Click on my name, go to my profile, read my house rules. Short version:

* no male characters
* no core races (except human)
* hit dice according to D&D 3e
* ability scores 63 total points 1:1 cost

Here's a few more that aren't in there.

* In addition to normal Golarion deities, you may also worship deities from the Forgotten Realms setting. Somehow, I've never really connected with the Golarion deities, so I'm expanding the pool you can draw from. Of course, the Golarion deities are normally available. FR deities' domain lists are as in their 3e writeups, but said domains function as their PF versions. 3e domains that do not have a Pathfinder version may be negotiable, ask if interested.

* Unchained Background Skills system is in use, minus Artistry and Lore.

* Three traits. One campaign trait and one any other trait is as normal. Then you have a free regional trait as well. The regional trait must specify a proper name region, not "any city" or something like that. This is to encourage and inspire geographic and cultural thinking of your character's background.

* Evil characters *are* allowed, but I am *extremely* draconian about any sort of PvP. Do not steal from your party, do not backstab your party, do not betray your party, do not do any behind-the-scenes shenanigans that will get other party members in hot water. If you can't play an Evil team player, then don't play Evil at all. If you start causing trouble for the party, I will take over control of the character. First and only warning.

* No 3rd party material. However, WotC 3.x material is worth asking about. (No Book of Nine Swords though, sorry.)

* I reserve the right to add more if I forgot something.

I will probably run the recruitment quickly. I will close as soon as I find enough characters that I connect with, so you don't want to leave anything to the last minute. Max 5 days; if I haven't found enough by then I will not run the game.

I particularly enjoy non-European flavored characters -- Qadiran, Vudrani, Tien, Erutaki, Osirian, Garundi et al. -- so those will have an edge in getting in, but not so much that I will take a mediocre Vudrani over a great Andoren. If I have to pick between a great Taldan and an equally great Tien, the latter would probably get the nod.

What I want in your submissions:

* Not much crunch. Name of course. Race plus ethnicity/subrace if applicable. Class and archetype. Ability score distribution. Traits and feats. Alignment is important. You do not need to distribute skill points, buy equipment, select spells or build your animal companion unless accepted.

* An image link would be nice to get a feel for the character.

* Not much fluff. You're amnesiac. Half the point of Strange Aeons is that I end up telling you what your background is, so don't write a year-by-year history of where you lived your whole life. If you retained a maximum of five memories of your whole life, what would they be? None of them can be from the past five years. What fluff you write, focus on your personality, not your history. What kind of person are you, how would you react to different situations. Alignment is a great place to start thinking about examples. But again, not much here. Max two paragraphs.

* Mostly OOC player meta information. You can check the Interest Check thread in this forum for the kind of things I asked about. What I want to know about you as a player. PbP history, commitment level, why should I believe that you will not disappear, and so on. People who already did that in the previous thread do not need to repeat themselves here. Also, if there's important no-nos and hard limits that you don't want to see in-game, this is the place to mention them. Do bear in mind that a horror AP will kind of require some level of gore, so I hope there won't be a lot of requests for no-gore.

I guess there's a bunch here. I'll add as I think of more, and as always, ask away.

Oh, posting frequency. I'm *hoping* to drive the story fairly quickly, and will not wait around a lot. So it would be great if you could check in 2-3 times a day at your best, and at least every other day at your worst (barring pre-arranged vacation times). These are flexible and I'm not draconian about them, but they should give you a little idea of what sort of pace I'm hoping for.

Oh and READ THE PLAYER'S GUIDE OF COURSE!!!

Ah, if I weren't in an SA game I'd totally go for this. Good stuff. Happy recruiting!

I am dotting for interest. I need to look at the guide (I can't look at it at work) before I get a submission. Off the cuff without any primer I am thinking of some kind of drow. The idea of a female drow having no idea of what drow society is (and the potential for having an alignment shift on account of it) due to amnesia is potentially too good to pass up. We shall see though.

I am just going to drop a dot here as well, while I figure what kind of character I want.

Looking at an Android Barbarian (via the Empathy feat) named Milady. Whether it's her true name or not, it's the only thing she remembers being called.

Light Crunch:
STR 14
DEX 8+2 10
CON 10
INT 6+2 8
WIS 10
CHA 15-2 13

Math: 63 - 14 - 8 - 10 - 6 - 10 - 15 = 0

Taking Enduring Stoicism as the campaign trait, Alien Origins as the Regional, and either Nanite Revival or Tusked through Adopted if you would allow that.

Attribute leveling would initially go into Intelligence as she gained more and more awareness of who and what she is, then into Strength and Constitution.

TN, looking at Untamed Rager.

