Hey, look here. It's a holoprojector. Let me see if I can boot it up...

Engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

As soon as Friye pointed out the holoprojector, it came alive. With a burst of clicks and green light, a projection coalesces into the form of a large, but lithe humanoid with an elongated neck, pointed ears, and dark eyes. It was another sarcesian, similar to those snipers you killed in the canyon. It's head moves around, as if making sure it had everyone's attention before speaking in strangely accented common.

"Greetings. I am Fayetta. I am sure that you have many questions, and I would be glad to answer them. Please know that I had no part of the decision to attack you, and have been working diligently to prevent such escalations. Unfortunately, my second-in-command decided to take matters into his own hands and has drawn several of my people with him."

"We are the Wings of Damiar, a group of sarcesians dedicated to watching over the duplicitous bone sages. Our people have suffered countless atrocities at their hands, and the ruin of the Eoxian world is but a minor satisfaction compared to the horrors they perpetrated in the past, and continue to this day. We know that by their nature they will eventually break this system's Pact, and we intend to be in place to see it coming, and warn the system when that dread day comes."

I have a question, is it safe to rest in this cave? assuming this thing can respond to us and not just a recording.

Gamuzali regards the projected sarcesian suspiciously, "I will grant that the Sages and the other Eoxians are difficult to trust entirely, Fayetta, but why has you second-in-command decided to visit his vengeance upon innocent members of this expeditionary crew who are here for research purposes only?"

"Safe to rest? If you mean from me or mine, then yes. I can't guarantee that Mengian and his crew will not bother you though. Nor have we ever had trouble with the wildlife around here. So, yes, I suppose you could rest there."

"Mengian is misguided, and saw your excavation as a threat and ordered an attack on the new dig site behind my back. Once I confronted him about it, he took what few radicals he could from our group and left. The snipers in the canyon were among those he converted to his irrational cause. I am afraid that his fervor has taken hold and he will not listen to reason. He sees any attempt to help the Eoxians - yes, even a research dig on the site of an old city and weapons impact - as a potential to help the untrustwortyh bone sages along with their plans to take over the system and convert everyone in it to their hideous undead form of life, with themselves at the apex, of course.”

How long have you been here, Fayetta?

“Do you know where Mengian has fled to? We could go and maybe...mengion to him a parle. Everyone listens to reason if you shoot them enough times...”

Um, when I said safe to rest, how likely do you think it is that they will return to this cave in ten to twelve minutes?

"Oh I doubt they would be returning at all, but you never know. But I do know Mengian is planning something else, an attack against your allies. I don't know when, but I do know where. The last thing Mengian did before I locked him out fo our comm network was to broadcast an invitation for any who wanted to take a stronger stand against the Eoxians and their outlander servants to meet him at the site of your dig. I don't think any more of my people will be joining him, but he does have a small handful of his own, and they could cause much harm unless you stop them."

"As for your other questions, they should probably wait until Mengian is dealt with. I will be happy to talk further at that point, and negotiate in the future. But for now, I have said all that I may. Good luck. I hope we can meet peaceably in the future."

The holoprojector stopped displaying Fayetta's image and shut down.

Te nods when the images disappears. Good job Friye, that was quite useful."

Looking to Data he responds "Let's take the next few minutes and plan what we're going to do before heading out to that dig site. We should be prepared when we show up."

Should be able to rest and head to the dig site.

"Agreed. We don't want to head in blind again and have another sniper situation like the canyon. So what do we know about the dig site? What can we use to our advantage?"

Is the dig site map the one we checked out earlier with the digger machines? Those would provide good cover, and maybe we could even operate one!

After a quick 10 minute rest, Friye looks anxious to get this over with.

Data get his 10 minute rest in, darnin traps.

If you recall, the dig site had two entrances, from the east and from the south. The east entrance is closest to where you would be coming down out of the Roost. Neither is particularly good cover from anyone within the dig. Let me know how you want to proceed and we'll get it going.

Might as well come from the East, I guess.

Friye laments the loss of her stealthy-hidey robot companion, who could have scouted the area very effectively.

Who's good at hiding and seeing? I don't relish the idea of being surprised by snipers again.

