Nahia |

*blink* *blink* I can't believe that worked.
Nahia watches as the mist settles to the ground and grins as her companions slaughter the... beast? Turning to Seren, she will say "See, I just needed to center myself, to gather my wits and focus my will."
"So, which way should we go now? Cruelty or Strength?" Nahia says jovially.

Nahia |

Yeah, I was just kind of grasping at straws. I actually expected it to be immune. And looking now it had a decent will save too. We lucked out on that one.

Seren Little |

"Not sure how mist gets put to sleep, but well done." She does have her uses...
"There is no way I'm getting in that rack. I'd vote Strength. Hopefully there is something in there we can use for this thing... Else I'm going back for one of the slaves. Unless of course, one of you wants to volunteer. I do have some skill with this piece of equipment." Seren replies.

Zerik |

Zerik is unsure what just happened but realises that's Nahia's magic has something to do with it he pats her on the back saying, "Well done Nahia. I was beginning to worry about the fog, but it seems there is very little we cannot overcome together." he says surprising himself.
On The map it seems we only have one way forward. The southern door on the eastern room. Though we should check for secret passages. If we do have a choice Zerik chooses Strength
-Posted with Wayfinder

Nahia |

Nahia will turn to her companions and say "I'm not sure it works like that. It said, 'Cruelty is a tool not a pastime. Be ruthless to thy enemy but reward those who serve thee well.' Note that last part: 'reward those who serve thee well'. None of us are the enemy, nor are any of the servants. We're missing something again..."

Seren Little |

I'm not sure we are at the eastern room yet. had the secret door room, the ice room, and then the mist room. Think we all just got moved into the mist room so can go north or east. North is the torture rack and east is the door with the strength inscription. Don't think we've actually opened the door to the east room yet.
"Fine, we don't torture anyone. Yet." Seren concedes.
thinking for a moment she adds. "Well the first room had something to solve the second room so...maybe the strength room will give us something for the rack?"
Edit: was going to double post. instead just doing it in one post.

Nahia |

Nahia will nod at Seren and say "It's a possibility. But if there isn't something in the next room, for here, then I think we should think this over some more. Cardinal Thorn wasn't exactly specific on the details, but I assume that if there are nine trials, each trial is expected to be completed."
Ok, so we're heading to the strength door then? If so, then I have something else to do before we open it up. If we don't do that, then disregard below this point.
Reading the inscription, Nahia thinks to herself:
”The chosen are revealed by their might”? Given how the previous rooms have worked we will have to show strength. I think a little preparation is in order.
Nahia will turn to the others, and say ”I have a feeling there is a fight for us in the next room.” Nahia will give a grin to Eric and say, ”Eric, would you like something to make you a bigger, better man? At least for a couple of minutes?”
Aklo: ”Your spirit is grander than your flesh. Let your spirit be unrestrained, that your flesh might follow in inspiration. May your see your potential, the majesty of your being.”
With a final motion, Nahia will draw forth a handful of iron powder, hold it in her upturned palm, lean towards Eric, and blow the dust towards him with a grin.
Suddenly, Eric will shine, a silhouette of his form will radiate outward from him, at first, twice his size, but then his body begins grow, continuing until he fills his own great projection.
Nahia casts Enlarge Person on Eric

Eric Erebus |

After struggling for some time to put out his torch and replace it with the ion torch, Eric turns to Nahia.
"Anything that will help us prove our worth to the master is fine by me. Though I'm not certain which door should be our path. I feel that Cruelty should be the way, but perhaps you are all correct and we shall find something to aid us in the Strength room," says Eric as he finally manages to get the ion torch into his shield sconce.
Statisfied that the new torch should stay in place, Eric pulls his sword while finally hoping to get to see what the others have been looking at in the darkness.
With all this darkness, I think I shouldn't have went human, lol.
As Eric begins to enlarge, he wonders, "Am I going to be able to fit within the small passage ways?"

