Rhodoh opens the door and sees a massive cavern beyond but its rather dark. He can make out some flames illuminating an altar of some sort on the far side of the cavern. A massive shape moves in front of the light, casting a massive shadow.
The final chamber is now slide 1 while the preliminary chamber is slide 2. Note that without darkvision you can't see very well if you're far from a light spell or the altar, which sheds bright light in a 60 ft radius and dim light for another 60 ft.
Pyuvir and Calardan may yet go!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

Calardan strides into the room with the majestic authority only one with dragon blood in their veins could muster. He utters an arcane phrase and slowly grows in size as he walks forward.
sorry, missed the update, walking in and casting enlarge person.

caster4life |

Calardan, you are still far away from that door. Can you move yourself on the map? Also, enlarge person is a full round casting time so how are you moving while casting it? Third question, can you make it clearer what your AC is after enlarge person reduces it by 2? Hard to tell from your status line.
Pyuvir may still go.

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

Artistic liberty, I merely meant it as "entering" the room. I'm away from my computer due to being at momocon past few days, so I can't move my token at the moment as my phone seems to not like working with it. I did say that Calardan moved to the door in one of my past posts IIRC. So I would be 5ft in the door Following that I think. (5ft step in whilst casting) For armor, 32 is unbuffed AC, (39) is AC buffed with mage armor/barkskin, 43 is mage armor, barkskin, shield. So atm it would be 41.

caster4life |

Sure Calardan. I moved you to just inside the new/final room and enlarged your token. Pyuvir still to go.

caster4life |

Can you guys see the discussion thread I added? I mentioned the fact that I've PMed Pyuvir with no response.

caster4life |

Touch attacks: 2d20 ⇒ (7, 19) = 26
Fort: 2d20 ⇒ (1, 19) = 20
Dams: 4d8 ⇒ (4, 2, 8, 8) = 22
Rhodoh and Calardan rush into the next chamber. There they see a great monstrosity of a beetle with its many compound eyes glowing red. In addition, two massive, demonic looking spiders grasp the walls. The beetle flies forward and lands with a heavy thud before the door while the spiders scuttle forward and fire webs! Both Calardan and Rhodoh are entangled! The webs drip with some vile poison and Calardan (6) and Rhodoh (8) are both hurt by it.
Poison damage before any resistance you may have. Oddly enough, Calardan failed the save against the damage and Rhodoh made it but Rhodoh's poison damage roll was much higher. Party, GO! Matin, feel free to rush in here and leave Pyuvir to have fun with the termites.

Matin Ayoob |

Matin reactivates his Boots of Speed (Swift action) and charges into the room and, noticing the large beetle near the entrance, moves to the south away from Calardan and Rhodoh. He plants himself there and takes a swipe at the large bug with his Bardiche.
Bardiche: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30
Damage: 2d8 + 29 ⇒ (3, 8) + 29 = 40
Bardiche: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39
Damage: 2d8 + 29 ⇒ (5, 7) + 29 = 41
Bardiche: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (7) + 21 = 28
Damage: 2d8 + 29 ⇒ (1, 4) + 29 = 34
AoO from large beetle I assume based on my movement. Also, I'm a little fuzzy on how many rounds its been since the fight started, I think 4? So I think I have 5 rounds left on Enlarge person, considering I got it up right before we charged in.

caster4life |

Entangled but not glued to the floor. It was a touch attack that hit but you can make a strength check or escape artist check as an action to break free against the DC. This is just the web universal monster ability.
Will address Matin's AoO and round question when I update the round.

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

my touch ac is 27 atm, those spiders have a +20 on touch attacks? Scary bois. Note, thats assuming you rolled to hit and saves respectively.
str: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Calardan struggles to get the webbing off.

