Hi! this is a Fantasy/Mech campaign for pathfinder.

Rules for character creation:

Races Allowed: Human, Half-(orc or elf), Aasimar or Tiefling.
Point buy: 30 point (you will need it)
Level: Start at level 2 (Maximum stating gold for your class, not gold per level)
Alignment: All except (CN, NE & CE) (I play the villains here and the I don't give a damn characters usually.)
Skills: There are some new skill that come into play for this campaign also, but will be discussed furhter after I see character concepts, backgrounds.

Background: Don't need a bible just answer the following questions with it with a decent paragraph: Why are you a cadet for the military? What is your objective? What is your motivation?

You are not forced to be Mech pilots by any means there will still be wizards and dungeon crawling, urban warfare, battlefields and some other more morale questionable endeavors.

You must vote for what nation will you fight

Ozmoria
Riviura
Argastan
Helthrand
N.M.L.

Disclosure of what every nation is does, type of government etc... will be discussed AFTER it has been chosen and character creation is finished.

There will be political intrigue, social encounters as well for those that wish to have a more political type of character.

Please choose your poison... er... Country.

There is weaponry fairly advanced in certain areas like pistols, revolver, machinguns, rifles, etc... They are expensive is the only minor detail.

Character can craft their own later on in game for cheaper as usual.

The Exchange

Dotting. Will post a character later, most likely tomorrow.

Dark Archive

Take your time ^^

I forgot I'm looking for 6 players maximum, first to come are not first served I give equal chances and like to see variety of concept have better chances. I also like to read so nice backgrounds are good, just don't do me a bible.

Grand Lodge

Dotting, will post a character up when I can as well.

Same as Edgar and Caffeine_Addict, freaking early classes.

Dotting. Starting on a character right now o.o Also tossing a vote in for Argastan. Because it sounds cool. lol

Also, What effect does piloting a Mech have on the drivers spellcasting?

Bio:
Gwenytte Valimar is a young woman from western Argastan. Her mother had little interest in parenthood, so she was given up to the church at a very young age. She grew up to be a very principled person and, while she was no warmonger, she proved willing to fight when she thought it was justified. The church noticed this, and saw to it that the girl was trained as a warrior. She took to the training very well, and became a paladin when she came of age. She applied to the military because she felt that it is what her deity would want her to do.

She's a 23 year old half-elf with straight auburn hair and brown eyes, and although she's generally somewhat quiet and reserved she can be very forceful when she feels the need. She's not particularly violent or bloodthirsty, and would much rather talk than fight, but she has no qualms about entering into justified combat. Although she is a paladin, she isn't a very preachy person. She prefers to leave that to other members of the church. In her experience, all sanctimonious behavior does is irritate people and make her work that much harder.

Does this bio work for you? I intend her as a Lawful Good level 2 half-elf paladin. I'll have her up tomorrow. How is equipment being done? Can I start with a rifle?

Although she is a paladin, I'm fine with there being a high level of moral ambiguity as long as I don't end up in situations where I'll lose my class abilities no matter what I do. I have no trouble with her beliefs and goals being challenged or perhaps even shattered.

Oerik Lenen joined the Ozmorian military of a will to better himself. He had no desire to impress any particular individual, wholesale himself. He felt that, if he could tote a rifle and survive a war; then he would feel more deserving of the life he lead. Up until the moment that he had made the decision to enlist under the banner of Ozmoria, he had been what most would call a free-loader. He lived off of the successes of his parents, and released his cares into the ether. His name is Oerik, and his only motivation is to carry a gun, and be proud of what he does.

Oerik is roughly six feet tall, with a dull reddish-brown color to his hair. He has a pale complexion that offsets his attentive green eyes. He is the prime example of a human, in the sense that he is average in many ways. He is not an excellent combatant, nor is he a master-strategist; He can hold his own, and think on his feet when he needs to, however. There is potential within him to be a force best left not reckoned with.

