Aviz Perc: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Amaya Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
It's rather sudden, but the birds stop singing, taking flight, and the squirrels all scamper away. It goes quiet, really quiet, as the entire forest goes still. Quellina and Amaya hear something odd, a very quiet rustling from the trees. Looking up, they manage to spot two small goat headed men, about the size of halflings. They are wielding longbows made of horn, and have arrows at the ready, giving the entire party a stink eye.

Amaya Shirina |

Knowledge Checks GM?
Amaya glances at the goat men warily. "There is no need to shoot, we don't mean any harm. My friends and I are passing through, a kobold camp instructed us to be here at a certain time, and my friends and I are helpfully trying to follow their directions."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Aviz |

Aviz puts a tree between himself and the source of the arrows. "What's the plan? I don't know what they're saying, do you think the kobolds sent us here just to get attacked by these creatures?"

Amaya Shirina |

Yeah so this encounter is impossible for us to resolve GM. We lost two people, which means we are missing valuable skills (ie Knowledge Nature). These creatures don't speak Common, and even though I can roll Diplomacy, its apparently pointless since we dont share a common language. I don't really want to go ahead and murder them (since there is no reason to), but you haven't given us any alternatives here. The situation doesn't actually get any better in future since we still lack an INT class that can pick up the skills we don't have.

Aviz |

I suppose I could retool Aviz as a ranger to make up for skills, because yeah as is my character is not built at all for social encounters but I feel like it's getting dropped on him all the time to keep the plot moving.

Brolof |

The creatures look annoyed, starting to pull their bows back to fire, before stopping upon hearing the sound of something coming towards you all in the underbrush. They turn to look, even as a group of eight kobolds come stumbling out of the wood work. Five look like the drudges you encountered before, with three being equipped in the same gear as that previous warrior. The drudges and the warriors look at the party, and then at the goat men in the trees. One of the warriors shouts a command in their foreign language while pointing at the goat men, while the goat men turn to start shooting at the kobolds, their faces contorted into expressions of anger. This leaves the adventuring party at a decision, they could choose to help either group in their fight, leave, or simply wait to try and talk to the victor.

Quellina Esstanov |

Quellina looks to the others. "Probably shouldn't let them kill the lizards we're trying to meet, guys. I say we take them down, and quickly."

Quellina Esstanov |

Quellina shrugs slightly, looking to the goat-men. "I suppose that settles it", she says as she unsheathes her longsword move action and immediately feels blood thumping in her ears.
Best that I don't go and get shot, she thinks to herself, and she chants quickly to summon a field of coruscating multicolored energy around herself. Entropic Shield as a standard action

Amaya Shirina |

Amaya creates a shimmering ball of dark energy within one hand, and prepares to fire it.
Technically, I can do this on this round, but we are not in init yet, so I'm holding off for that.

Brolof |

Quellina Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Flouncy Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Aviz Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Amaya Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Redscale Drudges: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Redscale Warriors: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Mysterious Goatmen: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
The warriors quickly pull out their crossbows, raising them to their shoulders and firing them off at the two goatmen. They came prepared for a fight it seems, as one of the shots manages to bury itself into a goatman's leg.
Crossbow Shot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d6 ⇒ 5
Crossbow Shot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d6 ⇒ 4
We'll do block initiative. Since you guys hadn't actually joined the fight yet, you get your full turns. Quellina, Flouncy, and Aviz, then the drudges, Amaya, and the Goatmen.

Aviz |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Aviz darts forward, bringing his fauchard high into the air. When he reaches the archers he brings his weapon up and tries to hook one of them to bring him to the ground!
Reposition: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Move to get underneath the archer on the right. Standard to attempt a reposition maneuver to knock him off the branch and bring him to the ground. I thought reposition would be the best combat maneuver for that, let me know if its not.

Quellina Esstanov |

Quellina keeps her head together enough to realize that her sword is not a good weapon. She sheathes it, then takes out her glaive instead.
Move action to sheath longsword, substituting my standard action for another move to get the glaive out. She stays put for this turn.

