Pros: Probably better to have one more than strictly necessary, just to increase the amount of posting going on, and give each of us yet another PC to bounce our own character interactions off of.
Cons: Whoever we recruit might see 'evil campaign' and get a chubby at the thought of going all antisocial and being a chode.

Mi'Dre |

Albina - it's average rounded up, so for a d8 it's a 5.
Average round up, so for d10s that's a 6-6-6-6-6...
Alrighty will put my evil thinking cap on...
Give me the weekend to rustle up someone/thing suitably as neferious as the rest of you.
Apparently in either the fourth, or upcoming fifth book there's guidelines for how to handle PCs entering the realms of lichdom (hint, hint) :D You may want to confirm with VoV whether he's allowing that.
Speaking of allowing things from upcoming books :D I dunno if you saw my comment on one of the product threads VoV, but there's a torture master archetype for Inquisitors in book 5. Would you mind if I take this archetype at level 5 (first character level for me) instead of a rogue? I assume you'll be picking up book 5 when it comes out? I'm kind of holding off until halloween when the last one comes out to buy the print copies of books 3 to 6.

Black Dow |

Ahhh so many tempting ideas...
At the moment I'm considering a Human Wizard; Thassilionian Specialist (Gluttony) with an eye on the Bloatmage PrC...
Bonded Item will be a Bardiche (considering a cooking/butcher background... bear with me lol) whose voracious in all his appetites... food, flesh, knowledge and power.
Where the infernal connection fits into the scheme is where I'm mulling... any input more than welcome gang - this is your game that I'm potentially joining :)

Black Dow |

Aw man - perfect Mi'Dre you're a warped wee genius :)heheheh.
DMVoV is a cannibalistic bloatmage initiate workable?
Also know I'm not in the door as yet...but as a game flavour suggestion;
"Possumne ego suadeant utimur Latine, quemadmodum Infero?"
"May I suggest we use Latin as Infernal?" - tis something I pepper my other games with Old Norse/Olde English/Icelandic etc - Google Translate so its pretty easy and gives our exchanges a real dollop of flavour?

Mi'Dre |

hehehe :D You're welcome
I'm not normally this weird and creepy, honest!
As long as we settle on something and stick to it I'm okay with that. putting spoiler tags in the middle of paragraphs does tend to disrupt things. Something like arabic looks cooler though, or something with a different character set :)

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

BD - very workable, and no issues with Latin = Infernal.
Might I suggest a worship of Circiatto? He's one of the Malebranche with gluttony, greed, and undead as his areas of concern.
Malebranche dedicate their existences to spreading Hell’s law. Rarely do they travel at the heads of diabolical armies, though. Rather, most journey to their targeted lands alone, and through guile, temptation, and lies sow discord and raise their own legions of native beings. They are the subverters and false saviors, and only when the hour of redemption is too late do they sound the horn of Hell and open the gates for the armies of the damned.
Powerful to the point that they occasionally gain cults of mortal followers, malebranche can grant spells to worshipers in a degree similar to infernal dukes. As these diabolical warlords spend millennia sowing their machinations across the worlds they would rule, they often attain places as figures of myth and divine legend, sometimes across multiple realms. Even if worshiped by beings not of their world, they hear prayers and grant spells, corrupting mortals and aiding their diabolical brethren in whatever even small ways they can.

Shendalyn Shawn |

Oh boy now we get to add a blithering weeping undead goth to our band of misfits. Oh well, it always helps to have someone all too happy to die in the group it lets the rest of us focus on the task of simply surviving the next day.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Righto - BD, original build instructions can be found in the Recruitment thread and then level up to 3rd. Though for wealth please build to a 2nd level equivalent as the others haven't got much cool stuff yet.
As to background:
At some point during your arcane training you indulged in the dark arts of cannibalism and were discovered and run out of town. While fleeing from persecution you were approached by a comely lass called Tiadora (who you should recognize reading through the thread)
So you won't have been in prison like the others, but I the growing up in Aldencross gives me a good story reason to slide you into the campaign. You'll get a specific trait dependent on your backstory too :)
Any other questions let me know BD - otherwise throw up at least a placeholder profile as you'll be introduced in a day or so :P (we can finalize the last of the crunch parallel with your introduction).

