Rose tries to backup and squeeze an arrow between a narrow gap and all of those people, but she hits the outside of the doorframe and doesn't come close.

The snake sees that Mithralline is about to break free soon and turns towards her, hissing something that resembles Paxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx as it lashes out and bites her again. Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 damage + a DC 13 Fortitude save or be paralyzed for 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds.

Rose delays, waiting for an opening on the creature. The wicked snake lunges at Mithralline and would had injured her had it not been for the cackling witch outside of the room. Damn you misfortune!

Aralah's second shot finally does the trick, knocking the head off the snake-like creature and shattering the metallic spine. Out of combat!

This room contains the remains of a wooden table and two chairs—evidence of days long ago when this palace was likely occupied by humanoids of some kind. A ladder leads up to the floor above.

Despite her words, it's clear the wound wasn't minor, as blood flows down her leg from deep punctures in her thigh. Down 10 hp.

She kicks the snake to make sure it's dead and see if there's anything of use on it.

Aralah, ok from the fight, waits for the others to get healed before she moves over to the ladder and notes to the others "We still need to find this old queen. Let me scout up there and I will whistle if it is all clear for you to come up."

Sam sighs as the fighting ends and shakes her head as they go to look for more. "Oh my... this is tough..." But as Aralah goes, she taps her on the shoulder "Be careful!"

"Thanks," Mithralline says with a smile as Laurel heals her. She hefts her lance again as she waits for Aralah to return, antsily shifting her weight from foot to foot as someone else heads up the ladder first.

Aralah climbs the ladder slowly, taking her time and being quiet. When she reaches the top there is an 80'5' corridor with another ladder heading up on the opposite end. Except for a long weapon rack against the south wall, this room is bare.

Once Aralah indicates it's safe, Mithralline follows her up, ready to proceed to the next ladder. She hopes there are no chutes here to be found.

Aralah eyes the hall cautiously. She whistles for the others to come up and after they do she notes "Let me check it out, I'll let you know when it is safe."

She moves down the hall quietly and slowly checking for traps along the way.

Sarela follows up once it's safe, eyeing the weapon rack as they go up.

The group begins to climb the ladder and follow Aralah up into the room. Once everyone is up and begins to eye the weapon rack full of weapons, she moves not-so-quietly down the corridor, reaching the other side without problem.

Or almost without a problem.

Once she is within inches of the ladder her foot catches on a razor-thin tripwire that turns the rack of weapons into a death trap. Sam, Sarela, Mithralline and Laurel are all injured when a dozen weapons are flung with great force from the rack to the other side of the room. Everyone but Aralah takes 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8 damage from flying blades that embed themselves into your body.

After the trap has been sprung, everyone sorts through the weapons and finds an adamantine warhammer is the prized possession of the lot. Let me know when you want to go up, Aralah.

Aralah turns and gasps when the weapons fly across the room and slam into the others. Seeing no one is dead she mouths 'Sorry'... She will wait for the others to heal up before climbing up the ladder.

Weapons suddenly flying around her, hurtling themselves across the room. Sarela feels a blade slice her arm, and a warhammer takes out her legs, landing her on her back. Fortunately, nothing seems to be broken, and she nods in thanks to Sam as he channels to heal some of her wounds. Picking up the hammer, she holds it out to Mithralline. "In case we encounter something that can only be killed by bludgeoning it to death."

When had she grown so callous about death? It seemed that the horrors they'd experienced since they arrived were changing her - and not necessarily for the better.

Laurel finishes the healing off. Somehow, the constant wounding and mending is starting to be dulled for him. An odd assortment, their group, light on the ability to cause havoc but absolutely drowning in magical healing. He suspects this will be his existence for a while yet.

Mithralline grunts as a morningstar hits her in the face, drawing blood from her eye until the wound is healed by Sam's power, and then Laurel's.

"This would have been useful a couple of minutes ago," she says with a bit of annoyance as she clips the hammer onto her belt. "But good find anyway, Aralah!

"Let's see if we can do the rest of it without anymore traps. If you need me to go first, I can."

Aralah climbs the ladder quietly, looking around. This long room atop the gatehouse has several narrow arrow slits to the north and south. Each is 2 feet high and only a few inches wide. The room is bare except for the ladder she is ascending from an alcove at the room’s eastern end. A low door stands in the center of the north wall, with a small, square window at the typical eye level for a human. The window is inset with a small metal grill, which has been stuffed with humanoid teeth.

Stepping off the ladder, a stout, hunched predator with a ruff of dirty feathers and a crocodilian skull for a head materializes out of thin air in front of her, its teeth clamping down on her arm. 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 damage and grappled..

Aralah is on the floor above you by herself. The enemy is out of your line of sight and she's blocking the only entrance to get up here, stuck in a grapple.

"Hold on, Aralah!" Mithralline calls out, scrambling part way up the ladder and trying to pull her companion back out of harm's way.

Assist to break the grapple? Free action to break it? I know that's probably not RAW, but not sure what other options I have at the moment.

Bless will be down. Fair assumption she cries out in pain. There are not a lot of options at the moment. You'll need to climb the ladder and basically occupy that space while holding on the ladder in climb-mode. I'm fine with you assisting her break-grapple as your action. No one else will be able to get up there or see anything other than your butt.