Gamuzali stands to his full height, though it's unimpressive for a member of his species, and speaks in a clear, strong voice. "I served under the 86th Vesk Infiltration and Reconnaissance Assault Legion, codename VIRAL. I am Gamuzali Light Spider, Scion of Stars. In other words, yeah, I know how to sneak around a bit."

Suppose I better take a rest as well. We've seen the kind of damage these guys can do, and I'm still just first level and a bit squishy.

“It would be more tactically advantageous to go together as one unit. We should proceed from the east. Why knows, maybe hat will be the path of...east resistance?”

The dig site looks very much like you left it, but as you enter the area from the east you can see that all of the excavators have been shut off. The area is quiet and still. That stillness was shattered by a large sarcesian that climbed to the top of the twenty-foot tall red stone outcrop and hailed you in heavily accented common speech.

"Stop right there, Starfinders! Congratulations on eluding my forces in the canyons, and even now your greater forces may be scouring our former headquarters, but there is no need for us to be enemies! Your goals aren't incompatible with mine. You can have your large military presence on Eox, and I can have the bone sages destroyed for their crimes. Why don't we work together on this?"

Gamuzali steps forward and calls out to the sarcesian, "Hello there! You must be Mengian. Pleasure to meet you! Your proposal makes some sense to me, I must admit, but we are on the Eoxians' home world. If we are to overthrow them, we should develop a strategy a bit more advanced than putting a pair of snipers in a cavern. Come down and we'll chat about it. What do you say?"

Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

"I say you must think I am an idiot to so place myself in the custody of those who have been helping the Eoxians strip this sarcesian weapon of its secrets to use against us and the Pact Worlds once more. I said we should work together, not treat each other as simpering fools!"

Data moves forward and ducks down behind the car for full cover in case a fight happens

Friye similarly takes cover behind a natural pillar.

Looking around seeing her allies start hiding, Impex simply shrugs and puts her hands up.

“We just want to talk, so both of us walk away from this. This all just seems like a huge misunderstanding. How far do you really expect to get against ...the undead...it’s litrally in their name. They will outlast all of us. The real enemy, isn’t Eox, it’s their not so good long lost brothers, I’m sure you’ve heard of the Corpse Fleet...”

"I see you have no desire to work with us. A pity. I suppose it is true then that the Starfinder Society is nothing but a group of thieves and bullies. Ah well. I expected no different."

Mengian made a hand signal and dropped behind the spire...and that's when the shooting started.

Three other sarcesians popped up from hiding and began firing laser pistols at you. They had the angles, and though one laser blast did nothing but take some paint off the nearest excavator, two others hit, punching holes in the abused Te and Gamuzali.

Friye moves quickly into a better position.

Double Move

Impex moves towards the emeny drawing her rifle. Feeling fearless, she takes her sniper stance in the open and notions her allies to move forward.

She shoots one of the sarcesians.

Attack;Damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d10 ⇒ 4 — not sure about range pentalty or anything like that because I can’t see the map. Also could someone please move me up.

Impex, I moved you 30 feet closer to the snipers.

Friye and Impex move into position as teh sarcesians take cover. Mengian steps out from behind the pillar with a starknife in hand. A flick of his wrist sent it flying right into Friye, despite her attempt to hide.

The site for the map is having problems, but I know there was one Sarcesian directly ahead of me 17 squares away.
Data will pop his head around the corner and magic missile that Sarcesian using his tattoo, his last spell of the day. If that Sarcesian is in full cover, he will wait till his head pops out, ie. ready action.dmg: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) + 3 = 11

Te fires off a blast at one of the Sarcesians as cover fire as he bursts forward to find cover. He shouts, [b]"I'm really getting tired of getting shot!"[/b

Botting Gamuzali

Magic missiles exploded on one of the sarcesians, injuring him badly. Gamuzali entered his photon mode and charged forwards, his pulse gauntlets ready. te moved up as well, his pistol spitting out covering fire. One of the sarcesians dropped its pistol and charged Friye, her flaming doshko arcing in to spang off the excavator as the engineer ducked away. The other two fired at Gamuzali, and the vesk felt a burning in his shoulder as one of the laser blasts set his suit on fire. the flames were brief, but the pain lasted.

