GM Watery Soup |

Okay, I think I've found the best way to adjust the encounter CR. The only retcon is in the players' favor - the CON drain is -2 rather than -6.
Melea launches an arrow into the mohrg.
Palakar shouts some discouraging words at the mohrg. "Digestive regularity! Resurrection!" The third word doesn't seem to affect the mohrg, but the mohrg definitely finds the first two to be particularly weird.
Round 2!
Mohrg (Black icon, -76 hp, grappler)
Kahwen
Palakar
Melea
Mykel
Elado
Vaylen (-14 hp, -2 CON, grappled, paralyzed)
Wraith Spawn (Red icon, +5 hp)
Wraith Spawn (Yellow icon)
Wraith Spawn (Blue icon)

![]() |

Paralyzed, his life force draining from him as the undead feast upon his very essence, the only regret Vaylen has is that he didn't try sleeping with Dalessa, Senator Augustyn Naran's wife...
My Stat block has been updated. Looking dire folks. If things go well, it was great playing with you all...
*EDIT* Updated for the retcon, and it's not looking as dire before, but still not great.

![]() |

Handle Animal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Ha! Cancel that part, then. I need to invest more into Handle Animal, or Galilah's Int.

![]() |

Though it goes against every instinct he has, since he knows just how dangerous this is, Kahwen steps between the gross skeleton intestine thing and the creepy flying shadow.
Then he waits, calling out to Mykel. "Friend Mykel, stand over Friend Vaylen to protect him, and get into flank," he calls out.
+1 elven curve blade plus Flank plus Haste: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 18
Slashing plus Sneak Attack plus Dirty Fighter: 1d10 + 10 + 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 10 + (1, 6) + 1 = 21
Haste Attack -
+1 elven curve blade plus Flank plus Haste: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 23
Slashing plus Sneak Attack plus Dirty Fighter: 1d10 + 10 + 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 10 + (5, 5) + 1 = 26
I'm assuming it's immune to bleed (as an undead) but if it's not, my Sneak Attacks do 3 Bleed damage.
And if either hits, I'm using Debilitating Injury to apply Disoriented which will give him a -2 to attacks in general and a -4 to attacks against me for one round. If both hit it lasts 2 rounds.

ah..i missed the part where i can stand in Vaylen's square...derp...i moved my token over top of Vaylen's on the map btw...
Mykel steps over Vaylen's still body, hoping he is still breathing. He unleashes a fury of honed steel at the creature. He then readies to fend off any attacks.
attack: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 14 + 1 = 281d8 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 5 = 19
attack2: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 = 221d8 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 5 = 13
hasted: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 14 + 1 = 261d8 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 5 = 19

GM Watery Soup |

Mykel steps up and slashes the mohrg twice, severing its tongue and then beheading it!
Elado: Yes, wraiths are incorporeal.
Round 2!
Mohrg (Black icon, -114 hp)
Kahwen (revised action needed)
Palakar
Melea
Mykel
Elado (requests to fireball)
Vaylen (-14 hp, -2 CON, paralyzed)
Wraith Spawn (Red icon, +5 hp)
Wraith Spawn (Yellow icon)
Wraith Spawn (Blue icon)

![]() |

Are the wraiths incorporeal? Kawhen, how do you feel about a DC 17 fireball?
I can hit that DC 75% of the time. And if I don't, I should have enough HP to survive it. Kind of a mixed answer...so to be clear - feel free to fireball away.
Kahwen finds his target detongued and decapitated before he can strike.
"Well struck, Friend Mykel!" he crows.
He turns to strike the red tinged wraith next to him, instead.
+1 elven curve blade: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Slashing: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

![]() |

I just messed with the template and can only really get 2 of them without involving Mykel. Seems not worth the risk so I'll just snowball.
Elado gathers up a snowball and sends it at the red-tinged wraith.
Intensified snowball ranged touch: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
damage: 7d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 1, 3, 6, 5) + 8 = 33

