Finja of Aaramor |

"Anevia, I think we've found a couple more arrows here", Finja informs the woman of their findings...the woman had mentioned running short on those.
"Good job still, Jiao Feng. But Matheus is right, that Backpack might belong to someone...the potions did not break, nor the arrows. Maybe others managed to save themselves the way Terendelev saved us...could you try again with your grappling hook? Maybe this time it will catch on something more solid!"

娇风 Jiao Feng |

Porbably belonged to someone already eaten by demons...i'll try again and check nonetheless.
She whirls the grappling hook through the air and throws it up again.
Grappling Hook: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Climb DC for knotted rope should be 5 i guess? So might work.

Darrien Rose Rossberg |

Darrien keeps a watch on both sides in-case the sound of the falling had attracted anything else's attention.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
More food is always welcome, I just hope its not old. Haha!

"Thanks, I'll make good use of them." Anevia answers as Finja gives her the arrows. She still doesn't have a full quiver, but will probably be able to fire a couple of them on the next fight.
Jiao Feng climbs to the top of the ledge but finds nothing. With her darkvision, she is able to see that the small and narrow fissure present there closes just a couple feet away. It appears that this pack felt here during through a rift that is now closed.
The food is good and relatively fresh. The sound coming from your stomachs implies that you spent at least a couple hours unconscious... perhaps if the attack had not happened, you'd be all launching, or dinning at this moment. Horgus approaches the pack and grabs two of the sausages. "You can have the vegetables, I don't care for them..." With this, he uncorks a waterskin and drinks something from inside between biting the sausage. Some purple drops fall from the waterskin, revealing that in fact it is full with wine.
You are all hungry by now. Would you like to take a couple minutes to eat or press forward?

Sayid Al'Shaytan |

"Easy with the food stuffs sir. We don't know how long those will have to last us before we can find the way up and out.
And wine will only serve to make you more thirsty in the long run unfortunately.
He turns and addresses the group at large. "I know we are all hungry, but we can survive for a while without food. I am more concerned about finding a fresh water supply if the way out doesn't present itself soon. I would recommend we press on for the time being. If we do not find a way out prior to needing to stop and rest for the evening we can take sustenance then, but we will still need to be judicious with it."

Matheus Critchton |

Matheus looks at Sayid and nods. "You speak with some wisdom Master Sayid. We do not know how long our trek will be or what the time even is." His solemn words a little belied by his hands feeling at his stomach as if to quiet a rumble within.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 - 2 = 11

Darrien Rose Rossberg |

Darrien nods. Though he will give Isa a drink from one of his waterskins while the matter is discussed.
I agree, the only one here that should eat at this time would be the child. The rest should endure for now.
he looks to Horgus. That will count as at least half your meal if we are forced to stop and sleep.

Finja of Aaramor |

"I am fine pressing on, but we should conserve the rations...that is fresh food, and likely to spoil. As you say, finding some fresh water should be a priority. I'd suggest we eat the fresh produce a bit later to keep from getting so hungry it distracts us from the task of finding water - and press on as long as we can before making camp.", Finja responds, moving up to the front again once Jiao made it down safely.

娇风 Jiao Feng |

Sounds all good. I went for days without food or good water before. Let's move on. The sooner we get out of here, the better. I only hope we will find something left on the surface, but surely the crusaders were somehow able to manage and threw back the demons by now!
She awkwardly pats Finjas shoulder, obviously a gesture of encouragement.
This must be hard for you, master Critchton. I heard halflings eat a lot more and more often every day than most. Something about 2 meals between breakfast and supper? If you wish, i think you can already take a bite before your crumbling stomach gives us away. Please make sure to give something to the child as well. Darrien is right there.
Turning her gaze towards Horgus, she says nothing more.