And with that, my vote is for Ozmoria.

Oerik is structured as a Level 2 Human Fighter, but that's subject to change based on your discretion. I can have a character sheet worked up by tomorrow.

Dark Archive

You all need to be of the same nation.

Equipment discussion will be done when character is accepted. The equipment available and prices vary according to nation.

No need for character sheets yet, as you need to know the extra feats of the setting for mechs, the skills and your country general views of the world.

When he came of age, Henk's Pa said, "Son, you ain't amounted to much so far, but you kin shoot the whisker off a fox at a hunderd paces. When you done took yer hand to farmin' you just about ruined this place, and I reckon yer brothers can handle the crops and the animals. Git yer arse outta here and join the army before you bankrupt us."

Henk took his Pa's advice and joined the army, which has suited him well. The only things he has going for him are his common sense, peristence and marksmanship, which have pleasantly proven to be adequate to the job.

Henk is small and weaselly looking, with black hair and dark eyes that always seem to be half-closed. In any case, his wide brimmed-hat always keeps them in shadow, so it's generally hard to tell what he's thinking. He carries himself with a slow, easy gait, and isn't easily agitated. For some reason, he's always dusty and rumpled.

I'll vote for Ozmoria, because it sounds like the sort of place a gunslinger would come from.

Answers:

Bram is a cadet for the military because he is trying to be like his forefathers. His family is a line of warriors that he wishes to be part of. He trained himself everyday since he was young to be ready to try to join the military. This training allowed for him to use many different weapons and adapt himself to the situation. His family was proud once he became a solider. He tried to go on every mission possible to better himself as a solider and to make his family proud. He preferred infantry fighting and mech piloting, training himself in this areas the best he could.

Character:

Based on the level the game will go to I have two different class ideas for this character. First is Invulnerable Rager/Unbreakable if the game goes to 15+, Barbarian will be most of those levels. If the game goes to under 15, I was thinking of Armor Master/Wild Rager, if Wild Rager is okay. Fighter will be most of the levels here and I will also up wis while lowering cha if this is the way I go so I can auto pass the will save.

Bram will be a Half-Elf.

If the country is which we are fighting Ozmoria seems like a cool name. If it is the country we will be fighting for than Riviura.

re-dot

I'm interested in a lawful-evil human mech pilot, probably monk or fighter.

Concept:
Like countless soldiers before him, Aaron saw the military as the path to glory- and he burned for it. He wanted all the privileges of rank; the money, the fame, glory, and *especially* the power. As a child he was always poor and always in the fringes of society. When his family could afford to send him to school he did well but his education was haphazard... to put it nicely. He can read and write and has a fair head for numbers but he's not the fellow you want to calibrate your anbaric infuser. A short time ago he looked at his options in life and figured he could either wager his street smarts against the established gangs and go into a life of petty crime or take his chances with the military's harsh meritocracy. He swore his oaths and hasn't looked back sense.

The specifics will depend on the country we end up coming from, but ideally there is an area where humans are a minority or there is a minority human ethnic group- perhaps recently annexed territory. If the country we end up working for would use military service as an alternative to prison, that is a possibility for my character too.

My vote is for the N.M.L. because this is a military game and I'm a sucker for acronyms :D

Best Mech Pilots are fighters and rogues, since fighters get lot's of feats to specialize while rogues get things to make good pilots do to their reflex saves, talents and S.A.

Ozmoria 2
Riviura 1
Argastan 1
NML 1 (Northern Mercenary League)

Well seems Ozmoria has won the contest.

Drivers can only buff themselves/mech while piloting but are unable to cast spells of other kind while piloting a Mech.

Ok! Will post the Ozmorian information properly later on today about your common knowledge that most people would normally know of Ozmoria.

Cast so far:
Gwenytte Valimar
Aaron ?????
Henk
Bram
Oerik Lenen
DMNPC for the sixth place unless someone shows up with a decent character to take the place.

