Checking in. I will work on Naylor's online profile/character sheet in the next few days.

![]() |

I am looking forward to this.
I need to double check that Neon Ten’s profile is up to date. More than likely, I will need to update the equipment section.

![]() |

Me too! Charli is almost ready and raring to go! She's level 7 or 8, so I have to spend a bit of time this weekend double-checking her level and updating her headers and such.
Do we have a slideshow yet? Your map link leads to Star Sugar Heartlove!!
Hmm

![]() |

Valikar here should be ready to go! But I'll go over him again before we get into anything.

![]() |

I'm good to go anytime. Character details are up to date!

Hmmm... It appears Liam has not been on the site since March 1st, but he still has the rest of the day to check in. If he doesn't, I'll contact one of the SFS GMs whose tables did not make and who offered to serve as a backups for Outpost.
Hmm

![]() |

I have finally put together a basic PbP character sheet for Naylor.
I may need to update a few things but hope to have that done soon.

Hi folks, HMM tapped me to GM this for you all in the case that your GM doesn't show up.
While your current GM may yet be available (and I still need time to prep the scenario if I'm running it), I figured I could at least get the chronicle info rolling. Whether I GM or Liam does, it'll be needed! So without further ado, please provide the following:
Chronicle: What chronicle number will this be for your character?
Player name: Your name, as you want it to appear on the chronicle
Character name: The name of your character
Organized play #-#: Your society play and character numbers
Faction: Characters Faction slotted
XP: Your starting XP
Fame: Your starting fame
Credits: Opening credits before purchases
Day job: Your day job skill and roll. (or alternative such as training or true savior)
Starship role / Starship Skill Modifiers: Since this adventure does have Starship Combat, getting a listing of your relevant skills can help you guys work out who goes in each role.
By the way, based on the Outpost signups, your average character level is going to be 6.5, so this table is going to be straddling Tiers exactly. So...
Do you want High tier (7-8), Low Tier (5-6), or No Preference?
---
Looks like some folks still need to update their characters and post in Discussion as well. Please do so ASAP, as the plan will be to get you guys started within 24 hours one way or another.

As a group, we are relatively close in several skills but it looks to me like it may be:
Charli as captain, ready to move to guns if needed.
Neon Ten as Science Officer
Raatchet as Engineer
Naylor as pilot
Valikar as primary gunner
Captain Brobdingnagian as secondary gunner, ready to move to Captain if needed.

Promotional - Starfinder t-shirt

Starship - Defender of the fleet

First, you aren't wrong; I hadn't updated Captain Brob's forum statline since I played him on PbP last. He's level 5 and fully updated :)
Second, Naylor's look at Starship roles pretty much matches mine. Charli actually is the best gunner for the group it appears, so having either of the Envoys in the Captain's chair or a gunner makes sense. The only mechanical difference is Charli could use Orders as Captain and have a better Demand as opposed to having a +3 bonus to gunner over Brob. Either will auto succeed their Encourage roll. If Charli has an IC preference, Brob will take the other role.
Starfinder: Where putting the least competent person aboard the ship as Captain actually is a valid strategy...

![]() |

Charli's easy-going. Though she's built for Captaining, she's also the group's most accurate gunner. She can happily take the gunner seat. Having shots actually hit is really important.
Hmm

![]() |

Competent captain is needed for attempts to taunt the other ship or make a demand of your own crewman. The taunt can be extremely effective under the right circumstances.
Otherwise, you are correct that the Captain is usually the first position abandoned.
I frequently advocate for first turn having two on Science Officer in order to get an immediate scan of the enemy, then shift positions. Gives you an early indication of exactly what you are fighting.

![]() |

That makes sense Neon Ten. I figured you and Raatchet would be able to step in and help each other as needed, though if we ever need both stations attended plus extra help at one or more then we have options.
I believe staying flexible is important.

![]() |

Sure thing! Raatchet will join in on science the first round.

![]() |

I realized that Brob had 3k credits available, so I bought him a Spell Gem of Life Bubble for the party. I also got him a Mk I Dex Augmentation, but if anyone has other suggestions for gear, let me know.