GM Toothy |

:: Underground of Kenabres - Arodus ?? - unknown time ::
Horgus doesn't seem pleased with Sayid's comment. "Ha, you should be caring more about your own fighting skills and less about my wine."
"You all speak with wisdom..." Aravashnial interrupts Horgus, clearly not including the nobleman in his generalization. "... lets move on." With that, you leave the cave and once more head towards the east and once more you find yourselves in another small chamber.
Several mounds of rock lie in heaps in this cavern, recently fallen from the walls and ceiling. Now and then, bits of dust settle from cracks in the stone above. "This looks bad..." Anevia gives her opinion. "... but I'm mostly sure there is no real danger of collapse. However, that is not all." She then points towards the ceiling. "Can you see between the cracks? There are thousands of bats there and taking in consideration that there is no guano on the floor, I believe they are also new arrivals here. If we are not careful, they might get scared and attack..."
You are not in combat yet. Let me know how you wish to proceed. If you decide on using stealth, feel free to roll!

Matheus Critchton |

Matheus looks up warily "It is too bad we one of us is not dwarf blooded. They could enlighten on the safety of the room. Mayhap we send a scout around one perimeter to see if it safe and hopefully not upset our friends above?" He steels himself somewhat before adding. "My small size is quite often an aid in moving through without bothering people."

娇风 Jiao Feng |

Master Critchton, if you want to do that, it is fine. You don't have to go alone though. I'm a bit faster and can see a bit better. We would have to see how they react to light though, probably. The room is full of rubble, without seeing clearly you could stumble and fall anywhere.

Matheus Critchton |

Matheus nods towards Jiao Feng and pulls off his waist coat. "Indeed, but hopefully as these are animals and not an intelligent observer it will be more about not shining a light in their eyes."
He pauses to cast his light orison the one hand. Then taking off his waist coat he drapes it over the hand. Showing the light only coming out below the covering and onto the ground he looks up and smiles. "Hopefully this should suffice to keep people stumbling. We will be relying on those with proper dark sight to lead our direction although."

Sayid Al'Shaytan |

"I am likely to wake the horrible beasties up when I cross. Not the best at being quiet, especially in armor. Let's get the civilians across first, and then I will head over with the last group."
Sayid eyes the darkness at the top of the room nervously, listening to the quiet but present squeak of the bats in the darkness. He closes his eyes and says a silent prayer to the Lady Inheritor that she would help him defend their charges so that no harm comes to them.

Darrien Rose Rossberg |

Darrien grumbles about the situation. He hoped as long as they didn't cause too much of a commotion the bats would leave them be.

Jiao Feng and Matheus are the firsts to brave the cave. Jiao Moves like a shadow while Matheus kicks a couple pebbles along the way, but the bats remain still. Together, they are able to mark the best way to cross the room and even clear it. Following Sayid's suggestion, Horgus prepares himself to cross and in an unprecedented gesture of kindness, he tries to take Isa with him... unfortunately, the little girl is adamant about not leaving Darrien. Horgus throws his hands in the air and crosses the room quietly, joining Matheus and Jiao Feng on the other side.
Anevia and Aravashnial move next. Anevia seems to know what she is doing, but it is no small task to guide a blinded person and when they are nearly clearing the room, Aravashnial almost falls into the ground, with the noise being enough to rouse the bats... dozens fly down and while these are not dangerous yet, you know that in mere seconds the center of the room will be completely filled with bats!

Matheus Critchton |

Matheus freezes for a moment not knowing what to do how to help, he offers the only suggestion he can think of at a moments notice. "Flee! Stay low and move from the room!" He hisses in a stage whisper hoping it doesn't carry or rouse the bats further as he follows the advice moving back away from the bats and into the unknown.

Darrien Rose Rossberg |

Darrien scoops up Isa, and firmly pulls Aravashnial Come we need to move. Perhaps a bright light would deter them!? Or a bright open flame!? They seem to be creatures of the dark after all!
move as much as I can, shield is stowed away on his back.

娇风 Jiao Feng |

I have no idea how to fight a swarm of bats. Perhaps it is just time to run.
Jiao Feng looks around and nods to Critchton, who seems to share her opinion. She moves along cautiously, but is ready to run as soon as the rest does.