Rhodoh Noerhon |

Trying to break free then.
STR check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Am I in range for an attack? Enlarged and using a great sword. Is breaking free a move action or standard?

caster4life |

I think this is currently round 6.
Yes the giant demon spiders have a great web attack.
Rhoboh breaks out of the web but Calardan fails to do so.
Breaking free is a standard according to the universal web ability.
Matin moves in and strikes at the beetle but its hard armored back and wing cases deflect the blow with no effect. The beetle lashes back at Matin but barely misses with a big claw of a leg.
AoO: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (6) + 23 = 29
Dam: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (8, 2, 7) + 15 = 32
Fort Calardan: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Dam: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 5) = 12
Bite Calardan: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Web Matin: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25
Beetle claws 2 each: 6d20 ⇒ (18, 13, 18, 2, 1, 20) = 72
Dam Calardan: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (6, 8, 7) + 14 = 35
Dam Rhodon: 6d8 + 28 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 5, 2, 3) + 28 = 50
Confirm Matin: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Fort Matin: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Dam Matin: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 2) = 9
Dam: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (3, 7, 2) + 14 = 26
The great demonic spiders then rush forward. One bites at Calardan but even though the monk is webbed it cannot land a blow on him. The poisonous web, however, continues to wear away at Calardan (12 dam). The other fires a web at Matin, provoking from him and taking a savage blow for it. (Matin, you are now entangled. DC 20 to break free. You also failed the fort save against the web poison with a nat 1, taking 9 poison damage). The beetle then shifts its position, hovering in the air and freeing its long powerful legs to attack. Its hard wing cases lift off its back, revealing large powerful wings underneath. With its weight off the ground, it attacks with every one of its legs, striking Calardan once (35 damage), Rhoboh twice (50 damage), and Matin once (26 damage).
Party GO! These bugs are very mean and there's a trick to dealing with the beetle, who's very hard to damage.

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

just wanted to check, we are taking "poison" damage correct? Its not a regular energy type that resist energy can protect against yes? Wanted to check before I decided what I want to do precisely.

caster4life |

It counts as acid and could be resisted. The spiders look somewhat tough but are not nearly as tough as the beetle.

Matin Ayoob |

Ok, so that means I have 3 more rounds of Enlarge, and 6 more of Haste
Matin, entangled in the poisonous web, ignores it and focuses on the spider that attacked him. His arms become sheathed in crackling electric energy (Elemental Assault-swift action gives 1d6 electrical dmg on all melee attacks for 10 rounds) and swings his Bardiche at the spider furiously.
Bardiche 1: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37
Damage: 2d8 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 29 + (6) = 43
Bardiche 2: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 20
Damage: 2d8 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 29 + (2) = 40
Bardiche 3: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Damage: 2d8 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 29 + (5) = 40
You've got to be kidding me.
Bardiche 1: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (14) + 19 = 33
Damage: 2d8 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ (8, 2) + 29 + (3) = 42
Bardiche 2: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31
Damage: 2d8 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 7) + 29 + (2) = 42

caster4life |

Matin strikes one heavy, solid blow at the spider, leaving it half-dead, but can't seem to connect with his next two swings.
Very poor luck indeed. Rhodoh and Calardan still to go.

Rhodoh Noerhon |

Feeling the beetle's claws ripping in to him Rhodoh knows he won't survive much longer. With an angry roar he wildly swings his huge black blade into the beetle.
Continuing the Haste from boots and Power Attacking
Attack #1: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (16) + 22 = 38
damage: 6d6 + 25 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 3, 2, 6) + 25 = 42
Attack #2: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 20
damage: 6d6 + 25 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 4, 6, 5) + 25 = 50
Attack #3: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
damage: 6d6 + 25 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 3, 6, 3) + 25 = 49
That's six rolls and three fumbles.... My guess is we're cursed! Ave morituri te salutant!!!

caster4life |

Rhodoh unleashes three furious attacks. One of them is very powerful and nearly manages to damage the beetle through the tough armor covering its back.
As stated before, the beetle is very tough and there's a trick for dealing with him. Also as stated before, you might need a fourth character to play your mage here.
Web Calardan: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23
Attacks C: 2d20 ⇒ (16, 6) = 22
Attacks R: 2d20 ⇒ (1, 8) = 9
Attacks M: 2d20 ⇒ (18, 3) = 21
Dam C: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (7, 1, 8) + 15 = 31
Dam R: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (8, 1, 1) + 15 = 25
Dam M: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (6, 7, 4) + 15 = 32
Seeing Matin webbed, the spider moves forward to bite him. He lashes out hard and barely manages to kill the demonic creature. The spider fighting Calardan attempts to web him (provoking from Calardan) but misses horribly (nat 1). The beetle hovers again in the air for a split second as it lashes out with all six appendages.
39 to hit Calardan for 31 damage. I think that misses but hard to tell Calardan's AC. The other was definitely a miss.
Nat 1 then 31 to hit Rhodoh for 25 damage. I believe Rhodoh is now unconscious.
41 to hit Matin for 32 damage. The other was definitely a miss.
Party, GO!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