I don't know 100% what I plan on doing with the build, but it is more the flavor I am interested in rather than the early access to rage-cycling. Perhaps her anger is a programming glitch or a specific programmed behavior (related to her toothy maw), but she obviously has no answers. I doubt she even knows what an android is.

5 Moments:
1. Being lovingly repaired/nursed back to health by a beautiful half-orc
2. A strange light from above shining on her and communicating with her
3. A painful surgery with no anesthetic
4. Sharing campfire tales with a party member. Spoke of ghosts and horrors from beyond the veil.
5. A recurring dream, flashing images of teeth, strange architecture, and metal rending through flesh.

Hard Limits:
My hard limits really are just rape, sexual assault. Racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia make me deeply uncomfortable, but if they are villainous traits, I can stomach them as long as it is not too prevalent.

Appearance:
As seen on the right, also here except with clothing and huge teeth, either always visible or when her mouth is open. Skin would be smooth and off-white, more like ceramic tiling than anything else.

Questions for the DM:
Would we be allowed to take a drawback, either in exchange for a fourth trait, or even just because? Are we allowed to submit multiple characters?

More details to come.

The Vermilion Vixen

Race: Human
Class: Brawler (Hinyasi)
Deity: Milani
Alignment: CG

Stats:
• STR 20 (+2 racial)
• DEX 10
• CON 10
• INT 12
• WIS 3
• CHA 10

HP = 9 or 11 (Brawler HD is d10, but not sure if D&D adjustment changes that to d8.)

Feats:
• CLASS: Improved Unarmed Strike
• ARCHETYPE: Catch Off-Guard
• Lv.1: Dirty Fighting
• HUMAN: Power Attack

Skills:
• Climb / Swim +9
• Acro / Escape +4
• Know Local +5
• Intimidate +4

Background Skills:
• Craft (Ladies' Fashion) +5
• Perform (Oral) +1

Traits:
• Free - Muscle of the Society
• Campaign - Pugnacious
• Region: Numeria - Ancestral Weapon: masterwork silver-heeled stiletto boots (officially an improvised weapon)

Fluff:
• A red-headed woman wakes up feeling like she just won a fight. Some of those bloodstains are on her thigh-high stiletto boots, just like those worn by the famous silver-age heroine, the Vermilion Vixen!

The red-head remembers nothing about her own social life or childhood, but she has vivid memories of the Vermilion Vixen's adventures—which for some reason are all in red and black ink and framed in rectangular panels. But she's pretty sure that just means an artist drew pictures of her adventures.

Plus, she's really strong. So if anyone asks, she'll introduce herself as... Vix? VV? The Vermilion Vixen seems a bit long-winded...

Five Memories:
#1. At a fashion show.
#2. In a hot spring with models.
#3. Standing on a rooftop... searching...
#4. A dark alley. Blood. So much blood.
#5. A petite woman's hand in her own. Tan skin. Jade bracket. Line, fine black hair flowing into the scene, caressing the Vixen's pale, freckled arm. Who the hell is she?

...

About Me:
#1. The Vixen is the Crimson Comet's "Plus One." If you accept the Comet, please consider me as well.

#2. I role-play my heart out and even in combat, I stay in-character. You may see fit yourself. My Avenger Vigilante Vixen enters her Kingmaker game on p.37 of this Gameplay thread.

#3. No-no's:
• the R-word
• forcing my character to desire men
• altering my character's form

About that last one: I really tried the death-reincarnation thing before. It's immersion-breaking for me. I vividly picture the action in my mind and I draw my characters. Anything you do that makes me look different will cause me to lose interest.

#4. I play well with others. My characters never give other PCs crap because that's not a fun team to be on.

#5. I don't flake out. Ever. I will bow out politely if I lose interest, but it takes a lot to get me to quit a game. The reason I quit a game on this board was a combination of inactivity (sometimes over a week without a post) and feeling like my character has no impact on the world around her.

I'm confident that won't be the case with this game.

PS- Don't forget I'll be offline from July 2-23!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Lobster: Adopted seems more like it would work for cultural things than physical changes, but I'll be lenient and allow Tusked since it makes for a memorable visual.

I would prefer no multiple character submissions.

No drawbacks.

Vixen: I'm gonna let Brawler be a d10 class.

I...think Perform (Oratory) would sound a little less...ambiguous. :D

Silver Crusade

When I first read the Constructed Pugilist brawler archetype, it struck me as a neat idea for Strange Aeons. The character wakes up with no memory, and a metal arm that they are somehow certain isn't theirs.

I have to rethink the race/background I had in mind to comply with your rules. How about a hobgoblin, with oriental background?

I'm definitely dotting this - I've always been curious about SA.

Also, thank you for such definitive limits - its so nice to see these things spelled out beforehand. And I fully second the "no men, i've been inundated with them all my life" perspective.