Order of names has no particular meaning just in case someone get's wrong ideas or worried. I like full names by the way so get a last name on the characters and a preferred code name or I will assign you one no problem, just avoid something cheesy...

Bram Dryerlyth. Can his code name be Scarecrow? I have reasons for this. If not than I am bit stuck on a code name.

Kingdom of Ozmoria

Capital: Capital City Ozmose
Government type: Imperial Monarchy
Rulers: Emperor Ashnal III
Population: 1,843,721
Military Strength: 50,000 soldiers, 10,000 Mechs
Economy: Average

Ozmoria itself is a large temperate area where one can find deep snows in the north and near tropical weather farther south and a desert area to the east. The country is made up of five providences: Talliron, Halsadt, Lessani, Caledron, and Zillmor. Ozmoria is home to mostly Humans and halfbreeds that are legacy of races now extinct.

Tech

The Ozmorian Empire uses both approaches to technology and magic, having a single sanctioned magic school that train in the different kinds of magic, complimented by magical workshop were some of the Mech’s technology is developed, as well as every day use things like street lamps made of Aeis stones. The other part is the engineering of weapons for soldiers and Mech’s as well as other more common things.

Important People

Emperor Ashnal III: Powerful military focused Emperor, fought in the “Five Kings War” were the previous Emperor Ashnal II perished defending the Capital against Riviura.

Captain Religan: The most loved captain by the common people and well known for his leadership and charisma, showing himself in propaganda posters with troops to bolster moral.

Scarecrow is a fine name

Common Knowledge of Other nations

Riviura: Theocracy led by a council of arcane masters, they have developed strange Mech's that use a "cortex" as well as regular golems. The only good Riviuran is a dead one, they are all liars...

Helthrand: House to nature lover's against the progress, barbarians that fight with giant beasts of magical nature or enhanced by magic, they are known to use elemental golems. You probably do better bartering than real negotiating with them, uncivilized barbarians.

Argastan: Monarchy led by a man and machine, Argastans hold the best non-magical technology and are all devout worshipers of their heathen god. Their weaponry is beyond compare in quality and advancement. Never tell them that can't be done without magic they might come up with something we might need to acquire later a great cost.

N.M.L.: Dogs of war, land of the petty kings that rule the land for short spans not even worth mentioning. Home of strong mercenary groups that their only fealty is to gold and the highest bidder. Honorless b&%#!@!!

Is the code-name Centipede all right for my character, Oerik?

Codename: Cowboy
Not very original, but it's his first (failed) profession, after all.
I'm building my profile right now.

Dotting to show interest, keep pace with things. *Bows*

How possible is it for people to 'migrate' between countries? Such as being some one who was born raised in, say, the N.M.L. and then migrated to some other country?

Well I hope this entry may satisfy for the sixth slot.

I would like to introduce the Half-Elf Cavalier(Emissary)/Cleric(Divine Strategist)

Sir Kyras Ashnal of the Right and Honorable Order of the Emperor Ashnal The II.

He Came from humble beginnings as the son of a merchant Cale Briggs and his Elven Wife Jathal Briggs who worked as Stable Master. He was born and raised in the capital city of Ozmose. Where he grew up with his loving parents and was taught always to be someone of strong character and always stand up for what was right and always provide help to those in need. As a lad he Idolized the Heroics of the Late Emperor Ashnal the II and dreamed of the day that he could one day be a Heroic personage. Well that day came as he was running errands for his mother when a common foot soldier of the imperial army was thoroughly drunk and was going to force the daughter of the local inn owner to his bed and she was refusing and things were escalating quickly a crowd drawing but no one acting until Kyras could take no more and made a stand even though he never had a day of training with a sword since he was a merchants son and raised his voice and put himself in between the young women and the soldier making even a louder rucus then before hoping to give the young women a chance to run but what happened next was a shock to the crowd, the young women and even Kyras and the Soldier drew his blade to swing at the young man standing in the way of what he wanted though still stood his ground knowing moving could bring harm to the young women behind him he steeled himself to be struck down but as fate would have it a memember of the Holy Order of Emperor Ashnal The II was watching and swiftly intervened with clash of sword against shield and then the sound of the soldier landing on the ground from a strike from the knights shield and the sound of other knights apprehending the soldier and taking him away. The knight praised young Kyras for his bravery but at the same time admonished him for being to quick to throw away his life. Kyras finished his errands for his mother and returned home and was met by his worried mother as she already heard about what happened. the next day came and the same knight was in the living area of his home talking to his parents and when I came enter the room my father said to the knight ask him yourself this should be his decision and that was the day I was taken in as a page to begin my training and it seemed my dream was one step closer.