AoO: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
damage: 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (3, 2) + 20 = 25
without the entangled condition, my AC is 41 due to the enlarge person spell.
wait for it to jump, then strike its under belly!
As he speaks, calardan calls upon his innate magic, causing himself to shrink in size two fold of what he was.
using SLA alter self, reduced to size "small" and gaining a +2 to dex, AC is now currently 45. Touch is 31. Unarmed damage down to 1d8 base.

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

no, just by 2. Here is the spell alter self so my strength is basically back to normal. But my reach does go down sadly.

caster4life |

Ah for some reason I didn't read that and thought it was a reduce person spell being cast in addition to somehow dismissing the enlarge person. But that wouldn't make sense.

Matin Ayoob |

Matin watches the beetle looking for the opening that Calardan mentioned. He holds until the beetle's carapace raises and STRIKES and readies his shield to intercept an attack at him (Mobile stronghold feat lets me negate one attack a day as an immediate action).
Not sure if this held action will let me use a standard action attack or a full round attack so I'll roll for a full.
Bardiche 1: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21
damage: 2d8 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 29 + (3) = 37
Bardiche 2: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31

Bardiche 1 confirm: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22
Bardiche 2: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
damage: 2d8 + 29 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 29 + (1) = 36

caster4life |

Spider grapple: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Beetle attacks: 6d20 ⇒ (8, 1, 2, 14, 1, 14) = 40
Damage: 6d8 + 30 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 3, 4, 7) + 30 = 53
Calardan shrinks down in size and, seeing the small size of its prey, the spider tries to grasp it (provoking) but fails.
Calardan, what's your CMD right now? I'm pretty sure the spider failed but it'd be nice to know if the number is up to date.
Matin has the right idea and his readied attack nearly hits the beetle's exposed belly! But his swing is remarkably unlucky and can't manage to get past even the softer side of the carapace. The beetle lashes out at its foes and strikes Matin to the ground.
Readied action can only be a standard action. Delaying can only move you to before or after the beetle, not interrupt his turn. First hit negated. Second attack nat 1. Third attack was 37 to hit for 29 damage. Calardan, go!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

CMD should be the same as normal +1 for small I think, I don't remember if the small size is -1 to CMB and Cmd or just Cmb. So its either 37 or 38 atm. AC is 43 atm.
Calardan swings at the spider as it leaps towarda him, then takes a single step to try and line up the last spider and beetle before unleashing a cone of freezing air onto both of them.
aoo: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21
dragonbreath: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 5, 6) = 23 cold damage, DC 19 reflex save for half.

caster4life |

Attacks: 6d20 ⇒ (16, 1, 6, 19, 3, 13) = 58
Acid dam: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4
Claw dam: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (3, 2, 2) + 15 = 22
Wow that dice have been remarkably against you guys here.
Marvelously, both massive insects dodge the blast of cold quite effectively but are still damaged somewhat. The great spider, with demonic wiles, backs up and throws a web over Caladran! The acid begins eating away at the Aasimar.
40 to hit tAC with a very lucky roll. 4 acid damage DC 20 fort save for half.
The beetle lashes out with all six legs while exposing its soft belly in mid-air.
A lot of misses but one that was 42 to hit for 22 damage. I think that hits with you entangled? But I'm never sure of your AC. XD Calardan, go!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

Cal grunts, stepping closer to the beetle. Ignoring the acid for now, he readies a strike taking up a defensive stance for when the beetle moves to attack again.
fort: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
readied attack: 1d20 + 17 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 17 - 2 - 4 = 30
damage: 1d8 + 29 ⇒ (4) + 29 = 33
web spamming OP. Fighting defensivly, AC is 43, including entangled, HP is 30.

