Deluge-Core

Tempted as he is to waddle up to the idiot and give him a good scare, Deluge does not.
Seems like a model pathfinder to me. Curious until dead.
Self? Remind me why you joined this out fit of suicidal miscreants?
Yangrit Foehammer
|
"Wait... Do you not remember our conversation upstairs? We met earlier, when we were summoned by Dean Kreighton Shane to investigate this mess." Yangrit is immediately suspicious of what is going on here. Is this due to a gap in his memory? Is there a duplicate of him? Where did he go when he left the meeting?
Bernard St. Ivre
|
Bernard points at the scroll they found on this sublevel, "Huh? So you read this scroll and those fairies appeared? The ones with the nice voices? Quickly! Xisius, read it out loud again! Make them come back!" he smiles widely, unsure if it's still that creatures spell which has him mesmerized, or the booze. The ranger shrugs it off as a quick joke, and continues, "Sounds like whatever we are encountering in these archives, are coming out of these scrolls. Think about it, we found an albatross and and owl ... the giant bird and worm ... and now that tooth fairy? Whatever is happening must be connected to whatever this rhyme or riddle is." He takes a sip from his flask.
He looks at Virml, "Who are we...? That's doesn't matter - want a drink?" he offers the trapped man his flask.
Pau
|
”Lets finish exploring this place so we can stop any more random creatures appearing out of these scrolls then. Is everyone ready,” Pau asks.
Deluge-Core
|
Deluge signals his assent by swishing his tail over to the dwarf for him to climb aboard.
Xusius
|
Xusius shakes his head and reaches for his wineskin of Sangria. After a hefty pull from it, he say, "Zere zeems to be one door we have not gone through. Let us do zo now. Ze poem meentions a Zir Crocodile."
He looks at Deluge. "Either ze poem predicted zou een zis form or we have a crocodile meesing."
He heads to the door. "We are getting nowhere by going nowhere. Let us go zomewhere."

Virml accepts Bernard's offer of a drink though the gilded bars.
"Thankth." he says in relief.
As the party decides upon his next move though he begins growing concerned. "Uh, guyth, don leaf me!"
Yangrit Foehammer
|
With a grouchy sigh, Yangrit grabs on to Deluge's tail and grumbles: "All right, everyone. Let's go. Oh! Virml, can you swim?"
Deluge-Core
|
I can encourage him is he starts to lag.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
Deluge would have to get into THE BIG METAL CAGE first.
Pau
|
Pau sighs deeply and moves to the cage. He looks to see if anything seems off about the cage, trappy ever.
Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
If nothing jumps out at him, he tries to pull the cage open. If he can’t, Pau looks around for a set of keys to perhaps get the miserable So and so out of the cage.
Deluge-Core

Deluge would have to get into THE BIG METAL CAGE first.
Um. No way. I figured we (and by we, I mean someone else) would get him out of it and he would come with us. But if he really likes that cage, he's welcome to stay there for a while. Could be a fetish!

Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Bernard lets the man hold his liquer, while he takes out his theif tools and starts to pick the lock on the cage. "You owe me a refill, Virml."
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
It seems to be a very tough lock.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
Like it's not opening.

At all.
Yangrit Foehammer
|
Glowering deeply, Yangrit grumbles: "Great. Can we break it, or bend the bars? Rrrgh. We should try it together. Everyone grab one of these two bars if you can, and we'll pull on three. One...two...three!"
Strength Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Ugh! Whose armpit is that? I can hardly move, let alone pull! Arrrgh! The unpleasant dwarf's ruminations are abruptly interrupted by a sudden dunking when the man above her accidentally pushes her head under water. Sputtering in sodden fury, she lunges up and shoves his elbow out of her personal space. "Watch it, you--!" Catching herself, she turns away with a growl, closes her eyes, and takes a series of deep breaths. In a remarkably short time, she is calm, and turns back to apologize. "Sorry. I am worried about his safety, and frustrated by this setback. It was wrong of me to vent my anger on you."
Deluge-Core

Deluge sits back and watches the show for a bit, figuring his new body not much use in the situation, but when he sees Yangrit make such a mess of it he rolls his reptilian eyes and gives it a try. He climbs up and bites the bottom of the cage and dangles there like a limp garment bag on a hanger.

