Telperion Anastra wrote:Sorry I posted out of order during combat, there.I was actually hoping Garik's gonna miss his attack on the wolf so that Telp's turn would still happen. The imagery of Telp's attack was totally epic...gout of blood towards his open mouth was really so....him! :D lol
Lol. I posted cause I'd thought I'd be away long enough to hold up the game. But as soon as I saw the rolls, I knew Bolkin and Garik were going to kill the darn things!

Sorry I wasn't true to my word but my weekend sort of got pulled out from under me.
Fortunately, we seem to be about half and half on folks with Acro trained and two of the others at least have positive modifiers.
I imagine Drosk is at risk of being shaking around in his tin can a bit, though.

Basically when Garik made that Survival check to check the weather, I managed to miss the one mention of rain in the whole book - the hill the group just descended was supposed to be a rain-slicked precipice, which I would have felt justified in not allowing you to take 10 on. I assume that's the assumption from when they wrote the adventure. Of course, I said that it was going to be clear and I don't want to go back on my word there.
I'm pretty cool with how things worked out, especially as I wasn't enamored with the encounter. Knowing my luck somebody'd flunk a reflex save, roll max on the DEX damage and fall unconscious from a sprained ankle.
On a more serious note, I'm a bit swamped and possibly under the weather (or perhaps just tired), so I may need to 'stall' for a day or two while I work out maps (bad procrastination, bad!) That said there's plenty more roleplay to be had before we get there, so don't hold back. I'll keep ya'll apprised of the situation.

Drosk Ironhame |

Yeah, I'm fighting a sinus infection today myself, so I know where you're coming from. Hope you feel better soon!

Garik Randor |

A little aside about that hill 'encounter'
Lol! Thanks for this Zeb. It explains a lot why the module included that encounter if all we had to do is just take 10. That little detail about the rain was indeed crucial. Who would've thought that seemingly "wasted roll" of 20 survival check earlier would inadvertently "influence" how this encounter pans out :) As a DM I would've also easily overlooked that detail about the rain.
Hope you get well soon! No worries here...take your time to rest!

Drosk Ironhame |

Why is it whenever adventurers enter a crypt, it's always dusk? :P
Because they haven't seen all of the horror movies that demonstrate that doing so is such a bad idea...

ZebulonXenos |

Speaking of horror, I loves me some spoilers.
I appreciate everybody's concerns, and I seem to be doing better. I think I was right and it was just my body complaining about lack of rest thanks to rampant insomnia.
For the sake of just spamming the link everywhere, here's our dungeon map again. I'll add that document with the points of interest as everybody gets a look at them instead of just our intrepid elf friend.

Garik Randor |

It's friday evening here at GMT +8 right now (11pm actually) and I'll be signing off in a while as usual for the weekend. See you on monday (sunday night actually to most of you) then, guys! Though I think I can't help but peek on my celfone anyway this weekend. It's a hell though to post via my celfone :)

ZebulonXenos |

Alright, apparently we can consider my weekends pretty much officially downtime now as I'm gonna be routinely busy during them. I'll post where I can, but no promises.
I'll move things along tomorrow. EDIT: Actually, given Garik's timezone, I'll go ahead and do it now, since I've already started editting the map and have the time.
Working on adding permissions for folks, too - if anybody has a google account or whatever, lemme know the e-mail address and I'll set it up to give you permissions.

ZebulonXenos |

Hmm, I was hoping this encounter would go a bit more like a set-piece as the dead pulled themselves up to assault the protagonists, but I suppose horror tropes don't work so well when you've got six jumpy adventurers who send all but the luckiest of them flying apart in a single blow.
Anyway, I figure it's fair warning to say you won't be finding many more encounters who are literally lying down on the job.
edit: Here's the long-awaited companion to the map. Not much of interest there right now.

