Valikar look at Raatchet when the little guy tries to catch his attention. He just gives a big shrug. "No. I don't use a jetpack. I don't generally need to when I can walk up walls without having to slow down. Also, I jump really good." He pauses to think for a moment. "We can consider it if we go somewhere without walls." Which since they were in a city, it wasn't a particularly big concern for him.
As for the people on the dossier, he mutters a bit to himself. "I can do gift baskets. Throw a few spare skittermander in one. I might also be able to talk to this Skyfire commander. Military personnel have innate bonds. We can laugh over seeing other people get beat up and big explosions. Then discuss stupid squadmate behavior during the tour."

Hearing you discussing the guest list, Zafeldrin takes that as his cue to fly back to you.
"Excellent, on time and resourceful. She chose well" he says.
“I’ve been telling everyone in Cumo about all the amazing discoveries the Starfinders have made lately. I think I might have set their expectations a little high, but that’s why I asked for the best and here you are! Zafeldrin gestures at everyone, including Raatchet.
"Representatives from the Skyfire Legion are coming, along with a few notables from town and some dragoncorp reps.”
He cycles through holographic displays of different personnel files, some still flashing with proprietary security warnings from their original sources.
“I’ve already managed to pull together a lot of interesting data about regional powers, possible mission sites, and contacts we can pursue. I just need to make a good impression with these power brokers so they give us a shot. Once they see agents like you in action, they’ll be clamoring for our help!”
"Any questions?"

"I have a few more questions, Zafeldrin. Can you tell us more about security at this event? Who else has access to this site? Catering companies, maintenance personnel, the works?" She bites her lip. "I've been to two other Society galas where there was a security issue. In one, someone had replaced one of our personnel with a shapeshifter assassin. In another, one of our guests let in a group of terrorists and launched an attack. So, please forgive me paranoia here. With those six open invitations for Seroxanxia, is it possible to get notified if someone else uses their invitations to come in?"
Charli looks down at her shimmering armor. "Is there a dress code for this event, or will this do?"
"Also, forgive this question from a non-draconic visitor to Triaxus. You are a metallic dragon, correct?" Charli waits for Zafeldrin's nod. "I cannot tell if you are bronze, copper or brass, but whatever your lineage, this means that some of the local dragoncorps will be resistant to our lodge, as many of them are led by chromatic dragons. This is likely especially true of Frozen Trove, who already has reason to resent the society. My apologies there, because I was on the team that shut down a really horrible research station of theirs. Are there any other potential dragoncorps that we need to be worried over?"
Charli taps the guest list one more time, her fingers tapping the name of Tefarian Mel. "Also, how closely do you want us to watch the representatives of the City of Cumo? If they've already tried to bug this place, and love to trade on the Black Market, is it possible that they are selling information to dragoncorps about your lodge? Do you want us to be as open with them as any other guest?"

He grins slightly at your previous question and laughs deeply.
"Aralyx commands a local Skyfire Legion battalion, but more importantly she’s in charge of securing abandoned Skyfire Legion sites in the Parapet Mountains. Starfinders are just the specialists she needs—even if she doesn’t know it yet. So we need to make sure we are on her good side.”

" We should always be ready for trouble. Everyone needs an invitation to get in, and the door scanners check for weapons. I really need you to make a good impression with the guests, so I’d prefer you focus on that." He seems fairly dismissive about the idea of a dragon abusing the invites.
"Your dress code is your mission gear! The guests want to meet field agents, so the more rugged and adventurous you look, the better! Of course, you’ll all be allowed to keep your weapons on hand too! Just no discharging into a crowd of people. Oh, and no throwing grenades.”

Of course Charli spends time poking around the lodge. She watches the Cumo city officials and Tefarian Mel attempt to spy around the Lodge, and has a lovely conversation with Tefarian Mel afterwards when he grills her about the objectives of the Starfinder Society.
"Explore! Cooperate! Report! Say, are you interested in joining the Manifold Host? I'm the Chairgnome of the Welcoming Committee. Why don't we have some tea? I can tell you about my missions, and you can tell me all about your awesome efforts in intelligence work! The Starfinder Society is a great organization to have as a friend... Just think of all we can do for you!"
While she is doing that, she spots something. "Excuse me, Tefarian... I have to handle something." She calls in the rest of the team and Zafeldrin. "One of our Lodge Maintenance Employees was just broadcasting our security measures and lodge maps!"
She corners the woman, who has never seen an enraged Charli before.

