This is the recruitment thread for the demo game of Trail of Cthulhu using the GUMSHOE system, and a de facto continuation of the previous interest thread.

As previously stated, we'll be playing the convention demo adventure "Ritual Pursuits", which serves as an introduction to the setting and the system.

If you've previously expressed interest in playing, please let me know which of the pregens (see below) you'd be interested in playing, and if you have any questions about the game.

Pregens:

Fran Tyler, Author
Lian Chao, Shutterbug
Dr. Alex Lansdale, MD
Brad Heller, Minor League Baseball player
Eugene Stafford, Criminal turned pitcher
Amanda Jones, Journalist

If someone has strong feelings about who they want to play, I'm okay with choosing mine a bit later: I'm currently torn between Amanda Jones (Journalist), Dr. Alex Lansdale, and Fran Tyler (Author).

Somehow missed the interest check thread, but I'd be keen in taking part, if there's still space.

As far as characters go, Fran Tyler seems cool, if she's still available, but I would be perfectly fine with Amanda Jones and Lian Chao too.

Scarab Sages

I'd choose Lian Chao first and Eugene Stafford second.

There is still space as we had four people express interest on the other thread, and we have six pregens to work with.

BTW, the only pregen that someone HAS to pick is Fran Tyler because she is crucial to the plot of the demo.

Also let me repost the basic intros to the GUMSHOE system, which can be found over at the Pelgrane Press website: HERE.

Once we have six people (or less if less show up), I will tally everyone's choice of pregen and we'll start.

Just to warn everyone, this is a demo game designed to be run at cons in about 15 minutes. If people post 1+ times a day, we should be able to finish it in under two weeks is my guess.

Here are the pregen preferences we have so far. The number indicates whether it's a first choice, etc. Please let me know if this list does not reflect your true choice, or if it has changed.

Fran Tyler, Author: YoricksRequiem, panegyric (1)
Lian Chao, Shutterbug: rdknight (1), panegyric (2)
Dr. Alex Lansdale, MD: Cucumber Tree, YoricksRequiem
Brad Heller, Minor League Baseball player
Eugene Stafford, Criminal turned pitcher: rdknight (2)
Amanda Jones, Journalist: YoricksRequiem, panegyric (2)

looks good to me

Some people from the other thread still haven't checked in here. Please do so, otherwise we won't know if you're still interested. Anyone new is still welcome to join as we have six pregens available.

Liberty's Edge

I missed the interest thread, but I'd really like to try this one.
As for characters, I can pick up what's left, giving priority to those who signed up in the interest thread. I don't know anything about baseball, so Brad and Eugene would be a bit hard, but I speak perfect Italian, so between the two Eugene would be the best.

Not to worry, baseball does not play a large part in the very short adventure.

I think it is also worth considering a party configuration like this:
- Cucumber Tree - Dr. Alex Lansdale, MD
- panegyric - Lian Chan, Photographer
- rdknight - Eugene Stafford

Which leaves Sapiens and myself the option of dividing up two from Fran Tyler (Author), Amanda Jones (Journalist), and Brad Heller (Baseballer) between us. Since it would mean a few people taking their second choices, I just want to put it out as an option, but obviously I don't want anyone to feel pressured to have to do it.

Somehow I lost track and missed this thread. Sorry.
Since I'm checking in late, I'll pick up whoever is left, which looks like Brad?
A religious black baseball player is a bit out of my normal mode, but for a short adventure it'll be fun to stretch.

Does this work for everyone? If yes, please post in the affirmative. If not, let's talk about it.

Dr. Alex Lansdale: Cucumber Tree
Lian Chao, Shutterbug: rdknight
Brad Heller, minor league baseball player: the jeff
Fran Tyler, Author: YoricksRequiem
Eugene Stafford, Criminal turned pitcher: Sapiens
Amanda Jones, Journalist: panegyric

Also please note that because this is Cthulhu game, there will be mature subject matter (i.e. blood, guts, human sacrifice).

and cakes...mature cakes...I'm in

Sounds good to me =)

And no problem about mature themes on my side.

@Sapiens: I was avoiding Brad and Eugene for the exact same reasons. Have absolutely no idea how baseball works (also, another italian speaker here, lieto di essere al suo augusto cospetto).

Liberty's Edge

Sounds perfect for me.

@panegyric: Il piacere è tutto mio, gentil conterraneo.

Scarab Sages

It all sounds good to me. The setting is in the 1930's but do we have a specific year? I'm a history buff, it matters to me. :)

Works for me, too!