GM Watery Soup |

Red feels about half the fury that Kahwen and Elado unleash.
---
Red touches Mykel. Mykel parries, and successfully ripostes! Red goes down!
Yellow touches Kahwen.
Yellow Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Negative: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Blue steps and touches Mykel.
Blue Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Negative: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Mykel, please make a DC 17 Fort save.
Round 2!
Mohrg (Black icon, -114 hp)
Kahwen
Palakar
Melea
Mykel DC 17 Fort
Elado
Vaylen (-14 hp, -2 CON, paralyzed)
Wraith Spawn (Red icon, -28 hp)
Wraith Spawn (Yellow icon)
Wraith Spawn (Blue icon)

![]() |

Elado opts for a different approach with these ghostly ghastlies and summons darts of force at the blue-hued wraith.
magic missile: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 2) + 4 = 15

GM Watery Soup |

You were attacked twice - if you have combat reflexes amd additional panache, you can parry the second attack.

GM Watery Soup |

Round 3! Elado's magic missiles thud into the wraith for full damage.
Mohrg (Black icon, -114 hp)
Kahwen
Palakar
Melea
Mykel (-1 hp)
Elado
Vaylen (-14 hp, -2 CON, paralyzed)
Wraith Spawn (Red icon, -28 hp)
Wraith Spawn (Yellow icon)
Wraith Spawn (Blue icon, -15 hp)

![]() |

Mykel lashes out at the wraith in front of him with a flurry of metal.
attack: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 1 = 291d8 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 5 = 13
attack2: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 1 = 111d8 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 5 = 18
hasted: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 1 = 161d8 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 5 = 14
He then takes a step to help out Kahwen and readies to parry an attack.
5ft step...1 panache used...
edit...3 feaking 1's in a row? gimme a break RNG!!

GM Watery Soup |

Mykel drops Blue.
Mohrg (Black icon, -114 hp)
Kahwen
Palakar
Melea
Mykel (-1 hp)
Elado
Vaylen (-14 hp, -2 CON, paralyzed)
Wraith Spawn (Red icon, -28 hp)
Wraith Spawn (Yellow icon)
Wraith Spawn (Blue icon, -29 hp)
The RNG has been low on both sides. Look back at all the touch attacks that the mohrg and wraiths have missed!

GM Watery Soup |

I don't anticipate the wraith will survive until its turn. :)

![]() |

Melea steps into the cellar and fires again, uncaring about the wraith's resistances.
+1 Adaptive Longbow (Haste, PBS, Bane): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (7) + (4, 3) + 6 = 20/2 = 10

![]() |

I'll wait until Kahwen goes first. Use up infinite swords before finite performance rounds. If he doesn't finish off the last one, I'll send some words at it. Probably only 2 words, but we'll see.

![]() |

There is a manic look in Kahwen's eyes as undead horrors begin to fall (dissipate?) around him. "I love being a Pathfinder!" he declares as this well oiled machine faces what would be a terrible threat to most people.
The fact that he's still feeling the rush (literal) of Haste probably doesn't hurt his mood.
He steps to the side, leaving an opening for someone else to get into a flanking position if the wraith just happens to survive his round.
+1 elven curve blade plus Haste : 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 1 = 14 Slashing: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Hasted +1 elven curve blade plus Haste: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 1 = 29 Slashing: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

GM Watery Soup |

Mohrg (Black icon, -114 hp)
Kahwen
Palakar
Melea
Mykel (-1 hp)
Elado
Vaylen (-14 hp, -2 CON, paralyzed)
Wraith Spawn (Red icon, -28 hp)
Wraith Spawn (Yellow icon, -18 hp)
Wraith Spawn (Blue icon, -29 hp)
The Mortal Kombat theme begins playing. "FINISH HIM!" echos from nowhere.
---
Unless something goes fantastically wrong, it's just a question of how many rounds of performance Palakar expends to finish off the wraith (the wraith has TAC 18 and 10 hp left so you don't have to wait for my adjudication). Vaylen will become un-paralyzed after a few minutes, and if y'all want to move things along, y'all can start to discuss healing.

