Ameiko instinctively brings her hand to her face before she realizes what he meant. She gives a short laugh, "Call it a new fashion statement." The she talks to the whole group, "You four saved Sandpoint, to put it bluntly. On behalf of the Rusty Dragon, you all get rooms for a week with no cost to yourselves. I'm going there now, but feel free to head over at anytime, dinner is on me."

Tavius Taurandir |

"Thank you Ameiko, I look forward to another great meal and maybe this time we won't be interrupted by goblins." Tavius says before whistling to Setius.

Strife gives a glance in the carnival's direction, even though he can't see it. "The company of a pretty woman, a real bed, and food that isn't cooked by Shomu the Dog-boy? I probably won't be a hard sell." He would argue that he didn't really do much, but he isn't going to willingly talk his way out of the offered comforts. He looks to the others quickly, to see if they rightly object to his inclusion.

![]() |

Tarnish says, "Going to the Rusty Dragon sounds like a plan to me."
Tarnish nods at Strife and says, "Much better than trying to hide in a temple where the food and the beds wouldn't be that great. We can't all be front line soldiers, but neither can we always hide all the time. Eventually you're going to have to figure out how to fight."

Wivvy |

"Well there's plenty of time for that later. For now let's all get a bath and some sleep. Follow me I'll show you to your rooms."
If all of you follow.
Once you are at the Rusty Dragon, dinner is provided for free. In the morning Ameiko greets you all. "Good morning everyone, sleep well? Breakfast is served in the eating area if you want it."

Tavius Taurandir |

"An affectionate term goblins have for us taller folk." Tavius says laying his cloak on the back of his chair before joining the others.

![]() |

Tarnish says, "Talking to the Sheriff might not be a bad idea. Though it sounds like for whatever reason that the goblins are more focused than usual."
Tarnish stops talking for a while as he hungrily devours Amieko's cooking.

Kugrim |

"I have observed the goblins around here often and 'focus' is not a trait I would usually impute to them. There's something afoot." After he finishes eating, Kugrim turns to Amieko and says, "Thank you for the food and lodging. Defending the town was no more than my duty; your generosity is appreciated."

Tavius Taurandir |

Tavius eats slowly enjoying the food unlike two of his companions. "Did they somehow form a better command structure, or is that even a possibility?" Tavius asks between bites of food.

Kugrim |

Kugrim replies to Tavius: "I wouldn't have thought so, but I have to admit that I'm not the fairest judge when it comes to goblins."
_______
When Ameiko suggests visiting the sheriff, Kugrim says: "I care not for thanks, but it's always prudent to report to one's commanding officer in times like this. He is the leader of your people, is he not? More intelligence never hurt, either. I fear we have not heard the last of my ill-mannered 'cousins.'" He spits the last word.

![]() |

Tarnish chuckles. He says, "The Sheriff doesn't actually 'command' anything. Except maybe a couple of deputies. Speaking to him is a good idea, but he doesn't have the legitimate authority to order us to do anything more than just obey the law."

Kugrim |

Kugrim looks at Tarnish as though he'd just stepped out of a portal to another plane. "The leader of your enforcers isn't in charge? Then who is? Somebody must be; otherwise you would be as wantonly destructive as those intruders yesterday. The only thing that keeps bedlam from occurring is the iron fists of law and duty. Who wields the fists in this town?"

Tavius Taurandir |

"That would be the mayor my grey friend, and I don't think they weild fists in the sense your trying to make." Tavius says as he finishes up his meal.
"Lets make our way to the sheriff then, getting some information will be better than having none." Tavius scoots his chair back (Without breaking it, I laugh at you other thread) and dons his cloak. "Thank you fair Ameiko I look forward to another amazing meal later today."

![]() |

Tarnish finishes his meal and gets up when the others do. He says to Amieko, "Thanks for the meal. Your cooking was excellent."
Turning to Kugrim, Tarnish says, "By and large people pretty much live their own lives doing more or less whatever they want to when they want to do it. Also by and large they more or less obey the law because they realize that's usually the better way to do things. Even criminals will more often than not obey the law because continually breaking all the laws all the time simply causes too many problems. That's why the town can get by with only one Sheriff and a small number of deputies. There really isn't too much for them to do other than make an occasional example of the most egregious law breakers."

Wivvy |

When you reach the sheriff he greets you all by saying in an uncharacteristically cheerful manor "Hello! First off I personally want to thank you for your service to Sandpoint. Second, I need your help with something. Shall we talk on the way to the cemetery?"

Tavius Taurandir |

Wivvy |

"It's probably nothing, but Father Zantus discovered that our last priests tomb door was open this morning. Worst case it's a goblin that hid in there, but I figured I would have you guys along so I could thank you all personally for your heroics. Now, why did you fellas come and find me?"

