After your brief rest, you turn your attention to the door into the control room. Mari carefully inspects it and concludes that it isn't trapped or otherwise secured. You group up and get ready to breach.

Flint activates the door and it slides open smoothly to reveal a short hallway opening into a larger room. You see directly ahead another large lensed device mounted onto the wall. Where the previous one had been placed in a way that gave you a chance to spot it before it could activate, you only have a fraction of a second this time before an electromagnetic pulse emanates from it in a straight line.

All three people in its line of fire duck one after another, managing to protect themselves and (perhaps more importantly) their equipment. As you all straighten, you're easily able to send a shot into the device to prevent it from sending another pulse. You step into the room beyond.

This massive chamber is illuminated with red light. Maps, photographs, and scraps of local publications wallpaper the perimeter of this massive chamber, broken up by a massive bank of view screens mounted on the east wall and a heavy curtain showing the Brass Dragons symbol hung on the west wall. An island of computer stations and desks separates the room into a clear operational space. The computer screens prominently show an audio control program running through an eclectic playlist. Otherwise the room appears to have nothing moving around.

Mari and Bel rush in towards the computer consoles, setting their hands on the keyboards. Just as they arrive, Flint notices that off the the northeast there's a small alcove filled with a bed. A mound of bedding sits there, grey and red synthetic textiles bundled into an odd shape. It takes a moment, but Flint notices the glint of a camera lens in a fold of that oddly human-sized bundle. Ordyt on the other side hears a slight rustle to the south-western side of the room, as if some fabric is moving. Ordyt also notices a large greasy section of the floor to the north-east. (Now in yellow on the map)

The lump on the bed to the north-east throws off the covers to reveal a sunken-eyed ifrit girl with a striking black and pink hairdo and light armor. One of her arms is encased in a strangely gelatinous claw that crackles with electricity. She raises her other hand into the air and makes a series of series of intricate signs, causing another splash of grease to rain down atop Bel and Mari.

From behind the curtain to the west, you briefly see an armored arm extend before a grenade sails through the air toward Bel and Mari. The canister explodes mid-flight, and as it does, the music goes from blindingly loud to so quiet that your ears are left ringing.

A blast of icy cold air emanates from the canister, delivering minor chills to both of you while also coating you with a layer of frost that slows Bel's movements. (Dealing 2 dmg to Bel, 1 to Mari. Bel is staggered 1 round)

Flint replies, "I'm on it, Ordyt!" and moves quickly through the curtain (in whichever square he did not see the arm extend, so he hopefully has a place to stand with a clear view of the attacker). The sun starting to blaze in his eyes, he says, "Poor choice," and swings his solar dueling sword at the heavily armored attacker.

Edit: Since Flint can only take a standard action in the surprise round, he Stellar Rush charges and slashes through the curtain where he saw the arm come out--hoping to hit the enemy, but at least destroying his cover. This assumes that seeing where the arm came through the curtain does not count as having line of site on the actual enemy.

Dropping the grenade launcher and moving wide around the grease pool, Ordyt draws his hammer and vaults the control panel, bearing down on the ifrit officer with menacing intent.

To the north-east, the ifrit cringes as Ordyt gets close, squeaking "I-I didn't sign up for this!". At the center consoles, Bel manages to get upright, but little beyond that (you were staggered. At least you didn't waste a good attack roll).

The Brass Dragons Commander takes the rifle in both hands as she steps back and away from Flint. With a warm, low drawl, she says "Honey, I don't think you quite understand the position you're in." She clicks the trigger on her rifle and a jet of superheated plasma blasts through Flint, Bel and Mari. (Dealing 15 damage to all three of you! Half fire, half electric, so Mari ends up taking only 10 total) "You wore through my patience a long time ago."

She tries to shake the ringing from her ears and refocus on whoever was currently beating the crap out of them. I don't know what's going on, but I'm gonna kick somebody's ass!

Cringing from the plasma washing over him, Flint nonetheless steps up and engages with the boss, his eyes glowing brighter with the light of the sun. Over the comms, he says, "A little help here, Sammad? I'm trying to box her in."

(Flint is hoping for a stamina boost and also moving 2 squares in the hopes that since the commander just has a ranged weapon out she won't get an attack of opportunity. That way she can't just step back again and drop plasma on them all without taking an AOO herself.)

Gritting his teeth, Flint swings again, looking for a chink in her defenses!

Oof, those are some unlucky rolls.

An acid dart from Marisol connects with the western wall, while Flint climbs on top of a bed. The Commander kicks him in the leg as he slashes with his solar blade, sending the attack up into the light fixture on the ceiling.