Mi'Dre |

Well Mi'Dre hasn't actually told anyone about that so far :p I did mean to post something along the lines in the 'what he'd been doing the last few days' but forgot, so if you want to retcon slightly and say he divied it up, delivering a pouch with 300gp to Black Jack and Shendalyn, and keeping the other share for himself and Albina that's fine with me.
Mi'Dre will let Albina hold his cash for him if she's okay with that, which will be 665gp (half of which is her share, though he'll be more than happy to let her borrow from his share if she needs it) and 25gp of silver dust which he will give her as a gift. He'll be sharing the rotgut whiskey with Grumblejack while he hangs out with him a bit (something else I wanted him to do during the intervening time but forgot :p). The question is does he realize what's up with 'Blackerly's Medicine' before he shares it with Grumblejack too :p
The cash from Blackerly was divied up here. 300 for Jack and Shendalyn, 332.5 for Mi'Dre and Albina.

Cruxcarr Felmongere |

Here's my WIP character folks, still have to settle on some crunch (skills & such), and fluff (gear & properly meated out background...)
Comments both fair and foul are welcomed :)
How are we rolling HP when levelling up? Had a look through the OOC thread and couldn't see it for looking...

Cruxcarr Felmongere |

Well given that Wizards are hardly HP machines, I'll take the average +1 thankyoukindly...
so 4HP + CON bonus... I'll live (or die as the case may be) with that.
DM VoV has also permitted Cruxcarr to indulge in a spot of Fell-mongering ahead of the game start... that is inscribing his scrolls on foes (cough - victims) skins... tis a pity, that Paladin would have made for some sweet vellum... (sigh)
Will fire up my choices once I nail them down. BTW DM VoV - starting second level wealth seems a tad high (given how skint everyone else is)but as I'm a greedy bastich I'll gladly squander it ;)

Mi'Dre |

Hey, his corpse is still down there... actually no, that was a couple months ago now isn't it... bugger. Oh well! Mi'Dre will have someone else to harvest body parts with now, Huzzah!
He wasn't actually a paladin though.
You avatar pic is suitably horrible
Hmm, have I... oh right, I haven't had any favoured class bonuses, because I don't have a class yet :p
*goes back to looking at your sheet*
Taken martial weapon proficiency and has an 11 AC? o.0 Ah right you said you hadn't bought equipment yet. Still the rest of us except Albina are melee though, and there're Shendalyn's summons, and you're only going to be able to wear leather... even mage armor will only make it a 15.
Hmmm, tall AND fat :p Interesting

Cruxcarr Felmongere |

Yup tall and fat (and to be much fatter - start the final weight sweepstakes now lol) - Crux is like an evil Grossberger from Stir Crazy crossed with Baron Harkonnen :S
May rethink the Martial Weapon proficiency, but naught I can do with the AC... Mage Armour and some choice spells will be my boon. (Dodge hardly seems to fit in with a gluttonous wizard..)
20HP should keep Crux upright for a wee while and yeah looking forward to harvesting with you Mi'Dre... perhaps we can indulge in some elf liver pate or cured pizzle of dwarf?
Would you entertain Cruxcarr having this trait (or something similar):
Mother’s Teeth (Lamashtu Religion Trait)
Your teeth are more jagged and pointed than normal.
Benefit: You can make a bite attack for 1d2 points of damage as a secondary attack.
Know that he's not a follower, but would be more to represent his cannibal nature and provide a secondary attack after his knives/hammer?
Am also considering my favourite - Additional Traits Feat in lieu of the Martial Weapon Proficiency...
1. Campaign Trait
2. Possibly above
3. Quick Learner (Equipment trait)
4. AN Other - either Social or Combat dependent on Campaign Trait content...