Nahia |

Ok, sounds like we are in agreement with going to the Strength door. I moved myself and Eric (and resized him), hope that was ok. Nahia would have done that right before we were going to bust into there. Considering the Strength bit I have no problem with Grumblejack being in front of me. : )

Seren Little |

"Anyone else find an empty room curious?" Seren asks curiously. "I guess lets go lift the bar keeping that door closed? Seems like a trap, but we don't seem to have a lot of choice here except to walk into it if it is."

Eric Erebus |

"Hmm... Shall we just lift the bar and see what's behind this door?" asks Eric as he makes his way to the door.
still can't do more than view the map... Need to get me home computer running.

Nahia |

I'll move you.
Nahia will nod at Seren, saying "I, too, think this is some kind of trap..."

DM Aku |

As soon Erics steps into the room, he is attacked by two small metal snakes.
Snake one:
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Snake two:
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Eric, you need to do for me two fort Saves DC 11.
Nahia: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Eric: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Seren: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
Zerik: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Grumblejack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
Snake 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Snake 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
To see who acts first:
1 - Zerik
2 - Snake
1d2 ⇒ 1
One of the snakes, while Eric is still surprised by the events attack again.
Snake two:
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
You can post now your actions, just remember that Zerik acts before you.
After Zerik actions, the other snake will atk Eric again:
Snake one:
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
And I need another fort test from Eric DC 11

Nahia |

Crap, they've made some good rolls. DM Aku, can you update the map with the snake locations? It will very possibly change what I do.
Also, taking 10 on a Knowledge Arcana give me a 17.

Seren Little |

And Eric just gets Rocked by the snakes. shouldn't snake one also have a crit confirm on his last attack against Eric? If I'm doing the math right, 3 hits to Eric (plus possible crit on last one) puts him at 2/23 HP?
Know(Arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
"Yep, Trap." Seren sighs. She flashes out her left arm a bone white wand unloading from her wrist into her awaiting hand. She rushes up to Eric, a black mist swirling around the clear crystal at the end of the wand. Tapping Eric, the black mist begins to surround him, seeking out the puncture wounds left by the snakes. Finding the injuries the mist seeps into them healing some of the damage.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Yay for good rolls when you need them
"Not sure how I'm supposed to torture a construct damn it." Seren cries in frustration.
Well clearly my first guess was wrong."

Nahia |

Right, we're in combat. Totally spaced on that one.
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Nahia will move forward, wand still in hand, saying "Trap indeed. Don't worry Eric, we'll take care of you."
Nahia begins to motion her arms in a wide circle, chanting Aklo: "Spirits, come and help this man, that he might continue on, that his will be done." Little pinpoints of green light appear and close in as she pulls her arms towards her chest, before then reaching forward and touching Eric.
Cure Light Wounds on Eric.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Eric Erebus |

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Caught off guard by the sudden flurry of bites, Eric wildly lashes out instinctively.
Attack on Snake 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
EDIT: As I'm enlarged, current ACs are 18/ 8touch/ 18flat-footed. Thought I should note that for later.

Nahia |

While it probably doesn't matter on that first attack, remember that your damage dice went up too. It's 2d6 now.

Zerik |

Zerik draws the mighty blade as he rushes past his companions to enter the room and tries to leap past Erik and attack the snake as he lands. Due to Erik's recent bulk Zerik is unable to maneuver past him and land awkwardly unable to effectively bring his blade down to strike the creature.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 2 = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 92d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
Zerik takes and AoO from the snake

DM Aku |

Okay I should preview my posts before really posting it...
In the first round of combat, I got a natural 20 on Eric. I'll try to confirm it. If i'm lucky... :D
Crit Confirmation:
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Oh well, not this time...
Eric took 21 dmg from both snakes, and was healed for 14 by Seren and Nahia.
Zerik trys to move but fails his test and is attacked by one of the snakes.
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
But the snake fails.

