GM Bret |
There was a question of how I dealt with Starship combat.
In preparation for one, I will grab the starship data and reformat it for use in scans.
Basic Information:
CERULEAN SHRIKE TIER 6
Small light freighter
Speed 8; Maneuverability good (turn 1); Drift 1
Complement 6
Defenses:
AC 24; TL 23
HP 8/50; DT —; CT 10
Shields medium shields 140 (forward 14/35, port 14/35, starboard 14/35, aft 0/35)
Power Core Pulse Green (150 PCU)
Weapons:
Attack (Forward) coilgun (4d4; 20 hexes)
Attack (Forward) light particle beam (3d6; 10 hexes)
Attack (Port) light particle beam (3d6; 10 hexes)
Attack (Starboard) light particle beam (3d6; 10 hexes)
Load:
Expansion Bays cargo holds (3)
Other:
Drift Engine Signal Basic; Systems basic long-range sensors, mk 7 armor, mk 7 defenses, mk 2 tetranode computer; Modifiers +2 to any 4 checks per round, +2 Computers (sensors only), +1 Piloting
I update hull points and shields there so it is trivial to give an updated scan for that information.
I keep notes of any glitching/malfunctioning/ wrecked systems for both ships. I let you know when the enemy has some of that damage, as well as if it gets patched.
I keep round by round track of damage done or undone.
Round 1:
Enemy took 24 to aft shields
Round 2:
Enemy engineer divert power to shields, recover 7 shield, aft 18/35
Enemy took 26 to aft shields, aft 0/35 hull 42/50
Round 3:
Enemy engineer divert power to shields, recover 7 shield, aft 7/35
Enemy Science Officer redistributes shields. Full front & back, 21 port/starboard
Enemy took 27 to aft shields.
Enemy took 9 to aft shields.
Malfunction from CT on Engines
Round 4:
Enemy Engineer fails to patch engines.
Enemy Science Officer rebalances shields, forward 14/35, port 14/35, starboard 14/35, aft 35/35
Enemy hits forward shields for 12 damage on failed flyby.
Round 5
Enemy engineer patches engines.
Enemy took 11 damage to aft shields.
Enemy took 26 damage to aft shields.
Round 6
Enemy engineer restores 7 shield to aft.
Enemy Captain fails taunt.
Enemy took 10 damage to aft shields
Enemy took 26 damage to aft shields
That helps me rewind if there is an error.
I am still experimenting with the update form. I intend it to be a quick way for people to be able to see what is happening on their own ship and some of what the enemy is doing. I don't think it is well defined if you know when you've done hull damage, but figure there would be obvious signs that a ship's systems were partially damaged.
As many of you no doubt noticed, I added a section on the end for who hasn't acted yet. I hope that helps people keep track of things.
If people have suggestions for things that could be more clear, formatting that would help, or just want to chat please do. If someone comes up with a better way to do part of this, I'm willing to try it.
We will have another Starship combat before the special is over.
Srurdez |
Srurdez is torn so count me as a vote either way. He'll happily cut her down, but only if that seems to be the consensus of the group.
Zargothrax McDonald |
Can I suggest an SOP for new rooms? Automatically have one of us give a first pass check for traps, then Zarg will enter and check for auras? Just so we don't pass a day to open each door.

I would love to be given a marching order and door procedure. It would greatly speed this up.
Zargothrax McDonald |
Proposed SOP:
Gunnz and Orrian check door (perc), then Srurdez and Zarg go first with Zarg using detect magic/mysticism.
Proposed Order:
Zarg/Srurdez
Gunnz/Orrian
Conrad/Thom

