Deluge is not confused at all. Mr. Fox is a danger to all and must be dealt with. And hopefully the others will do so. He finishes his spell and peeks around the corner, unleashing one of his DC 18 precious bolts of lightning on the crocodile, not liking the way he's looking at him. Besides, the fox looks like he would just dodge out of the way like that annoying fairy squad.

Remember that Pao has an active barkskin on him. It is probably factored into that 21 AC, but I'd like to make sure.

I think he's still going to be hit by that tail (because he was grappled first and grappling does penalize your Dex). I won't be able to deep-dive the subject until later though. Still, there's a chance he doesn't take tail slap damage. Much of the other stuff comes from CMB v CMD, which "armor" doesn't typically help against.

PSRD wrote:

If You Are Grappled

If you are grappled, you can attempt to break the grapple as a standard action by making a combat maneuver check (DC equal to your opponent’s CMD; this does not provoke an attack of opportunity) or Escape Artist check (with a DC equal to your opponent’s CMD). If you succeed, you break the grapple and can act normally. Alternatively, if you succeed, you can become the grappler, grappling the other creature (meaning that the other creature cannot freely release the grapple without making a combat maneuver check, while you can). Instead of attempting to break or reverse the grapple, you can take any action that doesn’t require two hands to perform, such as cast a spell or make an attack or full attack with a light or one-handed weapon against any creature within your reach, including the creature that is grappling you. See the grappled condition for additional details. If you are pinned, your actions are very limited. See the pinned condition in Conditions for additional details.

Grappled Condition
A grappled creature is restrained by a creature, trap, or effect. Grappled creatures cannot move and take a –4 penalty to Dexterity. A grappled creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made to grapple or escape a grapple. In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler’s CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.

Prone Condition
The character is lying on the ground. A prone attacker has a –4 penalty on melee attack rolls and cannot use a ranged weapon (except for a crossbow). A prone defender gains a +4 bonus to Armor Class against ranged attacks, but takes a –4 penalty to AC against melee attacks.

Standing up is a move-equivalent action that provokes an attack of opportunity.

Pau pounds on the creature but it is like punching luggage full of rocks, and the creature is trashing so much that Yangrit can't draw a bead on it with her kama.

Also, though it is at a -2 to hit Pau with its tail (because it is grappled too) the croc can still hit him, as Pau is at -4 to Dex (because of being grappled), and -4 for being prone vs a melee attack.

Alas, Hannar and "the Fox" are both humanoids, so no bonus. He gets bilateral symmetrical humor.

For map purposes, "the Fox" occupies the standard Medium creature, 5' cube directly beneath the ceiling he is on from the PC's perspective. As combat is an abstract thing in D&D (whatever version) he doesn't necessarily need to be standing (though he is not considered prone at present) to still take up some space, and the difference of 2-3 feet can be hand-waved as it would be for a Small-sized character who was standing straight.

Better get this out of the way hopefully. I've failed too many of these things in this session. Wish I had some Hero Points!

Knock it off, guys. You know Deluge can't run all that fast.

Hannar shakes free of his belly laughs, just as Xusius seems to get the punchline. The elf collapses to the floor amid peels of laughter.

Bernard's arrow misses the slippery fox and instead strikes the ceiling mural, making it look like the gnome's head has been transfixed by the shaft right through the ear.

Deluge rains lightning down upon the white crocodile, just as Yangrit winds up, and punches the crocodile on the nose causing its eyes to roll up into its head.

gray reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

The thing collapses threatening to squash her and Pau both with its great bulk, but when it hits it explodes into a swirl of pale vellum the same color as the cursed scroll. It whirls about like a tornado before fizzling out into small motes of dimming fairy dust that rise up through the ceiling as if it wasn't there.

"Oh bother." says the Fox looking down at the dissipating crocodile. "I suppose I'll just have to escape back into the library again and then we can begin the chase anew. HA!"

"You there, Hannar was it? Be a sport, and clear the door for me. I can't very well exit with everyone standing around right there, now can I?" he says suggesting a course of action to the sorcerer backed up by words of magic.

Hannar Will save (DC 17) vs the suggestion.

He scuttles down from the ceiling like an athletic spider monkey, lands, draws his rapier with a flourish. At the same time he swirls his cape dramatically about him which causes a bit of distortion in the nearby air (granting him concealment (20% miss chance) against ranged attacks).

1d100 ⇒ 86
1 Deluge, 2 Hannar, 3 the Fox: 1d3 ⇒ 1

"WHY WON'T THEY LEAVE ME ALONE!" Virml screams before throwing himself upon Deluge.

Virml unimproved grapple v Deluge: 1d20 ⇒ 17 hit, possibly depending upon what if anything Deluge has in his hands, and what he may or may not do with it.

"That might work too, I suppose." muses the Fox to himself.

He doesn't believe in 'game balance'. Gandalf always lets him pass. As a feat, he has Exotic Weapon Proficiency (beard). The city guard often question him, just because they find him so interesting. His dice bag is woven from tarrasque leather. His TPKs end game lines. His blood cures moderate wounds. He once punched a flumph. Yes, you heard me. He belongs to a prestige class whose sole requirement for entry is just being him. ♬ He is indeed, the most interesting GM in the world. ♬

Bernard is still a loonie. "Ring-ding-ding-ding-deringdering!"

The Fox looks at Bernard and sniffs.
