Charge actually isn't a regular action. I think certain classes get it though, like the Angry Boar class. :)

Scratch sprints back towards the boar, hoping to put the creature down before it can do any more damage, but ends up flattening a turnip instead.

"Hey! Kill the boar, not my turnips!" The frightened farmer complains. You notice the door to the farmhouse open and Trin step out. "Oh, Marny, are you okay?!" She calls from the porch.

Gillian brandishes her longspear and strikes, but the ever evasive boar evades both that and Ed's ball of flame. Not even Celvi can seem to harm the boar!

"Oh no. It's still alive!" Marny cries.

The boar grunts, turning on Gillian and staring her down with its beady red eyes narrowed. Then it leaps ahead with its tusks out.

Hero Point Rules wrote:

You can spend your Hero Points in one of two ways. Neither of these is an action, and you can spend Hero Points even if you aren’t able to act. You can spend a Hero Point on behalf of your familiar or animal companion.

Spend 1 Hero Point to reroll a check. You must use the second result. This is a fortune effect (which means you can’t use more than 1 Hero Point on a check).
Spend all your Hero Points (minimum 1) to avoid death. You can do this when your dying condition would increase. You lose the dying condition entirely and stabilize with 0 Hit Points. You don’t gain the wounded condition or increase its value from losing the dying condition in this way, but if you already had that condition, you don’t lose it or decrease its value.

The boar's dead, and Celvi makes extra sure it stays dead. "Hey now, don't damage more of the meat than ya need ta!" Jokes Scratch as Celvi gets in an extra shot for good measure.

Scratch, battered and bruised to all hell himself, bends down and lifts up Gillian. Or tries to until he realizes just how heavy her pack is "Holy smokes, just what's this girl carryin' around in that purse of hers!" He slips the pack off her shoulders and leaves it on the ground, carrying her inside the farmer's home and laying her out on the kitchen table.

"Get Ed in here too while I start workin' on Gilly here." He starts by pulling off her leather armor then pulling her shirt up to expose her gored stomach. He does leave her with some dignity and keeps the bathing suit bits covered.

"Get me some hot, clean water n the strongest booze ya got. I gotta clean the wounds and see if I can't sew 'em up bafore the infarction settles in."

He heads over to Ed, who's spraalled out on the kitchen floor with his shirt off, a similar set of wounds. "Gonna need more of that booze..." He gets to work on the wayward wizard.

After 10 minutes its obvious he's done a better job on the man than he did with Gillian. "Wake up kid, ye ain't dead yet!" He chuckles, grabbing his own ribs as he does. "I'm thinkin' I could use a bit of action too... where's that brandy go to..." Scratch strips off his own hide armor and pulls of a well worn shirt. His wrinkled skin hides some ropy old man muscles with plenty of scars and scratches, and a fair bit of white and grey body hair.

"Let's see if I can't patch up these holes." He gets to work cleaning and sewing up his own wounds, washing it down with a healthy dose of brandy.

HP Healed: 2d8 ⇒ (8, 2) = 10 Success The target regains 2d8 Hit Points, and its wounded condition is removed.

After another 10 minutes Scratch is starting to get a decent buzz and no more of the liquor is leaking out of his belly. "This is pretty good stuff... umm, what's yer names agin?" Ah shyte, we gotta gut that boar and gett'um hung bafore it spoils in this heat!

The Dwarf's eyes light up as he looks at the others "Leave these two and the Missus here, we gotta take care of that pig bafore the guts spoils the meat. Ya got a cool spot we can hang the carcass farmer?" Asks Scratch over his shoulder as he washes his hands off and heads back outside, drawing out his thick steel dagger. "I'll gut'r but I'm gonna need some help gettin' it hung up aight?" He gets to work, sippin' on brandy and disembowling the boar with practiced precision.

Survival: Forager: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Forager Feat:

Forager Skill Feat: Source Core Rulebook pg. 261. Prerequisites trained in Survival
While using Survival to Subsist, if you roll any result worse than a success, you get a success. On a success, you can provide subsistence living for yourself and four additional creatures, and on a critical success, you can take care of twice as many creatures as on a success. Each time your proficiency rank in Survival increases, double the number of additional creatures you can take care of on a success (to eight if you’re an expert, 16 if you’re a master, or 32 if you’re legendary). You can choose to care for half the number of additional creatures and provide a comfortable living instead of subsistence living. Multiple smaller creatures or creatures with significantly smaller appetites than a human are counted as a single creature for this feat, and larger creatures or those with significantly greater appetites each count as multiple creatures. The GM determines how much a non-human creature needs to eat.

Once all that's taken care of he heads back in to work on Gilly some more. "She still KO'd eh? Breathin' ok still? Not bleedin' right?" He asks the woman as he checks on the wounds and tries to sew things back up.

