GM Dennis |
Sereia and Pinesong rush forward while Lomo leaps from table to table, moving to attack from another angle. Croak, meanwhile, prepares her 'special blend' for a dart, ready to fire.
The goblins follow you into the room, setting up behind the bar and firing their crossbows at the retreating Borr from their sheltered positions, one of them even managing to bury a small bolt into her shoulder!

Vinius moves toward the door, drawing a sap as she goes and holding it ready to use.
The recently-roused man blinks at the onrushing Pathfinders, then swings his sword at...

Whole party may act.
Pinesong Rippleroot |
Pinesong hurries in front of the other door and waves his arms around.
Casting daze at Borr! DC 13 Will negates!
Croak~ |
Pinesong went around and didn't provoke for his movement by the way. He forgot to say that.
Croak hurries into the room and up onto a table. Then she loads her blowgun and fires it at the blue guy!
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Confirming a Critical!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
1 piercing damage (or 2 on a critical hit) and a DC 14 Fort save or they suffer 1d3 ⇒ 3 DEX damage.

Thanks!
Borr Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Guard Fort save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Vinius glares right back at Pinesong, seemingly unaffected by his spell but upset at her escape being cut off. The sleepy-eyed guard, meanwhile, turns a sickly shade of green and clumsily swipes away the dart as Croak's poison takes hold! Critical confirmed.
Sereia and Lomo may act.
Lomo Krehl |
Lomo hops up onto the next table and slashes a clawed hand at Vinius' face.

Vinius readied attack (sap) vs. Lomo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Nonlethal: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Lomo dodges Borr's sap as he darts in and slashes at her with his claws, drawing blood. At the same time, Sereia's trident plunges into the guard, drawing another cry of pain from the now-wide-awake man.
Fort save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Dex damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Acrobatics, 5 dex damage: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 2 = 10
The man tries to dodge away from the trident-wielding Sereia, but the poison coursing through his veins makes him sluggish and leaves him open to attack! Sereia and Lomo both get AoOs. I'm going to wait for you to resolve them as it may drop him, which in turn might change peoples' actions.
Sereia |
Sereia lunges with her trident as the fleeing enemy!

GM Dennis |
The sluggish man is unable to dodge the attacks, though Lomo's claws scrape harmlessly off his armor. Sereia's trident, however, is much more effective, piercing the man and dropping him to the ground, unmoving!
The goblins each hurriedly reload their crossbows and fire at Borr while they have a clear shot, one of them hitting her squarely. "Nasty little brutes!" she snarls. "Get out of here!"