A quick question: Are the horror/occult books open for use? I know the player's guide mentions them, but a lot of GM's don't want them to be used. I don't know much about them, I've not really gone through them much because few people use them.

The reason I ask, is that my initial idea when you mentioned the amnesia angle and reading it in the guide was a Samsaran. They already have messed up memories and I think it would be an added dimension if, as her memories started to return, she wouldn't even know if they were actually her's or not. Perhaps that too meta though and it would just make it harder to play for both of us.

Either way, when poking through stuff about Samsarans, I ran into references to numerous things in the occult/horror books and it made me curious.

Dotting. Still going through the player guide, so this is subject to change, but I've been thinking for a while now about playing a somewhat... sociopathic* Paladin and this seems a good AP for it.

Will you allow the Tortured Crusader archetype from Horror Adventures?

*Important note: I do NOT mean "antisocial" - I seriously dislike PvP - and I do not mean "kill-crazy", either.

Samy wrote:

Yes. She's a gifted speaker... is all I was implying.

Bluff (Feign Innocence): 1d20 ⇒ 10 FAIL

Oh, also, her "backstory" is actually based on the Pugnacious trait's back story, combined with the Ancestral Weapon trait and a "fact" I totally made up: an illustrated text exists which depicts adventures of the Vermilion Vixen, a.k.a. The Extremely Fashionable Muscle of the Society.

Where I'm going with this: this red-haired young woman (age ~23) is not Addison Lane. She's not the "real" Vixen. It's like some redhead woke up thinking she's Batgirl, and even has a utility belt... or whatever piece of the Batgirl outfit is the most iconic.

...

A question: do you allow style feats?

(Your answer won't affect my Lv.1 build. Just a matter of what I do with my AP as I level.)

I will apply with a kitsune sorceress.
In human form

Dotting out of interest. Will look into this later for a full write-up.

Given the variance on this one, does it provide PFS credit/chronicle sheets?

Stats

hp:8 (1d4 +toughness +favored class)

STR 7
DEX 10
CON 10
INT 16
WIS 8
CHA 12 +2

Melee: Quarterstaff (1d6-2)
Ranged: Light crossbow (1d8/19x20)

Skills: Appraise +8, Bluff +5, Diplomacy +8, Intimidate +7, Sense Motive +4, Perception +4, Knowledge (arcana) +7 Knowledge (history) +7

Traits: Sensitive Mind, Honeyed Tongue, Deft Dodger

Feats: Toughness, Persuasive

Fluff: Lily is a slender woman of average height, short hair and what appears to be clothing outside her homeland of Quain. She is unsure what her old personality was, but she does have a fearless attitude in the face of danger, despite her size. She may come off as ditzy and intense, but she's highly sociable and likes to make friends with others. The only thing she truly fears is whatever she may have done in the past. To her, she's all about using the clean slate for a new lease on life and enjoy it to the fullest.

Memories:

1. Attending a church of the Monkey King Sun Wukong

2. One of many(?) visits to New Oppara. Perhaps this is how she learned Common?

3. Waking up satisfied in bed with a man and woman by her side

4. Trying etiquette in her homeland of Quain... and hating it.

5. Performing mental torture on a hapless victim. This is what has been bothering her the most.

About Me: Granted, this would be my first RP on this site, but I have experience with taking APs in Pathfinder online. I also hate seeing a game die and will do my best to see to it till the end. I also love roleplaying with my characters, giving them personality as I write them and doing interactions with NPCs.

Hard limits: No rape or any outward signs of racism or homophobia.

I'm submitting an Investigator with the Questioner archetype, which gets rid of alchemy in favor of some arcane spells. (Essentially it's a Rogue/Bard hybrid, although the emphasis is definitely on the Rogue part of the equation.) Party Role would be a combination of Skill Monkey and Scout. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Light Crunch:
Name: Saiya
Alignment: True Neutral
Race: Fetchling (Native Outsider)
Class: Investigator (Questioner Archetype)

Ability Scores:
STR: 9
DEX: 12
CON: 10
INT: 16
WIS: 10
CHA: 8

Traits:
Methodical Mind (Campaign): Choose three Knowledge skills. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge checks of these kinds and on concentration checks. In addition, choose one Knowledge skill. When researching, you are considered to have Skill Focus for that Knowledge skill when determining what die you roll to reduce a library’s knowledge points (kp). (Chosen Skills: Arcana, Planes, Religion. Skill Focus: Planes.)
Uskwood Hunter (Regional - Nidal): You have served the Umbral Court, discreetly following interlopers through the twilit city streets of Pangolais to pinpoint their locations for the authorities. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Stealth checks, and Stealth is always a class skill for you.
Pragmatic Activator (Magic): While some figure out how to use magical devices with stubborn resolve, your approach is more pragmatic. You may use your Intelligence modifier when making Use Magic Device checks instead of your Charisma modifier.