"Errr, if i can get you out - THEN you owe me a drink sir!" he tries as many more times as he has to, or until he completely breaks the lock.
Lock: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Lock: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
He slows down, letting Yangrit blow her frustration out on him. "It
's okay, Ms Foehammer. This is not a usual situation we find ourselves in, save your strength for the swim back." He smiles at the dwarf, not knowing if his words are of any consequence.

Quick note the cage is a big 12-foot-tall, 5-foot diameter iron display case covered in old gold leaf that sits on the floor and is full of stuffed birds. The party is probably not strong enough to move it thought the maze of basement back halls. It certainly won't fit up the spiral stair.

[dice=Lock]1d20+8
Which would have been the very next time. ;) Fortunately... Bernard is finally able to disengage the decorative bird cage's lock.
"Oh thang goodneth!" Virml piles out, along with a number of stuffed birds floating on their sides.
Now where to?
Deluge-Core
|
The group heads towards the one door left on the level. the one located near Xusius' icon.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
This door is closed as well, though nothing is pinned to it with a dagger like the last one.
Bernard St. Ivre
|
"You're welcome. You coming with us?" He follows Deluge up to the door on the left. "Shall we open this one?"
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
If he doesn't see any traps, he opens the door.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
Unlike the other door this one doesn't seem to be broken, nor is it locked. Bernard opens the door on to a room with only a damp floor and several shelves of dusty tomes, some of them quite thick.... The four and half feet of water Bernard and the rest of the party is standing in moves (faster than fans for a Taylor Swift concert) to flood the room, carrying the party with it.
What do you do?
Bernard St. Ivre

Bernard opens the door, and lets some light inside to have a look around. He moves into the room slighly.

Pau slams the door shut against the force of the water.
Pau, are you taking your move action before or after?
Yangrit Foehammer
|
Yangrit gasps as she is towed along behind Deluge in the rush of water, accidentally inhaling the disgusting water. Coughing roughly, she struggles to clear her lungs. Full round action, but she's in the room with the guys. How deep is the water in here now?
Pau
|
I figure me going in the room equated a move so I don’t think I’d have one left after pushing it closed by my thinking.

Gotcha, I just didn't know Pau was moving into the room.

At present, a couple of inches.
"WAY FOWR MEEE!" cries Virml struggling through the deep water.
Hannar I don't think you (or Virml for that matter) have enough movement to get inside within one round. It takes 4 squares to move 1 square (by walking) in a deep bog.
Xusius
|
Xusius surfs into the room as quick as he can ride the watercoaster.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
Pau slams the door shut on Hannar, Virml and the flood of water outside, thereby sparing the room more than a few inches of flooding, and preserving the lowest shelves of books. Normal movement (for those inside) at last.
Now what? Oh, and who's holding the lights?
Pau
|
”Quick! Look through the room and see what you can find while I hold this door. The sooner we find the blasted scroll, we can get out of here!”
Deluge-Core
|
Not Deluge. Though he does have low light vision courtesy of the 'gator form.
Xusius

Xusius will cast Light on his wand of Magic Missile which should help light up the area a bit more. He then moves up to the second bookcase and begins to search it using Detect Magic to guide him.

At Pau's exhortation, Yangrit mutters: "Now that is a good idea." She immediately begins putting her darkvision to good use, peering into the shadowy corners while the others search the areas illuminated by the light spells. Wow, there are a ton of dictionaries in this room. After about a minute worth of walking around the low to the ground Deluge doesn't find any that ate magical. He does find book written in Common called "Village Idiot's Guide to Translating Sylvan" among of series of similarly titled translation books.
Aside from what is on the party there doesn't seem to be any magic in the room, just hundreds and hundreds of dictionaries.
