Welcome to the discussion thread of King Xeros of Old Azlant (S0-20) that I'll be running. Narika, Zaarah, and Rudzik, you can dot and delete or post your intro in the Gameplay thread at your leisure. The slides link is in my header and at the top of each thread page. You can also post your PFS info below when you get a chance, along with any special abilities you think I might need to be aware of...

Progess (Standard or Slow):
Day Job Roll (if applicable):
You can also post your icons and Initiative/Perception mods on the slide link in my header or at the top of the thread (already have those for the three PCs listed above but you might want to double-check)...
This'll be run at high tier (10-11). We'll be starting in earnest Sunday evening/Monday morning, if we have a full table by then. As I've reserved spots for Narika, Zaarah, and Rudzik, we need three more to complete the party. The next three to post here are in...
I've already entered the introductory post in the Gameplay thread; you may post an introduction there, as you wish...

Player: Hawthwile
Character: Rudzik
PFS #: 264524-5
Faction: Silver Crusade
Progress: Standard
Day Job: Survival (Hunting Lodge): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
For those who haven’t played with him before, Rudzik is an archer with most of the standard archer tricks. Of particular note are his feat Improved Precise Shot (which lets him ignore cover less than total) and his bow’s Seeking enhancement (which lets him ignore concealment as long as he aims at the correct space).

For those of you I haven’t GM’ed before, I’ll give a bit of what you can expect from me. I don’t pretend to know everything when it comes to Pathfinder rules; most of you likely have been playing longer and know the rules better than I. Several of you are GMs that I've played under...and I realize you're better GMs than I. If, more likely when, I err, call me on it as you see it and I’ll fix it; I have no qualms about retconning if I screw something up. You won’t hurt my feelings as I like to think I don’t have too much of an ego. By rule of thumb, I’ll retcon if my mistake is detrimental to the PC/party; if my mistake is beneficial to the PC/party, I tend to not retcon unless I catch it immediately. I also try to give my NPCs a bit of flavor when the opportunity presents itself. My main goal is that everyone will enjoy themselves and have fun.
As a GM, I usually post at least two or three times a day, sometimes more, and I try to keep things moving along. I don’t expect that much posting from my players, although you’re welcome to do so if you are able to and wish to. I’d appreciate if you could post at least once a day and once over the weekends. Real life comes first though so please let me know, if possible, when you may have a hard time posting. If I have to bot you, I’ll check your profile for botting instructions; lacking that, I’ll bot you conservatively equally considering the best interests of the character and the party.
On that note, we are in no hurry to finish this one, as far as I know. So we can play at whatever pace you desire; if you feel I'm pushing a bit too fast or a bit too slow, let me know and I'll adjust...
As far as initiative goes during combat...for those players in the same initiative block, I usually play things out in post order as opposed to initiative order as I’ve found that moves the combat along more quickly. But if it’s a situation where it’s more beneficial to the party to play the block in initiative order, I will do so.
Looking forward to running y’all through this scenario...

![]() |

GM Otha, you can use wand charges and spells if you need to bot me. (I know some GMs try not to do so)
Thanks, Narika. Will do...but usually only if it proves essential to you and/or the party. When I bot, I'll try to be as conservative of your PC as possible, not placing her in harm's way unless it proves absolutely vital to her health and/or the party's well-being; I will bot as if it was one of my own PCs...

Looks like I've either played with, under, or GM'ed for each of you at one time or another. Been playing with Kramac ever since I first started PbP'ing here, from the Confirmation till, hopefully, when we get to run through the Eyes together within the next several months or so. Played and GM'ed with Zaarah for a long while as well; my -1 was her trainer in a scenario or two, but now she's progressed enough where she'll be going through Eyes with Kramac and her former trainer...
I've played with and GM'ed a couple of caps' characters, though I'm the most familiar with Quiella. And the same with Hawthwile; rangers are my favorite characters and my -1 is a multi-classed ranger. Got some good ideas from Rudzik. Also enjoyed GM Hawthwile's Siege of Gallowspire run, even though he killed my -1, albeit for only 6 seconds or so ;). But it was still a blast to play. I did not think I had played with Ed before but looking back, we played a couple together a while ago, A Case of Missing Persons and the Halls of Dwarven Lore trilogy...
In addition to a couple of other scenarios, GM Redelia ran me through Crypt of the Everflame and part of Masks of the Living God in a tag team effort with RePete, and they were a blast to play. But I also recall playing alongside her to start off a particularly brutal AP. Redelia, do you remember playing the first book in the Reign of Winter AP a couple of years ago or so? I was (and still am) Findurel in that one...what a brutal book that was...characters dying, most knocked unconscious, and several other very near TPKs throughout it...felt like that book was actively trying to kill us all. You might be surprised that it's still running; I'm in it and I'm still surprised to hear it's went that long. With people dying and dropping, in addition to sometimes posting dried up for a while. But another GM took over early in Book 2 and now we're a decent ways into Book 3...
Sorry for the nostalgic and rambling reminisce. On another note, Peribras pm'ed me and he'll be posting today or tomorrow; once he posts, that'll be everyone, and I'll press on with the brief...