Feats:
Weapon Finesse: Use Dex instead of Str on attack rolls with light weapons.

Appearance, Memories, and Personality:
Image Link

Saiya Remembers...
1: Cowering in fear while a dark dragon swooped overhead.
2: Researching in an old library, the smell of dusty tomes overwhelming her senses.
3: Standing in front of a strange portal, an odd thrill running through her.
4: Bowing before a shadowy throne, a picture of a stranger in her hand. A voice saying ”Find him. Do not disappoint us.”
5: Walking down a crowded street. People scurrying by while avoiding her gaze.

Personality:
Saiya starts out as a nearly blank slate, focused more on survival than any concerns of “good” or “evil.” She’s intelligent, pragmatic, and will evaluate every situation from the perspective of “how will this benefit me.” What keeps her neutral rather than evil is that she is capable of caring for and forming bonds with others. Thrust into a situation she doesn’t understand, she’ll cling to the other party members as long as they are not overtly hostile towards her.

In terms of character development, I expect her alignment to shift more towards good as the story progresses, especially if the rest of the party leans in that direction.

OOC Player Information:
Most of this was answered in the interest thread. I am usually able to check the forums multiple times a day. My history is relatively recent, so I don’t have a good way to show I’ll stick around other than my word.

As for Hard Nos, my big one (rape) has already been stated by other applicants. If other players want to have that in their backstories that’s fine, but I’m not comfortable with it happening to my character. I would be okay with creepy innuendo or even threats, so long as it was coming from someone clearly villainous and never progressed further than that.
I’m also not comfortable with explicit violence happening to children. Implied past and/or “off-screen” violence is okay, again so long as it was done by someone villainous.
Gory violence is fine, so long as it’s not happening to children.

Dotting. Getting to work on a character. I am considering three classes and would like to know the hit dice of them: Occultist, Kineticist, and Investigator.

Here's my submission:

Name: Jessibel Lily Aulamaxa
N female humanoid (human [Chelaxian])
Class: Bard (Ringleader)
Abilities: Str 8, Dex 12, Con 10, Int 12, Wis 9, Cha 14 (+2)
Feats: Noble Scion (arts), Lingering Performance
Traits: Twitchy (campaign), Charming (social), Secret Revolutionary (regional)
Background: The original version of Jessibel was a bard (silver balladeer) in a Hell’s Rebels campaign that fizzled. I think I’ll play this version as a bratty noble teenager who ran away from home before the events of that AP. She can have fallen in with the wrong crowd, thus explaining, at least in part, some of the questionable things she did during her lost time.
Some Memories: Getting into all sorts of early teens mischief with her frenemy, Sabrina Sarini (one occasion involved sprinkling itching powder throughout Countess Urora Sarini’s underwear drawer); Receiving word from Westcrown that her father had died (been murdered?) there; Receiving a family heirloom—a darkwood toy rapier—with which she gleefully destroyed much of the foliage throughout the Aulamaxa estate before it was taken away; Briefly attending a local school for girls in Kintargo that was run by an elf woman with blazing red hair, was attended almost exclusively by half-elves from throughout the Inner Sea region, and taught a strange curriculum emphasizing etiquette, diplomacy, and graceful stealth; Being beaten by a local dottari for throwing eggs at an Asmodean acolyte who’d pulled her hair in retaliation for some snarky sass she’d given the ‘devil-kisser.’
Appearance: Jessibel, now in her early 20s, is a short-ish young woman with impish blue eyes, smirk lines at the corners of her mouth, and glossy black hair trimmed way shorter than it was when she was a Kintargan noblewoman. Her muscular dancer's legs have lost much of their definition over the past few years; in fact, Jessi's let her entire body grow rather soft. She'll vow to get back into shape before she looks like her famous relative, Visbaronetess Delour Aulamaxa. (In game terms, I'll likely be devoting a majority of her early Ability Score points gained to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution.)

EDIT: Added appearance.

5 memories:

1. Nursing an orphaned baby monkey back to health
2. Finding my grandmother dead in her bed (seemingly died peacefully in her sleep)
3. Sick on a ship during a storm, with a pet money clinging around my neck
4. Lost and disoriented in a bustling Absalom marketplace
5. On the ground crying during a thunderstorm, at what appears to be an unmarked fresh grave, the size of an infant ... or possibly a monkey.

Character Info:

The low charisma represents that she is a shy, quiet person who avoids people generally, and kind of weirds them out when she does interact, because of the general "I hang out with dead people" vibe she gives off. When she makes friends, living undead, she is loyal and even (awkwardly) happy to be social with them.