Amaya Shirina |

Amaya takes aim and blasts the nearest archer
Attack Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Brolof |

Amaya's blast strikes the archer in the chest, causing it to let out a strangled noise before shaking its head. The one Aviz snagged with his polearm falls with a yelp, landing flat on his back. It takes a moment for the two to regain themselves, before springing into action. The one on the ground leaps back upright and tries to gore Aviz for all the trouble he caused him (Provokes an AoO). The other one starts firing on one of the warriors, rapidly getting to arrows off.
Gore: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 211d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Rapid Shot 1: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 1 = 161d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Rapid Shot 2: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 3 - 1 = 131d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Aviz |

Feels really nice to be able to play a fighter and make tactical decisions like that, as opposed to "I hit the guy".
Using my tactician trait to gain a +2 bonus on the attack of opportunity.
AoO: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10 Phooey, wasted the trait
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Aviz tries to slash the creature as he stands but finds himself too close and his blade falls short. He snarls in pain at the gore, but sees they're deadlier with bows than their horns. He steps away from the one next to him and slashes again, trying to take the head off the archer!
Attack (power attack): 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 1 = 21
Damage (power attack): 1d10 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 3 = 16
Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Crit Damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Brolof |

The warriors watch the fighting going on with wicked grins on their faces, laughing as the goatman falls off the tree and to the ground. They reload their crossbows and take aim... launching their bolts straight for Aviz back.
Crossbow 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 221d6 ⇒ 6
Crossbow 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 171d6 ⇒ 1
Crossbow 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 141d6 ⇒ 1
If you wanna take that last action back Aviz, you can. I should have just waited until I got home and was able to properly do the post instead of piecemeal because I had no map.

Flouncy Magoo |

Flouncy will try to take cover. He'll duck into the bushes.
stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
He watches the drudges, readying an action to fire at any that appear to be casting spells.

Quellina Esstanov |

Quellina looks on as the warriors fire at Aviz. Seeing that Amaya and Aviz have the goatmen sorted, she rushes the nearest warrior and makes a vicious slash with her glaive!
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Move action to pull up 10 feet away from the nearest warrior, then standard action to attack.

Aviz |

Keeping rolls from previous post:
AoO: 4 + 4 + 2 = 10
Damage: 1 + 4 = 5
Aviz tries to slash the creature as he stands but finds himself too close and his blade falls short. He snarls in pain at the gore, but sees they're deadlier with bows than their horns. He is about to slash at the creature when he feels the arrows in his back. "Raaahhh!!!" He whips around in anger and charges into the kobolds, ignoring the archers behind him.
Charge 15 feet, two squares down-right diagonally. Attacking the two archers on the top right.
Attack (power attack, charge): 18 + 4 - 1 + 2 = 23
Damage (power attack): 9 + 4 + 3 = 16
Confirm: 15 + 5 = 20
Crit Damage: 1 + 7 = 8
Cleave: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 jesus
Damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Crit Damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Current AC is 13 from charging and using cleave. Probably going to go down this round since I'm at 4hp, may as well cause as much damage as possible.

The drudges' eyes go wide as they watch one of their commanders fall to the ground, his head completely removed from his body. The other one is dealt as the blade sinks into his shoulder. They look at each other for a moment before starting to spin their slings, taking aim and firing their bullets off at Amaya and the goatmen. The three that target the goatmen just bounce off without any effect or miss, while the ones targeting Amaya..
Sling: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Sling: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Amaya Shirina |

Is there a map update? Amaya will probably whittle down the side with the most numbers, so that the Goatmen and Kobolds are still encouraged to fight each other, but I probably want to eliminate the ones that could harm Aviz. This encounter looks pretty lethal though.

Brolof |

Amaya Shirina |

Amaya targets the nearest drudge
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Brolof |

The goatmen look at each other for a moment before nodding as Amaya's blast misses. Nocking their arrows, they spring into action. The one on the ground runs forward and fires a quick shot past Aviz, towards the kobold. The one in the branches fires two rapid shots at the drudges next to him.
Normal Shot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Rapid Shot 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 41d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Rapid Shot 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 71d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The warrior whips his head out of the way of the arrow, even as the other goatman's arrows fail to find their mark as well. A snarl grows on their faces as they drop their crossbows and draw their short swords, thrusting at Aviz and Quellina.
@Aviz: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
@Quellina: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Aviz |

Aviz steps back and cleaves at the archers at his back, but nearly trips over the haft of his weapon instead.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Flouncy Magoo |

Flouncy takes advantage of his cover and fires at the farthest goat man.
crossbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Just getting the bad rolls out of the way, so Flouncy can kick ass later.

Brolof |

The drudges quickly reload their slings and fire off at the same targets, not smart enough to get that their rocks aren't really effecting the goat man. Amaya on the other hand...
Slingshot 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 101d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Slingshot 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Is missed yet again.
Bad roll all around, eh?

Amaya Shirina |

Amaya returns fire, hoping to find better success.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