![]() |

Tarnish says, "There are a couple of reasons. The first is we were wondering if you were able to find out why the goblins attacked. It seems like it would be out of character for them to launch a raid with so small a chance of success. The second is that I was wondering if there is any sort of bounty on goblins. Or at the very least somebody who might be willing to buy the weapons we recovered from them."

![]() |

Strife follows behind as the group goes to find the sheriff. He is curious as to whether there are any answers to be found, and nobody said that he couldn't come along.
He definitely perks up at the mention of Father Zantus discovering the tomb door and a possible goblin hiding inside. "The Father... he's okay, right?" He seems surprised by his own question and bashfully hopes that the real warriors don't send him away.

Wivvy |

Talking t Tarnish, the sheriff says "All we could get out of those little monsters is that they were given orders to burn everything to the ground and their leader is a human. As for bounty, can't help you there, but you could get a great price by selling your loot to the armory." Then he looks at Strife and says,"Yeah he's fine, a little tired from having to heal so many people, but that's just part of the job. The city couldn't survive without people like him." he smiles knowingly at Strife. Then he looks a Kugrim with the first facial expression that didn't look faked, "Real sense of honor you got. I like you."
You have all arrived at the cemetery now.

![]() |

Tarnish looks the cemetery over just on general principles.
Perception check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Tarnish replies to the Sheriff, "The goblins are being led by a human? That's odd. Thanks for the tip about the armory. Now which tomb was the one that was broken into?"

Tavius Taurandir |

Animal Focus: Falcon
Keeping my eyes extremely open: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19
"So they do have some better orginization now."

Setius |

Setius flies gracefully over the town watching as others go about their daily routine. Tallfolk were strange and liked to stay in one place no matter the season, Setius had stayed the last two years for Tavius fearing his tallfolk would get eaten without him.
Setius spotted Tavius with the same tallfolk from yesterday and a new one as they entered a field with shaped stones everywhere. He stayed above them watching the group.

Tarnish says, "I've got a lantern we can use if somebody wants to hold it."
Tarnish turns to Strife and says, "Unless you can make light magically. That might be better."

Tavius Taurandir |

"I can light the way." Tavius says and mumbles light on the back of his left hand.
"I think their leader might have been here, I'm guessing these to be goblin tracks and this larger one some Longshank."
Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Wivvy |

Tavius sees that about six goblins and a medium humanoid scaled the wall and entered the tomb.
When you all walk into the tomb, you see that the raising party left a nasty surprise. Two skeletons are waiting in the vault for you upon entrance. The sheriff curses when he realizes that he forgot his weapon. "You guys got this?" he calls to them, already backing out of the tomb.

![]() |

Tarnish draws his warhammer and says, "We got it. I don't think it will be a problem."
If it's wide enough to get two abreast Tarnish will move up alongside Kugrim. If it's not Tarnish will suggest that Kugrim stay behind him. Tavius and Strife can bring up the rear.

![]() |

Scratch the previous ooc comment about how Tarnish was moving. Instead Tarnish will move two squares diagonally SE and then one square E. He will hold position there waiting for S2 to engage.

Tavius Taurandir |

Tavius pulls out his flail advances slightly and waits for the skeletons to come closer.
moving two square northeast

Tarnish says, "I've got a lantern we can use if somebody wants to hold it."
Tarnish turns to Strife and says, "Unless you can make light magically. That might be better."
Strife looks at Tarnish in bewilderment. "Magic light? How would I do that? I'm just a carnival fortune-teller." Strife twitches suddenly, as if seeing something out of the corner of his eye. When he turns back, Tavius has cast Light. "Oh, you meant him. Sorry."
When the skeletons appear, Strife exclaims, "Oh, holy...Nine Hells..."
Strife follows behind Tarnish, keeping the warrior between him and the skeleton. He claps Tarnish on the shoulder. "Fight well... please." Cast Guidance.
Move: 20' SE to E2?
Std: Cast: Guidance. Target: Tarnish.

Wivvy |

Thanks to Kugrim Skeleton1 is now an assortment of bone fragments.

Tarnish attacks S2 with his warhammer.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Using guidance.
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
That should have done it. :-)
Tarnish says, "Just like I said. No problem at all."

Tavius you immediately notice that the sarcophagus has been pried open and the remains of the priest were stolen, and after closer examination, you see a discarded robe of bones lying in the corner (now useless). The sheriff comes down after the fight and curses when he sees that the remains of the priest are gone. "Well at least we know wht what they were after",he says, "but why?"
