Hello everyone and thanks for joining.

I'm going to ask you for two things off the bat once we have everything ready:

Your Downtime Earn Income roll.
Your initial schools' item(s).

If you're not aware of your options please check the Pathfinder Training section in the organized play guide.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 32

Initial schools items from 3 points in swords: 2 x minor healing potion

So how does downtime Earn Income work with quests? I get 2 hours of downtime, right, so do I roll once I've gotten my 8th hour, or do I roll now and get the rewards after enough quests/scenarios to hit 8 hours?

I believe you mean two days, not hours. You roll for income for the two days downtime a quest gives you. Three days if you're a field-commissioned agent. 8 days is the max number of days for a single Earn Income check.

Edit. In other words, please roll now. This helps me get this out of the way instead of doing it at the end of the quest when everything has slowed down and allows me to give you your chronicle sheets faster (48-72 hours, depending on work).

Aha, yeah, I meant days. Had a look at the Earn Income rules and I understand it now.

Bert will use Lore (Labor): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 which he's trained in.

I complained on the forums about the way that the opening scene to this quest has been written. It's mighty confusing.

Questions:

1.) Why are there Frostfurs scampering around? Why don't we see them when we first arrive?

2.) Why does the half-orc bring the dog? Why not just get us himself?

3.) What the hell is the cord that is pulled? Is it a bell, a leash for the dog - what?

4.) Who is the half-orc doing sign language for the benefit of? Us? The VC seems to be speaking without any problems at all.

I'm particularly irked because it seems like it's an opportunity to provide representation to the deaf community, but it's written like CRAP.

Any thoughts from the crowd?

It's not an easy topic to approach when the game is spoken and doesn't have another visual medium like subtitles to help the viewer/player.

Quests are really hard to make immersive AND also be playable in a demo environment.

I'm okay with this intro because I understand the constraints on wordcount and time. I imagine that stuff is just background that can make the world feel alive in a paragraph. "Remember this vc has a dog!" Etc.

One of the other VCs responded to my initial mewlings about this quest's prose and mentioned and pointed out that there was a different Kalsgard based 1e scenario (Season 10) that first introduced this hearing-impaired VC and his unique system for managing things. It explained things a bit further.

It would have been nice to have that referenced in the instructions of this quest for people trying to run this, I'll grumble one last grumble.

I personally feel they let it drop here. I also would like a reason and not just something I'll make up from the seat of my pants. I mean, it sounds like a great RP opportunity. Especially since the way it's written, it also feels like the VC doesn't care about them either. It's almost as he resents having them there in the first place.

For me, logically, it's a series of bells. Mahki can hear the bells and alert Bjersig. Why it rains down Frostfurs beats me. Closest comical hijinks I can imagine is that the bells scare some sleeping Frostfurs and Mahki gets cranky at them. Pretty weak, though.

Again, this is just my take on it, but I figure he signs to make sure that what he says outloud is understood. Of course, that means you'd need to know sign language. *sigh*

It’s short sighted for the scenario writers to think that it’s a good idea to not re-introduce things in the first 2e scenarios. There are new people playing. I think it’s a wasted opportunity.

Orla easily finds an alchemist shop. It's a well-lit shop, with large triangular open windows that let the sun come in and the smells go out. Regardless, there lingers a rather peculiar odour of burnt hair. Thankfully, it's not a strong smell. A gnome with bushy golden-coloured eyebrows looks up expectantly, a thin long beard and mustache marred by burnt tips.

"Don't mind the beard. I've just discovered that keeping it singed helps with staying focused when brewing explosives. Nothing like a little pressure to keep your mind on not messing up!", he says with a distant smile. "So, what can I get you?"

Meanwhile, at the docks, a middle-aged ulfen woman supervises with a stern eye sailors and cargo workers loading up her trading ship. Painted on the bow, the words Wandering Hearth can be made out.

Thanks for taking the time to roleplay out simple matters like purchasing. Sometimes when you have only a few hours for a game it's good to push past it and maintain momentum, but given the medium I appreciate this attention to detail.

It's just an app which can notify you when the RSS feed is updated. Podcasts use RSS to let your phone know that a new podcast episode is out, stuff like that.

You've probably seen an icon like this: https://cdn2.iconfinder.com/data/icons/social-icon-3/512/social_style_3_rss -512.png which is the RSS feed icon.

GM, we're still having the issue with needing permission to be able to move things around on the Google slide/fill out your Google form. You can adjust this by choosing privileges when you share the link to your Google forms. There's a drop-down menu that says "allow users to view/edit". Toggling that switch to edit prevents this problem.

And I've been very impressed with your GMing so far. Pip pip!

Thank you Orla; I've already set permissions as editable by all. I keep defaulting to view only as that's how I share things at work. If anyone still has issues with the slides, please let me know.

You're in luck, Gabros. Character Options were approved I believe a few days before we started this quest.

Good news is that Aldori dueling swords are 2 gold pieces for PFS, not 20 gp! Bad news is you made 15 copper pieces from 3 days' work.

You can confirm this by checking the following blog post (Pathfinder Society 2ed. Character Options) and click on the section regarding the Lost Omens World Guide.

Nw
That’s an awesome improvement

A refresher on Swimming & Drowning:

The water is calm, so you don't need to roll a skill check, but you do need to hold your breath for each round underwater. You move through the water 5 feet, plus 5 feet per 20 feet of your land Speed. Approx. 10 feet total for most PCs. You can hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to 5 + your Constitution modifier. Remaining air is reduced by 1 at the end of your turn, or by 2 if you attacked or cast any spells that turn. You also lose 1 round worth of air each time you are critically hit or critically fail a save against a damaging effect. If you speak (including casting spells with verbal components or activating items with command components) you lose all remaining air and begin to drown.

Drowning: you fall unconscious and start suffocating. You can’t recover from being unconscious and must attempt a DC 20 Fortitude save at the end of each of your turns. On a failure, you take 1d10 damage, and on a critical failure, you die. On each check after the first, the DC increases by 5 and the damage by 1d10; these increases are cumulative. Once your access to air is restored, you stop suffocating and are no longer unconscious (unless you’re at 0 Hit Points).

Since we've got the PFS blogs about access, I've made a post on the PFS forum that I'd like some FAQ votes on.

It goes over all the Lost Omens archetypes and ancestries, whether they're PFS legal, and how you qualify for them in PFS. There are some grey areas, like whether you have to pass the hellknight test somehow in PFS.

I'd appreciate you having a look, and hitting the FAQ button if you want to see it answered!

ACP= Achievement Points, you earn them by finishing quests and scenarios.

Generally speaking, a quest is worth 1 ACP to players and a scenario is worth 4 ACP. It's why it's important for GMs to report games.

Organized Play Guide wrote:
Achievement Points: By playing, running, and reporting Pathfinder Society games, participants earn Achievement Points (abbreviated ACP), a special online currency with which they can purchase special rewards like access to uncommon ancestries, items, spells, and more. The number of points depends on the size of the adventure and the event where it’s played. Standard events include games played in private residences and many public venues. Premier events include many conventions and special events designated by the Regional Venture-Coordinator. Premier Plus events include special shows (such as the Gen Con, Origins, and PaizoCon conventions) where Pathfinder Society has a special presence and often debuts major adventures.