Nahia |

Ok, round two action.
Nahia takes the bone wand and traces the pattern of a pentagram in the air, the red gem tip leaving trailing red lines in the air. With a final gesture, she touches the wand to Eric.
Using the wand Infernal Healing on Eric. Regain 1 hp per round for 10 rounds.

NPC - Grumblejack |

"Big Un' get out of Grumblejack way!" yells the ogre.
He moves inside the room.
And provoke one AoO from the other snake.
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Then he will attack the same snake that attacked him.
Atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Atk: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (7, 8) + 7 = 22
It was a hell of a powerful attack, but even then, the ogre was not able to hit the snake.
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 x DC 11
Edit:I had edited and add the fort save before the attack, but it changes the attack value, so I'm changing it for after the attack.
Dex DMG 1d2 ⇒ 2

DM Aku |

Ending round one.
Round One Recap:
Eric got attacked by some metal snakes, but was able to resist their poison and dmg. he tries to attack back, but with no success.
Seren and Nahia heals some of Eric wounds.
Zerik trys to get closer of one of the snakes to attack, but he is not able to hit the snake.
The ogre enters the room and unleash a powerful blow. One that would have destroyed the snake, if only he was able to hit it.
Round Two.
the snakes will atk Eric again:
Snake one;
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Snake two;
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Things are getting good!
You can post your actions for round two.

Zerik |

Ouch those things are tough and Erik is getting his ass kicked.
Zerik's spins to the side bringing the great blade to bear in the nimble snake with clockwise slash. (5' step north)
Attack/Dmg: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 232d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11
-Posted with Wayfinder

Nahia |

Man, these things have a high AC and you keep rolling well on their to hit (not to mention they are flanking Eric). I hope we manage to take at least one down on the next round. : /
Also, constructs. I'm fairly useless in this fight. Hope we don't fight any more of these. Or oozes. Or Undead.

Seren Little |

"New Goal Eric. Don't get bitten by the snakes every time." Seren offhandedly remarks drawing on the power of her wand again, the black mist seeking one of the many wounds littering Eric's body.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
A fight where I'd actually be a decent damage dealer with all my negative energy touch attacks and I'm stuck behind Eric who keeps trying to die on us.

Nahia |

Nahia will smile back at Seren and whisper "Now, now. Every bite that happens to him doesn't happen to us."
If Seren is that desperate to get into combat, she could always hand the wand over to Nahia and wade in herself.

Seren Little |

She would get into combat but with the way these snakes are biting no way she is risking an AoO or an acrobatics check to get around Eric. Still much happier to let Eric take the attacks.

Eric Erebus |

Feeling the dark energies of his friends curing his wounds, Eric says bravely, "These things will not bring me down!"
Eric tries to regain some of his composure, moving away from the doorway 5 foot step diagonially SE he focuses most of his attention on the downward stroke of his strike as he attacks the snake south of the door.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 3) + 9 = 15

DM Aku |

Eric, from where you were, you cant take a 5ft diagonally, no space, so I moved you foward.
Round Two Recap:
Eric, the brave still stands and fight back! But maybe no for long.
Zerik the powerful hits but a so so sword blow.
Nahia and Seren are playing 'who heals more?' with Eric while Grumblejack is trying to break all the floor with his powerful blows.
Both os snakes are still up. The north one took 6 dmg from Zerik and the south one took 10 dmg from Eric.
Both snakes will atk Eric again.
Snake one:
Atk: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 = 13
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Snake two.
Atk: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 2 = 24
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Eric, I need another Fort DC 11.
Grumblejack Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 x DC 11
Actions?

Seren Little |

Seren throws the wand to her left at Nahia "Catch. I'll deal with this snake." She exclaims, disgusted with the damage Eric is taking.
Bloody snakes are going to kill Eric if I just let him keep dangling his leg out for the snake to bite..
Stepping up into the doorway Seren reaches for the southern snake, dark energy sparking as it travels along her arm. She feels the abundant charge release as she touches the southern snake, the dark energy wrapping around the snake, shooting black sparks down its metallic skin.
Attack(Death's Touch): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9
so 4 damage if crit fails to confirm.