"Alright... Who the HECK are you selling info to? Have you no SHAME?" Unfortunately, Charli is so gosh-darned adorable that she looks more cute than terrifying when she's angry. All Charli learns is that the data was beamed up to a starship.
She sighs and tells Zafeldrin, "We need to change up our patrols now. All our security measures have been sold to someone, and you can bet that someone will use them to our detriment. We've been compromised!"
Then she raises an eyebrow and asks, quietly, "Can you keep that maintenance person on your payroll and feed her misinformation? Maybe even let her glimpse 'changed' security procedures that are wrong? There's got to be someway to use this to our advantage. Heck, maybe one of us can leak misinformation to Tefarian too."

Neon Ten is oblivious to what is happening around them. They busy themselves with finding out what the AV arrangements will be, if there are to be any datafeeds for the guests, and what sort of equipment the lodge already has installed.
He is quite surprised when he hears of what Charli has found out. “I’m not sure how well feeding misinformation will work now that they know they have been found out. I doubt that they will tell their employer that they have been discovered — it would impact their paycheck in a negative fashion — but still they will likely know something is up if we don’t at least try to prevent them from giving the updated information.”
“I fear that my training isn’t in spy stuff, so I’m really not sure,”

"I had been hoping that all the inquiries about the Starfinder Society may mean they were interested in joining. I guess, not" Naylor sighs the last phrase and looks slightly forlorn.
"Maybe putting out some misinformation would be beneficial in case there are other channels in use. It does seem unwise though to use the one who knows we have discovered them.
"I am also interested in the coordinates of the supposed spaceship. I want to make sure it wasn't our friends we chatted with on the way in."

Zafeldrin listens to the events and sighs. "We need to focus on impressing the guests. It's probably just Tefarian Mel trying another tap. We do have a rather impressive mainframe here. Ok then, on to the gala, there is a lot here, bear with me.
The guests begin to arrive for the gala around midday.
Banners welcoming them hang suspended from flying drones around the dome while holographic displays run continuous loops of video showcasing the Starfinder Society’s recent public accomplishments and discoveries.
The gala event is held in a section of the lodge’s crystal dome. Internal scanners monitor the rest of the lodge during the event and Zafeldrin insists that you focus your attention where the guests are.
Breakdown of how this works. Each player has two rolls of consequence - you can either work security or you can work the people. The sense motive rolls on the guests you are trying to impress do not count against these two rolls. You are trying to figure out what interests/impresses them.
The area is considered a heavy traffic area, with guests coming and going, you may not take 10 or 20 on rolls.
Each round you may either Impress a Guest OR Work Security
Impressing the guests:
Notable guests are:
Aralyx, a female dragonkin
From conversation, Aralyx is a Skyfire Legion commander. She expresses interest in the Society’s archaeological capabilities
Jaxter is impressed with Profession(Archaeologist) and Mysticism
Jaxter, a male feychild gnome.
From conversation, Jaxter sees the Society as a potential business partner for Skyward Imports, his employer.
Jaxter is impressed with Profession(Merchant) and Culture
Tefarian Mel, a male winterborn ryphorian
Tefarian is is a member of Cumo’s city council and suspects the new lodge isn't what it seems.
Tefarian is impressed with Profession(Politician) and Diplomacy
You may also work security instead of impressing guests.
Working Security
Patrol the Grounds
You track someone putting a device in the bushes!
You spot a drone flying oddly. When you look closer, it has
a device attached, that causing the problem.
You spot a device hidden under a bench.
Monitor Guests
You spot a nervous person looking for a place to hide a device!
You identify a person with a forged guest image on their invitation.
What are they doing there?
Check the buildings
You cover a lot of ground and discover a device tucked into the eave of a building!
You discover a device wired into a light fixture!
You notice some hastily drawn runes, and when you investigate them, they are camouflaging a device!
The way this will run is we'll have a round of rolls, I will respond to those rolls and any follow up to those rolls. Then we will have another round.
So, rolls and posts for round ONE please!

Valikar is completely aware that he's not the most social of people. And after spending a while standing by a wall glaring at everybody, gradually getting more annoyed by the crowd that wasn't doing anything actually fun... like sparring or headbutting each other, he opts to give the perimeter a once over.
He slips outside, as much as he can manage to slip outside with the space he takes up, by only 'gentle' knocking a couple people out of his way. He's gone for a while, romping across the edges of the compound with steady thuds, walking up the sides of buildings without ever slowing, and generally making a spectacle of himself for people. Zafeldrin wanted them to be impressive, hopefully the guests at least found his physical prowess a little amusing.
He snorted to himself at that as he reached the top of a wall and glanced about. His eyes catch something hidden in an eve, and after a moment of work with one hand, he tries to drag it free. At the same time he gets on the comms to contact the rest. "Hmmm. I found some device tucked away out here. Suspicious. I have some skill with machines... but I don't know what it is yet. Give me a minute."