The investigator abilities for her are more a matter of instinct and insight than meticulous study.

OOC questions:

I ran online RPG's (MUD/MUX/MUSH style platforms) for several years. Got back into online RPG last year during the Gameday and enjoyed it a lot. I am very committed to finishing games once I have started them. No problem with the posting/check-in requirements.

Gore is OK, though not my interest. A general description to get the idea works for me. If lurid details of torture and mutilation are presented, I might begin skimming that paragraph, but won't be offended or anything.

OK, read the campaign primer and got the creative wheels spinning. While they spin, do have a few questions for you:

1) It sounds like we have some control over how much the character remembers (with the hard set exception of the last few years being unrememberable)... would you be opposed to a character that literally remembers nothing? Like, to the point where the only reason she even remembers her name is she finds something with it written down that ties to her levels of amnesia. (Note, this would not be a cop out on my part to make a backstory... I just would keep it separate from her IC knowledge pool and leave it to you as to when and what might trigger her learning it.)

2) I am leaning toward a drow (not noble as such) but dhampir is always a fun choice. With either, however, I do not typically like being a liability in normal light areas... so usually I work in reasons to their backstory to explain why they have alternate racials, etc. Are you opposed to this (or either race in particular) or would you want to see how it played out in the backstory before making a judgement?

3) Can I get the HP equivalents for Magus, Slayer, Investigator, and Fighter? I have ideas for two of those, and the other two are go-tos of mine when I run into a snag during creation.

Hope to have something soon.

Here's my avatar for this version of the Vixen.

Also, if picked I'll add a little detail to those five memories, likely in the profile of this avatar. For now, two things:

First, typo-corrections. Memory #5 shows a jade bracelet and long, fine black hair. In other words, "VV" has a Tien friend. (Tien will be "VV"'s second language.) Lover? Martial arts master? Fashion model? That straight friend she pines for anyway? Who knows? Not my character or me.

Second, it's possible that some (or even all five) memories are from stories this "VV" read of the real VV. And the real VV could be a real heroine from a hundred years ago, a heroine alive today on another continent, a fictional character... like I said earlier, she's a redhead who woke up thinking she's Batgirl.

This is a preliminary inspo image

Lasya Sundari is a determined but anxious personality. She is psychic but untrained. She has memories of swimming in a river with other children(probably siblings.), praying in a temple alongside an elderly person (probably a great-grandparent), being led through a meditation practice by a very patient mentor. Everything else is a blank.

Race Human (Vudrani)

Class Spiritualist

traits Desperate focus, Twitchy, Latent Psion

feats Emotional conduit, Vigilant Phantom

alignment Neutral Good

Scores Str 10,Dex 10, Con 10, Int 10, Wis 13, Chr 10

Reliability: My work is in ‘summer hours’ so that means I’ll have a lot of time on my hands. I am only in one PbP game so there is plenty of room for this one.

Hard limits: the only thing I cannot stand is sexual violence. Anything else is okay. I have a slight preference for psychological horror than body horror. Oh, and no dead babies please.

I'm incredibly interested. Putting together a Dhampir Oracle (possibly with the Psychic Searcher archetype).

Good luck you guys.

Was working on characters, and decided to submit a Tiefling pyrokineticist.

Light Crunch:

Character Name: Bulagma
Race: Tiefling (Devil), Prehensile Tail alternate racial feature (replaces Fiendish Sorcery)
Class: Kineticist (fire)
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Str 8, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 7

Feats: Weapon Finesse
Traits: Ever Wary (Race), Indentured Blacksmith (Regional, Kaoling), Pugnacious (Campaign)

Bulagma’s 5 Memories:

1. The heat, smell, and sounds of a forge as she swings a hammer down on the sword she is working on, and the feel of the chains around her ankles that keep her from running off. Thinking of the forge gives her a feeling of focus, and faint pride.

2. Being beaten by jeering hobgoblins after an escape attempt. Thinking of the hobgoblins makes her feel rage.

3. A Tian-Shu man - Zhen - treating her wounds and helping her recover after her escape. Thinking of him gives her a feeling of peace.

4. Zhen being taken away by the hobgoblins one day, and her never seeing him again. This memory gives her a keen sense of loss and sadness.

5. The forge burning down around her as she stands laughing in the heat, hobgoblins running to escape the flames. This memory gives her a sense of triumph and joy.

