Two of us have the Gun Runner boon slotted. I am happy to use mine now to purchase grenades at a discount for use during the mission. Any requests or suggestions?

Also, Charli and Naylor both have the boon that affects bleed damage so you don't want to be within 15 feet of either of us if the enemy is dishing it out. On the other hand, if you plan to "dish" then it will be more effective on any enemy within 15 feet of Naylor and you can make requests for them to move appropriately. That's what comms are for. :-)
I doubt the effects stack at all even if Charli and Naylor are both in range.

    Perhaps a couple run-of-the-mill frag, incendiary or shock grenades?

    Not that I recall, but I will admit that I was mostly paying attention to where my character was going to be placed.

    I’m fine playing up! For standard combat I’m built to take hits for a while, especially with envoys around.

    I’d be more concerned about starship combat as that could go weird in high tier with bad rolls due to the extra dc.

    Speaking of Starship combat, assuming it is a Piloting role to help the other ship is that a Starship Combat sort of roll (where only the Captain can improve the roll) or a normal skill roll where anyone could Aid? Could we use the bonus from the ship’s computers on the roll?

    This is assuming they want the help, but the drift is supposed to be a dangerous place.

    I think we are early enough in the game that it can be dropped without issue. Is that correct?

    I certainly don't want to pressure anyone to continue when it may cause extra stress. Games should be fun for both the players and GM.

    Anyone who has a good Sense Motive better go after the other two guests. My character has +0, so they have no chance. The Serums give a +2 insight bonus to Bluff and Diplomacy checks. Any Class with an Insight bonus to those skills will not benefit from them.

    So, I’ve been messed up in the past because of assumptions that the scenario writers didn’t have.

    I’m assuming that the transmitters are not constantly transmitting. If they were, it would make them too easy to find and be too obvious in a scan of communications traffic. In reality, it would also have the problem of using up too much energy as well.

    Planting the transmitters somewhere else should have the following problems:
    1. If too far off target, any competent Gunner should realize those can’t be the correct coordinates.
    2. They might start transmitting at any time. Be bad to have them transmit in transit. This one can easily be dealt with by turning it off during transfer.
    3. As I pointed out, it can be difficult defining a safe place. Hopefully whatever was planned is set to only take out the lodge, but we have no way to be sure of that.

    That said, I had also thought about planting them someplace else. It would most likely mean the opponent would give away their location as they fired the orbital weapons at the wrong target. If we didn’t find all the transmitters, it could also cause them to split their payload.

    Does the scenario allow for us to move the transmitters to someplace that the writer considered safe?

    Looking at all these rolls, there are more devices than there are all of us. Does the scenario allow us to add anything to the rolls if:

    1) We know what we're looking for
    2) Zafeldrin's security now knows what they are looking for?

    I now feel torn about where Charli should be. She's the only person who could possibly uncover what is under that DC 27 sense motive check. She's also the only person who can do the Sense Motive check to tell what might impress Aralyx.

    I think we're going to have some undiscovered beacons, guys. Does Zafeldrin still want to continue the Gala? Should we be evacuating? In real life, Charli would evacuate all the guests now.

    Gang, I am so very sorry that I asked for us to play 7-8. We should have played down. I feel terribly, terribly guilty. These skill checks are awful. I am hoping that Zafeldrin gives us some advice on how to proceed.

    Raatchet is thinking to just shut them down. After we locate the rest and avert disaster, we can spend more time examining them to see what we can learn.

    As for what Charli should do, I'd say keep schmoozing at the gala. That's your primary strength so keep at it!

    Who knows...maybe round 2 is a completely different set of rolls and skills? Probably the same but it's a possibility??

    Oh? I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't think anything of the skill checks, to be honest... I don't really think it's a big deal. Besides, you didn't force us. We all agreed to it so no worries.

    I would recommend that Charli keep with schmoozing. You have the best shot at the Sense Motive in the group, and getting that tells us the best way to impress the guest. We probably want you to roll that first so we know what is needed.

    There are more things to uncover than a team can do in the time given and the checks are easy to fail even for someone who specializes in those skills. The scenario can’t expect the group to succeed at all the checks. That means there has to be a way to resolve things even if you fail the checks.

    We have found two of the devices and one planted spy. We have also impressed two of the guests. Sounds to me like we are doing well.

    Yeah, I thought we were actually doing reasonably well, and it sounds like we have at least one more attempt. Brob will switch to trying to find devices; he has a pretty decent piloting if that's still available and a number of other skills otherwise.