Initiative!
Croak and Sereia may act (Vinius's readied action broke up the initiative block for this round).
Croak~ |
Croak make some more poison and smears it on another dart.
Sereia |
Sereia hurries a step forward (as much as her heavy, clumsy, gravity burdened body can manage!) and thrusts her trident at Vinius!
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
GM Dennis |
Croak prepares another poison dart while Vinius dodges Sereia's latest attack. "Alright, alright, I surrender!" Vinius drops her sap and raises her hands.
You may all act, if you want to continue fighting despite her surrender. Otherwise, we can drop out of initiative.
Lomo Krehl |
Lomo gnashes his teeth at her. "I accept your surrender," he says with a scowl. "On the condition that you tell us everything AND tell the truth the Venture-Captain as well."
He waits to see if she accepts.
GM Dennis |
"Fine! I'm no fool. What do you want to know?"
-----
Assuming you 'Pathfinder the room' while talking to her:
The guard has a potion of cure light wounds, two acid flasks, an everburning torch, a tanglefoot bag, five daggers, a short sword, a set of thieves tools, and 25gp.
Searching Vinius, you find a sap, a wand, and a purse containing 19gp.
On the table by the door you took into this room, you find several interesting things:
Sereia |
"You can start by telling us who poisoned the singers and why. I'd like to hear it from your own lips. Then I'd like to hear about the assault on our lives."
Detect Magic and Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15 Fail.
Heal: 1d20 ⇒ 17 Fail
While Vinius replies Sereia collects all the papers and sacks of coins, being sure to give Vinius a heavy look after the note that mentions her 'special services.'
GM Dennis |
Vinius glares at Sereia. "Who do you think did it?" she snorts. "But it wasn't my idea--I was just following Dulm's orders. Same thing with the Pikes that attacked you."
Pinesong Rippleroot |
"Lomo said to tell us EVERYTHING," Pinesong points out. "So tell us EVERYTHING. Start at the beginning and stop when you get to the end." He nods wisely. "I think some important parts of your story are probably how you came to work for Dulm, the things he's done that are illegal, the things he's done to the other Venture-Captains, and then the poisoning of those bards, of course." He nods. "Go on. Everything. I love a good story."
Croak~ |
"And why did you frame ZIG!" She crosses her arms angrily. "Zig is my friend and I am very angry about that!"
Lomo Krehl |
Lomo wiggles his fingers in excitement as he picks up the wand. He proceeds to chew on it as he listens to Vinius talk.
"Yeah! And why is Dulm doing this?"
GM Dennis |
"The beginning?" she sneers. "What, you want to know about my childhood, too? The beginning was when he hired me. The end is right now. In between, he did lots of stuff, legal and otherwise. All the evidence you need is right here on the table!"
"As for your friend Zig, that wasn't so much a plan as a happy accident. It didn't take much from me for your friends latch onto him as a suspect."
"Why is Dulm doing this, you ask? Because he's broke. He's heavily invested in the slave trade, and..." She trails off as she sees Lomo chewing on the wand. She shakes her head and mutters "Just don't blame me if you shock yourself, chewing on a nearly-full wand like that." Continuing, she says "The Absalom manumission hurt him bad. He needs to drive Yuul out so he has full control of the territory, now that the old man is retiring. That's why he wanted those bards out of the picture; they were stirring up all sorts of anti-slavery sentiment, and were on the trail of his current 'merchandise'."
Sereia |
Sereia considers this. "We're going to tie you up now so you don't try to flee while we free the prisoners. Please don't try to escape. We'd rather you alive so you can testify against Dulm." She looks at the goblins. "Would you keep guard over her while we're gone?"
Pinesong Rippleroot |
Pinesong looks around for some rope. Or he asks the goblins for it. And if he still doesn't find any he uses Croak's net to tie up Vinius.
Croak~ |
Croak licks her eyeball and helps Pinesong tie up the woman.
GM Dennis |
Looking around in the warehouse, Pinesong finds not only rope but manacles and chains as well. With them, he and Croak can thoroughly secure Vinius.
How do you want to proceed to the next building? Remember, there is still a guard and some dogs roaming around outside somewhere.
Lomo Krehl |
When Vinius mentions that he's chewing on the wand Lomo looks guilty and hides the wand behind his back.
Lomo helps manacle Vinius. Then he waves the wand around curiously.
Trying to blindly activate the wand so he can figure out what it does!
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
But it doesn't work. He puts it in his cheek pouch for later and heads over to the door. He presses his ears against the door and listens...
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
He's trying to hear approximately where the guard with the dogs are.
GM Dennis |
1d2 ⇒ 1
Lomo doesn't hear the dogs or the guard through the door which may or may not tell you something.
GM Dennis |
Sereia can't see the guard through the door, but can hear the panting of dogs to accompany footsteps. It sounds like they are about where you saw them last time, though a few moments listening indicate that they are traveling away from you at the moment. As shown on the map, traveling away from you.
Pinesong Rippleroot |
Pinesong heads outside and quietly walks down the back alley until he can see the back of the building and the docks.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

If he doesn't see any enemies he heads over to the edge and tries to hop over to the back door.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Croak~ |
If Pinesong thinks its safe Croak follows and swims over to the docks by the back door.
If Pinesong doesn’t think its safe Croak heads to the front door instead.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Lomo Krehl |
Before Lomo leaves her double checks VInius' chains and gag, making sure its secure.
Lomo sneaks along with Pinesong.
Yeah, I'm good with that plan. If it's clear at the back we'll go in that way, otherwise we can go to the front.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

Pinesong finds the back door unguarded, and the whole party is able to make their way quietly onto the dock.

Lomo opens the door and peers in; it's pure bad luck that there happens to be a guard right in front of it when he does. The man reacts quickly, drawing his sword and shouting as he tries to stab Lomo! "What the heck!? Hey Lucy, get in here! We got trouble!"

Oh no! Hope she feels better soon. There's no rush; we can pause for a few days if that works best.
Lomo's claws are unable to find purchase on the man, but Sereia's thrust strikes true, drawing a cry of pain.
Croak and Pinesong may act.
Pinesong Rippleroot |
Pinesong moves. As soon as Sereia hits with her trident he casts daze at the guy! He hopes that if it works the other guard with think Sereia is so strong she killed the guy in one strike!