![]() |

Seeing its weakened state and wanting to conserve words, but realizing the consequences if it misses, Palakar launches two words at the wraith spawn.
Word One ranged touch: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 1 = 14 | Word One Damage: 4d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 3) + 6 + 1 = 21
Word Two ranged touch: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 10 + 1 = 23 | Word Two Damage: 4d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 4) + 6 + 1 = 19
Facepalm. Sorry guys. But I'm gonna stay honest on this. I declared two, and they all have to be launched at once, so that's all you get. So much for conserving ammo. Only the low-damage word hit, so it's still at 1hp.

GM Watery Soup |

Uh, yeah ... I vote we not do a whole other round with one enemy at one hit point. If you really want to flog yourself, I say charge yourself three rounds of performance.
Vaylen recovers after a few minutes. It's the long awaited answer to a long and painful fight.
Please discuss healing and restoration amongst yourselves and make sure your tag lines are updated (i.e., if Vaylen's Con damage doesn't get healed, he should have fewer max HP).
The two corpses along the wall are clearly female, but their faces have been mutilated beyond recognition - and it appears that their lower jaws have been ripped off.
The morhg wears a gold ring studded with tiny but flawed sapphires and rubies worth 2,500 gp.
I think the mechanics of the overall search are FUBARed (sorry), so decide what you want to do, and I'll figure out a way for it all to make sense mechanically.

![]() |

Picking himself up off the ground with shaky legs, Vaylen tries to play down the amount of danger he was in, though to his comrades the veneer of his brash arrogance seems cracked for the first time.
"Not the kind of affections I was hoping to be on the receiving end of this evening. Nevertheless, I appreciate everyone's timely and skilled assistance."
Pulling out my Wand of Cure Light Wounds I'll have Palakar or Melea hit me a few times with it.
Cure Light Wand 1: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Cure Light Wand 2: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Cure Light Wand 3: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Cure Light Wand 4: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
That will get me up to full with 4 charges used off my Wand of Cure Light Wounds. My stat block has been adjusted to reflect my current status with the -2 Con Drain, assuming I now have time to put my armor on properly.

![]() |

Here...can this be of use to you? It can help with the life sucking that you took... Mykel asks, holding out a scroll.lesser restoration if you want it...handy to have...and will adjust my armour to negate the penalty

![]() |

Melea takes the job of fixing Vaylen's more minor injuries. "We will see if the proprietors have something to restore your stamina when we alert them to this," she says to the elf. "Did you see where they came from, what they were doing before the attack?"

![]() |

"I thank you Mykel, but I think I'll be able to soldier forth. Us Graystones are made of stern stuff."
Unfortunately Lesser Restoration doesn't do anything for ability Drain, but thank you regardless!
"I entered the cellar to thoroughly search it, while taking the opportunity to refresh my wine of course, and the door dears here were already dead, having had their faces and more eaten by the undead menaces. Not real indication that I could see as to how they got here unseen, though a search of the cellar more may be warranted. Maybe there's a secret passage or something that let them in underground..."

![]() |

Kahwen spends a moment examining the bodies, trying without much hope and less success to identify them.
"The shadowy ones could have just come in through the walls, couldn't they?" he says to Vaylen's question. "That doesn't explain the bony one, though."
He moves around the perimeter of the chamber and back and forth across the floor, looking for signs of secret passages or hidden trapdoors.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Something occurs to him about halfway through and he looks up at the stairs, thoughtfully.
"Isn't it strange that no one seems to have noticed 2 missing servants? What if it doesn't seem like they're missing? What if somethings looking very much like these two are still walking around and looking to cause trouble?"
Unless he finds a passage, Kahwen rushes back up stairs, looking for Orielle.

GM Watery Soup |

Kahwen runs off ... Where are the rest of you?

![]() |

Melea beckons Vaylen to accompany her. She heads off in search of Major Maldris, if he isn't still busy with the speech, so she can report.
...And maybe requisition a Restoration.

