Neil Spicer, you out there?
Hey. Yes. I'm still around. And yes, I'm on deadline. A series of short deadlines all stacked together, actually. Additionally, I had thought Istas was staying behind to meditate and prepare her spells for helping the scarred girl. Wasn't necessarily my intent to have her tag-along on what I initially thought was just going to be a scouting mission, but I can see it apparently turned into something more than that. I've also been out of pocket a bit. There was PaizoCon, then a family vacation, and soon...GenCon, which all hit in quick succession. Coming back to the office from those things (and my other freelance commitments) slowed me down considerably. So, apologies for not checking in recently. Vacations and summer trips often seem to have a slow down effect for a lot of games.
We could put the game on hold til end of August. We can continue with Em and Heather and Laori and I'll dream up something to detain Istas and Varlis. I can DMPC I and V. Or Dabbler and Wellard can adopt I and V until Neil and FW return.
Any of these seem reasonable to me, especially with GenCon looming as I'm going to be out of pocket during that entire time. Plus, I'll have to hit the freelance pretty hard when I get back to meet my deadlines. That said, the game seems to be proceeding fairly well. And, this particular chapter isn't really Istas' moment (story-wise) to shine as much as it would be for Emerion, Keliwyn, Heather, Varlis, etc. When we get into History of Ashes, that's when Istas will move back into the limelight a bit with her Shoanti background. So, for now, she's very much in a supporting role to wherever the rest of the players want to take their character development over the course of Escape From Old Korvosa. Thus, I defer to their good judgment.
My two cents,
--Neil

Thanks for the info, Neil. Good luck on those deadlines.
Given this turned into reconnaisance in force, it seems out of character for Istas to stay at Morino's. My preference would be to have Varlis and Istas picked up by Pilt's guys while they waited to ascend the rope. That way they are handy, but not rigfht in the action.

Hi Chaps
Its going to take at least 20 working days for the Islands Comms company to set up broadband at my home. 10 for a landline, then 10 more for the broadband itself. They have a monopoly here.
Until then posting will be very irregular, with hindsight I should have known they would be this slow.
Anyway I'll be back.
Cheers

Cable and Wireless have a monopoly here. Guernsey time is a tad slower in every respect.
Unfortunately with 2 kids off and sunny weather I seem to be forced onto the beach and into the waves until school starts in a week or so. I have joined the local library to add an extra opportunity.
I am fine with sitting this out until my home is up and running.
Cheers

Forced unto the beach?
You poor sod.
Enjoy the sun and waves. We're moving pretty slowly anyway.

Exile now has a finish date. Dabbler was right about Cable and Wireless. I rang them on Monday to ask what was happening with my landline. They said it can take ten to fifteen days. I replied we were on day 14. She checked and happily answered that the number had been set up on 20 August.......but no one had told me. Then she apologised.
Now it is a similar wait while the broadband is made active. D Day is promised as 27 Sep. Ye Gods!
And the funniest part is that they inform you by letter for both internet and landline. So that adds a day or two to everything.
Cheers

So with a hard date for FW's return in two weeks, I'm feeling better about the amount of DMPCing I'd have to do. I'm going to retcon Varlis and Istas climbing up after the choker fight. They have followed along with you and are watching the hallway while you explore the rooms.

So my landline doesn't actually work. sigh This is going to be my lasting memory of moving here. I am not sure which century I am living in here but the 21st it ain't!
I've stopped reading all the game threads because my opportunities for internet time are limited now my son and wife are in school.
But on the positive side, I did get some Live Action Roleplay all Sunday. They even remembered my old character from 11 years ago. The weather went a bit nasty towards the end but playing a zombie or ghoul was fun. Chasing girls as a slaver even better.
Then last night I joined a group and played Shadowrun for the first time. It was great and the bonus was we played in a game shop that one of the lads owns. Great fun!

Hey, all, I've been following along for some time and am enjoying things as a spectator. I'm not looking to get back into the game (although if a natural opening presented itself, I'd be happy to rejoin), but have a quick question - I'm not tracking all the bonuses for Varlis' ranged attack, FW, and am curious where they come from. I see 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 4 + 1 and figure the +4 is for favorite enemy and the +1 for haste, but where does the +2 come from?
Thanks
