Flint - RHC Headquarters - The Breakroom

The entrance examinations for the Royal Homeland Constabulary have been grueling so far, but you've finally received a much needed break. Your examiner, who previously introduced himself as Assistant Chief Inspector Stover Delft squints at you as you make yourself comfortable. "Ten minutes," he says, swishing an ever present bit of tobacco around his mouth. He turns and exits with the aid of his cane - rumor has it that a mimic tore a chunk out of his leg a few years back - leaving you alone with your fellow examinees.

Lynn, during their break, had spent the entire time silent, and mostly ignoring people as she moved around the break room. She seemed tired, but she also seemed to have a great deal of nervous energy as she moved around the room, lifting various objects, turning them over in her hands, and eyeing them closely, before setting most of them down. On occasion, she'd weigh the object in her hand, or test it against her palm, or give it a few tosses before setting it back down.

She wore strange clothing... poorly, but custom made. Several pockets sewn into a trench coat, over top the RHC uniform (if they'd be wearing it during training, if not, white tank top, and black pants). She'd also modified the RHC uniform, however, by adding several belts to the legs that seemed to serve little-to-no purpose, besides possibly adding time to how long it would take her to get out of them.

Her face was just as animated as her hands, shooting from one object or person to another. There was something aloof about her, and the way her fingers seemed to twitch whenever she wasn't holding something in them. She's using sign language with Isabel on some occasions of this! On others, she's signing to no one in particular. She didn't seem to do much at all with her mouth though, which occassionally moved as if forming words, but making incoherent gibberish instead, if one were to read her lips. No sound came out above a breath.

Anyone paying particular attention would see that she never moved too far from one person in particular - Isabel.

Sorry for being late to the party :p I figure that gives a pretty accurate description of how Lynn reacts and responds to situations during play. :)

She is currently sporting a 'cure light wounds' extract and a 'heightened awareness' extract, as well as a dexterity mutagen. I'll get links up to spells sometime tomorrow. :)


I apologize for no post today. It's been busy. Couple that with a poor night's right last night and I am too tired to think. I'll get something up tomorrow and get Drake moving.

In the meantime it's time for bed.

To restate what I said last night in a more self-aware manner from the gameplay thread:

Lynn doesn't feel the Dockers will do much in the way of harm here. It doesn't fit the people she knows. She could easily be wrong.

From what she knows of Isabel, it doesn't fit the Vakeshi MO to her, either. What good does destroying a ship used to defend the people do? It's not as though a ship can keep said people down!

She knows less about the military elite, but Dogfaced Hector would have either been a Technologist, or a Veteran. Technologists woul dhave no reason to attack, but she is predisposed versus those who cling to the ideals of wars long-gone by... especially since they bias people towards her and hers. She may irrationally feel that this particular group is more dangerous here.

Finally, she's very limited in her knowledge of the druidic people and their beliefs, as an unknown, they'll receive more scrutiny from her.

Also, if you're more interested in how we spend the full half hour with our post than each of us posting in 10 minute increments...

First 10 minutes: Canvas the groups as 'one of them', getting a feel for sentiment and rooting out anything that sows dissent in a language she understands. She'll get the police to pull whoever seems to be obviously dangerous in this way.

Second 10 minutes: Ditto, but trying to find people who she would identify as Dockers during this same time frame, instead focusing on appearances, and possible concealments, rather than conversation choices. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Third 10 minutes: If she can locate a trustworthy-looking group of Dockers, she'll attempt to recruit them to aid in keeping an eye out for anything dangerous, like requisitioning, but on the spot! :)

Per book, I think I can get a group to help out for half an hour, and do so with a +3 bonus to a skill. I'd lean towards sense motive or perception as being things they could possibly do. Roll if you need to! I think it's only a dip or intim roll if we have already asked for something. I figure with them already being here to watch, it shouldn't be too hard to get them to also keep an eye on the crowd, something they're probably used to doing (and would be doing) already! It also stands to reason, she may have arranged for a small group to do this Yesterday if that makes this more feasible! IN this case, have Lynn waving them in and making sure they get into the place be what she spends the time on. :)


Right now we'll be taking it in 10 minute rounds.

Correct. The 700 on the bridge right now were selected randomly by the police to be let in and cheer/sing/throw flowers/etc. A sizable police force at checkpoint 1 will keep out any unwanted guests, while a much smaller group of police holds checkpoint 2 until it's time to cross.

Err, incase it wasn't clear. It was my intention for the baggage check to be done while screening everyone for the first 700 people to get on the bridge. I'm not sure if that's possible now that I'm thinking of it.

Map system!

I like ditzie. You'd need to register here: http://beta.ditzie.com/gallery/main.php, You can then upload all your pictures/maps/etc under the 'album' section (top right I believe).

Once you have all your stuff uploaded you can access it by going to the URL: http://beta.ditzie.com/username where username is the username you registered under. You can then drag your items into the white space and resize them by holding shift, clicking on the item and resizing it.

Once you have everything set up you hit enter, and it will generate a unique URL, you post that URL in your post and we can see the map. From there we can access it and move our characters and tokens, generate our own URLs and keep things moving.

