Woohoo! Congrats. Now to unpack.

Maps: Cardriss, Market, Residential; Language Guide; Geography; NPC list, Tower Day: 44

Sorry for the delay- things have gotten busy at work with the holidays and end of year paperwork and whatnot (and also I got caught up in a big game of axis and allies over the weekend). I should be posting in all my games at some point later today.

And, congrats Witness!

Maps: Cardriss, Market, Residential; Language Guide; Geography; NPC list, Tower Day: 44

I’m already cooking for the (American) holiday tomorrow. I’ll try to get posts up tomorrow night but I’m not likely to get anything up before then.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Maps: Cardriss, Market, Residential; Language Guide; Geography; NPC list, Tower Day: 44

My schedule from now until Christmas is pretty hectic, including being out of town all next week. I’ll try to sneak in posts (mostly from my phone) whenever I can but I won’t have access to all my notes while I’m gone so attempts to learn stuff might be a little bit limited (although, I suppose you’re sort of used to that).

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I'm right there with you, bud. This is my busiest - and most tiring - time of the year for me at work, so, I'll be hit or miss until after Christmas. Should be able to keep up for the most part but if I don't pop up for a day or so then that's why.

Maps: Cardriss, Market, Residential; Language Guide; Geography; NPC list, Tower Day: 44

Well, that was even more hectic than I anticipated; I'm sorry for the extended silence. I'm over the hump now and hope to have posts up in all my games tomorrow. I might still be slow to post until the 27th or so, but I should be able to post some at least.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I'll be honest, the delay was absolutely no bother for me. I'm fairly exhausted due to work and welcome any and all breaks. No complaints here. :)

I've been down with the flu since Sunday, so honestly haven't even checked until now.

I started writing this up in gameplay and then decided that it would probably be better to do here.

Re: rumors and gathering information

I know its easy to loose sight of because inside of the Tower you're surrounded by people of your own power level (or higher), but when you're out and about in Cardriss each of you individually are among the most powerful people in the world. There's not really an almanac for that sort of thing but a lot of the people who are powerful enough to enter the Tower do, which doesn't leave a huge number of high level people outside of it. And, of those who don't enter, not many start the attunement process, so the high level people who are outside the Tower don't usually have all the extra powers you do.

That reality has some consequences when it comes to random rumors and your impact on the world at large. Most random rumors will be completely beneath you, and those that aren't will have the potential to change history (if such a thing is possible). I have no objection to you trying to change history if you want to but I'm nervous about just dropping random rumors that lead to it, because I certainly wouldn't want you to do something just because it seemed like an adventure hook and then have to live with the consequences, whatever they might be.

If you guys would like me to include random rumors I can, and am willing, but I want to make sure that we're all on the same page with that: it will be up to you all to decide which things you feel like getting involved with, and sometimes (perhaps often) the only reward will be having accomplished your own goal.

Even within that framework though, it would still be really helpful to have some idea of what kind of rumors you'd be looking for. You're in a pretty big city and the rumors here run the gambit from what exotic new trade goods have arrived in the city recently, to brewing family conflicts and who might be married off to whom, to upcoming political decisions and so on. I can give a random smattering if that's all you're looking for, but it'd be more likely to hit on something meaningful if I knew what could of news/rumors actually interested you.

Sorry for the delay. I've been hemming and hawing about how to handle the coming search/encounter... knowing that you want to handle it peacefully, I was thinking about trying to do something more narrative but couldn't really come up with something I really liked, so I'm just going to make a normal post later today.

Lightninghoof | Male Human (Vitolian) Bard (Arcane Duelist) 13 / Marshal-Archmage 2 | HP: 166/151 | Perception +30 (+33 vs targets), Sense Motive +23 | Spd 50 ft | AC 28 Touch 16 Flat-Footed 24 | CMD 31 | Fort + 10, Reflex +16, Will +14 | Init +6 | MP: 7/7 | Active: Longstrider, Light, Heightened Awareness, Tears to Wine, Echolocation, Wind Walk, Telepathic Bond | 32/32 rounds of bardic performance

If it's impossible to go about peacefully, I'm sure we'll deal. Gaius would just prefer to not go hunting an endangered species.

