I think when you cross over into outright lies, it's time for bluff checks...
-The guards aren't sure about trusting you...sense motive on you!1d20 ⇒ 10 Look, father, the orders never changed, and it seems odd Captain Julius would send a priest instead of a guard. Anyway we're not really on duty now...I mean if he sent you, you'd know why? right?
-The tall one adds You don't know what is in there do you? I've always wondered. We hear noises from inside sometimes. Sounds like metal on metal...kind of creepy at night

Aasimar Init: +3 / Percep +20/Sense Motive +8/ Darkvision 60' CMD=18 Cleric 8 Hit Points: 51/51 AC26/ff25/t12 F+10/R+6/W +15 Channel 6/6

No outright lies yet. Bluff untrained.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Luther just wants to get the guards out of the way so they don't get hurt.
"You don't want to know. I got this."

actually the law is sense motive just to see how the person's attitude is, even if they're telling the truth the other doesn't know that. Lies however, there are negatives to the bluff checks depending on if it's believeable or farfetched, the latter giving a -10 to the check. A nice trick to keep the players guessing is to just do a dice roll publicly and the players won't know if that person really is telling the truth or lying.

Krol stays back, not wanting his nor Ava's presence to disturb or make the guards question why they're here and remains back with Gensin.

They are professinal city guardsmen. You're going to have to make it 'worth their while' to leave their post a bit early...

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

We could bribe them to let us tie them up so they won't get in too much trouble with their boss. I only have 4gp, though, so not sure it's enough.

If this really is a warehouse full of slaves, and if the city guard is really guarding it...do you really want the city guard to know what you did?

BANG BANG BANG BANG pause BANG pause BANG pause BANG BANG BANG Faintly you hear the sound of metal on metal...it comes from inside the bulding...The tall guard says...

-There's that noise again...you know...if I had the key I'd open the door. But I don't...and no other way to get in...

Aasimar Init: +3 / Percep +20/Sense Motive +8/ Darkvision 60' CMD=18 Cleric 8 Hit Points: 51/51 AC26/ff25/t12 F+10/R+6/W +15 Channel 6/6

Luther motions his friends over.
"The truth is, the things going on here are the things that you would want stopped, especially if your wife, girlfriend or daughters were in there. How much would it take to get you to walk away and forget this conversation never occurred and you ever saw us?"

Luther opens his coin purse, and shows that there is a single platinum and four gold amongst the lesser coins. He is much more at home trying to convince men to do the right thing than trick them.

"This is all I have, is this enough? The blessings of Iomedae would be yours too."

"Luckily we have a locksmith with us."

Luther pauses to annunciate the word locksmith, but is above putting air quotes around it with his fingers. He has found that looks undignified.

--The short guard takes your platinum without a word, and walks off. The tall guard says To be honest, I've seen a few men dragging some sacks out of here, bloody sacks. I couldn't rest easy after that...not with all that goes wrong around here...I'll cover for you when they change the guard, and say the other guard was ill, but...He gestures to the door. That is one strong, expensive door...not sure how you're getting that open...to be honest. I figure you've got 2 hours until my relief shows up. If you're late I'll try to stall them.

"We need to get in there and release the people in there before they notice anything is odd." he pauses, lookingin disgust at this place and the statement the guard made. "I would like to burn this place to the ground, but I'm afraid that if that happens, the guards will be in trouble for only doing their job. If we can get in and out with little notice then magic can always be blamed for how someone got inside this place without anyone noticing and freed them."

W'll lemme see whats we gots here. Genisen, kin I borra yer tools? I dun fergut mine.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 <-- +1 trapfinding if applicable.

With the agility of a cat the big man begins to work on the lock.

-There is no lock, this door is simply barred from the inside. There is a small sliding panel in the top of the door password swordfish?
-The building is brick, except for a slate roof. It would be almost impossible to burn...
-It would seem likely there are people inside. You've already heard noise.
-A barred door can not be opened. You could attempt to remove the door for the jam, which would require sledges and perhaps 10 mins work.

Male Human Ranger/1, Rogue/1

Any windows or air shafts on the walls or roof? Any back doors?

--Windows are as described...only on the 2nd floor, and measure only 2 foot square...and they have iron bars. This is a brick fortress, in fact it looks like a PRISON! Roof is slate, very fire resistant.

knowledge engineering DC 11 trained only:
Slate is easily broken...but fire and water proof

--This door is not only the only door, but is new. It was installed recently, and is not as old as the building. This is like the door of a bank vault, not a warehouse. A back door was bricked up at some point in the past...

All I have is using Command:Open to make someone open the door, but I don't think open is in the standard list of verbs. Slate roofs aren't very solid -- maybe we go there.

--The tall guard looks around nervously, and bangs on the door...
a voice from BEHIND the door says Who be ye, and what do you want...

Aasimar Init: +3 / Percep +20/Sense Motive +8/ Darkvision 60' CMD=18 Cleric 8 Hit Points: 51/51 AC26/ff25/t12 F+10/R+6/W +15 Channel 6/6

Luther whispers, "keep it simple."

