Hey friends! Let's figure out what scenario we are going to tackle and what characters people would like to play.

Mosquito Witch is fine with me! I think it's a neat scenario that will be a good fit for us.
GM MattMorris |
Yes, I'll put it in for PFS credit. At the moment, the rules are almost exactly the same as what you find in the core rulebook. I'll set up a place to collect PFS numbers and info.
Is everyone able to access Google Slides? That is what I typically use for maps.

No worries--especially for this scenario. We can help out if your placement on a map is super vital.

Good idea! Gameplay thread is posted, For those new to PBP, if you post tot the Gameplay thread, it will show up in the "Campaign" tabs of your profile.
So, we have a ranger and barbarian. Any other thoughts on character?

I got a helpful former bartending fighter waiting for me to get off my duff and give 'em a backstory (and maybe an extra bit of gear). I grabbed the fighter feat that lets her make an enemy flat-footed so I'm hoping for a lotta assists on the combat front, though she's no slouch with her axe, either.
GM MattMorris |
When we're ready, do we post in Gameplay as ourselves or as our PC?
As your PC. Though if you post as yourself first, it's not a big deal.

You folks are awesome. Love your intros!
My plan is to post a little PBP tutorial today and get my Slides set up. We can start in the next few days. I'll run a pre-gen and Andrew can jump in when he feels he has time.

I was going to write up my own little guide, but this thread does a more thorough job than I will be able to.
The short, short version is that you use tags to format your post and make dice rolls. I typically use "Bold for speaking" (the [ b ] and [ /b ] tag), italics for thoughts (the [ i ] and [ /i ] tag), and normal text for describing your actions. Generally, we use third-person limited when describing our characters' actions.
For 2E, I will be observing the the guidelines on Secret checks. All Secret checks will be made behind a spoiler (marked Secret) and I'll tell you the results, either as a group or in an individual spoiler marked with your name.
I'll automatically make checks for the skills that you are trained in, but if you want to attempt a Secret check with a skill you aren't trained in, just let me know! (I think this is most fair for the way that critical failures work with, for instance, Recall Knowledge checks.)
Mosquito Witch is a roleplay-heavy investigative scenario, so I think it is a great introduction to the form. There are some additional conventions that I use when it comes to combat, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
If anyone needs advice about setting up or formatting characters, please let me know!

NeoTiamet, you still thinking bard or rogue? I'll likely drag Kyra along on this adventure with you folks unless you decide you'd like to roll a cleric.
GM MattMorris |
Sounds like a great mix for us!
We'll continue to noodle around and RP until everyone is ready. Perhaps we can start in earnest on Monday.

It's Thanksgiving here, so Happy Thanksgiving!!
Spending the rest of the long weekend with family. I'll won't be checking in again until Tuesday.
Thanks!

Can I do a Society and/or Diplomacy check to hear/have heard any rumors about what's been going on? I think those are my relevant skills for this. I have Hobnobber, which reduces the time, if that's an issue (and if it's more fitting to ask afterwards, I can hobnob after the meet-up).

You can ask around town after you are done talking with the VC. (There's an Occultism check to see if you already know anything about it, but I'm only going to automatically roll checks to Recall Knowledge if you folks are trained in them. (Since there's a chance of critical failure.) If you want to do an Occultism check anyway, feel free!

As is perhaps becoming obvious, I am woefully delayed on all matters related to this. Short version, work is being a *****, plus I got tapped for a Paizo project with a hideously short timeline.
I am hoping to be around more in early-mid-November-ish. If the game is still in starting stages then, I will gladly participate (I really want to be in this), but I will also understand if you guys want to kick me out and start playing.
I am really very, very sorry.

No worries, buddy. Due to the design of the scenario, you can really just hop in whenever you are ready. You'll just arrive in Shimmerford when you can and help solve this mystery!
GM MattMorris |
Sorry again for the slow pace. I'm feeling much better now, so I should be able to pick things back up.

Happy Holidays!
I've got family in town and won't be posting for the rest of December. The first week of January I should be back up and posting, but it might not be consistent until January 6. Feel free to bot or skip me, if needed.
All the best!

Cool! I'll post a little update about the guy you just found, and we can take a little break until after Christmas.
