Nasir grabs the dead goblin's body by the scruff of her shift and drags her away to toss in the pile with the rest of the dead goblins. Once that is done, he will come back and try entering the circle again.

COMPLETELY UNRELATED, just as Roscoe pops through to the other side of the room, Nasir steps into the teleport circle and successfully vanishes. He reappears next to Ayita, just in time to see Roscoe touch the runes on the far side amd vanish.

"Ahh! We have found a way through. I suppose either you, Ayita, or Frantino Kaddren managed to squeeze Roscoe Elring though this..."

Nasir looks at the space in the wall inquisitively.

"...crack(?) in the wall. Did you need to grease him up or did you just jam him in really hard?"

Nasir tests the opening that has been made to see if he can get through.

Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

With a little application of strength, Nasir widens the hole to get himself through to the other side.

"I had better catch up to him before he gets himself onto trouble. He is not normally in front of everyone else."

Nasir then touches the rune on the far wall in an attempt to teleport away.

Roscoe & Nasir:
Both Roscoe and, shortly after, Nasir have appeared in an identical room to the one they left.

Voices can be heard outside the room. Multiple voices. Human voices.

Perception DC10:

Voice 1: "Where was she going?"
Voice 2: "Dunno, man. I don't even know her."
Voice 3: "Yeah, she looked a little slight to be in the Wood. I mean, no weapon, no armor. Anybody know who she was?"
Voice 4: "Nah. Didn't look like Sharlise, thank the gods. Don't wanna meet her again."
Voice 1: "Gods no. You think she was Sharlise's replacement after the... accident? Dollard likes his assistants. Not like him to go without one for -- hey. Did you hear that?"

GM & Roscoe:

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Nasir motions to Roscoe to be quiet. He then realizes that his shield with the light spell may give them away. He quickly pulls the keffiyeh from his head to cover the light.

If the voices sound like they are getting closer. Nasir will touch the rune on the wall and go back to the other room.

The goblin's body does not activate the teleportation runes. It appears something alive must activate them. When Frantino carries the dead body and touches the runes, he transports back to the previous room where Nasir, Doc and Ayita await.

Doc, some things aren't adding up to me, but I've never put much study time into medicine and can't put my finger on it. Can you take a look please? Doesn't she seem thin, even for a goblin?"

Frantino will casually test the teleportation circle, fully expecting it to not work since Nasir, Roscoe, and Ayita are all in the strange room already.

The goblin appears to have been starving. Emaciated and a lack of muscle mass. Although Doc isn't an expert on goblin physiology. Perhaps this is normal? But she certainly was dehydrated. Her skin is thin and the "tent" test (an old country doctor trick) shows the skin doesn't flatten out after pinching it into a tent.

Her body doesn't display signs of terminal dehydration or starvation. The cause of death is certainly the burn marks on her chest and back. There is no sign of any sword wound. Though a magical healing potion would erase that perfectly.

LEVEL UP!

3RD LEVEL!

If you want to stay here, in the goblin side of things, you all can level up, but some aspects of leveling (feats, spells, abilities, etc) will be postponed until you return to civilization. You may pitch me an explanation for how an ability or feat or spell could be learned in the wilderness and a goblin cave. Can't guarantee I'll agree.

All HP, BAB, Saves can be leveled now.

OR

You can adjourn to town, recover, replenish, get Shirri and the dwarf to safety.

So it looks like Roscoe and I were able to make it back into the transporter room.

"It looks like this teleportation magic takes us to another location which I suspect is the other side of this hill where the bandits are.

I think we need to rest and recover before we try to press through and recover the gauntlet that the ghost is pointing us at.

The problem is that we have no idea how much time we have before Corstella and her minions get here. Additionally, we should see the girl Shirri and the dwarf to somewhere safe.

So we have some hard choices to make. We should go back to the side we started from and talk to Doc about the situation."

GM:

Nasir thinks to himself.

We clearly need to move fast, but pressing on now right after that drawn out battle is clearly suicide. We'll just see what these backwater aghbia will want to do.

Does this move us to Chapter 3? If so, I get some bonus stuff due to my Intrigued by Thassilon trait.

The Ioun Stone give +2 to Strength and +1 Fortitude. I think either myself or Frantino should use the stone.

I'm going to take Missile Shield as my feat. I think Nasir got a lot of practice trying to block arrows in the last fight and finally got the hang of it at the end after messing up many times. Practice makes perfect and failure is the best teacher!

So how long would it take us to get back to town from here? I know it was many pages back, but I feel like we have only been in the wilderness for less half a day or so.

We decided before that the medallion seems quite useful, and so does the ioun stone, so I don't see us selling either. That's why Frantino is recommending we sell the slippers (2000 gp, sell for half) instead to get another wand. That should leave 250 gp left over, plus the 646 gp in treasure is 896 gp, or 179 gp each.