GM Toothy |

Drag - Anevia, wounded: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 2 = 11
Drag - Anevia, wounded: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 - 2 = 13
Drag - Anevia, wounded: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 2 = 19
Bat Swarm target (1: Edril; 2: Finja and Sayid): 1d2 ⇒ 2
Damage - Bat Swarm: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Fortitude - Finja, wounded: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 - 2 = 21 Pass!
Fortitude - Sayid, critical: 1d20 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 3 = 16 Pass!
Matheus and Jiao Feng move further into the tunnel and are soon followed by Darrien, carrying a very scared Isa in his arms. He tries to move Aravashnial, but the wizard resist him, confused about what is happening. Anevia, even with her broken leg, grabs the elf by his arms and drags him with all her strength, managing to also take him out of harms way.
Edril, Finja and Sayid are the only ones left in the room when the bats swoop down to attack. They are all enveloped by the tiny animals, making it difficult to see. Luckily for Edril, he suffers only minor scratches, but the same could not be said of Finja and Sayid. Bleeding profusely from countless places, both remain conscious, but not for much longer...

Edril |

Edril comes up with a bright idea... pun absolutely intended. "See if you can keep them off me for a moment..." He focuses, recalling the spell within his mind. "Those from outside the gates heed my call, lend me your service." His tone resonates with power and his hands move in arcane gesture, forceful and deliberate.
I am beginning to cast Summon Monster 1, for a Celestial Fire Beetle. Why? Because it will shine brightly and hopefully distract the bats from you for long enough for us to flee.

Finja of Aaramor |

Swatting at the bats with her armored gauntlet, shield and sword, trying to keep them away from her face, Finja feels their claws and bites on arms and legs and wherever else skin is exposed.
Am I going to die here? Like this?
Seeing the others rush forward, deeper into the tunnels, her ears full of wings flapping, shouts, she rushes forward as well, trying to get away from the bats. As she does, she feels the stinging pain in her left leg, where one of the beasts managed to pierce an artery.

Darrien Rose Rossberg |

Matheus, Jiao Feng, here, take care of Isa, I have to aid the others.
Darrien moves to the exit from the main room, he
Finja, Sayid, Edril This way! Come on!
He stands at the entrance beckoning the others his shield now in hand.

Sayid Al'Shaytan |

Hatching the bats descend, Sayid sees a glint of death in their dark eyes. “Oh, f...”. Suddenly his world turns into flapping wings, tiny pieringing claws and fangs, and far to many squeaks.
Without thinking Sayid bolts towards the exit that everyone else went through, trying only to distance himself from the bats.
Having done so, he looks down at his arms, slowly oozing blood from a dozen places. Turning back to his comrades, he opens his mouth to say something, stumbling against the wall of the opening as his vitality leaks out from every piece of exposed skin.
This has not been my best day
Sayid takes the run action to get as far down the tunnel as possible, dodging or pushing through others in a very nonheoric way as necessary. Afterwards he loses 1 hit point, so he is at zero and staggered. Going back to unconsciousness next round. Yay. Can someone move my token on the map for me? Updating on a phone.

GM Toothy |

Still alive, Finja and Sayid manage to flee the swarm towards the exit of the room where the rest of the group anxiously awaits for them. Anevia limps towards Darrien while withdrawing a small flask of bright red color. She aims for the thick of the bats and throws it... the flask arcs and hits the ground, burning dozens of the flying animals but not enough to disperse the rest. The smell of burnt flesh and hair fills the room.
Meanwhile, Edril entones and gesticulates, working some magic. In a flash of green light, a housecat-sized beetle with a dull brown color brightened by two glowing green-yellow spots on its carapace appears. The bats instantly notice it... and fly away from it, directly towards Edril! His bright plan has actually backfired for the bats were angry and apparently afraid of the bright light, specially when a larger target was still available.
Damage (alchemist's fire): 1d6 ⇒ 4
Damage - Bat Swarm: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Fortitude - Edril, wounded: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 1 - 2 = 15 Pass!

Blasted wizards...
Jiao Feng hurries back into the room, grabbing Edril and dragging him out of the room, away from the bats.
If that beetle can do something, let it do it now! Else someone do some light between us and the bats, it seems to turn them away!
With 3 actions, it should be possible to move in, grab him and drag him out?

Matheus Critchton |

With Anevia busy by Darrien's side, Matheus stays in contact with the blind elf. "Aravashnial, sir. Our other healer, Sayid, is bleeding heavily from the swarm of bats. I fear he may collapse. May I trouble you for another of your healing potions so that both of us can tend the other wounded?" He asks while directing the both of them towards where Sayid ran.

