You go back toward the bustling bathhouse and inn (and restaurant, and massage parlor, etc., etc).
Though no longer invisible by then, Major Kort walks around the building and identifies at least six folks who seem to be watching the building. A couple of guards in uniform among them.
Are the others sightseers? Bored workers on their coffee breaks? Super secret spies hunting for the party? He has no idea - and that is perhaps the problem. It's a busy city, and your place of residence an extremely popular destination with people streaming in and out of various entrances.

Mallë-o i Otos Elen |

Elen uses her sleeves to cover up any bloodshed upon her before leaving the coffee house and makes her way casually back toward the bustling bathhouse and inn (and restaurant, and massage parlor, etc., etc).
"... say nothing." She casually enters the building as she normally would, and heads for the suite set aside for the group hoping the others will follow nonchalantly.
Later in the suite with a cricket if we make it that far...
"What is the best course of action here? At first I thought Kathann was in on it after that debacle of training, but after seeing that there are rakshasas involved I have my doubts that she is a participant. We can watch those watching the Inn, but so far I don't believe that the authorities have any reason to suspect us of anything. It will be interesting to see what they make of the remains... We'll have to wait to use the monkey head sending. It's really not optimal, the distance between us. What do you all think? Do you think Kathann is in danger? Should I send her a dream tonight?"

Kamari |

While returning to their lodging Kamari keeps an eye out for the real Gannius.
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Kamari follows Elen back to the room and pulls out her cricket.
"I think there is an iron fist on this city, but I don't Kathann is in danger. The real Gannius might even be alive still. His death wasn't confirmed prior to arrival. Perhaps he will reach out to us."
"We should do our best to communicate with Kathann, but I suspect we're on our own at this point."

Mallë-o i Otos Elen |

”I hope you are right, Kamari – about Kathann’s safety. I keep thinking about the unexpected malfunction of the simulation equipment." She ponders for a moment. "I could also use the dream to contact the real Gannius himself – if he is out there, if he does not resist. We could pick a time and place, and I can ask him to meet us there. Failing that if we decide to try it, we need a back up plan.”
She looks around for ideas. "Start at the spice shop again?"

Major K'Aldrian Kort 1ATD, Ret. |

She looks around for ideas. "Start at the spice shop again?"
"You're right. We should go back. Something obviously isn't right. If there is nothing there, we'll try alternate means to find Kathann."

Muri Daybreaker |

"I like that cricket." Muri looks visibly more comfortable when Kamari cloaks their collective conversation, and he can speak more freely, regarding their recent escapade.
"Should we have left the signet ring? So the Sentinels might have started wondering? Or is it our proof, when the time comes?" Muri frowns in thought, as he turns from the Professor, to Kamari.
"I think Gannaius is dead. If what the Professor tells us about rakshasa, his death was probably horrible. Milon was willing to wear his face to meet with us, and he might have been doing so already, with others. We were lucky to meet him as a group. If a Lion Blade met with him privately, it was probably a snake-and-egg encounter."
"Elen, if you can try and contact Gannaius, it might help us find some hope. Otherwise, we're the only presence of the Lion Blades in Zimar, I think. Milon didn't press us for names. Probably because he didn't need names." Muri wonders some more.

You check out the various entries before heading in and quickly up to your rooms, though you pass by some of the baths, which smell wonderful - and oh how the heated steam will loosen tight muscles. Mmmm.
You enter your rooms, lock the door, fire up the cricket, and plan, though you’re not sure what to do with the information you have.
Though I mentioned it earlier, and again, I’ll bring it up once more. In your deliberations, remember the portfolio that Gannaius, I mean Milon was writing in when you arrived. It looked like he was finishing a letter…

Mallë-o i Otos Elen |

Why do these baths seem so tempting? Never take what your enemy appears to offer freely...
"Yes, I think I will try to contact Gannaius later this evening, just to see if there is a response. Why don't we go over Milon's portfolio in the mean time? Maybe it will provide a clearer path forward."
Elen opens the case and lays out the papers for everyone to puruse.

Muri Daybreaker |

Muri pulls up a chair, then proceeds to leap up much the same way he does when mounting Underfoot, using the back of the chair like the pommel of the saddle. It gives him a surveyor's vantage of the contents of the portfolio. He defers to the Professor's bookish leanings, as well as Hildedelmira's upper educational airs. He stays out of their way, while feeling more comfortable elbow-to-elbow with Kamari and Elen, who feel more like kindred extroverted classmates. He only reaches for paperwork which hasn't been handled, and handily offers what paperwork he holds if someone else finds it more interesting than he does.
He specifically does not handle the Milon letter itself, figuring it will be read aloud, figures it will begin 'Dear, milord Pythareus...'