The order of the Right and Honorable Order of the Emperor Ashnal The II. is a Young order that is as much a religious order as it is a knightly order the dedicate themselves as stalwart guardians of the Empire. Also for their service have been granted titles of lesser nobility. They Worship Emperor Ashnal the II as a diety believing upon his sacrifice he asceneded to god hood the order tends to take the domains of Nobility and Martyr. the orders Mechanical Benefits come from the Order of the Sword Just Remained it and added some fluff flavor to fit the campaign. Hope you dont mind and sorry about the large history my muse got carried away.

The Reason he would be with the Military is because the order assigned him to be with the army.

How possible is it for people to 'migrate' between countries? Such as being some one who was born raised in, say, the N.M.L. and then migrated to some other country?

Well you can say so in your background, as part of your past but you just keep it a bit secret do to the common prejudice the people of Ozmoria and in general all other countries regarding N.M.L.

The religious background is interesting and a new spin on the heroic for some god for others Ashnal II for further knowledge of that war you would have to do it in game since you are to young to know more than that or a good knowledge history check for more facts and things.

As to a god to worship in this place there isn't a specific god, clerics have their power granted do to their strong beliefs and united will of those in the clergy to harness their power in the name of some god.

For all purposes you might find all sort of religions and worshipers.

I see no problem yet with the code names, do cowboy is not elegant but at least isn't something that cheesy either so you can keep it.

The DMNPC will help upon "request" or as needed to advance story or help in an upcoming BIG fight (usually outnumbered players that need some assistance and probably still have a casualty or several serious injuries on many PC's).

The rest of the info will be on hold until character selection is over. You do not start with assault rifles... I remember someone asked it lol, but any other questions are fine prior selection and then actual character creation.

sounds good to me kind of who i envisioned it was more like the worship of a hero deity much akin to the way Hercules would have been apart of the greek pantheon. so it being kept quiet will definitely work well and can be hidden behind the fact that the order just poses as a knighthood which works well for me thanks for the input and the consideration hope to get chosen.

I have a few questions based off of some of the information you have stated. Roughly how high is the game suppose to go to? Mech piloting feat wise is like when trying to up a single weapon?

Dark Archive

This will be at least level 10 game with side quest of much higher level and challenge sometimes so be careful ^^ you might find yourselves asking for to much

Mech pilots usually only need 2 feats to pilot and use their weapons. Regular feats like Point blank shot, precise shot work for mech feats, weapon focus for a normal firearm also work for the Mech's and same for melee weapons.

Some character might not be proficient with martial weapons out of the mech but with those 2 feats you are proficient when using a mech and only while Piloting a mech.

I will grant a free feat which is Personal Firearm (Simple Weapon Proficiency version of firearms) enables you to use almost all firearms except those that need advanced training (this is to be able to use some weapons normal abilities like Autofire) and Exotic Firearms (such as flamer and missile launchers).

There are other firearm feats such as Burst Fire and there will be other Mech feats for those that want to specialize on it.

The further you advance you might be able to customize your mech's to your style (this is very expensive so might take a bit).

If going to be a Pilot don't put a lot into Str use Dex, Wis and Int and don't Dump Cha there will be social battle...

