She launches off the roof and flies off to the south...

The harpy queen is about 200' away and about 70' high...Keos could try to shoot her but it'd be at either the third or fourth range increment for his hornbow...

Philetius smashes Tim into the queen harpy, crippling her, but she still manages to fly off...the Ganzi then charges the retching yellow harpy and introduces her to his little friend with devastating effect...

Keos fires a long range shot that pierces the queen’s chest and she drops precipitously from the sky...he then fires his second arrow through the yellow harpy’s right eye, finishing it off...

Arie flies out of the walled off room and ties up the blue harpy...

By my reckoning, everyone seems to be back at full strength...

After healing up, Keos searches the harpy bodies, with the exception of the harpy queen who fell away from the stairs, 200' to the south. He finds:

As the sun begins to set, Keos flies off to where the harpy queen fell. He searches the body and finds the following items that stand out:

What do you think Momoko, Rogar? There's no honor to be had killing a prisoner. I expect she will rejoin her tribe once she gets free. If we let her loose now, she will go to this so-called king and warn him we are coming. I say we just blindfold and gag her, and leave her here.

Momoko follows the will of Apsu, first and foremost. As the giant is of no further harm to the party, she offers the giant one modicum of peace.

Keos detects some kind of movement, raising up sand and dust, in the horizon to the east...while he can't tell what's causing the movement at this distance, the ranger can tell that it appears to be heading this way and judges that, whatever it might be, should arrive here in a couple of hours or so...

Seldanna identifies 5 Elf-bane arrows, 9 Human-bane arrows, and 9 Hill Giant-Bane arrows, along with a wand of deep sleep, a wand of heal critical wounds, and a scroll of heal. The cloak and ring are identical to what they found on the hill giants the previous fights, a cloak of resistance and a ring of protection...

The giantess, through translation, tries to answer both Rogar and Momoko. "I say he hurt me...I no be here when he come...if let go, I go that way...I leave, no come back..."

Momoko senses the giant woman will leave, heading towards the caravan, if the party allows her to...

That seeming to be settled, with a bit of time to breathe, Momoko recalls the feces and rubbish she saw on the shoulder of the huge statue when she first flew up to the landing to scout. She saw it just prior to being attacked by the giants (marked by the yellow circle on the Storval Stairs Map linked below).

You basically have about an hour or so to prepare for the imminent showdown with the King. You’ve already healed up, so if you want to make any other preparations (plans for combat/ambush, buffs) or exploration (what Momoko saw on the statue), post ‘em before I move us forward around mid-morning tomorrow...

Earplugs give -5 to hearing-based perception checks, I'm assuming this is visual. Please adjust if I am mistaken.
Then he turns to the party.
An hour or so until they get here? Any specific preparations we want to make? I've some spells that would be useful, but would need to cast them closer to arrival time.
He closes his eyes for a moment and thinks.
We should decide on strategy first. Are we assuming they will be coming in hot and we are going straight to combat or do we think we can talk this leader down? Do we want to go and meet them on the way here or let them come to us? I'd normally advocate keeping the initiative, but if we can get an ambush in, that would be an advantage. What does everyone else think?

Air Walk was from a scroll, so would last a total of 70 minutes. It's been going throughout the scenario so far an into the fight. I'm not sure how long the exploration, etc. took, so your call on whether it's still active or not. I would say probably not, but open to a different interpretation.

Can someone flying take a look at the statue? There's something odd about the head, but I can't see it from here.
He pauses and looks around the landing and assesses the wall of stone summoned into the doorway to the enclosed room. Does it look thin enough that he could break through with a few hits of Tim(+1 Furious, Vicious, Shocking, Adamantine Lucerne Hammer)? Adamantine ignores first 20 pts of hardness I think

You're probably right Arie. If that's the case, our best bet is going to be setting up an ambush for them here. We can use a few spells once they get close.
Rogar, I can make you big. Guessing that would help. Doesn't work on me for some reason, probably my Ganzi heritage. Do you also want 5 foot additional reach? I have this wand of Longarm, but I can't cast it on you. If you have a way to activate it, it will extend your reach by 5ft more.
I can also put down a Bless so everyone gets a small bonus to hit.
I have a couple other spells, but they will be for me.
Arie, do you know Haste? I have a scroll if not that would be great if you can use.
Also, do you want me to put up an Invisibility Purge? It will prevent everyone from using Invisbility within 30 ft of me, so I'll hold off if we want to do so.