The documents in the portfolio contain Milon Jeroth’s notes about the current operations in the War for the Crown, including the identities of a few moles among Eutropia’s own supporters! Oh the things that can be done with this information - especially if you share it quickly to Lady Lotheed and Kathann. This information alone is a huge boon to the Queen.
The portfolio focuses heavily on his most powerful resources within Zimar and contains enough information to find three main camps of, ah, imperial supporters - or at least Milon supporters.
- He has a safe house in an old manor in the Golden District called the Waterhill Manor. The luxurious hillside manor serves as a hostel for his spies as well as himself. Who knows what evidence might be found there if you moved quickly.
- The Sweet Dreams Tea Shop, run by a lovely woman named Estella, is actually a front. Estella, and her two sisters, are apparently agents who can descend into people’s dreams and pluck their very thoughts. And they are selling this information to Milon cheaply or perhaps even freely.
- There is a mysterious monastery that one or two of you might have heard of… The Seven Forms of Sin. Milon is apparently a leader in their teachings including wonten feasting, theft, orgies, and murder. All to help fulfill their path to enlightenment. There’s enough information in the portfolio to deduce its location in the sewers beneath the city.
A hundred years ago it was simply the Monastery of Seven Forms - teaching an understanding of combat and self-discipline. Then they changed under a charismatic young monk who bested them all and taught a new path. Over the decades, they descended deeper and deeper into sin and depravity until murder was just another task set by the monastic leadership.
- - -
The portfolio also contains a wealth of operational passwords and codenames. Enough to grant you a +5 circumstance bonus to checks (bluff & disguise) to convince someone you’re a part of Milon’s organization if you so chose. That would take further study first of course (a few hours) - but it’s early in the day yet.
You also find a letter (image), which Milon hadn’t had time to send having just finished it when you arrived.
The Immaculate Circle shall be victorious. The high strategos proves quite pliable and receptive to ideas that sate his desperation and ambition in equal measure. The citizens are ready to tear each other apart, and when Pythareus emerges victorious, it will take only the gentlest shove to topple him, and I have secured the ideal prod in my home, under guard of the Sarenites, with the killing blow in the mitts of the grubby King of Filth himself.
A few complications remain - agents loyal to Pythareus against all reason. They must be dealt with.
And there are still a few other hindrances on our path to victory. Pythareus’s damnable diviner has blundered into the sisters’ dealings and may soon locate the Sweet Dreams Tea Shop. Now that their research is completed, we should focus our efforts on relocating them to a more secure location. That diviner is too damned esoteric to give anyone her true loyalties, and her second sight makes her near impossible to blackmail. Perhaps it is better to simply let the sisters do as they will.
My own personal agents in Waterhill have had difficulty in swaying Pythareus’s majordomo, Baron Astor, and now stamp and fume to replace him with one of my own. I feel the scrutiny the high strategos keeps him under makes this hasty course seem childishly impulsive. We shall bide our time.
Pythareus’s little cult and its enumerator, Iovinus, have likewise proved intractable. Whoever would imagine an Abadaran would feel himself above a bribe. So be it. The Seven Forms of Sin are eager enough for my coin instead, and have places to stash his corpse. I await only your approval.
Immortally loyal,
Milon Jeroth

It’s maybe 11am on Arodus 27, a Moonday, when you’re done looking things over. There’s more to be studied if you wish (the passwords and codenames), or you could do something else with your time. You do know that Milon Jeroth is going to be missed and, with his transformation, his ‘human’ body will never be found.
Maybe not right away, but soon enough, a search of the city is likely. A search in which you’ll be questioned closely simply for being outsiders. It would be better if you could avoid that scrutiny. You expect it’ll take a few days to get to that point - but the clock is indeed running.
So what’s the plan?

Edelmira nods at the Professor Major’s mention of assassins. ”Unsurprising assassins would be involved, as they would be ideal for clearing out the Lion Blades. Seven Forms of Sin, though? Sounds like this lot has some sort of theme. How tiresome. I am certain rich clients love that sort of drama.”
She continues on to the letter, and her mind immediately begins racing. ”The Immaculate Circle…that is the same group behind Vadriggan Pol and the Cult of the Twilight Child! And Pythareus is just a patsy in a long term scheme?” She taps her knuckled against her chin. ”Yes…this is all coming together now. It seemed odd that his faction would go so far to resurrect the prince, which would just weaken his claim. It sounds outlandish, but it does answer some questions.”