Bulagma’s Light Backstory:

Bulagma’s great-grandfather made a deal with a devil for power in Kaoling, it backfired, and the whole family was disgraced and then enslaved upon Bulagma’s birth. Bulagma was sent to be trained in smithing, and was raised a slave. She spent several years working in the forges, occasionally attempting to escape, and frequently attacking her captors. These events inevitably resulted in being beaten. In captivity, she met another slave, Zhen, who was the only one who ever treated her kindly, like a surrogate father. He tried teaching her to meditate and relax, but he was eventually taken away by the hobgoblins, and she never saw him again. Shortly afterwards, Bulagma’s kineticist powers manifested, and she burned down the forge where she worked, killing several hobgoblins.

Bulagma’s Appearance and Personality:

Bulagma looks like a devilish hobgoblin - a hobgoblin’s structure and build with red skin, horns, and pointed tail. She has normal hobgoblin feet, though, and considers herself to be average in most ways. She is typically dressed in the garb of a blacksmith - pants, boots, shirt, and leather apron. She has no recollection of ever owning anything valuable. Bulagma has been treated cruelly by almost everyone in her life - her hobgoblin slave masters and fellow slaves alike. The only person to show her kindness was Zhen. As a result of this, she expects everyone to try and take advantage of her, beat her, or otherwise treat her poorly. As far as she’s concerned, she has to look out for herself because no one else will. She has little in the way of social graces, and thinks that the only way to get what she wants is through force. However, if she were treated with kindness, the way Zhen did, she would likely soften towards that person, at least. Perhaps, if shown enough kindness by enough people, she could even change how she treats the world.

Link to post in Interest Check thread.

Theme I’m interested in exploring with Bulagma:

I chose Chaotic Neutral because Bulagma’s experience has made her very much a loner. One of the things I’d like to see happen with her is, as she gets to know and trust the party, realize that she doesn’t need to keep everyone out and that she can trust and even help other people. She’ll always have an individualistic streak (Chaotic), but I’d like her to slowly transition to a Chaotic Good alignment as she realizes she can care about people besides herself, and can actively help others.

No-Go Things:

I’d prefer to stay away from sexual violence. It isn’t something I’m interested in roleplaying, and it can be traumatic for a lot of people. I generally don’t explore romantic relationships with my characters, mostly from lack of interest, but also from watching other people I’ve played with monopolize game time so they can have an in-game relationship with each other. In the age before smartphones, it was really boring at the table when that happened.

Otherwise, there isn’t much I’d find an issue with. If something did come up, I would say something to you privately.

To you as well, Patrick the Kid!

Clarification for GM:
Just got a PM from Helikon.

It turns out "VV" is companion to Matsu Miyuki. (Good thing I was planning on Tien as my second language!)

I believe Strange Aeons has been PFS certified, but I won't run it using PFS rules, so no PFS credit will be given.

Thanks, Samy. I might trade CHA for INT for the extra SP/Lv. and so I can officially be both a genius (140 IQ) and a fool (WIS dump).

(So: s20-d10-c10-i14-w3-x8)

Gradually, the Vixen will be come wiser, then prettier at Lv.10. I know you're not planning to play to Lv.20, but if we did, I'd have STR 25, DEX 22, and everything else at 14. And that would all be on this profile if Paizo didn't have that backtracking error.

Note to self: select all, copy, then click Preview.

You do not have to. You just have to run the relevant parts with pathfinder characters afaik.

I'm gonna say d6 for Investigator and Occultist as they are roguelike and bardlike. Kineticist is so unique that I'm not going to try to balance it to any D&D class -- it may keep the d8 hit die.

I had understood that the point of PFS was that all campaigns are run under the same rules?

I do not typically like being a liability in normal light areas... so usually I work in reasons to their backstory to explain why they have alternate racials

Can I get the HP equivalents for Magus, Slayer, Investigator, and Fighter?

The more you don't remember, the better, IMO. Remembering literally nothing is great, go for it.

As long as the drow/dhampir alternate racials are from official books, go for it. Remember that dhampirs have a serious problem not only with light, but also with positive energy healing, and I don't think there are any alternate racials to remove that.

Magus = d6
Slayer = d8
Investigator = d6
Fighter = d10

The adventure as written does have dead children, fair warning, but no dead *babies* specifically that I recall.

No alternate racial traits, but there is a feat for it. Just dropping the link for anyone wanting to play a dhampir.

Okies, back to the thinking board.

Danior, a NE Dhampir Mesmerist of Varisian ethnicity. I'm still considering taking the Life-Dominant Soul feat instead of Spell Focus, but I'm not quite sold on either yet. I love the idea of playing an evil character who has no memory being evil and think it could make for a fascinating character arc.

EDIT: Changed class from Oracle to a Mesmerist for a little more occult/vampiric flavor.

Light Crunch:

Danior
NE Dhampir Mesmerist

Str 7 Dex 15 Con 7 Int 10 Wis 8 Cha 18

Traits:
Foe of the Strange (Campaign)
Undead Slayer (Racial)
Varisian Wanderer (Regional)

Feats:
Spell Focus (Enchantment)

Memories:

The sound of a gasp and the taste of hot blood.