So undead are vulnerable to sneak attacks and crits in Pathfinder? Makes sense, the way Telperion described the attack.
Yep! Only Oozes, Elementals and Incorporeal are immune to sneak attack damage. I think that means Undead and Constructs lost immunity from 3.5.
It seems to make sense.Certainly not complaining now that I'm a rogue! :-)

ZebulonXenos |

SA immunities were one of my pet peeves in 3.5. It was more a theoretical thing because my group (and myself) trend towards the other three 'classic roles', but you have to admit... How do you kill a zombie? You shoot 'im in the head. Most of the beasties in the bestiary can be reasonably expected to have some weak point in their construction they don't want something stuck in, so I think it works well from both a mechanical and roleplay standpoint.
Things that are basically big ol' blobs of stuff and/or energy are of course the exception to the 'having a weak point' thing.

Garik Randor |

oops! Din't notice that Grukk meant the "other" door but I guess Raven's right that the group has decided to do some heroic saving first and seems like by what the new map reveals we're going to the source of the wailing which presumably is the one on the right of the map.
Ok guys, weekend time so Garik'll be quiet for some time. See you then!

Garik Randor |

Sorry haven't posted for quite a while . . . real life's just severely taking over right now and probly til monday next week and I am mostly offline and my new work doesn't give me access to the web but I'll do something about being online in another way as I'm too hooked for our particular PbP...just pls bear with my intermitent posting these days.....really am so sorry ...

Garik Randor |

FYI also. Just had my web access up at my new work but dang! Paizo is blocked, even the google maps :( So I dont even know where Garik's in the map hehehe.... Though been posting via my cel which is quite difficult,my cell couldnt show the map as well. But hey dont worry I'm stil working on havin' to post regularly,it's just that it's so crazy at work these days that I cant even make time to access in an internet cafe (which we have plenty of here thankfully!)
:) just saying Garik's here, guys!

Raven Vargidan |

Guess I'm gonna take full on control of Grukk, too.
We could recruit a player to take over the character. They can create an alias with a similar name, Gruk or Gruuk or something. I've seen a group do that before, and it's a good way to keep the narrative of the story going along.

Drosk Ironhame |

+1 for recruiting a new player. Seems like there's several people on the Gamer Connection forum looking to join games.

ZebulonXenos |

I'm a bit leery on recruiting at this point. I doubt we'll be getting Grukk's player back, but I'll give him 'til Monday at least (since we're probably not gonna be moving too much over the weekend). I'm also leery to ask folks to step into a pre-built character's shoes.

Drosk Ironhame |

Not sure if we've been keeping track, but here's a list of potentially useful gear we've found so far:
From a sack outside the entrance to the Crypt -
2 days worth of rations
quiver w/ 10 blunted arrows
2 pints of lamp oil
In the entrance chamber of the Crypt there was mention of 'raised platforms on either side, one holding more packs and supplies' but I don't believe we ever checked them out.
Have I missed anything?

Garik Randor |

Hi Zeb, Thanks for the room description. But as I've said I got my head spinning around when the others made their moves :) Hey but don't worry I'm nearing to having an online access at home soon....yeah...yeah... I know I'm one of those who's not wired at home...well it's just that when I'm home I spend my time mostly with my family and don't bother going online...but this time I suppose I'll have to really do make the time for our PbP coz frankly I'm liking our group's character interaction ...though it's quite regretful that Grukk's gone.Ok back to the office I go!

ZebulonXenos |

Heh, you're welcome. Trying to be as accommodating as I can. Glad to here things'll be going a little smoother soon.
Things have now transferred to everybody having the beetle pinned against the wall, so there's probably not gonna be any tactical movement (except perhaps to retreat).

ZebulonXenos |

Grukk and Roldare are holed up in that room as it's a fairly defensible place an was originally intended for the chosen to rest there. As for sending them back to town, Roldare refuses to leave without his sister - sending Grukk back to let people know what happened is up to ya'll.

Drosk Ironhame |

I vote we have Grukk stay with Roldare unless something happens and the rest of us all die - then he can go back to town to let everyone know what happened.