Once the enemy is close, Philetius will be casting the following min/lvl spells, using 2nd level slots for the Oracle spells after he exhausts his 1st level.

Lasting 70 minutes, then it's still active.

Using about 5 whacks with Tim, Philetius takes out most of the wall of stone conjured by the harpy queen and enters the cavernous room to the south...

A ten-foot-high archway leads into this massive chamber, whose ceiling reaches thirty feet in height. Large balconies on the east and west sides serve as the only hint of the room's original function. Holes near the balconies mar the walls approximately every two feet. Dust and debris fill the corners of the room, but the center is relatively clear. A campfire ring in the center make it clear that this room has seen use as a camp for travelers on the Storval Stairs in recent memory. Dim light seeps into the room from three small ventilation shafts in the center of the ceiling.

Philetius finds nothing of import in this room, so he air walks up to the head and shoulders of the massive statue.

The view of the Varisian plains from the top of the statue's head is breathtaking. On a clear day, it should be possible to see all the way to the coast. A haze of flies buzzes around the feces and rubbish that discolor the giant statue's shoulder and the gap between its head and cowl. A small door between the cowl and the back of the head opens into a fifteen-foot-radius chamber in the figure's hollow head.

The domed chamber inside is tidy in comparison to the mess outside. Small walkways of woven branches separate eight large nests, and a hammock-like arrangement suspends one larger nest in the peak of the room. This was obviously where the harpies resided.

You see a man is bound and lies in a crumpled pile in the corner. Despite his injuries, he is still alive. His right hand is crushed to the point of uselessness (though it still bears a mangled silver ring bearing a sigil), and his right leg has been amputated at the knee; the wound where the leg was cut seems to be festering as it smells most foul. He is somewhat conscious, but only babbles, and appears to be barely more than a rambling idiot.

Knowledge (Nobility) DC15:
You identify the ring as bearing the sigil of House Sarini, a noble Chelish house.

Heal DC12:
You fear the wound caused by the amputated leg is now afflicted with gangrene.

You also see a small, unlocked chest in the netted area above. Opening it reveals:

7 scrolls rolled up in an aluminum tube
1 wand

Seldana, while your haste would last 2 rounds longer, I think the rest of your 3rd level spells might come in more handy during the combat. :)

New AC after all buffs should be 21 + 2 (shield of life, delfection) +2 (shield bonus, only adds 2, already have a + 2shield bonu) +1 (Haste, dodge bonus) = 26. Still easily hit by them. :)

Everyone will have all the Haste bonuses and I will start a story on the first round of combat.

Anyone want to use Momoko's Forceful Strikes Toppling +2 Longsword? You get a trip attempt at +17 every time it hits the target and it is a 1d10+2 damage dice.

Quick reminder, each square on this map is a 10' square...with the cast of Mass Enlarge Person, assume you will all be large creatures now, hence you are the same size as the Giants. As large creatures, when traveling up or down the steps, it is now treated as just rough terrain. Be careful with damage you receive as the HP gained from enlarge person are not temporary HP so they are not the first subtracted; when the spell ends, you lose the extra HP...

With the time to prepare and having the benefits of Momoko's commune, you have a lot of buffs; while I will do my best to track those, that's a lot so I will trust you to apply them to your rolls and to let me know if I miss something when applying damage, etc.

You await for the arrival of the self-proclaimed King while the sun sets; an hour after it does so, a bright crescent moon emerges, its light illuminating the stairs to sight within about 200'. You first hear, rather than see, the entourage of giants approach as they make no attempt at stealth, their massive feet crunching down the stairs. You see four of the large creatures approach at the top of the stairs, at least about as far as you can see. A slightly larger creature, dressed in a regal orangish color, steps forth, looking down at you, and bellows out loudly:

"I AM THE KING OF THE STORVAL STAIRS. WHO DARE OPPOSE ME IN MY REALM? COME OUT AND FACE ME SO I CAN CRUSH YOU AND FEED YOU TO THE WORMS, AS YOU DESERVE!"
