Impex rushes further up, doing a roll whilst picking up some of the moon dust along the way, throwing it in the air to hide her presence. She comes to a stop and carefully aims at top enemy.

Mengian screamed in fury as his last minion fell to Impex's fired pistol. As the starknife returned to his hand, he ran forward and slashed out at Data's neck, trying to open the armor up and expose Data to the atmosphere, either not knowing or caring that his target was an android. The weapon bit deeply, and Data staggered a bit from the blow.

Data, look out! Te shouts too late as he watches the weapon sink into the android. Te fires off two quick shots, but the angle is difficult and trying to not hit his companion greatly impedes his accuracy.

Even in the depths of his unconsciousness, Gamuzali's native drive to fight bolsters him, and the bleeding caused by the weapon of his people begins to subside.

Taking her aim at the next enemy, silently she rolls again.

Gamuzali came awake with an explosion of adrenaline as Friye jabbed him with the healing serum syringe. Data tried to stab Mengian, but the sarcesion leader nimbly dodged away. The android's move, however, put him right in the line of fire for both Te and Impex, and the two had to pull their shots lest they hit their companion. The tall and absurdly thin sarcesian lashed out at Data again with his starknife, but Y Data Y was watching for that, and batted the four-bladed weapon away with his own knife.

Te fires twice more, trying to find a better angle on the target. He is pretty sure he nicks him on the first shot, but the struggling Data keeps moving in front of him.

Friye takes two quick shots at Mengian.

Gamuzali's eyes snap open and he sees Friye kneeling over him just as she tosses the healing serum away. Before he can even thank her, she is standing a firing her weapon at Mengian once again.

As much as Gamuzali would like to rejoin the fray immediately, he recognizes that he is still in a fragile condition and that, tactically, it would be a bad decision for him to expose himself to further attacks from the sarcesian. Instead, he pulls himself to his feet by grabbing on to the back of the excavator, then clambers over the body of the sarcesian beside him and takes cover behind the machine.

Two move actions to stand from prone, then to move up one space and four to the left to get cover behind the opposite corner of the excavator. As part of my second move action, I draw my semi-auto pistol.

Mengian reeled from Impex's shot, then lashed out at Data once more. This time he connected, tearing another gash in the android's armored suit and severing both flesh and circuitry.

Growing frustrated by the chip shots, Te decides to try and get an advantage. He runs towards the target Data is engaged with and shouts to his companion, "Data! Move Left!"

Te feigns sneaking to the right but moves left as well and hopes Mengian exposes himself so that he can catch him flatflooted. Once he gets close enough to ensure he can't miss, he fires off a shot into the midsection of the large creature.

Still feeling quite weak while his comrades take pot shots at Mengian, Gamuzali pulls out his own healing serum and injects himself.

Mengian was enraged. All of his plans were falling apart around him. His fire team was down, and he could only think that he had been betrayed by his own. That coward Fayetta! It was all her doing! If she had stepped aside as she should have, all this would have been unnecessary. The dig site would be destroyed by now, and the starfinders run off the planet before they could bring any more aid and succor to the cursed Eoxians. Now, he'd have to start all over again. He would save the people of the Pact worlds from the scourge of the Eoxians. Then, everyone would know is was he who should get the glory. He, who should...

The starknife fell to the ground as Impex's corrected shot took the sarcesian in the left eye. Mengian toppled to the ground, a sneer of triumph still on his face. Wings that appeared to be made of translucent fire sprang into existence, then withered as the revolutionary died.

With Mengian and his cadre of hard-liners dead, you have secured the Starfinder excavation efforts on Blackmoon. Now it is up to you how to handle the existence of the Wings of Damiar. How do you wish to proceed from here? Do you go back to Taylehm? Do you contact Fayetta directly? Call in the Eoxians? Something else?

Gamuzali staggers out from behind the excavator and stands over Mention's collapsed form. "There's always another way, Mengian. The dark is always exchanged for the light, and the Cycle goes on. It is a shame you did not learn that lesson in time."

He quickly goes to each of the sarcesians and searches them for any further evidence of their involvement in the deaths of the dig crews and Starfinders, as well as any valuable equipment he or his companions could benefit from, then sits down with his back agains the large red pillar in the center of the site and takes a breather.

Spending my final resolve point to regain stamina. Let's hope I don't need it!

