Well... Things sure have quieted down in here.

I'm still statting up a couple, just been a busy week.

I will probably let this recruitment run through the 30th...that will be a nice 3 week open period.

From there we can make selections and get started.

I statted up both Natyli the Troll Witchdoctor and Tara the Navigator. Feeling really great about how Natyli came out (so she'd be my first preference). Less certain about Tara, because there's no super obvious way of making her useful in combat, especially as a blind character, but I think I like what I've done.

Very quiet around here. I wonder if the red text is scaring people off.

Yorick, I really like both of your builds. I think Natyli's Troll race is an excellent representation without being minmaxed. If someone decides to put in for Brewmaster Phrenk (who is also a Troll) I will probably have you two work together to use the same racebuilder troll race, so some tweaks may be necessary down the line depending, but it looks really good.

I am fine with you dropping the aura of desecration from Gravewalker, but looking over the archetype it really seems like the only thing from it that fits Natyli is the spell poppet and the way it can deliver touch spells. Pretty much all of the undead things are not really in her flavor.

You addressed this by taking levels in Alchemist after 3rd level, but later on if you want to progress further in Witch I would be okay with you getting the 4th and 8th level hexes instead of the Bonethrall and Possess Undead Abilities.

For Tara I appreciate the time that you put into finding a feasible build that maintained her cannon blindness. I think I would have been tempted to just do Oracle 5 even though they are not technically blind but just visually impaired.

You did a good job on both builds. I enjoyed looking over them.

Even visually impaired, you can pull some fun RP. I had an blind Elven Oracle one time that killed three Survival checks to keep from getting lost. Played it off as having visions.

all my other games are running surprisingly constant at the moment. Thus I will opt out of this. I'll keep Adonis in my pool, though :)

Yeah, I'd written it up that way at first, but I really didn't care for Clouded Vision, and (oddly enough) didn't feel like Oracle leaned into the Seer things far enough.

I have a little busy the last week but I'm going to still try to get something in if I can. I'm thinking either Wizgille or Zariah.

Ok, I have my Wizgille done.

For the most part it should be complete. I may need slight tinkering, maybe not.

Since I have crafting feats, here's the breakdown of my equipment. With two crafting feats (brew potion, and craft wondrous item) my total wealth should be 13,650 gp with 3,150 gp of that crafted.

I am going to try and stat up Gog. Hopefully I'll have him done in time.

I look forward to seeing what you can do with racebuilder to create a half-ogre.

Peach, Wizgille and Zariah both look good. Its kind of sad how weak the chimera is in comparison to scrappy by himself, but that will be rectified with a few levels.

I think I mentioned this earlier, but keep in mind that just because Bandit, Amber, and Scrappy are her favorites does not mean those are the only ones you can summon. Just the ones you can summon more often.

I am fine with putting a weasel onto Summon Monster 1 for flavor reasons.

Let me know which of the two you would prefer to play if both weigh evenly at character selection.

I think I'm leaning towards Wizgille but I'd enjoy either.

Haven't had a much time as I expected so went with something I was a little more familiar with.

Still have some gold to spend if we need more healing although I need to keep some per the description. I'm interested to see how the cleave chain of feats works for a dwarf.

Here is what I have for Gog. I wish I knew what cards where in his deck so I could match him a little closer. I don't really know that much about him, but what I could find, I tried to use. I still need to pick one trait and a god to worship if you want that.

Any chance of using stamina pools for fighters from Unchained? I think some of the feats stamina uses might make him more Gog like.

Let me know what you think of the build.

I have most of the sets up to Red Dragon Inn 4. I don’t have the newest ones though. But I can share a list of the cards from the decks I have if someone needs. I’d have to type it up. I don’t know if they are online anywhere.

Okay, peering back in on the thread, I wanted to see which characters were stated up to see if there were another one I should do. I went back over the thread and gathered up a list of the submissions so far so I didn't submit a character someone had already done. Here's the list (if I missed someone, please tell me):

Bryn: Brolof
Kaylin: Tiessa
Eve: Fallen_Mage
The Collector: Fallen_Mage
Natyli: YoricksRequiem
Tara: YoricksRequiem
Wizgille: Peahcbottom
Zariah: PeachBottom
Dimli: AGamer70
Gog: trawets71

I'll look at the remaining list of characters and see if any strike my fancy. Kaylin is still my first pick, I've been itching to play her I like the build so much.

On another note, I'd never even heard of the game before this but was intrigued. I went down to the local gaming shop and asked for it. The guy behind the counter said they'd sold their last copy a few days before. Evidently they'd had a number of copies sitting there for a long time then all of a sudden in the past month they'd all been snapped up :D

Nairb, I'm not sure if you said but how many players were you looking to have in the group?

Also, you briefly mentioned a writing sample. Did you still want that?

It would be nice to see...just to have an idea of how you see the voice and personality of the character.

As for number of participants, I normally run tables with 4 - 6 players. Will likely end up somewhere in that range.

Gog stood before the door, his head even with the lintel. He towered over Gerki fiddling with the lock below. "Gog go door now? he said for the fifth time. Gerki just gave an exasperated sigh. Not receiveing an answer, Gog said "Gog go door now!" He kicked the door, which shattered into thousands of chunks with the lock still locked into the frame and walked into the room one step and was surrounded by kobolds on all sides. "Gog kill all bad guy big lizards! Gog no like bad guys!" Gog swug his greatsword and the one on his right lost it's head. "Oooo. Gog like kick ball!" The kobolds attacked Gog most of their weapons glancing off his armor but one cut him, "Ouch! Gog no like big lizard!" He swung his sword cutting him in half. At that moment Zot finished his chanting and the floor became slick in front of Gog and the kobolds fell, leaving just one standing to his left. Gog laughed "Big lizards funny, but Gog still no like bad big lizards." He then ran through the last standing kobold as Kerki came in and stabbed one of the kobolds on the ground. The last was killed by magical darts from Zot. "Good work!" Gog said as he slapped Gerki on the back, leaving a large handprint as Gerki was pushed onto the slippery floor and he skated across. Gog looked sad "Sorry! Gog not know strength!"