Being led by a Varisian woman down a forest path, clutching the woman’s skirt and squinting against the painfully bright sunlight that filters through the trees.

The smell of woodsmoke as dozens of people laugh and dance around a huge bonfire.

Hands shaking, sore, and blistered as they carve a stake from a branch of hawthorn.

A beautiful human girl with blood dripping from a wound on her lip.

Player Info:

I've only been on the boards for a year and a half, but have been able to post consistently ever since. I'm part of a few other games, two of which have been ongoing for over a year. I only work nights and always have plenty of time to post during the day (and sometimes, very late at night).

Limits:

Sexual assault, and I'm definitely not a fan of casual use racist/homophobic/transphobic slurs.

Gotcha on all fronts (and yes, I am aware of that drawback... I can find ways around that one, but being perpetually dazed from light is a bit much). Appreciate the answers, wheels are in full spin.

Player options in Occult and Horror Adventures should be okay as far as I recall. A samsaran would be great for Strange Aeons.

Thank you!

I have the general concept, I just wanted to see if there was some crunch to back-up the concept. She would be a Samsaran oracle, probably committed to the asylum (just a suggestion) due to visions/voices/etc arising from her curse. Her memories would be coming back but she’d be doubting if they were her’s or her ancestors. I know its kind of weird to exacerbate the problem and its recovery, but I can see an oracle tuned into the ‘cosmic horror’, having glimpsed it in her prior lives (possibly a reborn samsaran from horror) and it haunts her from life to life. (Again, just a general idea to frame how the developments of the campaign would influence her)

The best part of cosmic horror is the gradual revelation of your tiny place in the universe and how it melts your mind. She would be carrying out the culmination of many lifetimes of being exposed to the ‘truth’ and it shattering her each time. It would be the struggle of her playing out a cycle that has plagued her and her overcoming and eventually triumphing (probably :). Banishing this destructive cycle from her lives for good.

Sorry, I tend to think through the history and possible evolution and growth opportunities for the characters then slowly work in crunch to fit, tweaking the character conception some as I discover cool tweaks to a build. It is difficult to not think through the details of her history :D

I’m also very excited at the meta-situation of no men and known limits on trigger things. It’ll be a safe haven, but done with horror - super cool.

I’ll go work up the light crunch, memories, and your other requirements in a few hours when I get home from work.

I realized there is another brawler in the running, an earlier and arguably more enthusiastic submission than mine XD

Instead, I'd like to try something very exotic. How would you feel about an Astomoi(Astomos?) Psychic?

Background:

Class:Psychic(Rapport discipline)

Traits: Born under the Green Star(Regional, Castrovel), Desperate Focus, Sensitive Mind(AP)

Memories: living in/near Sovyrian, on Castrovel. Working as a cook. Having psychic powers a little beyond the norm for her race.

Personality: She is selfless, and derives great satisfaction from seeing close friends safe and happy. She likes to solve problems without violence. She would more prefer to gain a friend than destroy an enemy.

Appearance: A gangly feminine silhouette with shoulder length hair. Like the majority of her people, she is comfortable with nudity, and tends to not wear anything without some immediate utility.

Limits: Same as what most others are saying, in regards to sexual violence, etc. I believe if we all play with maturity and empathy, things will work out ok.

Adventure Paths allow a group of PFS non-legal characters to run through the adventure and get the chronicle sheets to apply to legal characters for credit. Here is the quote from the sanctioning document rules for Strange Aeons:

Quote:
Alternatively, if you are participating in the Strange Aeons Adventure Path with an ongoing group undertaking the entire, six-chapter campaign, you may receive credit for playing the sanctioned portions of the adventure as if you had played a pregenerated character. In this case, GMs running the Adventure Path are not bound to the rules of the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild campaign (such as 20-point buy, unavailability of hero points, etc.) when running the campaign or the sanctioned portion of the adventure. Pathfinder Society characters and characters from an ongoing Adventure Path campaign may not play in the same adventure.

I did up the crunch, memories, about me, etc.

