Qstor-Siathorn cuases her 'wolf's' fangs to extend out menancingly as the beast clumsily takes to the air. It bobs up and down, landing in front of Grenek as it pecks at him like some sort of over-sized chicken.

Grenek slows by a great deal as he feels his body begin to calcify. he looks on in horror at the rest of the statues in the room, wondering if he would soon join their ranks.

Luke-Siathorn moves into the chamber, tossing a javelin into the oversized chicken's side. Crimsi follows it up with a crossbow bolt into the beasts wing as it let's out a wounded and angry squawk.

Qstor-Siathorn recognizes the creature as a Cockatrice. As you have already seen it's beak can cause a creature to calcify and turn to a statue over time.

Pizazz rockets a trio of magical missiles into the bird. Numerous feathers fling into the air as it's wings beat in terror. Meanwhile the remainder of the goblins sluggish strikes all miss.

That is until Crimsi loads a new bolt into his crossbow. Taking aim the bolt pierces right through the cockatrice's eye. It's head lolls about and it falls limply to the ground like a bag of potatoes.

The slow condition for the cockatrice lasts for 24 hours. If you were to get slow 3 you would become petrified.

@Siathorn- It does not say at all. This is all of the information from the Bestiary on it.

    Cockatrice Calcification:

Calcification (primal, transmutation) A peck from a cockatrice
hardens the flesh of the creature hit. It must succeed at a
DC 17 Fortitude save or be slowed 1 (or slowed 2 on a critical
failure). Further pecks increase the slowed condition by 1.
Once a creature’s actions are reduced to 0 by calcification, that
    creature becomes petrified.

Every 24 hours after it was petrified, the victim can attempt
a DC 17 Fortitude save to recover. On a success, it becomes
flesh again, but is slowed 1 for the next 24 hours. On a critical
success, the creature recovers and isn’t slowed. On a failure,
the creature remains petrified, but can try again in 24 hours. On
a critical failure, the petrification is permanent and the creature
    can’t attempt any more saves.

She beams a smile your way. "I am Jaeren." She places a hand on her chest to signify that is her name as she speaks slowly. She looks down at the small idol. "That is interesting, though let's speak more once we are to safety!"

She follows the way down the tunnel, hobbling along with the rest of the injured goblins. A rickety wooden door in a roughly made wall is built into the cave opening here, blocking the view of what lies beyond, although tiny chinks between the boards allow a bit of light through.

The interior of this shack is neat and tidy, with a human-sized bed, a finely crafted bureau, and a workbench covered with numerous glass vials, metal bowls, and assorted lab equipment. The cleanliness and order are marred only by words and phrases painted on the walls.

The writing consists of various combinations of “kill the chicken!” Found writing on the walls is a thin homunculus. It turns as it hears the door open. Near the back door a bureau leaps to attack the intruders!

Jaeren quickly pushes her way through the goblins. "Stop! It is me. These goblins saved my life." She breathes heavily as if over-exerting herself a bit. She and the homunculus seem to share a small conversation telepathically as it writes on the wall.

Jaeren seems to continue her silent conversation with the creature. She motions to the goblins a few times and back to the homunculus. "This is Wit, homunculus. I left my home before my arrest, dabbling too much in alchemical alternatives to the highly valued sun orchid elixir that can extend one’s life. To further complicate matters, my experimentation and self-testing affected my mind." She holds her head. "I keep forgetting things...mostly my spells." She shows the room in a hurry as she ushers you to the back door. "I found this cave and made it my home. Some time ago I came across that cockatrice out looking for fungus." She waves her hand. "Never mind all that we should hurry." She lays a hand on Wit's shoulder, reassuring the homunculus that she will be back as she opens the back door.

Beyond the southeastern door is a chamber where the wizard stores some of the more volatile reagents she uses in her research. Aware that a very narrow tunnel runs between this area and the place just to the east, she placed rubble around it to inhibit, if not totally stop, intruders. She used this narrow tunnel on her last journey when the cockatrice attacked her, so it is mostly unblocked right now.

    Which direction?

Ahead, the floor ends suddenly in a jagged outcropping of rock that reaches a few feet into the air. Beyond the outcropping is a massive natural cavern, its floor far below. Barely visible at the bottom of this pit lies a narrow column of rock, shattered and broken like the spine of a giant beast. On the other side of the pit, the passage continues to the southeast.

The natural bridge that once spanned this crevasse fell away some time ago, cutting off easy access from one end of the passageway to the other. The pit is 30 feet deep, and the distance between the outcroppings is 20 feet at their closest points. Luckily you found Jaeren and she showed you another way around the pit.

    Siathorn whistles, slowly.

    "Thaaat... is a big pit!"

She then follows the others down the other tunnel.

Pizazz passes by the pit and hollers down it in curiosity. "HELLOOOoooOOOooo"

"It is a big pit!" He then presses on to get to the other longshnaks, as he does so he moves closer to Jaeren, "Would you like a song? You must be starved for music after having been a statue for so long!"