Trawets, here's a list of Gog's cards in no particular order.

Cards:

Look what Gog find on floor!
Gog make funny? Why you not laugh?
Sorry! Gog not know own strength!
Gog Angry Now!
Why you laugh at Gog?
Stop poking Gog!
Gog crush beer stein on head
Shut up!
That not hurt! This hurt!
Sorry, Gog not see you sitting there…
Gog not think so!
Gog loves everyone!
What this in Gog’s sock?
Tip Wench now!
Dance with Gog!

Wench bring more drinks now!
Wench say, Don’t Play with Drink!
Gog say you drink MORE!
This taste yucky!

Gog have Winning Hand!
Gambling? Gog in!
Gog raise!
Gog guess Wench think that tip…
This game stupid!
Do not bother Gog!
Gog think you cheating! Gog no like cheaters!

Zariah and Wizgille walk into the Red Dragon Inn. Zariah is a tall, dark-skinned woman wearing a golden robe. A feisty lion cub pads around her feet like an infatuated puppy. Wizgille is a plucky young blonde gnome girl. Her face and overalls are covered in grease and her face is buried in a toaster-like object while she walks, hardly paying any attention to her whereabouts.

”Table for two,” Zariah calls out to the Bartender.

”Read the sign.” says the Bartender, glowering at the lion. ”No pets!”

Zariah frowns and glances around at the other patrons. Her eyes fixate on a wizard with a rabbit familiar sitting in his lap. She points accusatorially. ”Then why does he get to have one?!”

The Bartender replies, ”I’ve learned the hard way not to tell that bunny what to do. If you want to try, watch your fingers.”

”Well if that’s the case, you won’t be wanting to make demands to Scrappy either. He only looks cute…”

”Fine. Fine! He can stay. But if you’re an adventurer, I expect you to have coin to pay for any damages caused. If I find you can’t pay, my Bouncer will kick you both out on your asses. We don’t tolerate welshers here.”

No sooner does he say this, a blast of steam violently propels a bolt from Wizgille’s machine across the room and shatters the mug held by a half-ogre right as he is about to pour the contents down his throat who replies with a deafening shout, “Gog Angry Now!”

”Oh the poor tankard,” Wizgille mutters fleetingly without looking up. ”Excuse me, there’s a breach in the magic-flux containment field that I must attend to.” She walks up to the closest table and unceremoniously drops whatever her contraption is on top. It sounds like someone dropping a toolbox with lots of loose pieces of metal clanging within which draws concern from those around her about the viability of this mystery item. Wizgille withdraws a comically large wrench from her belt and begins tightening some loose nuts. So enraptured in her work, she does not even acknowledge the raging half-ogre any further.

”Oh dear, I better quell this giant before things get out of hand. Bandit, please compensate the man.” A small ferret emerges from the loose-handing sleeve of her robe and scurries under the table of a drunken priestess on the way to the ogre’s table. He hops up onto the table and produces a gold coin. ”This should be enough for another round. Wench, bring some drinks for my friends!”

Gog readily accepts the offering of more alcohol and lumbers over to Zariah and embraces her so tightly that the breath is squeezed out of her. ”Gog no longer angry. You Gog’s friend now. Dance with Gog?”

”As enjoyable as that would be, my companion and I have matters to discuss. For now, let’s settle for a toast to teamwork.” She clanks her tankard against Gog replacement mug. Gog laughs. Zariah laughs. Zariah’s beer laughs. ”What? Gog returns to his table with a confused look on his face.

Zariah finally is able to sit down next to her ally Wizgille. She whispers to her, ”Just don’t tell the priestess that the drinks were paid from her purse. Bandit is quite the hustler.”

”Did you say something? Oh, look drinks.” Wizgille perks up. ”This is just what I need to test out my new device. It can change alcohol into gold. Watch!” She pours her drink into an orifice on the top of the box. It whirs and smokes for a good minute but then finally a solid gold coin pops out of the toaster slot and Wizgille snatches it midair. ”Wow, it actually worked! I deserve a drink!”

Today is April 30th, so as promised I am officially closing recruiting to new interest.

I am going to look over the submissions through the remainder of this week and hopefully start our game on Monday. If you have already dotted but have not gotten your build in yet you have a few days left to get it done.

What I have seen so far has been really good. It is cool seeing people get into the concept.

I quiver with anticipation.

Okay Frank N Furter.

Never seen that movie. I was quoting the Animated Hobbit.

So, we ended up with 7 applicants. My favorite party sizes range from 4 - 6...but I felt bad about just one person being told "no, you can't come play."

As such, I have decided to invite everyone!

Here are the characters that have been selected. If you made multiple selections and feel like your alternate would be a better fit let me know and we can discuss it.

  • Natyli the Witchdoctor - YoricksRequiem
  • Bryn the Boatswain - Brolof
  • Kaylin the Pixie Enchanter - Tiessa
  • Eve the Illusionist - Fallen_Mage
  • Wizgille the Tinkerer - Peachbottom
  • Dimli the Dwarf - AGamer70
  • Gog the Half-Ogre - trawets71

This is the OOC conversation for the campaign. I am not connecting it to the recruitment thread, hoping that fixes our red text issue. Please go dot in when you have an opportunity. I plan for the first game play posts to happen on Monday.
