Mwikali looks at some of the Gnolls and throws out her hand and utters some arcane phrases before her a little bead of flame arcs out and falls into a group of gnolls to explodes in a ball of fiery doom!!!

Fireball Reflex DC18

[dice=Fireball!!]10d6

Mwikali's fireball incinerates the last gnoll!

The Cardinal fires again, aiming for the next of the noisy gnolls.

[dice=Flurry]d20+13 [dice=Damage]d8+3

+2 to hit on each one and [dice=Extra Damage]2d6 if Holy Applies

Another flurry of arrows from the Red Archer drops another flind!

ROUND 1:

Realizing they have been spotted, the other two flinds rise to their feet and, howling with bestial bloodlust, dash toward the campsite, brandishing their flindbar weapons overhead!

OOLOOLOOLOOLOOOO!!!

Move action to stand up, move action to close from 100 ft to 70 ft away...

Lucius whispers in Latin, causing Seraphim to unroll next to him. He nods to Machiavelli, before grasping Dies Irae and stepping onto Seraphim.

The carpet whisks him across the camp towards the raiders and Lucius aims and fires with smooth precision.

[dice=Flurry]d20+13 [dice=Damage]d8+3
[dice=Flurry]d20+13 [dice=Damage]d8+3
[dice=Flurry]d20+8 [dice=Damage]d8+3

Also Lucius can cast Continual Flame once per day, so if anyone wants to have a magical lantern made for them he's had plenty of time to do it!

The Cardinal sends three shafts to pierce the lead flind, which grunts in shock and gurgles as its lifeblood leaks out into the desert sand...

One flind down, two flinds and six hyenas left...

The gnolls (actually flinds of the Bloodlapper tribe) crawl on their bellies over the dunes toward the campsite... Stealth 1d20 - 2 + 10 ⇒ (3) - 2 + 10 = 11 at 100 feet distance vs Perception checks...
Stealth 1d20 - 2 + 10 ⇒ (3) - 2 + 10 = 11 at 100 feet distance vs Perception checks...
Stealth 1d20 - 2 + 10 ⇒ (5) - 2 + 10 = 13 at 100 feet distance vs Perception checks...

Crawling on their bellies over the dunes under cover of darkness, the Bloodlapper flinds slowly begin to creep up on the expedition's campsite... But they are wearing heavy iron scalemail and carrying flindbars, while trying to maintain control over their hyenas, and the adventurers on watch most likely perceive the approaching raiders!

Night time random encounter rolls have determined that 3d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 1) = 3 gnolls with 2d4 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6 hyenas have sighted the adventurers' campfire while out on a nocturnal hunt, from a distance of 10d10 + 50 ⇒ (8, 5, 2, 1, 6, 5, 3, 6, 10, 10) + 50 = 106 feet away!

Crouching behind a boulder and keeping firm holds on their hyenas' leashes, they spy on the encamped travelers...

Whispered in Gnoll: Fresh meat! Travelers with riding beasts... Enough meat to feed the whole tribe tonight! But do we dare attack? They are greater in number... Can we overwhelm them as they sleep?

Whispered in Gnoll: We wait and watch for now... Wait until they sleep...

To make a long story a bit shorter... You guys obviously have the last two at your mercy...

Seeing little hope of escape or mercy, and faced with a choice of suffocating to death, being slain by enemies, or taking their own lives quickly, the forlorn gnolls fall upon their spears, impaling themselves in gruesome suicide!

The gnoll gripped in throes of hideous laughter tries to pull it together... Will save vs DC 14 1d20 ⇒ 17 succeeds! The spell is broken...

Mwikali wrote:

Mwikali directs the cloak at the Gnoll with it unraveling enough to stab.

[dice=Attack]1d20+3
[dice=damage]1d4+3

The magically animated cloak whips at the gnoll, but the beast ducks...

Desperate to escape the suffocating smoke, the gnoll not incapacitated with laughter tries to overrun its way free over Mwikali...1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 Provoking attack’s of opportunity from Mwikali and those adjacent to her (looks like Altin and Giovanna could get AoOs)

Volreg attempts to blast the nearest gnoll with another electrical blast!

"This, is a lot harder than it sounded!"

[dice=Electric Blast+Point Blank Shot:Touch]d20+3+1
[Dice=Electric Damage+Point Blank Shot]d6+2+1

YIIIPE!!

The gnoll jerks as Volreg’s sparks dance along its shaggy frame, causing its fur to stand straight out!

Lord Perpireen McGibel wrote:

looks about and sees the rock he flung before. With a flick of his hands he sends it once more at a gnoll.

K-H TH 1d20+5 DMG1d6

The stone flies up and hits one under the chin.

THUNK! The telekinetic stone upper cuts the choking gnoll, which causes the laughing gnoll to laugh even harder!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!

Altin Karela wrote:

Altin begins to sing a wordless, absurd-sounding Romani melody, drawing on the musical magic of his people. He releases the force, gesturing at one of the gnolls.

Casting hideous laughter on any gnoll that's still standing by my turn, Will DC 14.

Will vs DC 14 hideous laughter 1d20 ⇒ 5 fails!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!

