’s very committed to his family, both blood, and those adopted into it. The lure of exploration and sense of what is right in the world, standing against oppression guide him. While he doesn’t have the confidence to use his familial harrow deck to read for others, he uses it himself daily, and feels as though it is part of his relationship with Desna. He tends to be very laid back, and tries very hard to get along with others, talking through problems, and having empathy for what others want to try and settle disputes. In the few scraps he’s been in, he prefers to call Desna’s blessings on his allies rather than try to wade into the combat directly himself.