Light Crunch:

Erisa
LN Samsaran Oracle (Dual-Cursed, Spirit Guide)
Mystery: Time
Curses: Haunted, Aboleth (Never changes)
Revelations: Temporal Celerity, Misfortune
Feat: Extra Revelation
Traits: Corpse Dodger (Ustalav), Methodical Mind (Campaign) [Know (Dungeon), Know (Arcane), Know (Planes)], Mystery Initiate
STR: 8 DEX: 10 CON: 9 INT: 12 WIS: 12 CHA: 14
Skills: Know(Arcana), Know (Dungeon), Know (Planes), Perception, Spellcraft, Use Magic Device, Craft (Bookbinding), Profession (Librarian)
Spells:
0: Detect Magic, Ghost Sound, Guidance, Light, Mage Hand, Scrivener's Chant
1: Bless, Charm Person, Command, Cure Light Wounds, Hypnotism

5 Memories:

* Sitting curled up in mother's lap on a cold winter's night by a fire in mother's library while she reads from an ancient book about our ancestors.
* Playing in a rose garden as a child with butterflies all around me, some even landing on me, while my father works the garden.
* Running away from a zombie that had pushed its way up through the earth in the graveyard and hiding in some bushes while it shambled by, heart beating like a drum so loud I thought the zombie would hear it and see me.
* Standing in front of a large, round crystalline window looking out over a bottomless black gulf into an enormous alien eye larger than a mountain embedded in a wall of strange flesh stretching out of sight in all directions.
* Wrapped in tentacles and covered in mucous deep underwater staring into three glowing eyes as they pierced my mind and soul and told me lies I could not unbelieve.

Character Conception/Development:

(It's what I typed in the thread - although looking back probably way more detailed than you want.)
She is a Samsaran oracle, probably committed to the asylum (just a suggestion) due to visions/voices/etc arising from her curse. Her memories would be coming back but she'd be doubting if they were her's or her ancestors. I know its kind of weird to exacerbate the problem and its recovery, but I can see an oracle tuned into the 'cosmic horror', having glimpsed it in her prior lives (possibly a reborn samsaran from horror) and it haunts her from life to life. She would be carrying out the culmination of many lifetimes of being exposed to the 'truth' and it shattering her each time. It would be the struggle of her playing out a cycle that has plagued her and her overcoming and eventually triumphing (probably :). Banishing this destructive cycle from her lives for good.

Appearance:

Like her (It's super hard to find bluish gothic woman pictures that aren't dripping in vampires, ravens, bats, and wolves.)
I'm thinking that her eyes turn like that when she casts spells - sort of like how shaman spell casting results in small visible effects.

Dark blue hair, blue eyes, over 6', willow thin, and pale blue skin that looks like it hasn't been outside much. She dresses in nice clothing, generally scholarly outfits fit for sitting around in dusty libraries. Random paper stuck in her pockets for taking notes. She'll wear her hair up generally, with a couple of quill pens stuck in the bun for easy access. Not much for jewelry.

Player Info:

I've DMed games IRL for most of the past 25 years. Participated in a 7 year daily PBEM campaign. Have participated in a few PbP campaigns on Paizo stretching back to 2012, although none of them seem to last more than a few months so far due to DMs wandering off.

If you'd like a sample of my writing for backstories:
* Sharda - Its very long, the DM gave bonuses for extra backstory.
* Rose - A bit more normal in length. It's for a Tyrant's Grasp campaign.

I'm participating in a Tyrant's Grasp PbP campaign right now. I check the boards generally in the morning and evening.

Do Not Wants (Possible Triggers):

* Rape, forced attraction to men
* Sexual menace and violence always seems so gratuitous and unnecessary, there are plenty of threats and violence that can be explored without sexual overtones. It's not a showstopper, but it makes me doubt the abilities of the writer. I get enough gratuitous bs from men irl, I don't need it in the game.

MattZ wrote:

Thanks for noticing, Matt! Can't help myself. I'm rather intrigued by the AP house rule. It gives the character sort of a from-kitten-to-lioness feel.

@Samy,
How does retraining HP work with gold? I don't mind paying for 9 hp if I roll a 1 on a d10, and having to hold off on whatever magic item as a result. I just want to know if it's affordable.

Personally, I'd hope the party would be willing to pool gold so we all pay for max HP... but up to the party if I'm in it, and easy to say when you have a d10 character who will surely spend more than a d6 character.

GM / Curious Peeps:
Also, as promised, my PC's profile will be ready by July 2. It sounds like you'll have your decision by then, but I'm keeping my word either way. I actually have a Google Sheet for my character sheet because I tend to play by phone and can't update on the Paizo profile.

Leveling is so much quicker this way! (Seriously... even if I don't make the cut, I want to do this for my other PbPs.) When I type the level, my sheet updates stats, feats, skill bonuses, max HP, and progressive class features such as unarmed/improv damage dice, # of martial flex/day, etc.

You can click here: {CHARACTER SHEET}

In the click-my-name profile, I have a link to the character sheet, the image of VV (my own artwork, so the link will work until Facebook dies), and I'm working on slightly more detailed versions of the five memories.

Retraining rules

Short version: 30gp x your level = increase hit points by 1

So at 2nd level for example, 60gp/hit point.