Marny and Trin help Scratch to carry in Gillian and Ed, and rest the unconscious duo down on their beds as Scratch gets to work. "Oh my, I'm so sorry! Thank you for stopping that boar, I don't remember boars being this violent before - but anyway, Marny, help them with the wounds! I'll get bandages,"

Trin rushes into her bathroom and pulls out supplies that might aid Scratch's attempt at patching up Gillian and Ed's wounds. Targen Faust eventually wheels himself in as well, his mouth agape. "Holy hells! They nearly died!" Targen reaches under his makeshift wheelchair and pulls out a sack containing medical supplies and adult-sized diapers, because you never know.

"I'm not very good at treating wounds, but let me try," Trin leans over and applies some gauze to the wound. Whether it's a result of her help or not, after about ten minutes, Gillian opens her eyes, still feeling worse for wear but very much alive. "There we go! Hi, are you alive in there?" Trin smiles. "Marny, get the fire going, the least we can do is make them a meaty meal after they killed that boar for us!"

Being Unconscious and Recovery:
If you are unconscious and at 0 Hit Points, but not dying, you naturally return to 1 Hit Point and awaken after sufficient time passes. The GM determines how long you remain unconscious, from a minimum of 10 minutes to several hours. If you receive healing during this time, you lose the unconscious condition and can act normally on your next turn.

He keeps the bottle of brandy close at hand and it wouldn't be out of place for a cigar to be hanging from his lip. "Heart. Gotta eat the heart first after a fight like that. No question. I'll grab it."

He sets the bottle down and heads back out to the hanging boar and removes the heart, then the inner loins. He wraps the loins in some large leaves and stuffs one of them in his pocket for later, the other to pair with the heart for dinner.

After about 10 minutes he makes his way back inside and heads to wash his bloody hands. "Yuh said boar's aren't usually that worked up?"

"Yeah, yeah, we'll get ourselves patched up," Gillian remarks, ignoring Scratch's now-unsurprising outburst. "Still seems awful early in the day for resting up but hopefully we won't run into anymore trouble if we stick close to town for the rest of the day."

Once the meal is done, and provided they have the time, Gillian does attempt to make good on her word to help patch up her companions - and herself.

"Bar fights?" Trin snickers. "Unfortunately, they're not exactly a rare occurrence here. Put a bunch of farmers together and add some drinks and, well, it's only a matter of time before someone falls onto someone else."

"No one really knows where Phinick lives... I mean, I'd expect him to show up for work again soon, unless... he actually did it?" The farmgirl shudders. "He just doesn't seem like the type."

Targen shifts in his chair and sits up straight. "Rest?! All I do is rest! I'm not ready to go home yet! Let's take the long way back to the Feedmill, Steeltoe!"

___
Yup, I'm fine with that. At some point today (in game) I may advance time to advance the story, so if it's suddenly dark, that's why :) #justpbpthings

Scratch feels quite a bit better after some of Gillian's masterful medical work... that and the brandy and a full belly. He wakes up from a quick cat nap as Targen hollers.

"Ya Ya, I'm up already. Just cuz you're the Mayor of this dump doesn't mean ya can work me to the bone here!" He stands and cracks his back before starting to wheel the old man back outside.

"Point me in the right direction ya old coot and these wheels 'll get ya there." He hands him the empty brandy bottle and winks. Maybe he'll get the hint about fillin' that when we get where we're goin'..

"If you need anything else from us, just let me know!" Trin calls as Scratch wheels Targen back outside.

"Okay, bout time! Go on, Steeltoe, head this way! We're leavin' the north side of town now." The cart picks up speed. "Right here is the Drunk Shepherd's Path, it goes through all of the turnip farms around town. It was once sheep pastures, but the last large flock left town years ago."

The path eventually comes to an end at an old shrine in the middle of an ancient copse of oak trees. "The shrine here dedicated to Gozreh," Targen looks back as you make your way through the old woods, "It was once used fer other purposes. Druids used to gather here, but since Father Bolgrist's death - the priest who was said to be cursed by the witch who started the plague - nobody worships here anymore! Matter of fact, this area's seen some of 'em bloodsucking vermin.. keep movin', I think the boar hurt ya enough for one day."

You steer Targen's cart back towards the Feedmill and move along a path next to a hill. "This hill here was the site of the first home built in the area. Etran spent his fortune founding this town, only to die in a fire that consumed him and his family because, well, the house was too far from the well and the river! That's how Etran's Folly got its name."

Just as it begins to get dark, the path leads you back to the Feedmill. "Oh, thank you for getting my father some fresh air," Delma comes over from behind the bar. She leans in and whispers to Gillian, "He'll be a lot less grumpy now, at least for a few days."

"If you're ready to rest for the night, the room is ready. And I believe we agreed on a fair, er, cost for it, whether that was in silver or, um, manual labor," she shyly remarks.

While it's not quite as packed as it was last night, and the kitchen remains closed, there are still a few farmers inside nursing their drinks, including Farmer Eallom, who had started the brawl last night.

"Sure, I'll help clean up after you close it down for the night," Gillian replies to Delma. "And happy to help. Him and Scratch seem to get on well enough."

As Gillian contemplates whether or not to catch a nap before getting to work, she spots Farmer Eallom having a drink and nudges the others.