Sayid Al'Shaytan |

Sayid continues to lean against the cavern wall, his blood and consciousness leaking out of him.
Not dead yet. Have to stop the bleeding. That's step 1.
Ripping away a piece of tunic under his armor, he uses it as a crude bandage to try to staunch the worst of the bleeding.
Untrained Heal Check DC 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 His efforts seems successful, and he is able to breathe a sigh of relief as he rests his eyes.
Awesome. Not unconcious, just staggered. I am guessing that is all I can do right now since I am staggered, apparently Unchained action economy doesn't really say RAW what happens here.

Finja of Aaramor |

Having stopped and looking back, Finja sees the Bats swarm away from the bright beetle, focusing on the mage who called it.
Still bleeding strongly, Finja retrieves a flask of Lamp Oil from her back, then smashes it on the floor a bit in front of her(towards the bats), in the middle of the corridor.
"Everybody get over here!", she shouts as she readies to ignite the puddle the moment the last of her companions passed it.
-1 HP from bleeding. If light keeps them away, hopefully, a relatively large burning area works as a barrier.

GM Toothy |

Oil: 1d6 ⇒ 6
As Finja moved to throw the flask of oil, Jiao Feng darted to Edril, grabbing by the collar of his vest and dragging him away from the angry bats. While Sayid staunches his own wounds, Aravashnial hears Matheus's pleads and hands the halfling his purse with the healing potions.
Fred from the bats, Edril is able to flee with his own legs and follows Jiao Feng towards the exit of the room just as his summoned beetle moves winks out of existence. As soon as the two leave the center of the room, the bats follow... but just as they are about to envelop all of you, Finja ignites the oil and burns many of the bats. Those that survived fly away, giving you all the opportunity to leave the cave behind. Luckily, the bats do not follow you, even after the light from the fire disappears.
When in relatively safe, Matheus notices that inside Aravashnial's purse there are two potions still, one of light healing and the other of moderate healing. There is also the unidentified potion that Edril informed that had a conjuration aura... it could be a healing potion... or something else.
Nice job!

Sayid Al'Shaytan |

"Phew, crisis averted. These caverns have more dangers than I would expect. If we are going to be down here for much longer we may need to camp the night. I have exhausted all of my healing magics, and I believe you said you had as well sir Critchton?
Well, let me take that potion of healing you found, the lighter one just to keep moving and then maybe we should work towards finding a secure place to rest. I don't want to stay here longer than we have to, but if we keep having close calls like that someone is going to end up dying."
Drinking Aravashnial's potion of cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Matheus Critchton |

Matheus nods while looking into the bag with so few contents left before speaking up. "I agree with Sayid. We are very short on water, but this seems a dangerous area. This tunnel as safe as any for now. Any true threat we come across could see our end." He nods towards Sayid, Edril and Aravashnial. "Our spells could see the difference." He finishes while moving to place the small bag back in the elf's hands.

Finja of Aaramor |

With the bats blocked, Finja moves a few steps further down the tunnel, before collapsing against the tunnel wall, and trying to staunch the arterial bleeding from her leg.
Heal: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
"I...I'm afraid I'm injured. Is one of you able to help?"
There is fear in the girls face as she tries, without success, to stop the gusts of blood gushing forth from her left thigh.
-1 from bleeding

Matheus Critchton |

Matheus spins almost having reached Aravashnial. "Let's try to stem the bleeding before we use the last known healing." He says to Sayid while moving and attempting to aid on the bleeding wounds using his vest in hand to try to halt the bleeding.
Heal aid another for +4 bonus (DC10): 1d20 + 0 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 0 - 2 = 15

Sayid Al'Shaytan |

Heal check with help from Matheus: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 4 = 25
After the flow is stopped, Sayid examines their rushed and amateur handiwork.
Between the two of us we almost make 1 decent medic.

Darrien Rose Rossberg |

With everyone at least out of immediate danger, Darrien lets out a sigh. Moving further into the tunnel. As Finja asks for aid, Darrien moves to help, but stops and smiles as the others seem to have it under control.
Does anyone have a proper med kit? I feel thats a bit to hopeful, but I wanted to ask.

