Color spray is a ridiculously overpowered spell at first level...

Awesome! We'll either be killed outright or taken prisoner. I've never felt such a thrill of actually having something momentous happen! Go fey! Go us! What will happen?!?!


As this...ahem, may come up...they do plan on killing you from what you've seen. And, they can each color spray 1/day; 2 of the 3 have used theirs already. Hopefully, we don't have a TPK, but feel free to consider some alternate character option rebuilds in case.

Maybe each of you have long lost twins with exactly the same abilities;)

Instead of fighting them you might want to goad them and lead them on a merry chase to buy time! Definitely spread out so that a color spray only gets one of you at a time. Right now we are all AOE meat.

Also: note to GM - it seems like color spray was meant to have its effects determined on a target by target basis. I think Arsiel should get his own 2d4 duration roll.

I was contemplating either a more traditional healer or a samurai. Open to ideas though.

Oh, and of course, it would have to be a non-standard race.


If we do have a TPK, would you guys be willing to build into some roles I have in order to move the storyline along? Specifically, I'd be looking for:

A merc for hire who has taken on with what he's finding to be the wrong group

A woodsy type who works with the High Sentinel Lodge as a scout

A trained troop type who has been sent out by his or her boss to find the Lady Argentea

That sounds fair to me. With the concepts I have, either the merc or trained troop would work. But I am willing to adapt.

As a suggestion being prone actually helps against missiles. Full defense also helps.

The healing hits at the beginning of your turn, I think that's how fast healing works.

So...one of the tougher parts about this is that you're not set to advance up a level until after a significant ordeal you have to overcome - at least, by the book. If it becomes a bigger issue, we'll address it, but for now....no level up:(

I wasn't srsly thinking we had even had enough xp-worthy combat or encounters, which is why I asked if we'd hit 1st level. Also a play on the fact we are so terribad, it's like we are 0-level characters. Well, Ana is. Not having the capacity to hit something further than 30' ft away is priiittty silly. I wonder if kinetic blasts can go further than 1 range increment....

I feel your pain, Ana. Garland is the healer that can't stay alive...or heal. Great build there. From what I have seen, kinetic blasts don't work like ranged weapons and have a set range. However, the extended blast infusion can extend to 120 ft.

To me one of our biggest issues is that we are basic characters with zilch for equipment. Usually we would find ourselves faced with an encounter to warm us up and provide some cash so that we could buy cold iron weapons, healing scrolls/potions, and the like in preparation for a tough mission. We went into a tough mission with crap for gear.

Yeah, not many places to find any good loot either - it's "stomp through the snow, fight, then stomp through the snow"


And...you can get back to town before sundown.

Eh. Back when I started roleplaying, we trudged through snow twice as thick as this just to get to the game, and we didn't name our characters until they were 3rd level. Encounters being deadly was all part of the experience.

I'm going to consider retiring Ana and making something new. I'm still undecided. I like Ana's character and I'm fond of the kineticist in theory, but I'm not sure after this whether Ana would want to head out again...