"Hey, there he is, he started the fight last night right? Should we try talking to him now or wait and try catching him tomorrow when he's a little more sober?"

Ed gazes with interest at the old shrine dedicated to Gozreh before reluctantly continuing past the area, "That looks like a fascinating place to explore...We should return here on the morrow."

As Delma turns her attention to him Ed stutters slightly here, "I ...ahhh...can help you with some menial tasks Miss Delma. Just tell me what you need to have completed."

When Gillian mentions the Farmer to the others, he purses his lips in disgust, 'I see no reason to offer him any more respect than he showed the previous night. Let us see how he chooses to defend himself here."

Celvi pops up at Farmer Eallom's table. "Hey! 'Cause of you, I'm stuck here eating turnips for the rest of the month!" She leans in, close.

"Why did you start that fight? Someone poisoned Bort in the confusion and I'm gonna find out who. So start by telling me everything you know."

"Wha...well, let's hope she's not just gone and started another brawl," Gillian remarks, facepalming as the little gnome gets right up in the farmer's face. Rather than immediately pile on with her own questions, she hangs back just a little bit to see how the man reacts first.

Scratch nods to Delma as he wheels her Dad back onto the porch "He ain't so bad if ye ignore the smell..." He jabs the man's shoulder and smiles.

"Ya, maybe that fella knows somethin', but I still got my silvers on that green skin. We gotta find 'im sooner or later else he'll run back home n bring a whole army of them fat heads down on us!"

"Hmm? The hell do you want?" The farmer lazily looks up from his short glass of strong-smelling liquid. "Start the fight? That clumsy fool Kolnral tripped over me!" He scowls back at Celvi... but then he sees the harsh daggers in her eyes, and he leans back in his chair. "Well, it's like I say. I didn't do s%$!. I wouldn't have punched 'em if he just was a little more careful. I was gambling all night with Ulf and Olf... bastards nearly cleaned me out, too!" He throws the glass back and gulps it down, raising his finger up blatantly to order another round. "I didn't see anything happenin' with your dwarven friend."

"Eallom, I should cut you off here. Let's not have a repeat of last night," Delma sighs as she circles over and puts down another glass.

As the night wears on and some of you help Delma with some light labor around the Feedmill, she offers some advice. "I'm not sure who you haven't spoken to yet, but maybe Flonk, the local bard, saw something? He was playing pretty close to your table. Might be a good start for tomorrow."

Scratch keeps a close eye on the farmer, maybe he's just a drunk, but maybe, just MAYBE he's a liar!

"Lost yer shirt to those two wind bags did ya, heh. How much they take ya for?"

I'm fine to rest. Scratch will crash in the barn again.

"Sure, sure, we'll speak to Flonk and try to track down Phinick tomorrow too," Gillian nods with a yawn, absently wiping her still-damp hands from where she'd been helping wash cups.

After the Feedmill closes for the evening and you finish helping Delma out, Gillian, Ed, and Celvi rest indoors and Scratch heads out to the barn to get a night's rest. Bort's caravan mates are resting in the wagons and in their bedrolls on the ground next to it, except for Glunda, who also sleeps with the horses. Looks like they'll be staying as long as Bort's death is unsolved...

The next morning comes, and you find yourselves feeling much better after resting off the brutal boar attack. Looks like it's time to continue the investigation.

I think it's HP equal to Con modifier regained after 8 hours of rest, and if you slept in your armor, you're fatigued. Feel free to prep anything you need to before we head out again.

Scratch rises early. Its always good practice when crashing in someone else's barn, home, or shed to get up before they do... just in case.

He finishes relieving himself in the horse pen because well... who's going to notice? He puts his hide armor back on and makes his way out into the chilly morning air. Time to cook up some of that leftover pig... and maybe put it with some of that honey and the one biscuit I got left... hrm.

He gathers up a bit of dry hay and finds a good spot outside to build his cooking fire, using scrap wood he finds around the barn and under the nearby trees.

Ed rises slowly at first as his body finally shows signs of shaking off the wounds suffered before. Yawning and stretching he walks over to the wash basin and scrubs his face vigorously with ice cold water and soap. Gasping with the feel of the freezing sensations he drys his face off quickly.

That was surprisingly wonderful, he thinks to himself. Finishing up his studies he heads back down to the main dining room looking for his companions. "Good morning Miss Delma. Did you...sleep well?"

Celvi runs. Her feet move left and right.
A chuckle here. A chuckle there. A scream follows.
Dear, dear Celvi. You can't run. The show isn't over yet.
Celvi pants, tears in her eyes. This isn't what I wanted. I... didn't know. I didn't know!
She stops to catch her breath, but it's too late. Icy cold fingers wrap around her neck.

--

Celvi wakes up. Wipes the sweat off her face. Picks up her hat. "Dammit. Dammit. Dammit."

She runs downstairs, quiet but distraught, and begins scarfing down whatever food and drink are offered. Maybe eating will make it go away.