caster4life |

Yeah the spider hasn't had luck catching you otherwise so it's at with what worked. 2v1 is the big problem here. And creatures with web are able to fire it off many times/day.
Calardan strikes a blow at the beetle, damaging its soft stomach. The acid of the web continues to eat away at him.
Acid: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 7) = 13DC 20 fort for half.
Stepping forward, Calardan is struck at for his trouble.
Beetle was 15 ft away so you'd have to move 10, I believe.
The spider and beetle then continue to attack.
Attacks: 8d20 ⇒ (2, 13, 13, 7, 7, 11, 12, 11) = 76
For now, Calardan manages to dodge all blows.
Calardan, GO!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

fort: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
defensivecast: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22 casting resist energy, acid (20). Legit can't catch a break haha. Hoping I can survive another round of attacks... can I cast defensively as well haha. Need every bit of AC I can scrounge up. Hp is 17. Oof.

caster4life |

Calardan manages to cast the spell!
Acid: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
Attacks: 7d20 ⇒ (9, 17, 15, 17, 17, 14, 9) = 98
The massive demonic insects crush their legs into the stonework but the small Aasimar dodges again and again.
Highest to hit was 40. Calardan, GO!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

Calardan takes on the defensive stance again, readying a strike for when the beetle jumps to strike.
attack: 1d20 + 17 - 6 ⇒ (16) + 17 - 6 = 27
damage: 1d8 + 29 ⇒ (4) + 29 = 33
AC is 43. Just hoping he don't get a nat 20..

caster4life |

Calardan's previous round fort save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Burned a nat 20 from the roller for you, you clever dog. No damage after resist energy.
With seven rolls around its bound to happen eventually...
Acid this round: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 1) = 8
Fort save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
So again no acid damage. I believe your resist acid grants resist 10. Your CL isn't 7+ somehow, is it? Magical knack brings it up to 6.
The demonic arthropods unleash their assault again!
Attacks: 7d20 ⇒ (18, 1, 6, 10, 3, 11, 5) = 54
And they miss repeatedly!
Calardan, go! Your current AC is accounting for the entangled penalty?

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

no you are right, Need to read my own spells, I could have sworn it changed at CL6. Also, I am an idiot, I've completely forgotten something thag could have saved me HP. Stunning fist. Clearly I need a little more actual practice with this build haha. AC is 43 taking into account entangled and fighting defensively.
Calardan again takes a defensive stance, readies a strike and aims to stun the behemoth beetle. DC 22 fort save be stunned for 1 round.
attack: 1d20 + 17 - 6 ⇒ (19) + 17 - 6 = 30

No worries. Builds take many levels to really get comfortable with.
Beetle fort: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Acid: 2d8 ⇒ (8, 3) = 11
C fort: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
1 acid damage.
Attks: 7d20 ⇒ (10, 9, 6, 6, 2, 19, 18) = 70
Calardan, by fighting very carefully, manages to dodge all assalt. He retaliates!
GO!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

Calardan waits again for the beetle to jump to strike, trying to aim for anything that seemed like a vital spot.
attack: 1d20 + 17 - 6 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 17 - 6 + 1 = 24 ... forgot being small gives +1 to hit... another stunning fist. DC 22 fort. AC is the same

caster4life |

Acid: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 7) = 13
Fort: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Calardan misses the beetle, not even penetrating the softer belly. The acid eats away at him slightly.
3 acid dam gets thru.
Attacks: 7d20 ⇒ (5, 11, 12, 1, 5, 5, 8) = 47
All attacks miss again.
Calardan, GO!

Beetle fort: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Acid dam to Calardan: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Calardan fort: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
No damage to Calardan due to low acid roll.
Attacks: 7d20 ⇒ (8, 9, 13, 16, 4, 6, 1) = 57
The giant vermin lash out again without result.
Calardan, GO!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

More than a little frustrated, calardan turns his attention to the pestering spider, grows claws and fangs, and tears into the softer creature. Should it fall, he diverts his remaining strikes at the giant beetle.

The monstrosities lash out again and the beetle nearly ends Calardan with a mighty thrust but he dodges at the last possible second (42 to hit).
Calardan, go!

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

alright, lunch break.... gotta decide who to focus.
Grunting in frustration, Cal looks between the two, trying to gauge how injured either is before making a desicion.
perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
can cal tell how healthy/injured the big beetle and spider are before he attacks?

caster4life |

The spider is certainly closer to death than the beetle. Another attack routine like the last one would come close to killing the spider but certainly not the beetle.

Calardan Amorath Iothor |

Cal decides to go for the spider.