Friye takes a guarded step back and waves her hand mystically at the Sarcesian threatening her.

Casting Daze. Will DC11 Negates.

Botting Impex so we can move on

Friye's foe stood there with a dazed expression as the lashunta clouded his mind with visions of the stars. Impex steadied his rifle, but then missed his shot completely as he tried not to hit Friye. The rebel leader's starknife flew back to his hand, and he threw it at Friye once more, cutting her low in the side. Her armor hissed air for a moment before its internal sealing gel blocked the cut, but she could feel the wet warmness flowing down over her hip.

Gamuzali tries to take some cover while still advancing on the sarcesians by running north to attack the creature to threatening Friye. He reaches around the corner of the excavator behind which the sarcesian hides and slams his gauntlet toward it.

Move 30ft north to stand right between Friye and the excavator, then attack the sarcesian, who I assume will get cover.
Photon attuned 2: +1 damage, +1 AC

Thunderstrike pulse gauntlet: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Damage (Sonic), photon bonus: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

Data moves forward and fires the needler pistol at the sarceian about 12 squares away directly in front of him range 2 here
hit: 2 - 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 - 2 + (14) = 14 vs KAC dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1 piercing.

After missing terribly the first time around, Te takes his time and steadies his aim and lets forth another volley.

tactical semi-auto pistol: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

The sarcesian close to Friye and Ganuzali turned on the vesk as he dodged the incoming attack. He stepped to teh side and brought his own doshko around in a sweeping blow that crunched into Gamuzali's ribs. The other two attackers grabbed their doshkos and closed the distance as well.

As the doshko slams into his ribs, Gamuzali turns to Friye and shouts, "Get out of here! They're too powerful! I have to bring them into the light!"

Recommending Friye do a full withdrawal, then hopefully Gamuzali will survive long enough to go supernova and put some damage on these jerks! Without catching Friye in the blast as well, that is.

Don't have to ask me twice!

Friye retreats behind the cover of a nearby boulder, then readies a serum of healing. 2 Move actions

“I think a tactical retreat is definitely in order. And no, I’m not being ...sarcastic.” She says with a low tone.

She takes a shot at one of the enemies and moves 30 foot back.

Rifle;Damage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d10 ⇒ 4

Moved you 30 feet west of your previous position, Impex.

Friye stepped away from Gamuzali, readying a healing serum and giving Gamuzali room to explode. Impex fired her rifle, dropping one of the sarcesians before moving back. Mengian's starknife appeared in his hand once more, and this time he sent it winging towards Data, who stepped to the side as the four-bladed weapon flew past him.

Gamuzali looks around to make sure Friye is clear, then glares up at the sarcesian towering over him. With a defiant roar, he shouts, "I am Gamuzali Light-Spider, Scion of Stars! Prepare yourselves. The light of your destruction is at hand!" He hunches down and the glow coming from his dark armor intensifies until an audible hum is coming from the vesk. He stands up and allows the energy surrounding him to blast outward from himself to consume the two sarcesians standing nearby.

Standard action to use supernova! DC13 Reflex save for half damage

Supernova: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 6) + 1 = 13

If the sarcesian directly next to Gamuzali goes down somehow, he will move around to the other side of the excavator to get as much cover as possible.

Data moves north after seeing his guy drop in front of him and fires an energy ray at the Sarcecian directly in front of him hit: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (13) = 15 vs EAC dmg: 1d3 ⇒ 1 fire.

Te watches Data move up and intends to lay down cover fire for him as he advances. Leaning out behind the rock, he takes aim at the large creatures ahead and fires two shots.

Ok, that is some excellent cover fire.

Gamuzali felt the fires inside him burning and released his stored energy, badly burning the sarcesians closest to him. One of them fell to the ground as Te fired a quick shot at him, then another pistol shot took Mengian in the left shoulder.

Unfortunately for Gamuzali, the sarcesian standing near him lashed out with his doshko in pain and fury, and the last thing the vesk saw was the gray earth rushing towards him at great speed.