What in the 9 hells does that even mean? The voice is cleary Dwarven, speaking with a faintly rolling 'r' and says /th/ as /d/.

Luther was whispering to the guard hoping he would speak and use a simple ruse. Quite flustered, Luther tries to recover.

He motions for the others to help him out and holds up his hands in helplessness.

Bluffing my way in here past a dwarf, I don't think I am up for it.

Genisen will move up "We have more....ummm... 'cargo' to bring here and was told to bring them, I mean it, right away! This is my first time doing this, which is freaking me out! So lets get this over with and take them, I mean it, off my hands. I hope this gets easier on later deliveries, my heart is pounding. Need to take another drink of this great dwarven vodka that I have in this here pouch."

Prisoner transfer arriving in Cell Block AA23...

Fearghus, seeing Genisen's ruse, quietly whisperes to Ava, "Jus' play 'long f'r a minute!" and shoves the cloaked and hooded Ava forward.

Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

"Aye, what 'e said! Now open up a'fore th'whole blasted town sees wha's goin' on 'ere!"

We are the guard and we hear a problem...I think...maybe...The guard is a nervous wreck. He's 19 years old, and strong as an ox. He messes up this job, and he's ruined for life...he just wants to do the right thing...but he's dumb as donuts...he's around 6'5" and all muscle however...

His lordship's orders? She must be a right saucy minx, I say we get a look at her...after all don't ask too many questions in this line of business, right?
Fergus you don't even need to bluff, pretty much knocking at the door and sayying women for sale gets you in.
--You hear a VERY complex door being unlocked. It swings out, and a dwarf male...well almost a dwarf...he has no hair, no beard, and his huge blue eyes stare at you...Now show me the girl...inside...behave nicely....he's got a repeating crossbow along the inside of his arm...

knowledge dungeon DC 11:
He is Derro

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Huh, well, OK. Looks like I wasted my nat-20 roll, then. Sadface.

Fearghus briefly pulls back Ava's cowl just enough to show her face but not enough to reveal her neck scales before shoving it back over her face almost as a sack to prevent her from seeing.

"A'ight, then, ye'seen 'er. Make way," he growled and bulled forward into the building, Ava in tow.

Well selling a girl to a brothel isn't that hard in most border regions...see North Korea and Burma...

Krol remains behind but Ava plays along, waiting to be entered with Feargus leading her as if she were a slave to be taken here. She remains silent, though her claws are ready to strike out when the word is given. She has a unnatural beauty to her looks, though her expression is enough to tell anyone that she isn't very friendly.

Now wait a bloody minute...how many of you claim to be pimping the lass? Ain't like I'm a going to let all of you through this door...The man and the girl...that's all..
--There are 3 other men in the room, all dwarven, and all looking mighty nasty....As Fearghus and Ava enter, the 'Ringleader' will ry to shut the door...

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

"It ain't like that! I's was braggin' t'some a' my buddies as if'n they're a'lookin' f'r a good time t'come on down an' celebrate my new job wi' me - an' 'specially cuz they couldn't have this one. Now, how much f'r a girl? Me first, an' only the'one girl, mind, f'r 'em all as 'is Lordship don't pay all 'at great - an' they won't take long 'nyways!"

Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Don't suppose my last one can be used instead?

Fearghus feigned coarse laughter at the implied suggestion of his friends' prowess - or lack thereof.

Well, first you gottsa take her clothes off...all of them. Don't won't no half orcs with the make up getting in here...do we?
The man is disgusting, and tries to lift Ava's skirt with his axe haft.

M Human Paladin 2; Init +2; Per +0; HP 24; AC 18, T 12, FF 16; F +5, R +2, W +3

Fearghus calls out the door to everyone else, "A'ight, boys, we're almost in! Hope y'all's ready t'party - cuz it's startin' real soon, now, y'hear?"

Turning back to the guard, he scoffed, "C'mon, now, I promised the boys a good time and we're all gettin' blue out 'ere waitin'... ye c'n check 'er y'rself later, an' no one t'know th'diff'rence. Drop ye some extra silver as a "courtesy fee" f'r takin' care a' m'friends a'fore they godda leave! A'sides, I'm sure y'd like t' laugh y'r gut out watchin' 'em try to "impress" y'r "lady"!"

Lol - I can imagine some very non pg-13 scenes with a bite based female edilon being forced to work in a house of ill repute.

Lol - I can imagine some very non pg-13 scenes with a bite based female edilon being forced to work in a house of ill repute.

Same with most other monsterous females like Succubus (drain levels with an act of passion), Medusas (have fangs), Kythons have chains all over them and Harpys have talons of their feet...I've clearly thought too far into this. Anyway, Ava is waiting for Feargus to do some kind of signal even as simple as shouting "Now!"

Yeah, any moment now... just wanted everyone else prepped to rush the door before it's closed and locked with us outnumbered two to one... just waiting for one more DM update to see how my last conversation did before calling it!

They intend to bar the door behind the two of you...would you allow that?
