Thanks for explaining Keydas!

Also, since we're all talking and such, I usually like to take this chance to introduce myself a little bit since we'll (hopefully) all be playing together for awhile. Please, don't feel like you have to introduce yourself if you don't want to. I just like to. :D

My name is Jonesy and I go by Warforgedman here on the forums. I've been playing tabletop RPGs now for almost ten years now and I'm 27 years old. I started with D&D and World of Darkness and have since played all kinds of systems; Exalted, Dark Heresy, Savage Worlds, Call of Cthulhu, Dungeon World, Champion System, and more. I'm a student in the process of becoming a pharmacy technician and I live in Phoenix, Arizona.

Here is to a great game folks!

In other news, don't try to do posting stuff immediately after waking up. It is bad news.

I will be using block, it will also be a first come first act basis. So if 4 people are in the same block, whoever posts first will basically be the one acting first. Any one posting after them can assume their actions take effect before them.

When it comes to spells and such, will be assuming those are attempted first? It'd be crappy to attack and then get the Bull's Strength but I'm fine with first come, first serve, if necessary.

also, my mistake, your trust should be at 19. If you desire to post, but also wish to go after someone, merely say "I'd hold my action until X".

its ok, theres plenty of reference material you can look into that allows you to make additional checks, though it requires a fair bit a time.

DM, do you have any preferences on if we split the party or not?

Unrelated but will eventually be important, how will we be splitting loot and such? I've heard of many methods and I figure we should all agree to one before it matters.

I don't mind the walls either. Mine aren't always very long, but it fits how I envision Nostro. I can always try to add more fluff to them if it makes it more entertaining/fun/whatever for other people though!

The way ive always played the loot is pretty much split evenly( or as evenly as possible) pretty much no matter the circumstances, barring a player being absent for a lengthy period of time. But ive always subscribed to the idea that DM is god at the table (computer screen?) so what Dm says is fair works for me. As an aside I wanna post something but i need to know what time of the day it is or what i write might seem strange. So is it morning/afternoon/night right now as our characters are sitting and talking?

Male NG Human Fighter (Eldritch Guardian, Mutation Warrior) 2 | HP: 24/24 | AC: 18 (12 Tch, 16 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F: +6, R: +2, W: +4 | Init: +2 | Perc: +7 (+9), SM: +2 (+4) | Speed 30ft (20ft) | Combat Stamina Pool: 5/5 | Gunnar HP: 16/16 | Gunnar AC: 17, TAC: 12, FF: 15 | Active conditions: Viktor - None; Gunnar - None

For treasure, I'm fine with splitting evenly and figuring the cost of loot to ensure equal WBL. Or as equal as we can get. Of course, should someone find something that is really only usable for that class, they should have it. I'm for party effectiveness first, equal cash second.

Indeed, if you rather we keep the group together, we can. If I remember, this part has a lot of research that occurs so we may split off to do multiple researching/socializing. I don't think any of us are foolish to go to the prison alone...outside of Gunnar. He doesn't get a choice though. :P

Im fine with splitting up. I handle it often IRL, and so far PbP is much easier to have a split party. So whats everyone doing?

If a group goes into town, Nostro will join them and try to use his skills to perform tasks for the people.

Edit: I just want to say how much I appreciate the heavy use of the discussion tab like we are all doing. It can really pull from the narrative when the gameplay tab gets used for stuff like this.

Male Human Bard 4 | AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 | Fort +3, Ref +8, Will +5; +4 vs bard perform, language, sonic | HP 27/27 | Init +2 | Perception +7 Bardic Performance 12/12 |
Spells:
1st - 4/4, 2nd - 2/2

I'm in favor of evenly as possible, unless there's an item that's highly effective for someone else. For instance, Keydas really doesn't want a magic greatsword.

As to splitting the party, that works easily. PbP allows for spoiler tags to keep knowledge separate.

I'm all for splitting the loot evenly. Exceptions being items that are needed for a certain class. Plus we can always roll off in situations where more than one person wants a particular item.