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

No problem with rebadging Mother's Teeth to reflect your patron in the Malebranche. I'm also in the camp of questioning the investment in the warhammer - doesn't offer much that a Q-staff or club wouldn't give you.
Campaign trait will be known once you've firmed up the background ;)

Cruxcarr Felmongere |

Warhammer was Malebranche's favoured weapon, and had contemplated making this my Bonded Item but yeah am now thinking ditch it in favour of Additional Traits as ye know I loves my traits DM VoV :)
Cool regards trait & background - onnit like a Scotch Bunnet!

Cruxcarr Felmongere |

WIP Background up DM VoV...
Its late so still have some colourful details to add, but at this time on a work night I don't have the words.
Plan to add more in on Cruxcarr's meeting with the Malebranche. And the revelation that he was earmarked for fellness in the womb
Hopefully not too sick a back story, but can tone it down if necessary. Plenty to hint at regards background traits etc, and more than happy to elaborate on details as required.
Bon Appetite ;)

![]() |

And the revelation that he was earmarked for fellness in the womb ** spoiler omitted **
That's actually much more common than previously known. Vanishing twin syndrome
Creepy!

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Cruxcarr - looks good to me, though I'd change the visitation from the Malebranche himself to merely only of his underlings (it could still be a cornugon), as I like to keep my deities a little more distant. Late in the campaign you might meet the man in charge, but as a low level you'll have to work through the underlings.
But on to the background trait (which is in addition to your standard two):
+1 racial bonus on Will saves to resist spells and spell-like abilities of the enchantment (charm) and enchantment (compulsion) schools. In addition, if they fail such a save, they receive another save 1 round later to prematurely end the effect (assuming it has a duration greater than 1 round). This second save is made at the same DC as the first.

Cruxcarr Felmongere wrote:And the revelation that he was earmarked for fellness in the womb ** spoiler omitted **That's actually much more common than previously known. Vanishing twin syndrome
Creepy!
Very! Truth is stranger than fiction... well until I read this game thread lol.
@DMVoV - cheers, am mad at work so might not be able to post in any depth until tomorrow...

Cruxcarr Felmongere |

Almost there - in true Monk McGinn style I've opted for the much maligned club as Cruxcarr's weapon of choice... (albeit its MW :)
"Tut-tut. I avoid damaging the integument as much as oft my dear black hearts... I lament at the tools of the imprudent scrapper, that leave so little to harvest... to work with... to enjoy..."
As for Scrolls
1st Level: Mage Armour (inscribed on a supple strip of parchment from the thigh of a young squire lad)
1st Level: Sculpt Corpse (written on parchment that a Keleshite Merchant claimed was Doppleganger skin)
2nd Level: Blood Transcription (Elegantly engraved upon the blood-dyed leather cover of an old spellbook).
By my reckoning each of the 1st level scrolls cost 75gp + materials to produce. The 2nd level 150gp + materials...
Any input welcome. The first is a pure selfish survival choice (I'm Neutral Evil after all!), second could come in handy for some subterfuge.
Blood Transcription is just damn cool lol.

Cruxcarr Felmongere |

@DMVoV: Regards the scrolls - had presumed CL:3 hence the 75gp cost for 1st level scrolls. But if they're that cheap, I'll spring for more...
All the spells are in my spellbook.
Still have to nail down Bonded Item vs Familiar but will do so before the week's end - best get the show on the road :)

(sticks his head up from lurking in the shadows)
Our WotW party is at exactly the same point as your group. It's great fun to read about your progress :)
Cruxcarr, before WotW we just finished Rise of the Runelords, and I think you've prepared a really cool character. Lots of flavor. (and yes, pun intended, couldn't help it) I'm looking forward to reading your escapades.
Have fun :)

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Crux - I thought you only scribed at the minimum level to cast... checks.... looks like I was wrong.
I'll let you set the caster level you want for each scroll as you scribe it. So for a 1st level spell 1st level caster its 12.5gp in costs
For a 1st level spell 3rd level caster it would be 37.5gp