Wulfgar Ivarsson wrote:

Blast! They finally got smart and decided to bull rush their way past. Time to get serious.’ Lifting his great sword, Wulfgar lets out a roar and begins to rage. ”Aaaarrrrggghhhh”, his appearance changes, the most obvious thing is the bright light from a halo that has formed; shining through the smoke. Less obvious, but just as disconcerting, his skin appears like pewter and his eyes turn white the same color as the halo. If one is looking carefully they will see his cast shadow has wings like a seraphim.

Slashing at the gnoll that he attacked earlier. He then steps back. "Step back give them a gauntlet to run!"
Rage, AC 17 HP 6, attack: great sword, 5 ft step back (to original spot)
[dice=attack]1d20+8 for [dice=damage]2d6+9

Wulfgar’s raging blade saws a gnoll down the middle! A shower of blood rains upon the desert sands!

Giovanna di Domenico wrote:

[dice=attack]1d20+5; 1d6+3 [dice=p/r]1d20+5; 1d20+5; 1d6+3

The gnoll’s spear clashes with Giovanna’s rapier...

The three remaining gnolls, in danger of succumbing to smoke inhalation, emerge from the smoky cave, choking and gasping!

Top of the order!

Will save vs DC 14 color spray 1d20 ⇒ 4 fails... the other 1d20 ⇒ 12 fails as well...

McGibel’s cone of rainbow lights causes the gnolls in the cave entrance to have a seizure! They fall to the sand, twitching violently!

Sulayman Hain wrote:

Sulayman runs at one of the gnolls and attacks.

[dice=Attack]1d20+5
[dice=Damage]1d6+1

The gnoll dodges Sulayman’s gladius blade, choking and wheezing...

GAK! *cough!*

Volreg Sundek wrote:

"Mwikali!"

Anger building up, Volreg lashes out at the gnoll that downed the witch, next to Vanna.

[Dice=Electric Blast+Point Blank Shot:Touch]d20+3+1
[Dice=Electric Damage+Point Blank Shot]d6+2+1

"We need to save her!"

Volreg will move to where he can get to Mwikali without getting hit.

Bright sparks sizzle the gnoll's hide! It falls to the sand, shrieking and rolling around, trying to smother the electric charge ripping through its body!

EEEEAAAAAARRRKK!!!

3 down, 4 to go...

Giovanna di Domenico wrote:

Giovanna sees Mwikali drop and a flash of rage comes across her face. She steps foward purposefully and tries to run the gnoll through to the hilt. Your last mustake, dog! She then teadies to defend herself from any further attacks.

Vanna's rapier punctures the gnoll that struck down Mwikali...

GGRRRRAAAAHHH!!

One gnoll thrusts its spear at Sulayman 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20, piercing him for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 damage!

The other thrusts at Mwikali 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18, piercing her for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 damage!

Yikes! Mwikali is down!

Mwikali wrote:
She steps up and utters arcane syllables thrusting her hands out to burn the pair. reflex DC 14 for half

Reflex 1d20 ⇒ 8 and 1d20 ⇒ 1 both fail...

The gnolls are singed by the witch's fire!

YARP!

YARP!

Once a smoky fire has been lit in the cave entrance, the sounds of anxious barking and yapping can be heard from within, followed shortly by choking and coughing...

A moment later, two more gnolls emerge from the cave, gagging, choking and drooling!

Between Volreg’s electricity, Mwikali’s spear, and Lord P’s telekinetic stone, the beast is undone! It falls next to the other gnoll’s carcass...

Volreg Sundek wrote:

Once again, Volreg blasts at a creature emerging from the smoke. "I do say, that was a grand idea little Lord!"

[dice=Electric Blast+Point Blank Shot: Touch]d20+3+1
[dice=Electric Blast+Point Blank Shot]d6+2+1

Volreg’s lightning blasts the gnoll! It yelps in pain! NARF!!

As the adventurers are igniting a bedroll to smoke the gnolls out, a second gnoll appears in the threshold of the cave entrance to see what’s going on...

Round whatever... second verse same as the first!

Volreg’s electric blast and Vanna’s thrust bring the gnoll down!

YEERRRKK!!

1 down, 6 to go...

As the adventurers are gathered around discussing the possibility of smoking the gnolls out of their cave, McGibel drawing a floor plan and marking the gnolls’ positions with a stick in the sand, one of the gnolls emerges from the darkness to peer out the cave entrance and have a look around...

The lone gnoll is about in the middle of the 20-ft-wide cave entrance, on the threshold... The adventurers are in a group about 20 feet west of the cave entrance when they see the gnoll emerge from the shadows! Go ahead and act in the established initiative order...

Yuk-yuk?

The gnolls shriek and bark horrifically as the glowing sprite flies about the cavernous lair, taunting them!

GGGRRRRRRRR!!!! YARK!! YARK!! YARK!!

The stubborn and crafty gnolls play the waiting game...

Ready actions to attack from their secret posts within the lair...

Wulfgar Ivarsson wrote:

a quick question for the purposes of the readied action, the map has us 20 ft from the edge of the cave, I assumed we stopped moving when the yipping started so we would get 60ft for ranged attacks. Are w in fact further away, and just there so we can see our alignment to the cave or are we actually that near the cave?

if were 60 ft away, Wulfgar would use the sling first round and then sword second round, if we are 20 ft away he would have switched to the sword.

They are tenacious, forcing you to draw within twenty feet before giving fight... They, too, wish to lure YOU in...
