C5 Dead and Dying

This half-collapsed room is strewn with the remnants of recent slaughter. Several villagers lie on the floor here, wounded and dying, entangled in nets and impaled by broken tridents— their cries of pain echo throughout the room.

The metallic tinge of blood hangs heavy in the air of the chamber.

The x on the map are the people.

Stepping into the room, Ischell sees the wounded and injured townsfolk.

"Woah. This is no good, man. We gotta do something about all of this hurt, ya know?"

He waves his companions with him into the space, closing his eyes.

'Iori, my dude. I need a little more of your presence right about now."

Channel (uses 2 LOH): 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) = 12

A burst of white energy fills the room, engulfing the heroes and the villagers alike.

"Thanks!" he says, to no one in particular.

My LOH are pretty valuable, but this seemed like the Paladin thing to do. And even Ischell has to sometimes act like a paladin!

Ischell moves in!

Within the room are eight wounded villagers. Three are disabled and plead for aid, while another five lie unconscious and seem to be dying.

The three disabled villagers point to the more grievously injured.

They beg Ischell, ”Please help the unconscious first!“

The Paladin complies with his healing powers!

GM :
1d20 ⇒ 20

But before Ischell uses his healing the first touch makes him realize that this is an illusion!!!

But before he can do anything the wall next to him collapses and Ischell is bludgeoned!

Collapsing Wall Trap : 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 216d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 6, 2, 3) = 24

The illusion persists and the villagers seem to be hurt even more.

”Healing! Please help us!!?“

Is any semblance of the encounter real, or does Ischell sense the entire scene is an illusion?

You all realize soon that the whole scene is an illusion.

Knowledge (dungeoneering): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32

“Hey, what’s the difference between a dirty transit station and a well-endowed lady lobster?” Reginald asks, sliding closer to the action. “You see, one’s a crusty bus station, and the other’s… The other one’s… it’s a busty…” The man can’t finish his joke as tears oily tears of laughter roll down his face.

Evil Eye to give Brown a -2 penalty to attack rolls for 9 rounds (Will 18 to reduce duration to 1 round) and Cackle.

Will save first evil eye Robyyn - sorry I did not resolve that: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Will save second evil eye Robyyn: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Will save evil eye Reginald: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Bad luck grips the last tentacle monster as both witches concentrate on it!

1 round -2 AC and - 2 attack rolls.

With that high roll Reginald knows a lot about Chuuls! Feel free to share what you like Reginald.

~

The creature feels fear now but continues to claw into the paladin but this time none of the attacks connect and Ischell is not grappled anymore!

brown, l claw : 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 14 - 2 = 152d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 6) + 7 = 16
brown, r claw : 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 14 - 2 = 162d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 5) + 7 = 17

brown, grab : 1d20 + 19 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 19 - 2 = 242d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 5) + 7 = 15

Ischell takes a small step away, before swinging his Kama's at their full reach toward the grasping creature.

Once again, his hands glow bright white before fading across his body.

LOH, Fey Foundling: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1) + 6 = 13

Ischell’s first strike already cuts into the monster’s neck but it is his second Kama swing - that only hits because of Robyyn and Reginald weakening the Chuul - which cuts off the creature’s tentacle head!!!

Combat over.

”You have ugly fish faces but you guys can fight!!!“ he says grinning.

"Well," Robyyn says, pointing at a fist-sized gem in the water, "that appears to have not been worthless."

He steps over and fishes it out, then casts detect magic to try to determine why it's glowing.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23

What the CR of an individual lobstrosity?

Each Chuul was CR 7. :-)

Robyyn identifies the gem as fire elemental gem!