I recomend everyone to get Craft (Mechanic) and buy the proper tools to do repairs on your own mech's as well as cut the expenses of all the non-magical component's for the other ones you will need to buy them or get an magical character craft them for you.

The craft presented earlier is for the majority of the M.G. the rest of the price is another separate craft roll that will be discussed later on if someone is making a "Mechanik" which is usually wizards/clerics that dedicate to Mech's.

There are prestige classes for this setting also which Mechanik is one of them.

A few question about the setting...

The total population (1.85M) seems low for a kingdom as expansive as Ozmoria seems to be. Are there vast tracts of unoccupied land with the population concentrated in large cities and hamlets, or am I imagining the country as larger than it is?

About how long ago was the Five Kings War? If I'm reading it right, it involved Riviura invading Ozmoria and fighting and pillaging all the way to Ozmose before being driven back. Do the Riviruan humans belong to a different ethnic group than the Ozmorians? I could easily see Aaron as a child born from one of the "conquests" of that war, if the timeline works out.

I was looking over martial classes that might be appropriate to the campaign, and Ranger came to mind. Would you allow a new combat style for Mechs?

Aaron's family name is Lockley. Nothing's jumped out at me yet as a callsign/code name. If it's urgent that we have one now, feel free to assign one- otherwise I'll see if anything comes to mind as we do more character development.

The Exchange

As much as I want to be a part of this, I can't come up with anything I can really get behind. Have fun, all.

I have a half-orc I would like to submit, but would like to know something first.

Since he was a Monk, and is going to turn into a Martial Artist, how would his class features work in a mech?

I'd play a bard otherwise.

Dark Archive

Archetypes are fine with me as long as they are in the books, just tell me which one so i know the mechanics of it.

Yes Most Kingdoms were once a unified nation, that went into civil war and is what you know now, being Riviura the kingdom name and most despised by the other ones as tyrants.

Monk's unarmed combat does not apply to mechs, nor fast movement. The bonus AC from wisdom and level do apply as well as evasion.

Ozmoria has some cities and towns, villages are usually around an important area as they house the workers and their families, like a refinery or a lumber mill would have a village close by or next to it.

Hamlet's are very rare but not unheard of in Ozmoria and they would usually be next to a defensive station housing them, making this "hamlets" more as temporary housing for soldiers and some permanent occupants that sell their wares.

Dark Archive

Last day before I choose, there is plenty of response.

This will be my profile for the game. I'm holding off on actually applying the levels until I know the campaign-specific rules and feats...

Dark Archive

Fair enough as I have also asked to do exactly that, just present background answering my questions and a concept.

Last day of recruitment will have OOC thread ready tomorrow or maybe tonight if no new people come.

Oops, I meant to post that *this* will be the profile...

*blush*

Final Cut:

Kyras Ashnal
Bram Dryerlyth
Gwenytte Valimar
Henk Smarne
Aaron Lockley
Oerik Lenen

Actually I think this are all the ones that submitted character lmao.

Azten has a final chance to submit something and I might be able to squeeze ya in the team. Other than that this is the final cut.

Will have an OOC thread by tomorrow with more details. Welcome to Ozmoria!

Working on an alias for him now, but other than equipment(this seems like it's going to use d20 Future since there are mech, so I'm waiting to find out before I buy armor), but here is Grigori Faust the Third's reason for becoming a cadet.

My reason for joining: I get to play a Mech Pilot! That's awesome, I don't care who you are.

Grigori's Reason for joining the Military: Grigori's a tiefling, much to his father's displeasure, and has hated the way he is treated because of it. Ignored, mistreated, and verbally abused, Grigori turned to his family's history to see just whose fault it was he had traces of demon blood flowing through his veins. Instead of the answer he sought, he found his namesake: Grigori Faust the First, his grandfather. His grandfather, who died before Grigori was born, was militant in his ways, and theorized that necromancy could create a completely loyal army.

