excellent:) let me look over your sheet. i will probably make several requests on the formatting. it will llikely be annoying, but the better its formatted the easier things will be for me, and since this will be a long game it is a wise investment of time. so just bare with me on my requests over the next day or 2 and then we will be on our way:)

jimibones83 |

@Tsam-nar you are level 3 correct? I dont see class/level listed on your sheet anywhere. i know that field is packed with info i requested, but if you could list it at the top above "Init +7, low-light vision, Perception +6" that would work just fine. One thing i notice though is that you have to much gear for level 3. starting gold is 3,000gp.

jimibones83 |

@HunYet as an example of how to use spoilers to keep things easy to read through.
Id like to see your spider in a spoiler. what that will do is hide it and show a button i can click if I want to see it. grouping things up and placing them in these makes it much easier for me to scan a character sheet. What you want to do is go to your character sheet and put the cursor directly before where your text starts on the spider. type [spoiler=Giant Crab Spider] (I only bolded to show what exactly to type)
(instructions continued in next comment)

HunYet |

Thanks you for the spoiler instructions. Can I also do the same thing with feats and spells? And I'm a little confused with the Spider Summoner. Does it mean that I have to be 4th level or does it mean I have to be able to cast 4th level spells?

jimibones83 |

@HunYet do me a favor as well. Right click Tsam-nar's pic and open it in another tab. Then look at his character sheet and notice his Class/Level field. Fill the same info into that field on your sheet as he has on his sheet. When we get into the gameplay tab it will display the info in that field next to your pic, so that way I don't have to leave the page to view the most common referenced info:)

jimibones83 |

@Tsam lol, its kinda funny. Under Race it says Level 4, Gender says Magus, and Occupation says Female Drow Magus lol. Race should say Drow, Gender should say Female, and Occupation could just say Magus 4. However, it's all there so its not to big a deal. I notice your character sheet is missing some stuff though. where's yur spells?

jimibones83 |

I dont know if you guys noticed it or not, but if you scroll to the top of this page and click Campaign Info, and then click Character Sheet, and then click Example, there is a perfectly formatted sheet you can view as a template. It doesnt have to be perfect, and most characters will varry somewhat due to different abilities, but the closer to that example you can get the better. Again, it doesnt have to be perfectly the same, but close is nice. HunYet's is starting to resemble it now.
Once Tsam gets his spells and anything else updated to his sheet i will probably open the gameplay thread and we will start. before we do that though make sure to view some of the info in the Campaign Info tab. the Gameplay Format spoiler explains how to format your text in game. The combat initiative tab explains initiative as it says, but may be a bit confusing so i can explain that as we go. in fact, its not even that important because theres only 2 players. Maps is important to read but will make more sense once i get our first map up.

jimibones83 |

ok guys HERE is a list of the campaign traits for this game. sorry it took me so long to get them up, but i was having trouble finding them. theres no players guide for this adventure path and it turns out they were burried 3/4 of the way through the first book. since i cant give you guys access to the book, i found them all listed on a web page as well, which is where the link will take you. they are all crimes. pick one, that will be the reason you are in prison. you are free to pick your second campaign trait from any published paizo material. most of them are located in the APG.

jimibones83 |

oh ok cool, i overlooked that. no its good how it is. when your sheet gets more complex as you level im going to need you to add some spoilers and bolding though. we can maybe get together later and do it in person to make it easier. theres not as much need for it right now but by the time your level 7 or 8 your sheet will start getting pretty lengthy

Kurrel |
Heresy
You have denied the supremacy of Mitra and been condemned
for it. For this to be a crime, you were not content
to keep your heresy to yourself. You tried to sway
others. Likely you were captured by the famed witch
hunter Sir Balin of Karfeld. The last thing he said to you
was: “Mitra may forgive you yet for your lies. Talingarde
will not.” If only you could get a chance at revenge!
Punishment: Death by burning.
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus on all saving
throws against divine spells.