As he rests with the others, Gamuzali agrees with Data's suggestion to speak to the remaining Wings of Damiar first. "We can bring Fayetta along with us to talk to Taylehm, that way we don't bring a whole angry crew of Starfinders and diggers to what should be a peaceful discussion to cease hostility."

"By the way," he says, turning to Friye, "Thanks for that serum. You really saved my tail with that."

Contacting Fayetta was as easy as using the communicator address she provided during your holocall with her. She is saddened to hear of Mengian's death, but grimly determined to come to an accord with the starfinders. Possibly of even more importance to her is her intent to keep the Wings of Diamar's presence hidden from the bone sages and Eoxian authorities.

"We are a scouting force only, and have no intent to develop any retaliation or guerrilla tactics against the bone sages, unless clear and incontrovertible proof of their plans to attack the rest of the Pact Worlds surfaces. We are merely watchers, and would like to be left alone to do that."

After the battle is won, Te makes his way over to Gamauzali. "You ok? You took quite the punishment out there. Thanks for taking one for the team."

Nodding to Friye, "Nice work."

To Impex he adds, "No offense, but your shooting is significantly better than your humor. " He holds up his palms and says, "Please don't shoot me for telling you that."

Making his way to Data he comments, "Thanks for getting up front and distracting Mengian. It was very brave of you to do that."

All right, where to next?

Data looks over at Te. I just wanted to be close enough to use my ray attacks. He came to me.

What are your plans with the Wings of Diamar?

Oh, I thought they were part of his body.

Can we remove the wings and take them back for evidence?

Um, I think Wings of Diamar is a faction. Question is, are they the good guys or bad guys?

Taking her allies hand, she stands up and lets go an awkward smile."Thanks Te. I have been told this before. Yes. I won't shoot you, if you say you'll be my friend and come to my stand up gig's on Absalom Station. They are...to die for."

She ponders the question for the moment. "I think the Wings of Diamar have learned their lesson. Mengian was a fanatic, but he has been dealt with. The Starfinders should keep a close watch over the Wings and their movements for a while, make sure they keep their end of the bargain and stop harrassing the surveyors. But they themselves are not to blame for this. But then again, it is up to you. But we should all see reason."

"I understand the desire to be left to do what you feel is your duty, but given recent events, it might be good to have a bit of cooperation with a third party like the Starfinders. Why don't you come with us to meet with Taylehm, and we'll see if she can offer any aid in keeping an eye on the Bonesages?"

Gamuzali's sense of the Wings of Damiar is that they are a largely benevolent group who want to make sure the Eoxians stay in check, but who have the tendency to move toward broader strains of violence. He believes that having someone like the Starfinder Society watching the watchers, so to speak, would be best for the Wings, and also help make sure they don't hurt anyone innocent just because they have a temporary association with the Eoxians.

"I will meet with your representative, but only if there are no Eoxians present. That includes their undead slaves. Who knows what those 'mindless' creatures report to their overlords?"

"We will do what we can to ensure your conditions are met. Agreed, comrades?"

Te nods along, reassuring his pistol is at his side. "Agreed. Let's try to keep the peace, shall we?"

What kind of travel time are we looking at? Friye is anxious to rebuild Kitty.

Taylehm seemed more inclined to let you do the negotiating, but acceded that as the senior Starfinder representative at the Blackmoon dig site, the authority and responsibility was ultimately hers. The meeting went well enough, though Fayetta was cautious to the point of paranoia about being seen by the undead servants around the dig. During the negotiations, she repeated her desire to be left alone, as a scouting force only, and that all mention of the Wings of Diamar be withheld from the Eoxians. In the end, nothing was really any different than in your conversation with her, and after she had left, Taylehm spoke to you.

"I am inclined to leave the sarcesians be, provided Fayetta keeps a closer watch for reactionaries and zealots who might take the path of violence as recently happened. On the other hand, the Eoxians and their bone sages are the rightful authorities on this world. Despite their history of reckless violence, they have been accepted into the Pact Worlds, and all the legal structure that entails.'

"In my culture, we have a history of personal choice and convictions. In this case, I hesitate to impose my beliefs and decision on you, and encourage each of you to search your innermost beings for the proper response. One that is proper for you, and not influenced by others."

You leave teh meeting and head back to the spaceport, preparing to leave Eox and return to Absalom station. You know what decision you have made, and Taylehm was right, it is yours to make. After all, you are and agent of the Starfinder Society!