Not caring about the occult enough to go as far as creating undead, Grigori instead turned to the military academy of Ozmoria. His father was more than happy to be rid of his “demonic disappointment”. There, he found that not only was he much stronger than he looked, but that he was generally accepted there. He also found he wanted to pilot mecha, and signed up for pilot training as soon as he could.

EDIT: Codename "Reaper", because he has a scythe and his hair almost looks like a reaper's hood.

Decent enough Azten welcome aboard and the OOC is up

Dark Archive

Well I was expecting some more people but there is 1 maybe 2 spots open if there are still people interested.

Dark Archive

Looking for some replacement players if there are people interested in playing I'm taking in maximum 2 players MAYBE 3

this is a Fantasy/Mech campaign for pathfinder.

Rules for character creation:

Races Allowed: Human, Half-(orc or elf), Aasimar or Tiefling.
Point buy: 30 point (you will need it)
Level: Start at level 2 (Maximum stating gold for your class, not gold per level)

You are not forced to be Mech pilots by any means there will still be wizards and dungeon crawling, urban warfare, battlefields and some other more morale questionable endeavors.

All archetypes are valid

You will start if you choose to be a Mech Pilot with the Mech Operation and Mech Weapon Proficiency. Classes with heavy weapon proficiency can trade it for Personal Firearms proficiency to be able to use almost any firearm.

Dark Archive

Houserules I like to use but you are not subject to them if the majority doesn't like them.

* Roll for it and keep the average number if you roll anything lower than that.
* Trained skills do not require a roll if you are above the DC.
Example: Mr X has Climb 5 and the DC to climb a wall is 15, the average roll is 15 so he does not need to roll. Mr Y has Climb 2 and the same DC he needs to roll because he needs a greater effort to achieve it, while Mr. X is well trained and capable for it.

The exception to this rule is during combat or some special occasions.

* Untrained skills always require a roll.
* Initiative is not rolled, you just take the average roll (10) and add your initiative. Those with low initiative can still roll for it if they choose to do so.
* Some times I will DMfiat something for story purposes or cinematic flare.
* There is a chance that players can win extra traits during the campaign as well as negative traits like (rival, nemesis, etc...)

Liberty's Edge

Dotting...
I will have a concept up tomorrow...gives me some time to think.
Awesome campaign idea.

I am thinking a Magus...would that work in your mechs?

Dark Archive

Every class works on a Mech to a certain extent so you might be able to empower the melee weapons of your mech only probably and your personal one.

I would like to submit the Human Magus (Kensai) Corbin du Bec, codename: Raven.

Corbin was born a common peasant. He left a difficult home situation; his father was a drunk and his mother was weak. Looking for some semblance of stability, he enlisted in the army as a mechanic..

Providence would find him there. In the midst of an enemy ambush on their base camp, Corbin jumped into the cockpit of a nearby mech whose pilot has been killed. At that moment he understood the controls as if he had been born into them. Magic flowed from within and helped him to repulse the attack. The base commander, seeing his potential, sent him to be a cadet.

Corbin eagerly jumped at the chance to leave his old life further behind, fighting every day never to go back. He will take every opportunity to increase the distance between him and his father, though he regrets leaving his mother behind to face him.

His codename, Raven, comes from his jet black hair, yellow eyes, and a sharp, hook-shaped nose.

His chosen weapon is the mech. When he is not piloting the mech, he has very little power.

Not sure exactly how to write up the mech as a Kensai weapon, if you are ok with that.

Dark Archive

Mech's cannot be your kensai weapon, nor special mount, summon or thing, you still have your regular weapon as a kensai, but what happens is when you use the same weapon while piloting a mech your abilities transfer to it.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, I can work with that.

Dark Archive

Np I will introduce you very soon ^^

Liberty's Edge

Cool, let me know what you need from me for the character.

Liberty's Edge

Since I have not heard back in some time I am going to withdraw from this game.

What we are still here sorry we are taking a bit of time heh

holidays are still hard for me
