"Haunted? Yes, I suppose haunted could describe it. Our friend here has lost his mind. We, too, were hunting treasure deeper in the jungle, but those the ruins are infested with fiends! If you value your lives and sanity, you will turn back now. "
Another man says, "Yah, you want to avoid that cyclops temple, it is bad news!"
Almost immediately, the others start to hush the last speaker. "Quiet, fool!" you hear one of them hiss.
With that, all of them start to quickly pack up camp and leave, physically dragging the insane one along with them if necessary.
"Beware, if you choose to go forward. Very bad."
You are able to determine that the babbler is not speaking entirely in gibberish, but that he seems to be rambling in a pidgin that combines pieces of Infernal and Common.

@GM Normaly I must be able to target all of the enemies.

She smiles as her friend Jair resolves the issue with the thugs.
Hah! Take that! And we tried to be nice too!
Lasaraleen will swift cast grace, move to flank the purple one, then cast divine favor on herself as she draws her scimitar.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Go ahead - it looks like Radagast and Zaldurr are delaying to consider their many options...

There are exceptions, but I think in general you are correct.
The lion gets a hold of green, and starts ripping into him. One claw missed, but the rest of the attacks were successful. Still, these guys are tougher than they may have seemed.
The babbling man (grey) runs off to the edge of the woods, and then throws himself to the ground.

@Jair - I was thinking the same, hence the casting the spell and setting up flank.

Radagast - what are you?
Radagast pounces on the relatively harmless man and shreds him to pieces. Jair suddenly becomes two Jairs, and pulls out a wand. Lasaraleen sees that her efforts to spare one man are somewhat wasted, although maybe he'll survive. Given that, she steps up and smacks Red at least with one decent hit.

Lasaraleen will offer aid to stabilize the fallen.
”By the Dawn! We can save at least one if the others have gone to the great beyond. They May have information we can use on our quest. Why were they here. “

![]() |

Right. I was not sure if that was the only one we could save...of the non-crazies. Since some had NL damage.

GM Fuzzfoot |

@Lasaraleen, These folks should not have been a surprise to you - they are Aspis agents stealing artifacts - the people you came to stop.
Searching the bodies, and a nearby saddled horse loaded with gear, you find that there each of the agents has a magical pair of bracers, and magical amulets - except the crazy one. He only has a wooden holy symbol of Norgorber, which he drew out before his astonished compatriots and
smashed lies on the with ground his mace. That holy symbol lies in the place where he curled up and began babbling.
The horse’s saddlebags hold various scavenged items such as stone tablets, pieces of ancient engravings, and tattered tapestry scraps left behind after the fall of the Ghol-Gan empire, though one of the bags is torn open

![]() |

@GM Can we understand what happened to the cray man? As I'm a cleric of Norgorber can I help him get back to his senses and ask him questions?
Know. planes: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Once her comrades show her the stone, Jair is able to identify the ritual seal as a piece of a larger set of wards usually used to bind a powerful outsider.
Not good I will say... I could interrogate these people and befriend them with magic to know more about where they found these object.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Not just from looking at him. If you can calm him down, and speak in a language he seems to be babbling in, you might get somewhere (I think you succeeded at a check pre-battle). Some heal checks might help give you some direction.

![]() |

Jair starts to speak in Infernal to the mad man while looking at him.
Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Lasaraleen considers making a comment about evil clerics of Norgorber....but ummm.
Well, these are not good for much. Jair, you best see what you can find out as they look more in your realm of understanding.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Given Jair's (and others') high diplomacy skills, I am going to handwave trying too hard to bring this guy to helpful, but he is clearly very agitated.
“Fleeing fiends in the heart of this jungle, amidst the ruins of a great empire, I finally saw the truth. I saw visions of the cyclopes of Ghol-Gan weeping blood as they realized that for all of their culture, their gods had abandoned them. I realized that is the way of all gods. They string us along with parlor tricks, but fail when their power is needed the most.”

![]() |

You obviously have been following the wrong gods all your life.
Lasaraleen adds before saying a short prayer to Sarenrae.
Oh Everlight, Sarenrae. In your wisdom, teach us temperance and patience in all things.

![]() |

Lasaraleen finishes her prayer and looks at the crazed man for any signs of miracle conversion.
Oh well.

GM Fuzzfoot |

I could have swore I posted another response to this...
"This stone? A stone is a stone, but perhaps something more?"
He seems distracted, and then says "The temple is little more than bare stone walls, as is the ultimate destiny of all feeble god-halls. Just before the fiends arrived, a large wall in the main temple collapsed, so I doubt it will even remain standing for long.”

![]() |

How many fiends? Do you know the types or can you describe them? Lasaraleen blurts out, astonished by the man's response.

GM Fuzzfoot |

"The seal is a stone. Stones build a temple. But little of that still remains!"
"I know not how many, they get in your head! Get them out! I now see the error in my beliefs. Norgorber lies even to his faithful! That was one of the god’s many foolish secrets. His faithful shroud themselves in secrets, but where does it get them? The gods don’t matter in the end.”