![]() |

Now I'm curious what other scenarios we have done together Otha.
I've always thought it would be neat to have a tool that let you put in one or more players and see which games they had played in together. I bet it would not be too hard to write...

Now I'm curious what other scenarios we have done together Otha.
You're right caps, it's only been Quiella...I thought I had played with Arion before but it must've been another PC with the same avatar...

Yeah that would be awesome...

![]() |

As everyone has checked into the Gameplay thread now, I'll go ahead and kick us off a bit early; I'm fixing to go watch Gettysburg and wouldn't get a chance to post till later this evening otherwise...
Just a note; the rest of the brief is a huge wall of text. Thus, I'm breaking it into 3 separate posts, to include the knowledge checks for any background. Actually, it's 4 if you count the intro I already posted (it was the first paragraph of the brief)…
Posts should be up momentarily...

![]() |

Sorry for not posting today. I had a work-over-the-weekend project that exploded into an all nighter. Expect a post from me tomorrow or Wednesday and bot me until then

![]() |

I must be missing something with the Grenadier Directed Blast Ability, I thought Supernatural (Su) does not cause an AoO?
"Directed Blast (Su): At 6th level, a grenadier can detonate a bomb so that it splashes in a 20-foot cone rather than affecting a radius. The cone starts at the alchemist and extends away from her in the direction she chooses. The alchemist designates one creature in the squares affected by the cone to be the target of the bomb and makes her attack roll against that creature; all other squares in the cone take splash damage. If the alchemist has the explosive bomb discovery and throws an explosive directed blast, the cone of splash damage is 30 feet long instead of 20 feet. This ability replaces swift poisoning."

![]() |

My bad Ghukar, you didn't miss anything, I did. I wrongly treated it as a normal ranged attack so I'll remove your damage in my next post...

![]() |

My wife is in labor right now. I probably won't post for the next week. Please bot me as necessary.

![]() |

Congratulations, caps! And no worries, here, this was the last combat encounter...there’s a couple of finishing touches that need to be done, but I can bot you as needed...
We’re close to the finish, so if there are any Day Job re-rolls or such, go ahead and make ‘em at your leisure...
Zaarah, save your wand charges, they shouldn’t be needed...
I’ll be posting an update in the Gameplay thread soon...

![]() |

That's a wrap, folks! I enjoyed running this for y'all. And I appreciate y'all pointing out things I got wrong promptly so I could fix 'em, it keeps me on my toes and keeps me learning. That's a good thing about running a scenario with so many good GM's in it...
If there's any constructive criticism or anything I could've done better, feel free to tell me here...it won't hurt my feelings as I don't think I have too much of an ego...
I'll report this and start on your Chronicles; I should have your Chronicles done NLT tomorrow and I'll post a link here.
@Kramac: I know you'll need this one to be slow progress as that gets you to 12 exactly, right? Hopefully Kiboko can get to 12th before too long and we can run through Eyes as planned!

You’re an awesome GM! :-)
Thanks for everything!
Pathfinder is just so hard to manage in high tier with so many character options that I often get super confused.
So thanks for keeping everything together!!

![]() |

And thanks Rudzik for getting us our 2nd pp! :-)

You’re doing a fine job, GM. Pacing has been consistently good at your tables, which is very nice in high-level gameplay when things can slow down and drag on quite a bit.
One thing that might have been nice would have been more clarity with the maps regarding where we came from/were going and which map each character was currently on. Of course, this is rather specific to this scenario - I don’t think I’ve seen another with a map quite this convoluted as far as entrances and exits. But several folks (myself included) got a bit lost during the race to escape and started giving responses like “raced away as fast as possible” rather than “grabbed the railing with one hand and used the downward momentum to propel themselves across the floor”. And again, this is a rather minor issue for a rather specific situation.

