"Olaf sent us." the seven foot tall half orc growls.
Then, with a pensive look, he seriously asks Marcus, "What are we here for?"

GM Helaman |

Vothe finds a local gem merchant... not surprising for a town that used to work through disposing of plunder.
He looks over the diamonds... 800 he says dismissively, then looks over the assorted gems Small stones - easy to use and move. Nice. 200 the lot....
He then lifts the pearl.
Oho! This IS something, he then whistles appreciatively. Where'd you get it?

Marcus Vincenzio |

Marcus chuckles and nods. "I imagine that's what he usually sends his patrons to you for. I'm actually looking for something a bit more potent. You see a friend of mine was, ah, bitten by a poisonous snake recently. Fortunately we were able to get him to a healer in time to take care of it. Im looking for something that could help us should we encounter a similar situation but didn't have a healer available. Is that something you can provide? " he asks.

" he asks.
You have the look of adventurers so if it's not a drinking remedy you want, I think you want the good stuff. Common healing potions? Got five of those... Greater Healing Potions - twice as strong, mind you! Got two. I do have a potion that clears up feeling poisoned and such - that one is proper magic and not cheap, Potion of Lesser restoration , I'll want some decent coin for that!

Marcus Vincenzio |

"Ah, yes, the good stuff. The potion of lesser restoration is probably what I was thinking of. What would that cost? And what about a common healing potion?" Marcus says with a smile.

Marcus Vincenzio |

Marcus heads back to the group to tell them what he found out about the potions when Vothe hands him a sack of coins from the sale of the gems. "How much? Well done. In that case maybe I'll pick up that potion after all. Never know when we might need it," he says as he leaves to return to the shop.
He smiles at the shop owner when he enters. "I talked to my companions and was able to scrape together some coin. Would you be willing to take 270 for the potion of restoration?"
Persuasion: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 bah

Marcus Vincenzio |

Works been crazy for me too. I thought I posted this but apparently not.
Marcus nods and shrugs his shoulders then pauses to consider the cost versus his current funds. "Alright, I'll take a healing potion and the restoration potion," he says as he starts counting out the 350 gold.
Satisfied that the group is better off with these potions, he heads back to the group. "I couldn't get him to lower the price so the restoration potion was 300. If we all pitch in, that's 60 a piece," he says as he hands Augar the potion, hoping all will help.

GM Helaman |

Moving it forward... handle purchases ooc
Eric of Forsetta returns to meet you the next day.
It is worse than I feared. Access to the Duke is difficult in the extreme - it took all my influence and my station to see him and he is in a sorry state. I did what I could for him but it is not sufficient it seems. I used every blessing from Forsetta I was granted but to no avail!
When it rains one cannot catch the water in a bucket - it needs be that one goes to the cloud that sheds the rain. I have another mission for you - Enter the temple of Cretia, get to Xanathons chambers and get whatever you can about the curse. I recommend you enter in stealth but in force as well - it could be dangerous.
Another 100 each?
He looks hopeful and concerned at the same time.
There is another commotion outside. Going to a window you can hear others talking about a new law and see the press of the crowd gather tighter to listen. The Ducal herald, looking somewhat nervous, approaches surrounded by town guards and rolls out another proclamation.
Be it known to all that His Benign Munificence Duke Stephen Rhoona, has declares the following to be his official decree:
Whereas it is apparent to all but the most feeble minded that the sun is the most illustrious of heavenly bodies,
And whereas it is of the unmost importance to maintain the goodwill of this most blazing orb of flame during the coming strife,
It is hereby decreed that the burning of all combustible materials - to wit, wood, oil, wax, cloth, peat etc etc etc - is outlawed during the period of the suns resting, lest we incur the jealous wrath of his most heatful self.
The hours include those times between the suns touching of the western horizon and his climbing once again into the heavens of the east!
Such is the word of the Duke of Rhoona.

Augar Stonefist |

"I see, keeping the populace in a weaker state and making it harder for others to see at night. I think he is gonna use the time to possibly do more harm than good. Let us make haste"he says looking at the others shaking his head.

Ordrud |

Ordrud starts laughing, a deep belly laugh after the reading of the newest Ducal proclamation. "We've arrived in crazy town. This is great! It will make sneaking into the Temple easier with no lights." He wipes the laugh tears from his eyes.
"Priest, draw map of this temple. If you don't know, who can we kidnap or pay to get a map of the temple; guard rotation; and whatever. I'm not blindly wandering around again. We're going to go in. Kill who needs to die. And plundering what we want." The Eldritch Viking commands.

Ordrud |

"Let's kidnap a priest of Cretia, and get them to draw the map." Ordrud suggests to his smarter band mates.

GM Helaman |

I LOVE Ordrud! Solid Gold!
Eric grins a fierce grin.
I wish it were that easy, I might even help but they tend to stay in the temple as I understand it. Only their High Priest Xanathar ventures out from time to time and then only in an armed retinue.

Ordrud |

"Tend to stay? How do they get food? Must take deliveries."
"Does the armed retinue live there? Someone we can pinch?"
"Come on priest. Get creative!"

GM Helaman |

Good point, he thinks.
The worshippers tend to handle all the back and forth into the temple. Its a big building and all the priests live inside with some servants and I'd assume some guards. The Ethengarians are both pretty fearful and very reverential of their Clergy and do whatever ordered.
Not sure if you all could sneak in disguised. They are distinctive in appearance and speak their own language between themselves - regular stealth may work. Magic even if you have the means. I'd definitely go in force - don't leave one of you to do the hard work in case they get caught alone.

Augar Stonefist |

"I see, hmmm" Augar says stroking his beard.
"I say we have our sneaker members lead and us who are less stealthy inclined to well follow"He says looking at the others.
"If need be to use light spells at the last minute to aid in disorienting our foes, same for any fire-based magics. It might even call the guards to come forth and try to investigate why the temple is clearly defying the will of Roona"

Ordrud |

"Let's grab a worshiper, instead. Maybe ask them about their god. Make them think we want to join. Face, you could do that right?"
"We should try to know the layout, so we're not going in there blind again. Let's be smarter thieves."

Marcus Vincenzio |

Marcus listens to the discussion on how they are going to get more information, nodding in agreement periodically. "I agree it looks like we need to befriend a worshiper and see what information we can get from them. Maybe they'll be willing to take us inside. We should find one that's bringing goods in and start up a conversation. What does everyone think?" he says as a plan starts taking shape.

GM Helaman |

You'll definitely cause Chaos, says Eric.
I'd appreciate if you didn't stir the mob into a building burning riot - we need this city stable and in one piece - but if some of those Ethengarians happen to die in the confusion? I can live with that... just get Xanathon and wring what ever details you can out of that skinny bastard.

Marcus Vincenzio |

Marcus considers the plan. "Well that would definitely stir things up but I'm not sure how it would help us. We need to be able to remove the curse and I think your plan would just give Draco and Xanathon a reason to unite and move forward with their plan on taking over. I think we are better off trying to get a worshiper to take us into the temple. Once inside, then we can search out Xanathon and see what we can get out of him," he says looking to the others for agreement.