Kamari |

"This Immaculate Circle seems everything but immaculate. I worry for all of Taldor should they succeed."
"I believe we should start with the Sweet Dreams Tea Shop. If their divinations are as good as reported, they likely already know of our involvement. I'd be curious to try to learn what their true intentions are. There is time left in the day and it would give us more to report on tomorrow."

Major K'Aldrian Kort 1ATD, Ret. |

”Yeah, the Immaculate Circle again. They seem to be behind everything, don’t they?” Professor Kart says forcibly unstiffly. ”I agree with wise Kamari on starting with the Tea Shop. Stopping their visions might aid us in our next actions.”

”These sisters, I wonder if it is too late to sheild ourselves from their efforts to infiltrate our dreams. I wonder if Kathann and Gannius – if he is alive – has such protections. I can try Kathann tonight, and let her know the most important bits of information we’ve discovered from this portfolio. Failing that, I’m not sure what to do. I guess we could use the monkey to tell her to take a nap midday or something… and I can try again.”
”Maybe I am overthinking it. Tea sounds better than sewers. Best to neutralize that threat first.”

Thinking of cleanliness then, you follow Kamari's plan and proceed to the Sweet Dreams Tea shop - apparently a front for all sorts of ill dealings, and tea! It’s a relatively well known place, and knowledge local is strong in the party, so you already know they sell charms tea, herbs, and the sorts of things people buy in the hopes of being able to sleep better. The shop was founded by Eudocia of Zeno, but was recently transferred to her niece, Estella (a fabricated identity as you now know).
The tea shop is rather large, as you do a quick walk by of the building. Apparently they warehouse on the premises as there are large warehouse doors on the west side of the structure. The large shop with a southern entrance even has a well windowed area for sampling the excellent teas, along with a few biscuits or other delectables if you wish.
Through the window as you walk by you see a young Taldan woman setting out new product on the shelves and generally tidying up. There is no one else in the shop at present. Your information is that this Estella (if that's who that is) and her two sisters routinely provide the information gleaned from people's minds throughout the city.
Milon didn't have to guess what people thought - he knew! What an advantage, to know who your enemies are, who are truly allied, or at least enthralled, with you. To know what the opposition is thinking in any given negotiation.

Major Kort neither sees, nor senses, anything particularly amiss. Just a storekeeper, keeping store.
You pass by examining your map and return to the entrance. Elen, alone or with others, enters the shop. The woman turns (image) with a mug of hot tea in one hand as she idly ‘fronts’ the merchandise on the shelves with her other.
”Why hello my dear, and welcome to our humble tea shop. Did you have something in mind or, er,” she glances at Elen’s map, ”is there something I can do for you?” She holds Elen’s eyes a bit longer in her own than is comfortable, but perhaps you’re just on edge.
What do you say and who goes with Elen inside? It’s a very large shop - plenty of room.

Muri and Underfoot kindly keep out of the tea shop for now, allowing Elen et al's pass to be more of a first pass, hopefully. She trundles the pair of you, and any who come with you, up a couple short steps to a lovely little niche of tables. The windows overlook the pedestrians, and as few people really look up while they’re walking, it’s rather private for all the sightseeing. ”You wait here.” she demands in about as friendly a tone as you can imagine.
She heads behind a counter and through a small door to the back. You hear the hustle and bustle of tea being prepared - the clatter of fine ceramic and metal. It does take her a few minutes - anything you want to do in that time?

Muri marks the local streets and alleys for ease of passage, before returning his attention to his external partner, Kamari. Underfoot has already decided she's more interested in giving Kamari's boots a good sniffing, then lifting her head to parse out what might be the remaining fumes of Dark Reaver on the swordswoman's breath.
"Are you feeling better? It takes me back to early days, when little teeth gifted me a blue pearl." As he speaks of pearls, he produces his pillbox, and proceeds to whisper three words, activating all three pearls for the briefest of seconds. "Venenum? Morbus? Latebras?"
"I've got to get used to telling it to glow. It doesn't do it all by itself."
The halfling regards the Tea Shop. "Do you think this is the Sanguine Brothers all over again? Feels like we're coming full Circle." Muri does his best to speak vaguely, hoping Kamari-turned-Katherine understands his practice at subterfuge.

Kamari scratches Underfoot's head and nods at Muri.
"Yes, there do appear to be recurring themes in our lives. My lack of knowledge about such things makes it even more frustrating."
She taps Koriana's blade to be reassured.