Lyra would not mind in the least a bit of combat. She's a tad bit into the death-defying swordplay bit of life. BUT of course! she would be okay with a peaceful resolution. :)

Maps: Cardriss, Market, Residential; Language Guide; Geography; NPC list, Tower Day: 44

Thanks for the understanding. The issue isn't really whether or not a peaceful solution is possible, it was more how best to balance expediency in what could be a fairly uneventful encounter versus providing some sense of satisfaction when your goal is achieved. Ironically, I wasted so much time on that both will probably suffer some.

At any rate, I'm starting a post now, so it should be up soon.

Sorry for the delay. Its been a long week and I've been having trouble mustering the brainpower for a GM post. I should have something up tonight.

oversized hobbit

no worries sir. Mental health first. Posting second.

Always mental health first!

Maps: Cardriss, Market, Residential; Language Guide; Geography; NPC list, Tower Day: 44

Sorry I've been quiet the last few days, I've been coughing my lungs out and loopy on cough medicine (its not Covid, I got tested). I'm hoping to feel up to posting this afternoon/evening.

To reiterate: both mental and physical health first. I was out of work for a good portion of last week as well (also not Covid). It's frustrating. Take care of yourself.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

No worries, bud. Get to feeling better FIRST. It is no fun to do anything fun while you're sick. There's just no energy for it. At least in my experience.

You just get yourself better. This game ain't going anywhere.

Hey all, I'm sorry for falling silent again- RL's been a challenge the last couple weeks. I'm restructuring my PbP load today (and dropping a handful games) so that I'll be able to do a better job of keeping up with the games I'm still running/playing. I will be continuing to run this game.

If anyone has lost interest due to my slow/erratic posting, please feel free to say so and I'll work you out of the story; otherwise, I'm going to try to get back to regular posting today.

All good here. Never a worry, bud.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I got a question for you all.

What do y'all see when you open a spoiler? And I'm talking about ANY spoiler. Just open any spoiler anywhere.

Because when I open a spoiler, the whole thing has a grey box around that which is within the spoiler now. It's kinda weird. Are y'all getting that also or is it just me?

Cleric 13 (Theologian) HP:149/149 AC:28 TO:17 FF:23 F:15 R:13 W:19 Percept:+30 Sense Motive:+28 Init:+7 Fire Resist:20 CMD:16 Active effects: . mailbox paid until Tower day:72

Yup, weird grey box.

Well that's new.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Definitely new. And definitely weird. Don't really get why. Mistake by Paizo maybe? *shrugs*

oversized hobbit

Odd. I can understand wanting to separate the spoiler in a way so if it is in the middle of a block of text you know instantly when the spoiler ends and the rest of the text begins, but the gray is too dark.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

It really is too dark. And any ooc comments are even more of a struggle to read.

Lightninghoof | Male Human (Vitolian) Bard (Arcane Duelist) 13 / Marshal-Archmage 2 | HP: 166/151 | Perception +30 (+33 vs targets), Sense Motive +23 | Spd 50 ft | AC 28 Touch 16 Flat-Footed 24 | CMD 31 | Fort + 10, Reflex +16, Will +14 | Init +6 | MP: 7/7 | Active: Longstrider, Light, Heightened Awareness, Tears to Wine, Echolocation, Wind Walk, Telepathic Bond | 32/32 rounds of bardic performance

I don't mind it too much, but I can see it having a nasty effect depending your screen and your vision. This one may not have been fully thought-out. It might be a nice opt-in/opt-out option. I'm scrounging around to see if other people have brought it up on the boards or blogs.

Edit: Found it! A few other people have started discussing it here. It is deliberate, and not everyone is a fan. That's probably a good place to express concerns.

Ha! Fair enough. Shadow conjuration has to have some limits I suppose. I guess I thought that, since there is an option to fail the save, that it should work.
