"We've already lost the worst wounded.." admits one of the doctors.
"Maybe if Dr Yuuqa was around she could have saved them, but I've not seen her since before we barricaded ourselves in here... If you can save her, please do!"
A quick look around shows the remaining patients, while wounded, are not close to immediate death, although they would definitely benefit from the medical bay aboard your ride...
Shohiraj . |
We will do what we can for the doctor, but first let me do what I can for the wounded.
With all the wounded gathered around, Keskodai speaks telepathically in vesk.
The jinsul are a pox upon the galaxy. They attacked and held prisoners the Starfinders. They've attacked and made ruin of your Kreiholm Freehold. Let us pledge to fight them together. To symbolize our unity, may Pharasma heal our wounds and refresh out spirits...
Healing Channel (Su) Keskodai can spend 1 RP to restore 6d8 Hit Points to himself (as a move action), an ally touched (as a standard action), or all allies within 30 feet (as a full action).
Healing Channel: 6d8 ⇒ (3, 4, 7, 5, 3, 5) = 27
Going for the 30' option.
Spells 3rd 4/4 ; 2nd 4/5 ; 1st 5/6
GM Aerondor |
You get a description of the good doctor. One of the guards downloads the schematics of teh building to you, although they obviously don't have the destruction on them.
And means we can get rid of those horrible fog of war overlays from the map
"She was going to the entrance to see what was happening.."
That red arrow
The injured are very grateful for the healing, although a number of people here are sick from things other than gross physical damage.
GM Aerondor |
You make your way through the hospital, spotting a couple of helpful bits of medical kit on the way. At the entrance you find the hospital waiting room.
An eerie silence bathes this banal waiting room, a reprieve from the cacophonous sounds of gunfire and distant shouting beyond. A table and three chairs stand at the center of the room. The floor is constructed of ivory-colored tiles that feel strangely soft underfoot, and spherical light fixtures hang from the ceiling but are shut off and provide no illumination. A door to the east leads further into the structure.
Trapped under a table is someone resembling Dr Yuuqa. Noticing you she calls out in Vesk "Well at least you are not Jinsul. Have you come to join the looting, or are you here to help?"
M'shak |
We are here to help, we’ve heard of your broadcast and come.
We are enemies of the Jinsul and we came here in hope that we could find allies against them. It seems you are not in good term with them either.
Says M’shak before adding Are you injured? Are in need of help?
GM Aerondor |
"Getting this table off me would be a good start. There were some people injured in the first explosions, I need to get back to them .."
She looks frustrated. "I left my laptop behind in the operating theatre too. I'd prefer the invaders didn't get their hands on that.." she sighs as you help her out.
GM Aerondor |
"Well, thankgoodness for that" sighs the doctor.
"I don't suppose you saved my patients for me as well?"
And to cut a long story short..
You head back to the corridor with the patients, and with the help of those who are now more able bodied you get everyone from the hospital back to the Honorbound.
With jinsul ships patrolling nearby, captain Yuluzak doesn't waste any time in taking off quickly.
You have a bit of time to talk with those you rescued if you want now. Trying to learn a bit about their culture would take a diplomacy or culture check
M'shak |
Quite interested by knowing the culture of the people they’ve rescued M’shak tries to speak with them. He tries Igalzuun first to see if the creatures understand it. If not he asks Keskodai to cast regularly comprehend languages on her.
Culture: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
Bluuuuu |
Bluuuuu happily helped free the pinned doctor and guide the remaining wounded and staff back to the transport shuttle. As they make their way towards the Honorbound, the barathu remains on guard for further jinsul attacks.
Once they have a moment of calm, the soldier moves over towards one of the batlike aliens
Here, rest. The worst is over, for now at least. I am Bluuuuu, a barathu from a gaseous planet in the 'Pact Worlds' system. Single-star, ten planets (and three non-planetary autonomous bodies). And you? I have not encountered one of your kind before.
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Bluuuuu has little formal training in first-contact scenarios but means well.
Shohiraj . |
Keskodai takes every opportunity to talk to the doctors and patients. He's thrilled to encounter three new species on one planetary visit, and to have a legitimate excuse to closely examine the patients' anatomy.
Culture: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Bugface |
Bugface chats up the new passengers. Bugface isn't really prying for anything in particular, Bugface can just be chatty by nature.
Culture: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
GM Aerondor |
Dr Yuuqa, after assuring herself of the facilities and stability of her patients politely declines an attempt at the obstacle course, to the sorrow of Yuluzak. However she is very appreciative of the help you provide and happily compares notes and medical procedures with you.
"I learned vesk from a wounded one who stumbled into our system a long time ago. He died several years ago, but not before I learned the language. Some of the others picked it up too, as we thought it may come in handy... where there is one, there are many."
The solider you first met (Muyari) eyes up your weapons carefully, but does do a good job at the obstacle course. Yuluzak eyes up his small wings, muttering something about "needing to do something to counter them.."
He explains the planetry armed forces are purely for self defence. There were rumours of wars in the past, but that was centuries ago.
Sho notes that the thyr you found also has a mystical connection. In conversation you learn that they are a historian.
Zso Sahaal |
Returning to the ship, Zso capitalises on a chance to grow their fanbase by showing some of the survivors their latest Movie The Thraxian Vendetta translated to Vesk. They will also share some of the Pact World Culture with the Doctor whilst enquiring about their own during the trip back.
”Hmm,” they say after discussing the freeholm’s history. ”How do the Jinsul relate? You seemed to know their race. We’ve encountered them a few times now and hope to put an stop to their tyranny and Warmongering.”
diplomacy: 1d20 + 18 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 18 + (5) = 25
Bluuuuu |