It's a good system, and cuts down on DM editing, though the players need to make sure they grab the right map and post their URL maps in their posts if they make changes.

You also have extra options if you double click on an item you've dropped into the white space such as setting to the background, opacity, etc. Things such as maps are good to have set as a background that way the 'layers' of things don't end up behind one another.

If it helps I don't mind screen capping and cropping player tokens. Or if there are other pictures people want to use for themselves.


Interesting, I'll do some experimenting with ditzie tonight. I take it I can't edit my maps from a smartphone?

It's viewable, but unfortunately not editable. I haven't been able to find a way to do it at least.

Hey everyone. I wanted to ask around how you all thought about proceeding without a healer for the time being and getting a move on with the story.

We can try to sort out some supplemental healing, while we throw up a targeted thread for a healer/divine of some sort to help fill that gap.

Generally from what GMEDWIN has mentioned...the first book can get a bit rough, and having someone able to patch us up will be the difference between failure and success.

I would leave the final decision up to GMEDWIN of course, but if you know any good writers willing to throw a good backstory together and are willing to take on a cleric. Let them know about the game and point them here!

I'm very much open to continuing. I recognize that the stuff is kind of balanced on a razor's edge (Lynn came very close to dying in that first fight even with the DM very obviously pulling his punches). Most of the players I'd trust to not abandon it are also 'at their quota' so to speak, of games that they're in or want to be in.

Well the first fight with the Dockers wouldn't have been lethal anyway. :)
It seems as though Lazarus will be repurposing his character to an Oracle. Unless you know someone who would like to play a healer type, be it cleric, oracle, bard, shaman or whatever.

Hopefully we can get started within the next 2-3 days.

Tis the season to be busy.

My job picks up when school is out. I'm going to be a bit more busy for a while. This won't really affect whether or not I -do- post in threads, just the speed at which I do. Some days, I won't be able to really get posts in at work, other days it won't be very bad. Today is likely to be one of those days where I'll either post around noon, or not at all until I'm home.

I'm kind of limited in what I feel capable of doing, at the moment. I'll admit I can probably take a slightly more proactive role in dealing with things, but Lynn is supposed to be 'watching' and she's reacted to everything that she has watched.

Sigh... I'm a dufus. I'd expressly made sure she could at least carry her bombs... but a month makes for a really bad memory. Not that she'd have had a chance to do anything differently up to this point: Without knowledge of the woman's spell, she wouldn't have gone for something as lethal as fire. She also wasn't exactly expecting to get thwacked (which I guess is why the feat treats unarmed folks as flat-footed: It's easy to underestimate someone who only has a wrench).


Ah right she didn't regear so it did hit but cain healed her earlier,

Lazarus will make his way closer to Lynn once more, and cast a healing spell. "Oh dear...

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
so she should of had 4 not 0 hp so she'd still be at 2 unless i missed something

Yes you missed my post underneath it where I mentioned needed to double move, which implied he couldn't heal her that round. CLW needs physical contact. Lynn had to double move to get to the engineers.

Before Cain had healed her she was at -2 +4 she then healed herself and was at +7 then she got hit by the big wrench and went to 0. Before Cain could try to heal her again he got in melee.


Alright so Cain vs 3? Engi's not looking good.

Just had my wisdom teeth removed so i'll be on pain meds pretty constantly for the next 3-4 days or so maybe more, it shouldnt effect my posting much but I still thought i should tell all my groups.

Okay, so... I should have said something back when the other players were looking for a DM. But I didn't. From nearly the start of this campaign, I wasn't feeling it. The setting was awesome, the DM was awesome. But it was really difficult. Especially since the campaign was probably written for a full group and we only ever really had three people. Sure, we had a few posts from the other players, but those were mostly just *So and so minds their own business*.

When they looked for a new DM after the old one vanished, I was a little hopeful; clearly, someone besides me cared enough (no offense to the other players, this doesn't reflect on you, it reflects on me). And then you came to help out. But... I still haven't been feeling it. I did such a bad job of paying attention (and I feel like I paid the most attention!) that I completely neglected that I had fire resistance 5 when you hit me with burning hands. That's no bueno. I made a huge mistake about my own character, and that showed how inattentive I was being.

Now we've come up on a situation that I don't think we can really resolve. We don't have any of these skills. It's been a struggling slugfest the whole way that would have went better with better attention from all the players involved, (especially me), and now we've reached the part where the ship blows up and there's not really anything we can do. Or whatever the ship is going to do. After having been saved from a TPK by our boss who likely wasn't even supposed to be there. (I do kind of wonder where the -normal- guards on the ship are)

I mean... I love my character. I love the setting. But I don't think I can make it work right now. I've become more and more adversarial with my posting, and that isn't me. It's not what I want to be known for. And I really, really don't want to be frustrated by a game. I agree that sometimes you lose. I just feel like this entire campaign has been a long loss.

I'm sorry that I didn't say anything. And I'll stick it out until the scene is over so you can continue if you'd like. But... I'm just really not feeling it anymore.