GM Watery Soup |

Maldris meets you as you try to slip back into the dining hall. "What was all that infernal shouting about?" His annoyance turns to concern as you describe what you found.
"It's quite possible that we have some infiltrators among the serving staff," he muses. "You can't disturb the guests any more than you already have, but you must find out what's going on. Mingle a little while I talk about this with Lady Morilla."
He slips everyone back into the dining room.
"... with the support of the Inner Sea's most prominent and most generous families. Thank you." Genedair's speech comes to an end, and the guests clap politely.
Damian Blakros stands and invites everyone into the salon (Area 4). "Ladies and gentlemen, please join me for a digestif in the salon."
Kahwen tracks down Orielle, but she's very busy serving drinks. "I'm sorry, I can't talk right now. Two of our servers disappeared so we're short staffed."
You have an opportunity to make another Influence check.

![]() |

Kahwen is relieved when he finds Orielle. He was more than a little worried that she was one of the bodies in the basement with no face.
He's also perversely relieved that the servers are missing. That means that they haven't been replaced, though he supposes that doesn't mean someone else hasn't been replaced.
"Be careful. There is trouble afoot. Don't go anywhere alone and don't go anywhere with just one person unless someone else can see you. And where this," he says, slipping a ring off one of his fingers and handing it to her. It is simple silver but is heavily runed and he is now a little easier to hit.
He hurries to the salon. This is no longer a fun game of manipulation or a simple banquet, this is now serious and dangerous business.
And as his first captain always said: "When things get desperate - Lie!"
Kahwen spots Lord Kerkis and addresses him. "Can you believe what Lady Vaelia said? Accusing Abasalom of being pretentious because it is called the 'City at the Center of the World?' I have half a mind to tell her that, even if it's not, the Center of the World certainly isn't in Taldane!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Kahwen is loaning Orielle his Ring of Protection +1...not that it will do her a lot of good. That puts his AC, with his hastily donned armor at 21

GM Watery Soup |

Orielle gasps at the ring. "Thank you thank you thank you!"
Kahwen can find a minute to re-adjust his armor. The only thing that prevented it earlier was the urgency of Maldris pulling you aside.
---
"I'm glad to see you fully dressed," Lord Kerkis jokes.
Lord Kerkis puts on a stoic face when Kahwen mentions Lady Vaelia, but underneath his steely exterior is some anger. "For too long, we have let Taldor take the lead in international matters. It's time for the rest of the Inner Sea to assert our leadership - rest assured, you can count on the support of House Damaq in the upcoming campaign."
+1 Influence
Throughout the conversation, Kahwen struggles to remember who the missing servers are. He has trouble remembering, as all the ones he remembers are present. As a matter of fact, Kahwen does not notice two servers missing. One, maybe. Maybe even zero.

![]() |

As Rothos is no longer occupied, Palakar will head to him.
Wearing a +1 Mithril Shirt worked together with the courtier's outfit. Also has a small darkwood shield on her back.
Lord Rothos, an honor to meet you. Though I admit my skill with a blade cannot match my companions, a veteran such as yourself is certainly familiar with the necesities of the signal corp. And right now, the call is for an advance on the World Wound. Our forces are as ready as they can be, and our enemy has been left to their own devices for too long. With your voice added in I am sure we can send forth an army that will push these demons back to the Abyss.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (19) + 22 = 41

![]() |

"For the good of all," Melea agrees with Palakar. She has followed along to talk with Lord Rothos. "While I doubt my superiors wish us to pass along this information, you seem the best suited person here for it. We just had an escapade elsewhere in the manner, during the speech. It featured something, like demons, rarely allowed to a wedding. Would you like to hear about it?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

![]() |

Elado tries to follow along, Yes, the worldwound opening would be a likely trigger for the increased demon activity. Worth investigating, wouldn't you say, Lord Rothos?
diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

GM Watery Soup |

Palakar: "A call to arms! I have not heard that for some time, but it is most welcome. Count the First Guard as the nucleus 9f the strike team!"
+4 Influence
Melea: Lord Rothos seems displeased at you circumventing orders from a superior officer, but he would love to hear a story about fighting.
+1 Influence
Elado: Lord Rothos listens to Melea's story and yawns at all the parts with magic.
+0 Influence
Spreadsheet updated. Vaylen, if you would like to heal your Con damage for 4 PP instead of an Influence check, I will say that one of the Society leaders has access to restoration and can heal you in a side room.

![]() |

Sure, I'll take that deal. 4PP to get a restoration cast to eliminate my Con drain.