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony... so if you don't I'm going to find harmony."
Raatchet, depending on if he read any of the philosophy he sent Valikar, might recognize the quote from it... used in the wrong manner. But it seems to have worked. When he's finished he'll comm the others with a report. "The weirdo says he got the fake sent to him with money and instructions to set a device. He doesn't know who his employer is." Valikar helps the crasher out the front door, tossing him into the dumpster he used for one of the devices earlier.

Upon hearing the report, Neon Ten asks “Did you check if it was one of the devices we have already found, or a different one?”

Identifying the devices - does not count against your two rolls.
This is a pinpoint transmitter, the kind of thing you'd want all over a
target if you were going to shoot it from very far away. Like orbit.
Fortunately they are fragile and have an off switch.

As soon as he recognizes what it is, Neon Ten shuts the device off. Taking a moment to compose himself, he then calls the others in the group and Zafeldrin (if he has the contact information).
“We have a problem. The device I found planted in the lighting is a pinpoint transmitter. The sort you would use when bombarding a target from orbit.”
He pauses to let that sink in.
“Do we have any jammers or something like that?” On the data sub channel he transmits the make, model and settings of the devices he found.
“Valikar, where is the device you found?”
If he can’t get Zafeldrin on his channel, he would send a data package marked high priority through the lodge inforsphere to the dragon.

Naylor listens to this announcement with growing concern. "Can we relocate them somewhere to give a false location?"
Neon Ten
|
The concern clear in his voice, Neon Ten asks “Is there such a thing as a safe location when talking about orbital bombardment?”
He pauses a moment, then adds “If there is, we could do that with this one. There might be problems though.”

"I'm thinking we should just switch those transmitters off. I mean, I like explosions as much as the next guy but an orbital bombardment?? That's some serious mojo, guys! The only possibly 'safe' place to do that is in the middle of nowhere... and even then it might cause ecological harm to the local wildlife. Besides, we're not anywhere near a convenient 'middle of nowhere' location right now, right?
"Safest bet it to just shut them all off... or smash 'em."

"Zafeldrin, what is a lodge? It's not a building. It's the people." Charli is so excitable, she's gesticulating with her hands. "We 're never going to impress these guests if some of them die in an orbital bombardment. Good thing though that we landed the Pegasus here in hopes of giving tours. Well guess what? The tour starts now. Take them into orbit, and then land again once the bombardment is done. We'll keep looking for these beacons in the meantime, but this way... your guests are safe!"
Charli stands on a table raising her arms, knowing that as a budding media celebrity, people will pay attention. "Everyone! The society is about Explore, Cooperate, Report! So... We're going to give you all a chance to explore one of our exploring vessels, the Pegasus! See the lodge from orbit! And if you cooperate there will be door prizes later! Follow Zafeldrin on board!"
As they all move towards the ship, she pulls Aralyx aside. "I was hoping to get a chance to talk with you and impress you with all the wonders of the Society, but there's no time for that. We have something of a situation, and I want to make sure all our guests are safe. Can you help Zafeldrin get everyone on that ship and away from our lodge? We think that someone may be preparing to bombard our lodge from orbit, we need to stay behind and find beacons that will guide their shots... If you can help our guests get to safety, I will owe you a favor for life."

She then stays behind to look for beacons, and decides to do that by watching the other guests as they board the ship.
This is going to be a busy day. I hope you don't mind if I preroll this!
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (18) + 11 + (3) = 32
She pulls aside the person looking for a place to hide a beacon and says, "Everyone's touring the ship but you. Guess what?" She grins. "You're staying right here, and you're helping us find the rest. Whatever happens to us, happens to you."

Zafeldrin come over the comms. "I'll work on getting these people out of here, but it's going to take some time. Keep looking for the devices and I'll get the people out. I don't want a panic."
Zafeldrin looks to the crowd "That sounds like a BRILLIANT idea Charli! " and he starts slowly herding the people to an exit.
I'm assuming that if you catch the agent, you get them before they finished planting the device, or you extract the location from them, and are able to intercept that one.

ROUND TWO
Zafeldrin is working to get the guests out of the area, but also not tryng to panic them. "Why yes, the Pegasus is a science vessel. Why does it have what warheads? Well....Starfinder ships are sent on dangerous missions at a moment's notice all the time. Here, no, no danger here." He raises an eyebrow at the party

“Great, on top of everything else it seems likely someone is attacking our servers too. Raatchet, if you are still in the computer operations area can you cut outside access so we are not dealing with that as well?”
Waiting to see how others do before attempting a roll.
