After one last day of searching for Onamae, the party realizes that she is beyond their reach (for now) and ponders what to do next. Belric has returned to normal, although tongues still wag about the murders surrounding the Carnival, and the hot scandal that was Borvius and the hitherto undiscovered thieves guild.
The party is taking their evening meal and some rest at their favorite establishment when one of Feldane's deputies comes crashing in searching for you-I'm sorry sirs, but the Sheriff says to come quick. A group of goblin raiders has come out of the forest and is setting fire to the stocks of lumber in the warehouse district!...he pauses for a moment, clearly working through his mind for something....Uh, pink?

Detecting no evil (codeword skeptic!) the party follows the deputy out into the night. Tarvoth quickly catches the scent of wood burning smoke and even Weed can make out the glint of flames coming from the warehouse district. After a few minutes of hurried travel you make it to a street corner where the bodies of more than a dozen goblins, a few wolves, one BIG wolf, and at least one human lie in plain sight. Sheriff Feldane and 5 deputies (all wounded) look apprehensively in the direction of the flames in the nearby warehouse district.
Feldane catches sight of the party-Thank the gods you came! These goblins came out of nowhere and have set about torching the town's stocks of raw lumber and finished wood. What force I have been able to assemble I am using to try and block the key intersections and stop them from moving further into town. As you can see, we are holding for now but it is costing us. I can't do much more until more people arrive, then maybe we can push in and try and corral the flames before we lose the entire town.
I need to you to get in there and see if you can disrupt their efforts. Someone has to be leading them, this is far to well organized for just goblins; but be careful, there are more than just wolves and goblins out there. We've seen a few worgs as well as a hobgoblin or two.
Will you help us?
| Tarvoth |
“Of course we’ll help sheriff, let’s go take a look.”
Move off in whatever direction sheriff points us to when everyone is ready to go.

I think this would be your melee:

+1 great axe (no WF, PA) +9, 1d12+11
+1 great sword (WF) +11, 2d6+8

Turran casts some spells of protection before the party moves forward into the thick smoke and growing heat from the wood fires. Sheriff Feldane asked you to explore the warehouse district and disrupt any bands of goblins so she could lead in the fire brigades to quell the flames.

Tarvoth hears the squeals of goblin glee and leads the party in the direction that he thinks they came from. After a few cautious minutes of advancing through the smoke shrouded streets, you come upon a scene of over a dozen green-skinned goblins dancing about the edge of a building that is thoroughly on fire. The goblins are throwing various items (mostly wood) into the flames and laughing near hysterically as the flames grow higher. On the other side of the building two regular-sized wolves are busy feeding on the remains of a dead human. In the middle of all the mayhem stands a human-sized grey skinned goblin that appears to be supervising the otherwise chaotic scene.

You can 5' step and bow unless they have the step up feat (which these particular goblins don't;-D). Who do you fire on?
You could have also pulled your rapier (move action) w/o an AOO.

Plus, didn't you go great sword vs. Rapier?
Still willing to consider the greatsword, but I was still planning on doing weapon finesse at some point.

Turran over focuses on channeling energy into his blade and misses on his stroke. The tiny goblin that Weed swings at, ducks inside the arc of his axe.