Heads up. One of these is a weird boon where if anyone around me takes bleed damage they have to roll twice and take the worse. No, I cannot unslot it. But that's okay. I have medical training and a dermal stapler.
Another, 'surviving companion' means that I am always followed by an adorable creature that I'm totally calling an octo-pup. It has has a big tongue that licks things, little octopus tentacles, and the friendliest shark head that you ever saw. If you like, I can add a picture of it to a later slide on your slide show.
From boon text: "While the creature provides no special benefits, save where it is called out in a specific scenario, it's a loyal and affectionate pet that's willing to follow you on your adventures."
★ ---- ★ ---- ★ ---- ★
Gang --
Which one of these would be of most use? I'm thinking the broad arc upgrade?
Solar Powered Weapon System (Starship Boon): The files you retrieved from Brilliance also included blueprints for experimental innovations by the Arch Energy Consortium. When you slot this starship boon, select a single weapon on your starship with the word “laser” in its title; you gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon. A gunner can spend a Resolve Point prior to firing the selected weapon to increase the bonus to 4 for 1 round. A starship weapon can be improved only by a single copy of this boon, but copies of this boon can be applied to different weapons.
Hero of the Stars (Starship Boon; Limited Use): You defeated the dreaded Besmaran pirate ship, Lawblight, showcasing your determination during an intense starship combat. This boon activates anytime your starship is reduced to 0 or fewer Hull Points. Your starship immediately regains a number of Hull Points equal to its tier × 5. A starship can never regain more than 30 Hull Points in this manner. A starship can never have more than one of these boons attached to it. When this boon activates, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.
Automated Defenses (Starship Boon): You defeated one of the orbital defense platforms orbiting the planet Elytrio. The platform contained several unique, albeit technologically outdated, innovations in starship design. The most promising adaptation of the technology is its ability to deter oncoming missiles using miniature automated drones. When you slot this starship boon, once per starship combat, a science officer can reduce the speed of a single tracking weapon fired at your starship by 50% for 1 round. Declare the use of this ability when the enemy weapon is fired but before its gunnery check is attempted. A science officer can spend a Resolve Point to activate this boon again in any subsequent round or encounter. A starship can only be improved by a single copy of this boon.
Broad Arc Upgrade (Starship Boon)
You have aquired the technical blueprints to modify one of the weapons onboard your ship to incorporate a broader arc.
Benefit: When this boon is slotted, select one weapon onboard your starship. This weapon gains the broad arc weapon special property (Starfinder Core Rulebook 304) if it did not already possess this property. This weapon takes a –3 penalty to fire in adjacent arcs rather than the standard –2 due to the nature of this modification. If the modified weapon already has the broad arc weapon special property, then reduce the penalty to firing in adjacent arcs by 1. This boon can be used to improve weapons gained as a result of other Starship boons.

Sure, I can learn from it :)
Cool beans. Here's a summary of what I did here:
★ --- ★ --- ★ --- ★
As Naiaj finishes with a few last details, she waves a greeting from her side of the meeting table. “The Triaxus team. Excellent. I've transmitted a briefing to your comms, but I'll summarize. The Society has recently finished renovation of an old building to construct a new lodge in Cumo, a trade port on the Pact World of Triaxus. The endeavor took significant negotiation and the opening ceremony will involve some festivities to celebrate the accomplishment."
Naiaj paces for a moment, her normal scowl turning thoughtful. "The lodge curator, a personal friend named Zafeldrin, asked for experienced agents to impress several local representatives. I'm told that it should be a quick meet and greet mission. So undoubtedly, either a war's going to break out or some unexpected disaster is going to happen and I'd like to have some agents I trust on the field when that happens."
“You're going there to help ensure sure this opening goes as smoothly as possible." She taps the table for emphasis, but also to make sure that everyone's still paying attention. "Help Zafeldrin as the situation permits but keeping the lodge safe and secure is your top priority. Triaxus has numerous factions that oppose one another and while we've made friends with some, others may perceive the Society as a threat. I've requisitioned some additional medical supplies for your group should aggressive negotiations prove necessary.”
The venture-captain gestures out toward two vessels highlighted in the holographic image of the Society docks. “The Society's also using this opportunity to show off its starships. The Drake's superior hull and shielding mean you're more likely to bring it back to me in one piece, but I've authorized you to use the Pegasus if you think emphasizing the Society's exploratory efforts would make a better impression. If any of you have access to other hull types, now would also be an excellent opportunity to show them off.” Naiaj glances at a blinking light on her data pad. “I have to deal with some last minute supply issues. I'll have to keep this quick. Review your briefing and choose your starship. I expect an assessment of likely mission hazards and justification of your starship choice when I'm done.”

