The party advances into the rough, unfinished expanse of the cavern. Clearly there were natural formations here before the prison was built and the cells excavated.
As you ponder the geology of the place 1d4 ⇒ 2 a glistening pseudopod lifts off the side of the cavern and swings at Randtam 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 slamming off of the magical barriers around him. The air hisses and pops and the scent of acid and ozone washes through your nostrils as an enormous oozing blob bulges towards the party!

Wonder what I should do...first thought burn, but do not want to use the spell needlessly unless I know nothing. Other than the knowledge that Vraxel knows I shall burn unless I know more. nice KNature roll here...

Responding quickly to the surprise attack of the ooze the party responds with weapons and spells!
Vraxel's blades sizzle and pop as they strike the creature:

DC 20 reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
As does Alamin's mace!
DC 20 reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
The smell of acid on metal is fused with the flames and electricty.
The creature throws its bulk at 1d4 ⇒ 2 Randtam once again 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13, but once more, Randtam's mighty enchantments thwart the assualt.

It's hard to tell if your weapons did any damage as it's an amorphous blob. The fire and electrical attacks seemed to have some impact (burning off some of the mass), but you just can't be sure about your weapons.
Two weapons actually DID fail the save and that was the acidic popping and hissing you heard from them (and damage rolls). The good news is that the weapons hardness (10) was resistant to the damage.

Strenuously looking this time, Randtam DOES find the lever to release the door.
With a click and a whirr, stone grinds on stone and the door opens into a cell and the final cell block.

I casted protection from evil, there are instances when I get an automatic reroll of a save at a +2 according to the spell. Is this one of these instances?
