So, for the sake of future expenses, I want to keep a running tally of everyone's gear and expenditure of gold for the group to ensure we have the right equipment or nobody is paying too much out of pocket. This should help in the future for a party fund. We should probably set a system like 10% of all loot goes to the fund and the remainder gets split among the party, or something like it.
That way, we won't have one person always reaching into their pocket for expenses because some of us are gold hungry. (Like Yeldrid's ammo)
If everyone would care to post their gear and gold to me over PM's or here, I'll set up a doc to keep track of everything.

I'm giving you guys a short window to respond and roleplay, to pace things out. Then we're going into the forest proper.
One problem I'm seeing with the "bonus slot" idea: Split parties leads to a split timeline, and the delays are probably a bit annoying to the bonus slot's player. Rest assured, Trekkie, the next post will move Zyxebrax's story along.

I would say as long as you're willing to message the bonus slot player when the group actually gets around to their area it should be fine. From my perspective at least, it's only 'a little bit annoying' not knowing when I actually have to start paying attention to the thread, or if I will in the case of a party that has trouble deciding what it wants to do--and it really isn't that bad.

I should probably acknowledge right now that Fridays are always going to get away from me, as they're the days where I get up early for the bus, run one game, then get home and play in another, then stay up late talking to my sister (who gets home on the weekends). If any day of the week is going to be dead for my posting, it's Friday.

Rex Paladin of Danaan |

Sorry for being a bit absent. Between being busy at work and general stress-related issues I haven't been as active.
Baylily isn't really coming to life for me as I hoped she would.
So are you done with Baylily or the game?

Kobold Catgirl |

We might want to be taking stock of this game. KingOfAnything isn't feeling the character, and YoLlama isn't posting very often at all. As a general rule of thumb, when I have to go to a previous page just to find a post from a given player, there's a problem—especially since we're not exactly powering through the pages here. As I said on the Recruitment thread, I want everyone to be fairly proactive in their roleplaying.
I'm still up for running this game, obviously. I know I was posting a little sluggish out the gate, but I'm trying to get at least one or two posts up per day now (with the exceptions of Fridays, which I'll probably only rarely post on at all). If you are still interested in playing, post within the next two days saying so. If there are changes you think would make your character or this adventure more engaging, let me know. If, on the other hand, you feel like it's time to bid your farewells, that's totally fine.
In summation, I'd rather have a small core of enthusiastic players than a large group of mixed enthusiastic and bored players. If one player isn't having fun, it has a negative effect on the whole game. I want everyone to be having a decent time here.

Kobold Catgirl |

Alright, so that's three of us. I think it would be best if we brought Lily Shadow into the main group.
What we need to consider: Do you guys want to try to pick up some new players, or should we go ahead with 3-4? Should we NPC Lanuola and Baylily, or should we try to move their characters out ASAP to avoid hassle?

Rex Paladin of Danaan |

Gunslinger, Swashbuckler, Paladin, Vigilante. We better murder everything before it hurts us or we are going to get bogged down from damage. 4 is a good number though.

Nakano Isamu |

Remember that Isamu is going Paladin, too, starting next level. Though he's going to stick with the light-armor dexterity-based combat style of the Swashbuckler, just with holy power to back it up.

Kobold Catgirl |

I'm going to be looking to resume the game tomorrow, but we'll need decent exits for Baylily and Lanuola. I'm thinking wild bear attack. I'm pretty sure I have an idea other than "wild bear attack" that'll leave the door open for a potential future reentry. :P
Look for the post in about fourteen hours. I'm going to bed. Today was a rotten day—lost my iPod. #firstworldproblems #butIlikedmyipodthough

Garbage-Tier Waifu |

Hey, Almonihah. You might want to have a look at this this archetype for Isamu. You can scale your Swash stuff with your paladin levels, if you're okay with losing spellcasting.

Nakano Isamu |

Oh, neat! Thanks for pointing that out to me. I'll have to debate over it and decide if I'm willing to lose all of those features to play up the swashbuckler side of things.

Rex Paladin of Danaan |

To all my games. Going to be on vacation from tomorrow to Sunday. I will have my phone but I hate posting using a touch screen. Phone is new a little sensitive so some words don't come out right.

Generating rules response...
The swashbuckler's Opportune Parry and Riposte states that the only important requirement for activation is,
...when an opponent makes a melee attack against the swashbuckler...
Using no language that bars attempts against attacks made at reach. However, it does state that while the swashbuckler can parry such an attack, the riposte portion of the ability can only be used
...provided that creature is within her reach.
Clearly preventing retaliation if the swashbuckler themselves cannot reach the creature that attacked them.
Isamu cannot use Opportune Parry and Riposte with any attack that is not directed towards him. He can, however, use his standard action to Aid Another against an attack directed against Lily. This is an attack roll made against an AC of 10. He would need to ready the action, since he cannot Aid Another while an attacker isn't within range. Additionally, the attacker must be within Isamu's own attack reach in order to activate the Aid Another readied action.
In melee combat, you can help a friend attack or defend by distracting or interfering with an opponent. If you’re in position to make a melee attack on an opponent that is engaging a friend in melee combat, you can attempt to aid your friend as a standard action. You make an attack roll against AC 10. If you succeed, your friend gains either a +2 bonus on his next attack roll against that opponent or a +2 bonus to AC against that opponent’s next attack (your choice), as long as that attack comes before the beginning of your next turn. Multiple characters can aid the same friend, and similar bonuses stack.
He could also make an Attack action as part of a Readied Action, so long as he ends his turn within reach of where he wishes to make the attack. Readied Actions are standard actions. He cannot ready a charge attempt. This is because when he could ready the charge, he could take more actions than just a standard action, preventing a standard action charge as part of the charge rules.
If you are able to take only a standard action on your turn, you can still charge, but you are only allowed to move up to your speed (instead of up to double your speed) and you cannot draw a weapon unless you possess the Quick Draw feat. You can’t use this option unless you are restricted to taking only a standard action on your turn.
This rule is due to an important developer philosophy: cavaliers cannot be allowed to have nice things.
None of these actions prevent Opportune Parry and Riposte against attacks directed against him.
Shutting down...

Finally, the site's working! Yeah, a ton of work suddenly came on my plate over the last few days. For one little tidbit of my current list of tasks, I now have to help edit someone's novel for about 25% of what I would get paid for equivalent time flipping burgers. So I need "a few days" (just one day, now, since I spent the last couple days scarcely able to access the forums) to get my schedule in order.
A post will be put up tomorrow, either noon or evening! Rex and Lily will be NPCed if they haven't posted by then.