I didn't mean to make you feel left out!
Brob was the winner of Charli Poshkettle's legacy boon giveaway.
Naylor and Charli died fighting side-by-side on the same mission. (We got better.)
Neon Ten was on the first mission that Charli played.
I wanted to acknowledge some of those milestones!

So hello to new friends and old :)

![]() |

I am still trying to decide which Starship boon makes the most sense here:
Computational Savant: I always have a free computer node.
Defender of the Fleet: Can improve one system: Computers, Engines or Weapons.
Computers on Pegasus become Trinode, Drake become +3 for each node
Engines on Pegasus become 12, Drake become 10.
Weapons on either reroll any ones on Damage dice.
Engines looks especially promising.
Has everyone else chosen their Starship boons?
@Charlie, Broad Arc looks really good. Don’t you also have Defender of the Fleet?

![]() |

Charli: I like hero of the stars. I had to use it once and it saved our team's bacon!
Neon: I slotted defender of the fleet but you can too! Finest weapons and engines would be good, I believe.
And yes, Brob is right! A very connected connected community here, particularly with SFS. The small circles give a great sense of community. But of course we're always happy to have new joiners and see the community grow!
Also, I find it's always a pleasure to GM for folks who've GM'd for me. It just lends to the feeling of communal give and take.

![]() |

Neon: I slotted defender of the fleet but you can too! Finest weapons and engines would be good, I believe.
It looks like we will take the Pegasus, in which case I think Engines and Computers is probably better. The bonus from Computers means two gunners and a pilot can have nodes.

![]() |

One of the things I find so immersive about PbP is that you are almost always interacting with the character or at least the face of the character so it is easy for the person behind that to fade into the background. Even when I know all the players in a group, I will sometimes have to check which character goes with which player.

Summary of Starship boons:
Brob: Hero of the Stars
Charli: Broad Arc?
Naylor: ?
Neon Ten: Defender of the Fleet (Computers)
Raatchet: Defender of the Fleet (Engines or Weapons)
Valikar: ?

![]() |

The 1-99 boon is Defender of the Fleet.
If you slot it, we could have all three boons: Computers, Engines and Weapons.

![]() |

Oh I'm fine with it Charli! It was just an obvious comment for Valikar to make!

Since we have a Hero of the Stars already I could bring:
Automated Defenses (Slow 1 missile by 50% per combat)
Solar Powered Weapon (+1 damage to a laser weapon)
Weapons of a Lost Civilization (Nukes)
Drift Maven (Would be +2 range on guns in the drift)
And that's all I have sadly. I'm happy to bring any of those or another Hero of the Stars.

![]() |

Brob is swapping from Hero of the Stars to Defender of the Fleet.
Swapping out the EMP cannon for a light nuke on the Pegasus also sounds good.

![]() |

My bad! I just scrolled back up to the post above that to see what everyone had and forget to reread after that.
I'm fine with tossing the nukes into the EMP slot. Need to use them before they get outclassed by standard toys!

![]() |

Naylor's starship boons that might be useful:
Automated Defenses
Solar Powered Weapon System
Star Monster Slayer
Any requests or suggestions?
Did we ever decide what tier we are playing? It occurred to me as I was finally putting my boons in some kind of order that while I generally don't mind playing up even though skill DCs become much more challenging, where I have really seen an impact is in Starship Combat. Please note, I am not arguing to play down, I just thought I should mention it. Even as theoretically the best pilot we have, Naylor will still be facing a likely much more experienced pilot if we end up in combat. Thus the selection of boons may be even more important.

Charli: Broad Arc
Naylor: ?
Neon Ten: Defender of the Fleet (Computers)
Raatchet: Defender of the Fleet (Engines)
Valikar: Weapons of a Lost Civilization (Nukes)