War is never...well, should never be the goal. Bluuuuu says to Muyari. But it is too often needed, and so one must know how to defend what matters. If there are some among you I could give suggestions, though the Pact Worlds and our Society have many more knowledgeable in the military arts than I am.
GM Aerondor |
Zso and Treads The Clouds (the thyr) spend some time discussing the history of the Freehold.
"The holy number eight permeates our history and ourselves." he starts. "From the origin there left eight civilisations, and we are the one, the chosen of them. ".
Treads the clouds considers how to compress the history of a civilisation into a short amount of time. "Led by Kreiholm - whose name you will note is also of eight characters, we are three races, settled one five planets - again the eight. But recently one of the other original eight sought us out. The jinsul who sought our return to that which we left."
It shakes the 'head' of its body-suite. "But eight and one are nine. Our laws from times most ancient have emphasised that this paradise is for us, we need nothing more and to have more added will... unbalance our harmony."
"But the others have returned. And with warships, not words this time. Our laws can no longer protect us. The leader, a priest is known as one of the hierarchs of the jinsul."
An incoming signal is picked up by the Honorbound. While it means nothing to you, Treads The Clouds can easily translate it.
"This is a distress signal from Kreiholm's Hope - an important command ship. There will be member of the Council aboard it... we must help them!"
The glee crossing captain Yuluzak's face at the through of a battle cannot be easily missed. Joyozala maneuvers the Honorbound to intercept and match course with the Kreiholm's Hope, while the gunners clear the nearby craft.
"Boarding time Starfinders!" calls out the vesk.
"I need my crew to stay aboard to try and keep the bugs off you."
"Take care." says Treads The Clouds "They report multiple boarding squads already on board. Try to get to the command deck, and rescue the people."
"I'll redock as soon as we see you at the hatch." reassures Yuluzak.
Any last minute prep you want to do before the mid-air boarding action?
Once you board, anyone trained in engineering can do an engineering check for me.

Mon "Goose" Tavvi |
Goose takes a glance at the technical readouts and quickly realizes things are not good.
"Team, that ship has taken a lot of damage. Support systems such as lighting, temperature control, atmosphere and artificial gravity are in danger of failing. Make sure you suit up fully in your armor and engage your environmental controls. If you have zero-g capability, make sure you have it on standby. And hope everyone can see in the dark!" he offers to everyone on the team.

"Take care." says Treads The Clouds "They report multiple boarding squads already on board. Try to get to the command deck, and rescue the people."
...
Will anyone speak vesk aboard the Kreiholm's Hope? How will we communicate?
And will anyone come along to translate?
Goose takes a glance at the technical readouts and quickly realizes things are not good.