The delightful Estella, for that is how she introduces herself upon her triumphant return a few minutes later, sets down an enormous silver tray. It’s laden with cookies and sweets and savories of all sorts - the sort that will accompany a variety of teas well of course. There are cups for each of you, and little tiny pots with hinged lids with a half dozen teas or so for you to sample (loose leaf of course, and there are tea spoons, also with hinged lids, to seep the tea.
She chatters away politely, describing each tea as she and showing you how the tall pot of hot water in the center of the tray works. ”Don’t worry about the water cooling - it’s magic!” she adds with bubbly enthusiasm. She shows you how to cool the water for some of the teas so you don't scorch them, but most take the water straight up.
She may be some sort of horrible evil creature, but it’s clear she enjoys her teas! The shop is more than just a cover - or has become so for Estella clearly.
Nothing untoward will happen, unless you cause it (which seems to be the plan), so carry on - or complete the tea without incident.

Professor Kart approves of 'Muri's' use of the pillbox, thinking it timely and well needed at the moment. He feels reassured by the enchantments.

Edelmira knows this is probably going to hurt, especially given the fact that she has an entire suit of metal full plate hidden in her clothes, but the pain is part of what will sell it. With one of the cooler teas in cup and saucer on one hand, she moves to set the pot on the table and enacts her plan, subtly jostling the table with her foot as she does so. She then plays at panic, throwing the contents of her cup all over her dress.

As for Edelmira, it’s more of a sleight of hand I think, or performance, but it’s a good roll either way. Edelmira pushes past Estella, trundling down the few stairs, past the sales counter and to the door to the back.
”Oh, don’t fuss so. A damp cloth is all you need, and the warehouse is strictly not permitted.” Estella takes a dish-towel and dampens it from the heated water. She wafts it to cool a brief moment before following Edelmira to the door. ”Here.” She offers the cloth to Edelmira.
She moves quickly, as if concerned about Edelmira’s dress, but not hastily - she doesn’t seem generally worried about Edelmira going in the back. She also seems to be wondering exactly who you are underneath it all. She's paying very close attention to all of you, as if trying to peel you like an onion.

Weapon Equipped = +2 A.C. Longbow
Condition(s) = None
Underfoot
AC = 27
HP = 89/89
Weapon Equipped = Teef
Condition(s) = None
Muri commands Underfoot to enter and take to the corner for a moment, while he sizes up the room, and the woman pointing a finger at Hildegaard.
Spellcraft v DC 22/23: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
As Kamari darts forward, Muri turns back, closing the shop doors, a light sense of deja vu passing between his ears, as if they were back in the Kunefe dealing with headless rakshasa all over again.
If he has enough time, he'll also draw his bow, and ready himself for hostility.

The Night Swan |

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Edelmira had been expecting a dramatic gesture—perhaps not this dramatic—but still she is steeled for it. Her resolve dissipates the worst of the spell, and she turns around and smiles. ”I was about to complain, but I think this country would honestly be improved if every snotty noble was finger of death’d when they treated humble service workers poorly. So good show. Be the change you want to see.” She claps softly and slowly.
She then completes her lightning-fast transformation into her alter ego over the next several seconds.
”But unfortunately for you, despite our play-acting, I am no snotty noble. And you are no humble service worker.”

Oh. You're all waiting on me!
Major Kort tucks his head down and double moves into a more advantageous position. Elen rolls down the steps and thwacks poor Estella, leaving her flatfooted - though a healthy DR (10) applies. Muri quietly closes the doors behind him and readies his bow. Edelmira changes quickly into the Night Swan! Kamari tumbles past the flat footed woman and stabs her in the back though DR applies there too.
”Oh, deary me, you’re getting blood on my tea! And it’s mine!” She gives a two-toned whistle, 5’ steps, and casts… Oh my, who is the most dangerous of you? It’s really hard to know - you’re all so well equipped!”
She casts a spell. Edelmira, Elen, Kamari: 1d3 ⇒ 3 … Kamari please make a DC 16 Will save or suffer a –4 penalty on attack rolls, saves, ability checks, and skill checks.
- - -
And then, quite unfairly, she disappears! I’ve left her on the map at her last known location.
- - -
You hear something large shifting from within the warehouse somewhere.
- Round 2 -
Major Kort - 19
Elen - 18+
Muri - 18-
Edelmira - 14
Kamari - 8
Estella - 7 (-22hp)
Next up - everyone!