To the north-east, the ifrit spellcaster fumbles a bulky metal grip and thick braided copper cable out of her utility belt. When she flicks a switch plasma wreathes the length of the flexible cable, turning the strange weapon into a sort of plasmatic whip. She holds the whip in a defensive posture.

The spellcaster's defensive stance pays incredible dividends as she manages to awkwardly tangle Ordyt's hammer using her plasma whip, while also positioning the oread between herself and Bel. Both attacks miss. She smiles nervously, sweating under the assault.

The Commander ducks deeper into the room, moving with impressive swiftness despite her armor. She levels her rifle into Flint's face and fires. Plasma envelops everyone other than Marisol, whose prone position saves her from the stream. (Flint and Bel take 8 damage, Sammad with his resistance takes only 3) While the jet of plasma is still in motion, she ducks back out of the small sleeping quarters and into the room proper. (Yes, she moved, attacked, moved)

Flint's blow lands as the Commander attempts to fire, but even as he injures her, a current of electricity flows from her armor up his arms! (Feedback deals 6 shock damage). Though Flint pursues her swiftly, she deflects his following attack using the butt of her rifle. While Sammad's shot goes nowhere near her, the shot from Mari pierces into her leg. She smirks in response, clearly not too worried by the wounds.

Once more Ordyt's attacks are kept at bay by the nervous spellcaster. She moves her whip about haphazardly, without much finesse, but its enough to keep him distracted. She calls out "Uh, commander? W-what now?"

On the other side of the room, the Commander grunts as Bel's spinning axe strikes her in the leg. She whispers something into her comms then moves the rifle to one hand and draws a short cylinder from her waist. She flicks the switch to produce a bright yellow plasma blade, which she immediately whips around to slash at Flint. The beam cuts through his armor, searing flesh. (14 damage, half fire half electric) Seeing Flint on his last legs, she twirls the saber behind her, beckoning him forward to try to hit her.

As the ifrit steps onto the grease and wobbles Ordyt seizes the opportunity to slam his hammer into her torso, sending her sliding the rest of the way across. Cursing at the (in hindsight) obvious outcome and not trusting himself to follow, the oread instead advances on the commander.

"Mari, Bel, take her out!" he shouts, gesturing at the spellcaster. "Your Brass Dragons are dead and scattered, 'Commander'. You've lost."
Double move around the grease, into a flank with the commander. Maybe my dice luck will improve with a different target!

but finds her weapon bouncing into the grease patch before she can recall it to her hand.

The Commander gives him only the slightest glance before slashing in at Flint. Unfortunately even the cover from the wall between them is not enough to protect the valiant solarian. The plasma saber cuts deep into Flint's chest and he falls. (11 dmg) The Commander continues her swing around and slices Ordyt across the legs. (13 dmg) She scoffs at his statement "What's here is only a tiny fraction of the Brass Dragons. This will be a setback, but one I'll recover from." Even after striking twice, she takes a guarded step up to get Ordyt between herself and Marisol.

When Mari rushes over, she's able to quickly bind the gruesome wound on Flint's chest, stabilizing him. Sammad's shot weaves precisely between Mari and Ordyt and connects. Though the additional injury appears minor, its clear enough that the multiple small wounds are wearing the Commander down.

The spellcaster rushes westward for cover against the various foes gunning for her. She stops right behind the Commander, then reaches over and inscribes a sigil upon the hilt of the Commander's plasma saber. The weapon blazes far brighter!

Ordyt's swing connects, bludgeoning the Commander further. A burst of electricity from her armor runs up the haft of his weapon in response (Dealing 5 shock damage).

Bel's handaxe ricochets off the Commander's armor moments before the ifrit goes in for an attack. She slashes twice with her blazing plasma saber. The first strike connects with a blast of violent energy, immolating Ordyt's arms and torso. (27 damage) Luckily, he's able to sidestep the second swing. The Commander repositions to put Ordyt between herself and the ranged members of the party.

Eyes blazing, Mari strides forward, dropping the dart rifle and pulling her autotarget rifle into her hands. Instead of hanging back and taking another potshot, though, she reaches out with a hand coursing with electricity and tries to grab the Commander's plasma sword.

Using Overload on her energy sword, DC 17 reflex or it is nonfunctional for 1 round.

As Marisol ducks in, the spellcaster lashes out with her plasma whip. Her aim is fairly poor and she does little more than score a burn mark across the wall. Marisol's touch sends jolts of electricity into the Commander's plasma saber. The weapon sparks and jumps in the ifrit's hands, smoking slightly as it overloads.

The ifrit spellcaster looks to be on the verge of outright panic. "Ack! Keep away!" She waves her whip and conjures a wave of flame to wash over Mari and Ordyt!