Make sure you suit up fully in your armor and engage your environmental controls. If you have zero-g capability, make sure you have it on standby. Thank you for the warning, Goose. I will surely comply with your recommendation for armor.
Paizo did not see fit to equip Keskodai with a flashlight. Aerondor, where do you stand on the comms have flashlights, armor has a comm, ergo armor has flashlight debate? Can we borrow lights from Yuluzak?
Just before the team enters the airlock, Keskodai murmurs two quick prayers. Bluuuuu, Bugface, and M'shak feel a fleeting warm sense of being watched over. Then a faint iridescent shimmer spreads over Keskodai's armor.
Just before we go, form a healer's bond with Bluuuuu, Bugface, and M'shak, then cast reflecting armor.
Spells Remaining 3rd 4/4 ; 2nd 4/5 ; 1st 4/6
reflecting armor active. Fort save +2 (found ring of resistance)
GM Aerondor |
I'm assuming armour probably has some type of flashlight built into it. They are space-suits after all. At the very least, you could borrow one from Yuluzak.
"I'll stay in radio contact with you if you need to communicate" offers Treads The Clouds.
M'shak |
Already ready :)
M’shak follows her comrades inside the ship and quickly confirms Goose diagnostic on the ship.
As an android, she stops breathing and activates her armor’s environmental protection.
I’m ready.
Bluuuuu |
Armor does have flashlights integrated into them, though it's weirdly buried across multiple sections. All armor has a perosnla comm unit built in, and all of those have a flahslight (and a calculator, and various basic games. You can play minesweeper with your armor apparently)
Of course. Bluuuuu readies his own armor and its protections as he thinks. He asks Treads the Clouds In case language is an issue, is there a sign this Council leader will know to understand we come to help?
All set here too
GM Aerondor |
Once aboard Kreiholm’s Hope, it’s clear that the ship’s systems are failing. Lights flicker overhead, and an insistent, high-pitched tone trumpets through the chilly air. A set of twin corridors with lifts on either side lead toward a set of double doors.
As you double time it toward the bridge, the two sets of lifts open up and four more jinsul pour into the corridor!

Zso Sahaal |
I'll take the treads as noone else has said they want them. If Keskodai has a spare armour upgrade I have a spare armour upgrade for dark vision. Also depending on how long we have travelled I'll rest to regain Stamina if needed
Hearing the call, to arms, Zso halts his history conversation with the Kreiholm refugees and bolts into action, keeping their fanbase up to date with the daring rescue plot through their live feed. Ready to fight at a moment's notice, the Solarion summons their blade and prepares to board and repel the enemy.
init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Unfortunately they are not as speedy as some of the foes. "Die curs" he spits in Jinsul.

Kesko's armor is full, but thanks for the offer. He's got blindsense 30', so he's not totally helpless in the dark.
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Right in the rocking chair.

Being a ranged combatant, Goose would move back behind Bluuu if he can. If not, he stays put. The map edge is right there...
GM Aerondor |
bluff: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26
Goose has a sudden flash back to the briefing, where he was warned about some jinsul having special anti-operative training. His target appears prepared for the tricky opposition, and while the shot hits, it does much less damage that he hoped.
That said, you can move back off the man, the corridor is moderately long and straight.
The two jinsul cast spells to protect themselves, shimmers of power appearing around their bodies.

Shohiraj . |
Pharasma speed us on our way. The shirren chants as he eases forward.
Caste haste. M'shak is just out of range. Everyone else gets 8 rounds of awesome.
Then move as shown.
Zso Sahaal |
Feeling Kesk's magic flow through their veins and seeming to speed up their reactions beyond all normal limitations, Zso gives a broad smile. Bright energy once more builds up in their core as the Lashunta focuses on the mysteries of the universe necessary to tap into his Solarion training. Feeling the building flow of energy, Zso zips forwards in an eye blink before bringing their Blade Belenos from right shoulder to left hip across the Blue Jinsul's torso before a twisting their wrist and bringing the blade back across their own chest.

Bugface |
Feeling very fast all of a sudden, and looking for an excuse to use Goose's super cool gun, Bugface does something unorthodox. Bugface speeds past the jinsuuls in front and heads down towards the pair standing alone below. On the way Bugface pulls out Goose's yellow star plasma rifle. After arriving at the other double doors Bugface quickly spins around and opens fire.
Plasma Rifle Attack vs EAC: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Electricity and Fire Damage: 2d10 + 7 ⇒ (7, 4) + 7 = 18

Mysticism: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (15) + 21 = 36
I should have thought of this before I acted, but better late than never. What spell did the jinsul cast? The roll above will let me ID spells of 5th level and lower.
If you can clearly observe a spell being cast, you can use Mysticism to identify the spell. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + 5 × the level of the spell being cast. This does not require an action. You can’t take 10 or 20 on a Mysticism check to identify a spell.
GM Aerondor |
M'Shak makes a dash past the first two jinsul. The one in green armor makes a quick stab at her, but she easily evades him. She then drills him in the back with her sonic pistol. Her aim is not the best, but with his back turned she makes the most of the opportunity and he grunts in pain. M'shak also grunts in pain.
10 damage, reflex DC 13 for half.
Bluuu then drops the one in blue with a deft swing of his disc.
I assume it targets EAC? Can you all make it clear in your attacks if you are going against EAC or KAC please, it makes my life much easier.
Sho whispers a prayer. Seems that Phrasma wants to speed the jinsul to their graves.
Zso springs forward, slashing mightily at the second jinsul. He too feels some of the pain of his victim.
Bugface dashes past the jinsul and lines up two remaining ones with his borrowed weapon. They wither in pain as the plasma engulfs them.'