Finja of Aaramor |

The halflings hands pressing on the wound, Sayids binding it with expert grace, Finja first relaxes, then blushes slightly as she realizes two men are working on her thigh. But it passes quickly, this was not the time or the place for modesty, and by the time they are done, she's all comfortable with the situation again:"I am in your debts, Sirs. Thank you for probably saving my life!"
To Darriens questions, she shakes her head no. A Healers Kit would be helpful, but those were expensive...

Sayid Al'Shaytan |

"If we all get out of this alive then we will be so far in each other's debts that there will be no point in counting out the coin."
Sayid smiles cheerfully at Finja from his kneeling position, the sight only slightly marred by the dirt, grime, and blood on his face and arms.
"Now, how is everyone else doing?"
Sayid surveys the group of survivors and notes the blood loss and tired expression particularly on the Half-Elven Wizard, Edril's face.
"Sir! Had you informed us of the straits you were in we could have seen to you immediately. Sir Critchton, may I beg your assistance one more time?"
Heal Check, hopefully with +4 assistance from Critchton: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Never mind, +4 is not going to help this roll.
Running low on pieces of tunic readily available to tear, Sayid attempts to apply pressure to the wound just with his hand. Unfortunately, the seal is poor and the life's blood continues to leak out.
"I fear I cannot bind this wound. We had 1 last healing potion left, the moderate healing yes? Perhaps we should go ahead and use it?"

娇风 Jiao Feng |

Here, let me help that!
Jiao Feng rips a bit off of her own dress and tries to stop the bleeding.
Heal to stop bleeding: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Heal to treat deadly wounds: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 4 = 19
I've been trained in the medical discipline in the monastery. Perhaps later, if we find a good place to rest and have enough time, i can tend to your wounds again.
Master Critchton, i saw you have some knowledge yourself, would you care to assist me here?
She looks around over all the wounded.
And the wounds of the rest here i guess. Let's move on and find such a place first.
With Critchtons help i could heal Edril 1 hp!
This would indeed be a lot easier with some medical supplies, but alas we have none. We barely have anything anyway.
She let's out a sigh.

Matheus Critchton |

Metheus' face grows grimmer as he focuses to help Sayid bind Edril's wounds. Seeing the wizard's life blood still pulsing forth he nods up in agreement with the warpriest. "Aye. The last of the known potions. But I fear Edril fades before us." Pulling out the potion he quickly administers to his companion.
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 = 7

Darrien Rose Rossberg |

Darrien smiles kindly at Jiao Feng. I will be fine for now. You can tend to the others He then turns to the group with a wide smile
Besides, we are all still together, and while not in perfect shape, we all are still alive. And, while we live, we have a chance and I think that is something to be happy about no? As my father always told me, The Dark cannot last, as long as there are those who fight it. And that battle starts here.
He points to his heart as he glances around at the others.
With your strongest muscle. Let us keep our heads up, and our spirits high. We will all make it out of this yet. He subconsciously pats Isa's head at the end.
Even if I cannot, I'll make sure they make it out.

Edril |

"I am not so weak... that..." He stops talking, as blood loss causes him to weaken. He doesn't pass unconscious this time, thanks to the ministrations of Jiao Feng, but the poor half-elf does look rather brutalized. "I think... perhaps tomorrow I will prepare something with a bit more firepower." He declines the potion, if offered as he should still be conscious when it is going to be passed around.
I have a +1 con mod, so shouldn't be unconscious quite then, I think? Even if I'm disabled for a bit.

Matheus Critchton |

I was counting 5 damage initial. 1 bleed moving out of the room. 1 round bleed while we staunched Finja's wounds. 1 round Sayid and I attempting to stop your wound would put you out of action. Jiao Feng jumping in earlier would save some of that. :)

Matheus Critchton |

Returning back the pouch Matheus tries to make himself as presentable as able with blood, bruises, and torn clothes. "Let us move a little way down away from the bats and stop for a rest." Giving Jiao Feng a small nod he addresses her. "May we call upon you to scout maybe about fifty feet ahead and we travel thirty to then pause for rest."