This looks good to me.
Thomagar Dayana |
Could Thom go up front together with Zarg? As a frontliner, his speed is low, so being in front helps him to get to combat. Also, that would more likely provide a clear path for his stellar rush.
GM Bret |
Lot of this area is single file.
If I have it correct, it would be:
Gunnz Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Orrian Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Zargothrax Mysticism: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Thom
Zargothrax
Gunnz
Orrian
Conrad
Srurdez
If a door is locked, do you want me to bot any engineering checks to attempt to open it?
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
Agreed. Also, weapons out.
Zargothrax McDonald |
Zarg can take 2nd. He has a smattering of ranged spells, and he has mobile caster. Zarg can also bot engineering checks to open doors, in which case he'll likely be 1st for a short period of time.
Gunnz |
Bot the engineering check for Gunnz if you like. She is +11
GM Bret |
Since it might come up,
Armor
A suit of armor’s environmental protections last for a number of days equal to its item level. Activating or deactivating these environmental protections takes a standard action if you are wearing the suit (assuming the armor was properly donned). If you have access to a suit that is unattended or worn by a helpless creature, you can turn on its environmental protection as a full action, but turning it off requires a Computers check to hack the system, treating the suit as a computer with a tier equal to half the suit’s item level (the base DC to hack a computer is equal to 13 + 4 per tier).
---
So full action to turn on the environmental protections on someone else's suit. Standard action for doing it on your own.

I'll fix this error on my turn with a life bubble.
Thomagar Dayana |
boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 3 Well, that is even more "not closer" :)
Zargothrax McDonald |
Boony boon boon?: 1d20 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 7
Gunnz |

hope: 1d20 ⇒ 19
whooohoo: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Gunnz does a quick dance for joy.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
1d20 ⇒ 11
Gunnz |
If Conrad can keep him flat footed, I'll change to putting him off target if I hit.
GM Bret |
Alright, we are very close to the end and I realized that there was some confusion on the Zo! discount plus I'm not sure everyone used it.
Originally it wasn't clear, but once I looked at the chronicle the discount is on the purchase of a single item.
Could you please each list the item, base price, price after 10% discount? That will make it much faster for me to get your chronicles out to everyone.
Zargothrax, I'm still going with your purchase off a chronicle is fine since it is for an item normally available.
Thanks!
Gunnz |
Sadly I did a big equipment upgrade recently, so just a thermal capacitor at 3600-360 =3240cr.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
Advanced Skipshot pistol.
Price=3750
Discount=375
Final price is 3375 Credits.
Thomagar Dayana |
Thomagar Dayana wrote:For the purchases, Thom will purchase
- Darksight Goggles: 1890 (after discount)
- Jetpack: 2790 (after discount)And sell his infrared sensor (for 20, sigh).
Then install the jetpack in his armor.
I'm good with whichever mission. :)
Ah in that case, he'll still get the jetpack at the discount, but the darksight goggles at normal price.
- Darksight Goggles: 2100
- Jetpack: 2790 (after discount)
Thomagar got a discounted jetpack in this post.
Orrian Balnelis |
Orrian will also be purchasing a discounted Jetpack!
Jetpack
Original price: 3100
Discounted price: 2790
Srurdez |
Srurdez purchased a Deflective Reinforcement with the discount.
Deflective Reinforcement
Cost: 7500 - 750
Discounted Price: 6750
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
Boost it for damage and send it on its way
GM Bret |
The special is complete and you did well in it. I do hope everyone had fun.
Does anyone need the chronicles immediately? I have some other things to do and another game to do the paperwork for at the same time. I also have some things that I need to do by Wednesday.
If no one has an immediate need for their chronicles, I will get them out by Thursday. If that would be a problem, I can see what I can do to get them out sooner.
Orrian Balnelis |
No rush on mine. Thanks for running! It was a pleasure playing with everyone.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
No rush. thank you for a great game!
Gunnz |
No rush for me either.
Many thanks for GMing, and the rest of you for playing. And letting me fly in two space combat missions.
Thomagar Dayana |
I'm in no rush either. Thanks for GMing! And thanks for the game, everyone!
Zargothrax McDonald |
No rush here. Great game, great party, great GM! Thanks for the ride!
GM Bret |
Let me know if there are any problems.
Those of you who were affected by the hunger curse will be happy to find out there is an inexpensive and mundane means of resolving the condition.
The curse of the ravenous can be removed by going on a strict diet where you drink only water and eat only flavorless gruel for 1 month.
Thomagar Dayana |
But wait, that's Thomagar's usual diet. :)
Thanks for the game! Chronicle looks good.
Gunnz |
Many thanks Bret. That chronicle looks great.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
Looks great! Thank you.
Zargothrax McDonald |
Zargothrax reads over his chronicle sheet, grins, and gives a big thumbs up. "Ah reckon ah just hit levuhl six!"
Looks good to me!