HunYet |

Sorry Kurrel is me. I didn't realize that i needed to post as.
Okay I've made some of the changes and read all the spoilers suggested. I can't say that i'll be on point right away, but i learn fast. Also I had the spider summoner explained to me already. My example was correct. Its spell level not class level.
Ready

One thing normally recommended in pbp is to always narrate in third person. Of course your character wont speak like that, but narration comes out much better in third person. It actually allows the whole thread to be read as a single story, almost like a book. This is extremely helpful when you need to catch up on a few posts before you post yourself. Plus its nice if you get bored and just want to go back and read some of he story:)

jimibones83 |

pbp moves kinda slowly compared to other means of playing, so sometimes i will do a sort of cut scene where a lot happens. you guys are welcome to jump into that cut scene and change the events or participate, but will need to describe things well. Or you are also free to just auto pilot through the cut scene and pick up right at the end of it, however you want to handle the individual situation is fine.

jimibones83 |

whoa whoa whoa, i just noticed something. HunYet you are confused on how to do a point buy. It appears that you took 25 points and added them to base scores of 10 however you wanted. Sorry man, thats not how it works. Yur scores are way to high lol. The 25 points are used to purchase scores. Please fix this right away by referencing the table on page 16 of the CRB, or if you have to look it up online its table 1-1: Ability Score Costs
@Tsam-nar I'm getting that you overspent by one point as well. I figured the extra point at 4th level going to Dexterity which is the most optimized way to get your scores and I come up with a 26 point buy every time. fix this for me by dropping either Con, Int or Wis down by 1.

HunYet |

I'm not sure what i did wrong. This is only my second time making a character and its the first time doing it alone. I just plugged the number in as follows:
Str 10 cost 0 race 0 = 10
Dex 15 cost 7 race +4 = 19 +1 Level 4 = 20
Con 9 cost -1 race -2 = 7
Int 12 cost 2 race +2 = 14
Wis 15 cost 7 race +2 = 17 +1 other mod.
Cha 16 cost 10 race +2 = 18

HunYet |

"Step 1 - determine ability scores" says "spent 25" followed by "Abilities outside 7-18 do not use core"
I have to get back to work, but I'll try to get fixed by starting again from scratch tonight.

jimibones83 |

ok so yur points were spent the right way, but drow only get +2 dex, +2 cha, -2 con. Adjusting that will leave me with just one question, what is the +1 other mod on yur Wis from?
if fixing these racial modifiers changes yur abilities so much that it causes you to want to do your ability buy over again thats fine, go ahead and do it.

jimibones83 |

oooooh wait, i see, you wanted to play a drow noble. i didnt know that, i thought i was allowing regular drow. drow noble are a whole different story. there race is a 41 point race compared to 14 of a regular drow. yur effectively a level 7 character in a level 1 adventure. i guess thats fine if dustin doesnt mind yur race being more advanced than his, but you wont level up for a very long time and im going to have to customize every bit of the adventure for quite a while

HunYet |

Okay, so it looks like I f'd the whole thing. The is no need for you to change the campaign for my mistake. I just got home, so it will be a couple hours before I get it fixed.

jimibones83 |

Dustin informed me of yur plans last night. Thats cool man, it will actually work out a lot better for you to do a rebuild. my apologies for switching the campaign style up on you guys. When I told Dustin we could do a drow campaign I kinda figured I'd be able to find a module or something for it somewhere, but it was more difficult than i thought. I could certainly just do it the old fashion way and just wing it, but I run 4 games and a module/adventure path reduces my work load quite a bit. none the less, this is still going an awesome game. this AP gets a lot of praise:) drow are good for it to, but i apologize for it not being a full on drow game like i had originally said

HunYet |

No problem Jim. I really didn't even realize I had used a upgraded drow. The character generator I use is a auto fill excel workbook. It has all the rule built in and all I have to do is fill out the basics. Unfortunately, Noble Drow is way before Drow in the drop down box. As for the extra plus 1 to wisdom. I don't know, but when I remade HunYet on paper last night it wasn't there. It's better that i made her from scratch anyway. Now I actually know what the numbers are for.

HunYet |

Oh my, it took me forever to get this typed into a script that works with this formatting. I tried using the Spoilers for each of the spells and abilities, but was running into a problem. I must have tried putting it in 20 times. With at least 10 different styles. Each time i would get an error message. Although they didn't tell me directly I was able to figure out that Paizo has a size limit for script. So I needed to figure out a different way to do it. I noticed that when you sent me the veil you used a url. I looked under format and found the url format option and was able to use that to cut my text down by 75%.
Please review my character guys to make sure I didn't make any mistakes. This is my 1st time making a character from scratch.

jimibones83 |

I glances at it but I'll take a more in depth look tomorrow. I did notice some info that could be left out though. Some things you will use but are just as well looked up when you need them rather than kept on yur sheet. I absolutely love the idea you had to list your spells known in links to the spells though. I will be doing that from now on with all my characters.
I was wondering if maybe you'd be comfortable with me tinkering around with your sheet a bit. I wouldn't change anything, just organize it in a way that's easy to scan