![]() |

Thanks, guys...
Roger that Rudzik...I should've added arrows to the map that would've been clearer, especially with the rooms with dimension door...and perhaps more clarity with the stairs as well. What's odd about that in the scenario, is that in the secret room with the lines that y'all found on the middle/armored deck, it specifically says that it teleports you to the main hold (the area where the power sources, to include the night hag you freed, were held before being used as a battery in the plinth). What's odd is this main hold where they were held in temporal stasis is a solid portion of the hull! I figured that had to be a misprint as there was an identical room with dimension door lines in the lower deck which had the stairs leading up to the helm so I went with that. I later read from another GM who said he felt that was a misprint as well and did the same...
Thanks and sorry that was a bit confusing; I'll make a note of that in case I run this one again.

Don't forget Kramac is half-xp for this one!
Edit: I should read the previous posts before just chiming up. Yup! Kramac is 12 now, and officially parked until Kiboko hits 12 for Eyes. I guess I need to start a new character - I'm thinking of starting a Half-Orc Magus that worships Pelor (inspired by the orc tribe Ingrge had a run in with recently) who runs around with a Staff of Radiance blasting undead eventually.

Thank you for running this GM Otha. Full xp for me please. I am hoping to retire a few more before the game fades into the sunset, like Living Greyhawk and Living Forgotten Realms.

Yup! Kramac is 12 now, and officially parked until Kiboko hits 12 for Eyes.
Yep, Flyn and Kramac are parked and Kiboko and Zaarah are approaching 11th, I think, so hope we can get to Eyes towards early next year...
Thank you for running this GM Otha. Full xp for me please. I am hoping to retire a few more before the game fades into the sunset, like Living Greyhawk and Living Forgotten Realms.
No worries, Ghukar, I enjoyed it. I know what you mean about PF1 fading into the sunset; when I saw the sign-up list for Gameday IX, it stuck out like a sore thumb to me. As far as the non-special scenarios, PF2 has more than 3 times the sessions as PF1 while SFS has twice as many...first time I've seen PF1 with by far the fewest sessions in any of the online Cons played on Paizo.
If this trend follows, the disparity will only get worse, I think. Makes me wonder what it'll look like next year...I fear finding PFS1 PBP games will be harder to find...

![]() |

I have been pretty much stuck with PbP for the last three years as the group here in the Gainesville, FL area went belly up after the two 5 star GM's left due to work. Tried to get it going again but you can not run a table with only one player.

I have reported this session and finished your chronicles; they can be found at the link below:
King Xeros of Old Azlant Chronicles
If you find any errors with the Chronicles or the reporting, or any other issues, let me know and I'll try to fix it promptly...
Again, y'all were a good group to GM and I enjoyed it! See y'all around on the forums!

![]() |

Forgot to mention...these are old chronicle sheets and don’t have a block for day job gold. So I added it to the gold you get per tier...double check and make sure I got it right...

![]() |

Oh man, that is old if it’s still using 3.5 items like gloves of dexterity. XD But sheet looks good! I’ve seen some GMs put Day Job in the “Items Sold” box, but this works too. Thanks again for running GM!

![]() |

One question:
Are gloves of dexterity allowed for purchase?

![]() |

Looks like no - they would become a belt of dexterity instead.

![]() |

Thanks! Chronicle looks good.
Have a great weekend!

![]() |

Thanks for the game, GM! I enjoyed playing alongside the rest of you :)
Baby and momma are both doing pretty well. Momma has a bit of a health scare right now but I think she will be okay. Baby is perfect.

![]() |

Enjoyed running you through it, caps. Glad to hear your baby is fine; prayers and good thoughts for your wife.

![]() |

As I haven’t heard any issues with the chronicles or the reporting, I’ll keep this open for another day and then mark it inactive. The link above will hold your chronicles till my next session finishes (it’s a Gameday IX session so it’ll be a while); but I always keep a soft copy on my hard drive so if you ever need another copy, just gimme a holler...