Frantino is already imbuing his armor with mental focus to give him +2 to strength every day, so it would be better for Nasir until we can afford belts instead. (Frantino can change his imbuement to Con or Dex tomorrow and benefit from the ioun stone, but he thinks it's better for Nasir right now.) Nasir could pass the medallion to Ayita to help her Will save.

Maybe we'll track down the chief, archer, or witch at some point, I assume some of our potential loot ran off with them! The fly spell should have worn off by now.

I would like the group to have more than one heal stick; I can use it, maybe others; we might get separated. I wonder if we could find a partly used-up heal stick for less. Maybe there's a sale on them at... oops don't know why I said that. I always use prestige to get one in regular play, am feeling weird.

This is very little money, if we don't sell the medallion. The medallion is only useful very occasionally, too, for one person. If we sell it, several of us could get things like better armor, which would be useful much more often.

If we sold the stone, too, we could each perhaps get one of those cloaks that help one resist spells, explosions, all those things... instead of one person doing a little more damage.

Nasir talks with Doc about what he found out from examining the witch's body.

"Gregory C. Hatfield, these are concerning findings. I wonder how much the magic in these caves has contributed to this condition. The dwarf not being able to keep food down even though he is hungry seems like it could lead to a similar condition. I think we should leave these caves soon for everyone's safety."

Nasir looks around at the group.

"Here is the situation as I see it. We have 2 injured non-combatants, and we are low on support resources."

He motions to the girl and the dwarf.

"These two need to get to someplace safe, and Roderic's Cove is probably the best place. It will take us a day to get them back, but I fear that will give Corstella and her Order time get their hands on the gauntlet before we can. Hopefully, they will not find this cave easily as I think it leads to a backdoor into the Stone House."

Nasir sighs.

"From all of the conversation, it seems that the unit wants to go back to town to resupply and secure the rescued. Since that's the case, let's get moving and see if we can make it across the river before nightfall. Let us gather all that we will take and move out quickly as camping out on this side of the river will be dangerous with the bandits and remaining goblins about.

Any objections?"

I think this is less of an issue now that we're 3rd level. After we get back to civilization, I finally start getting oracle revelations. (Access to revelations was delayed due to my archetype.) Without the use of any items, every day I'll be able to resolve an average of 73.5 HP of damage via active abilities. I'll also heal 5 HP/round via passive abilities.

The Math:
Trait: Blessed Touch adds +1 to most of my healing
Feat: Reward of Life: +4 HP to me when I use Healer's Way on others

- Healer's Way: 1d6+1; 5/day (avg==22.5 HP or 42.5 if you factor in Reward of Life)
- Cure Light Wounds: 1d8+4; 6/day (avg==51 HP)

Total daily average healing==73.5 HP

That average jumps to 93.5 HP if Healer's Way is only used on others, not on myself.

Given our current set of resources, I think there are other purchases that might be a higher priority than multiple CLW wands. Just my two CP.

After all the time trying to figure out the arcane circle, Hatfield is in the midst of something that looks like a Bollywood dance when Nasir reappears. The herbalists stops, mid-pose. "Hey! It worked!"

Ayita pops into the circle room just after Nasir, sees Doc's position, and goes straight into a Varisian dance.

Shirri! Doc is doing a Kalbelia dance, quick bring your dancing veils!!! There is even a dancing circle here!!!

Ayita starts clapping, encouragingly.

Doc, I'm not sure which of us you were proposing marriage to; just drape Shirri's veil over whoever it is.

Ayita is strongly in favor of going back to town, she wants Shirri safe(r).

"Whut?" the herbalist blurts as he drops the veil.

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Hatfield lets go of the veil and it lands on... Yazhi?!?

Hatfield tosses the veil and it lands on... Yazhi?!?

Yazhi grabs the veil, thinking it's a game. Shirri shrieks and grabs an end; there is a tug-of-war. The tattered veil loses. Yazhi prances around Doc with her new toy...

Ayita's jaw drops.

She accepts!!!

"Whut?" Hatfield notices that a piece of the veil has fallen on the goblin. He decides not to point that out.

Shirri has part of the veil. Does this means there's now a kal-if-fee with the NPC and animal companion?

NEXT UP: Fight to the death between Yazhi and Shirri! Winner gets Doc Hatfield's hand in marriage!

Roscoe agrees with the others that it is time to go back to town and recuperate.

Plus, there is all that gold to divide! Where there's some gold, there's more! More, more more!

"We barely made it through this place. We ought to get these two back to safety and come back once we're better-equipped," he agrees.

"What say you, Frantino Kaddren? It sounds like the group has spoken, but I would still like to hear your answer."

After Frantino's response, Nasir starts moving back out of the cave wary of an ambush. If he sees some arrows on the dead goblins on the way back to the entrance, you will pick up a few to replenish his supply.

Once outside and gathered up, Nasir will hustle the group directly to the river crossing in the hopes of getting there before it's shut down for the night.

He will remain vigilant with sword and shield in hand expecting an ambush at any time from the wounded goblins and the bandits.