Eric Erebus |

Forgot to make my save last time as well. Will do that one first.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Fort Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Trying to be a bit more cautious, Eric focuses his attention with guarding himself with the shield rather than trying to inflict a powerful blow.
Fighting Defensively: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
Eric gains +2 dodge bonus to AC from Fighting defensively. @20AC for all the good it does, lol.
@Seren- Death's Touch is an energy attack. It by-passes all DRs. I'm tempted to start using my negative energy attacks, lol.
@DM- Thanks for moving forward, map looks off to me (but I think that is because of this computer not loading it properly). Also, I don't think they get flank bonus anymore as they are no longer across from each other. Granted, the attack still hits regardless.

Seren Little |

Oh i'm aware. but i crit and I did both dice rolls in one so if my crit confirm fails then only the first roll of 3+1 is applied.

Eric Erebus |

Ahh, i see. I thought you were taking off the 5 from DR since you did a touch attack, lol. I should do a better job of reading before I post...

Seren Little |

O okay. I'll remember that for next time. Every GM seems to like to do crits a little differently.

Nahia |

Round three
Nahia catches the wand that Seren tossed. Seeing Grumblejack get bit she will say to him "Big'un! Are you ok?"
However, seeing Eric take the beating that he is, Nahia will step forward, gesturing with the clear tipped bone wand, drawing the black mist from it and directing the cloud towards Eric.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
5' step and using the wand on Eric.
Assuming he lets her...
Nahia will take the red tipped bone wand and begin tracing the pentagram again, the red lines streaking in the air before touching Grumblejack with the wand. Smiling, Nahia will tell Grumblejack "There, see, that wasn't so bad."
Also, double fisting various wands of healing!
Edit: Adjusting for the possibility the other snake is killed before my turn.

Zerik |

Zerik slides to his right flanking the northern snake between himself and Erik and fiercely attacks trying to find a way to strike the nimble creature.
Attack/Dmg: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 112d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
Zerik take a 5' step before attacking. Erik would also get a flanking bonus this round since I move first, though from our rolls it hasn't helped either of us.

DM Aku |

Round three Recap:
Big Un'(Eric) and Little Un(Zerik) did nothing with theirs swords.
Bad girl Seren death touched the snake, making it stop functioning.
Nahia won the dispute. Her new name is: 'Nahia of the Healing Wand' (pun? maybe...)
Grumblejack is doing what he does best. Destroying the floor and letting the snake alive to bite someone else.
Zerik is the first one in this next round. The snake two is 'dead'.
...It will bite Eric again.
Atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Zerik |

Zerik switches to a more simple style of attack trying more precise attacks. He dances with the snake trying to draw push it where he wants, first left then right with a clockwise slash eventually finishing with a downward slice one he has the beast in position.
Flanking Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 172d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
Unfortunately it isn't enough. The snake escapes another attack. "The damn little thing is too quick for this cumbersome blade."

Seren Little |

Seren looks down at the unconscious Eric. We appear to have found Eric's weakness. Little metal snakes...
Sighing loudly she reaches down and places a hand on Eric's arm, dark energy gathering within her. With a final motion she releases the crackling energy, The energy forcefully entering Eric's body, leaving a scorch mark where her hand was placed.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Edit:Forget about this post. Going to alter actions. Busy day at work, so was doing things quickly and didn't take into account last round as mentioned by Nahia. This is what I get for trying to rush.

Nahia |

Eric's not unconscious. His profile status is incorrect and does not include my CLW from last round, or the 1 hp from Infernal Healing that he received on his turn. Check the map status, that one is correct (for before the snake hit him, so he should have 6 hp left after the snake bite, and 7 on his turn, assuming no one else heals him.).

Seren Little |

Seren looks up at Eric, his enlarged frame towering above her. "I have had enough of these stupid little snakes. Kill this one will you." She asks, laying a hand on his back.
Seren Casts Guidance on Eric.