I've also used a system in games where my group would split coin, gems, etc evenly. Then people would throw in for certain items; then to keep it even we would pay back the group as we went.

(Ex: If my character took a +1 Longsword from the loot. We would value it at about 4,000 in coins, gems etc i wouldn't take. Since thats the value of the item if we sold it.)

Overall I'm fine with just about anything. :)

I like splitting evenly and giving items to people who need them. I think if we find the items are mostly going towards a certain class, we should consider the system Gregor is suggesting.

Male NG Human Fighter (Eldritch Guardian, Mutation Warrior) 2 | HP: 24/24 | AC: 18 (12 Tch, 16 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F: +6, R: +2, W: +4 | Init: +2 | Perc: +7 (+9), SM: +2 (+4) | Speed 30ft (20ft) | Combat Stamina Pool: 5/5 | Gunnar HP: 16/16 | Gunnar AC: 17, TAC: 12, FF: 15 | Active conditions: Viktor - None; Gunnar - None

Indeed. Though if my rules-foggy brain remembers, don't weapons and such only get sold for half? I kind of remember that art objects are the things that are always sold at full, same with gems and whatnot.

Dice rolls are cool for competitive items and giving up gold amounts is cool as well. I'm also usually down for going "Hey, I'd like my character to get -badass item here- but I'm short. Will people help me out and I'll pay you next share?". Teamwork makes the monsters flee in a panic. :D

Yeah my example was flawed. It should have a been a +2 Longsword for my example.

But yeah I'm all about teamwork as well. I'd be fine with helping each other out.

Another useful thing I've seen used is taking a small portion of loot when found and making a party fund for healing items, scrolls, etc. So no one person is forced to pay for healing and stuff.

Male NG Human Fighter (Eldritch Guardian, Mutation Warrior) 2 | HP: 24/24 | AC: 18 (12 Tch, 16 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F: +6, R: +2, W: +4 | Init: +2 | Perc: +7 (+9), SM: +2 (+4) | Speed 30ft (20ft) | Combat Stamina Pool: 5/5 | Gunnar HP: 16/16 | Gunnar AC: 17, TAC: 12, FF: 15 | Active conditions: Viktor - None; Gunnar - None

Truth to that, a party fund is super helpful to be able to afford wands and potions, the eventual higher level resurrection for when the Algorithm Gods have decided your character should take a nap. :D

To reiterate im fine with what has been suggested thus far s far as loot splitting goes and I really like the idea that we all set out a certain amount for healing gear. Being a caster who gets healing magic Ive always hated the expectation that most of my spells should be used to heal. As in my experience that seems to be a common expectation.

Okay, so who's going where now?

As far as I can tell:

Ladruca, Viktor, Gunnar, Gregor and Filiana are going to see Father Scowls-a-lot.

Keydas and Nostro will go see the Herbalist, then a healer of some sort if the herbalist doesn't serve that function.

Ah, Kendra would tell you that the priests at the temple would handle most healing and the like. Jominda is more of an alchemist, that can make healing poultices.

as an aside, I will try to give everyone 24 hours to post a reaction to my last post. After that I will advance the plot if possible, sometimes more thought out discussion is needed, and that is perfectly fine, I've just heard stories of games momentum dieing out and then they fall apart, I want to avoid that.

I'm relatively new to PbP gaming but I've joined a good (maybe too many) games and it seems that having the plot pushed along and a good amount of detail are the magic components to keep things going.

It also helps having awesome players and so far, everyone is pretty damn awesome. I'm excited for more gothic horror goodness.

I agree. The pacing is working fine for me. I like that this time around we all have the freedom to post and react to each others posts and then you come along and get us to where we are going. In my first pbp the group agreed to post one each and then the cm would post and the pacing was terrible. As you said the momentum died and the whole thing fell apart after 50 posts or so. This is far better and I'm really enjoying myself. Good job to all.
